We will be staying at the Caribbean Beach resort for the first time next May. It will just be my husband, myself, and our son who will be 2 and a half years old. What area should we request when making our reservations? We want to be sure to get one of the rooms that has been recently refurbished. We would also like a relatively quiet area (son goes to bed fairly early) but we don't want to have a long hike to the food court and parking lot (we drive to WDW so we usually use our own car instead of the WDW transportation system). Any suggestions?

You can request a "recently renovated" room.
Martinique is right next to the food court. We've stayed in Jamica (request room near the bridge), it's a nice walk to the food court in the am, and not too long. Also Aruba (room near the bridge) is not too far. Jamica usually is the first bus stop.

Are you familiar with Deb Will's site. I think resort maps are on there.:D

All rooms have been renovated.
We stayed in Martinique 25 last month. It was very close to OPR and the themed pool, but it was also very quiet. We never heard a sound from other guests or the public areas the whole week we were there. It was wonderful.
I understand that in 2004, Martinique and Trinidad North will become "preferred" buildings, meaning there will be an extra charge for rooms in those sections.
If you don't want to pay the extra charge, I'd request Jamaica near the bridge. It's not a bad walk, especially if you use a stroller for your son. Maybe five minutes.
There is plenty of parking for each of the sections, instead of one main parking lot. No problems there.
This is a beautiful resort. I think you will love it!

Martinique and Trinidad North will be preferred buildings next year so if you want to stay in those they will cost extra.

This map will show you where the villages are located.
All the rooms have been refurbished and the food court was redone in 2003.
I suggest you visit the CBR FAQ thread. You will find lots of great information there on CBR.
I also have CBR pics on my website.
