Today, 7/2/03, I started the Atkins diet. I don't have a book yet, I am going by the List from the Atkins website of approved foods for Induction. I may be on Induction for a while, if I can stand it, as I have a bit of weight to lose. I guess the anonimity of it all helps, because I intend on being brutally honest here, something I would NEVER do in "real life".

I am 31 years old, married, and have 2 daughters ages 5 and 2.5. The most I ever weighed, while pregnant with my second daughter, was 245 lbs. I got on track and lost 30 lbs after she was born. I did this by excercising and eating "right". And I have done a great job in maintaining that weight loss, although today was the first day I excercised in over two years!

The Nitty Gritty, so to speak (pinky swear you will never tell as I tend to "hide" my weight pretty well!):

I weighed in today at 215 lbs
My measurements are:
Bust 46
Stomach 45
Hips 47
Thighs 27.5
Upper Arms 16
Neck 15

That is all I measured, that is enough! To think that when I met my hubby I weighed 135 lbs - - I can't blame this on him though, or can I?????

Today I intended on waking up early to excercise before DDs woke up, didn't happen, they woke up when my alarm went off. I still decided to put on a Richard Simmons tape even though they were awake. It was annoying, but I did finish. (20 minute workout) The worst part is my 2 year old telling me "scuse me, Momma, can't see" because I was in front of the TV (working out, mind you!) It is hard to try to explain something to a child WHILE working out, and I didn't want to lose my momentum. Anyway, tomorrow will hopefully be easier!

My Meals today:

Breakfast, which I ate at 11:30 am (because I just am NOT hungry before that) 2 scrambled eggs

Lunch, ate at 2:30pm Salad of Romaine lettuce, mushrooms, celery, cucumbers, topped with vinegar and oil.

Dinner, ate at 6:30pm 2 med. hamburger patties, wrapped in lettuce, with tomato & mayo and 3 oz asparagus with butter

Snack, ate at 10:30pm cute little recipe I got while searching for low carb desserts. 2oz cream cheese, 1 TBS unsweetened cocoa, and 4 packets Splenda (called for nuts to top, but I didn't have them). A great recipe to curve the need for sweets with ingredients that are easy to have on hand!

And, of course 64+ ounces of water!

I feel good about my choices today and I feel confident that I can do this. I don't feel hungry (did before I ate each meal though!)
I CAN DO THIS!!! I have to keep a positive frame of mind and STAY busy. My mini goal is to get down to 195, my long term goal is to weigh between 125-140 by 10/23/04 when we take our first Disney cruise AND celebrate our 10th Anniversary.

I will post meals and excercise as often as possible. I will post weight loss once per week.

That's all for now!

Pretty much the same as day one, except for evening:

Breakfast 11:30am 2 scrambled eggs

Lunch 3pm Romaine Salad w/ mushrooms, celery, cucumber & vinegar and oil

Dinner 6:30pm Chicken Stir Fry made at home with water chestnuts, green pepper, bean sprouts, broccoli. 1 tsp soy sauce. To make up for no rice, I cooked a spaghetti squash and used a half cup as rice. Now I have spaghetti squash ready, love it with butter! Definitely will eat that tomorrow.

Snack 7:45pm Made that Mock Danish recipe I found here (thanks!) Very good!!!!

According to Fitday.com, I am over on my carbs today. I limited my dinner to VERY few chestnuts (like 5) and sprouts. I think I may have over estimated how much I ate though, I didn't actually weigh them!

Excercise was a pain today, my daughters interrrupted me about 5 times for a half hour tape, including spilling the cats water bowl all over the floor! (they were excercising too, and bumped it) But I completed it. Made a "date" with a friend to start walking next week.

Tomorrow, I think I will give them a project to do at the dining room table. The dining room will be a mess, but they will hopefully be out of my hair!

I feel very tired today...hope to go to bed early!

Breakfast 1 scrambled egg, 4 pieces of bacon 10:30am

Lunch Small romaine, feta cheese, cucumber, mushroom salad 3pm

Dinner 2 grilled burgers, wrapped in lettuce with mayo and one slice tomato each, and one grilled hot dog 7pm

I did pretty good, especially considering I went to a party where there was pasta salad, corn on the cob, baked beans, strawberries, watermelon etc. I stuck with it, but had to explain why I was eating this way. A "friend" warned me that most people who do Atkins gain it back. I just said that, although I have a hard time losing weight, over the last few years I have done very well with maintaining. She seemed satisfied with that.

Excercise - - ONE HOUR of Richard Simmons Broadway workout, it is my favorite, I have been working up to it by doing the shorter ones first. I did it EVERY day for 4 months at the beginning of 2001 and I REMEMBERED it!!! I actually look forward to doing it again.

That is it for now.

Dinner 5:15pm 2 Grilled pork chops, Spaghetti squash, Asparagus. 1 Tbs butter for veggies.

Snack 10:30pm Mock Danish, left out the lemon and added cinnamon (I miss Cinnamon toast), really good!

July 6 Sunday
Breakfast 10:30am 1.5 scrambled egg, 5 pieces bacon

Lunch 3pm Large BLT Salad from Wendy's with Ceaser dressing (2 packets, they are small)

Dinner 7:30pm 1 Hamburger patty, plain

Excercise: Half of RS Broadway tape, had to cut it off because family was ready to go to beach. Walked a lot at beach, at least a half mile.

July 7 Monday
Breakfast None

Lunch 2pm 2 hamburger patties, lettuce and one Tbs mayo

Dinner 5:30pm Chicken breast with parmesan and garlic, spaghetti squash and asparagus

1 hr RS Broadway tape, went to Curves and JOINED!!! I start tomorrow!

My measurements at curves, with clothes on (I must have messed up some of these)
Bust 48.5
Waist 41.5
Abdomen 47
Hips 47.75
Thighs 27.75 and 27.5
Arms 15.25 and 15.5

God help me---Body Fat---43% How did I let it get this bad?
I can do better! And I AM!

The good news, I weighed 211.4, with clothes, and she said their scale runs high. My scale at home says 209 (no clothes), which seems accurate according to the Curves lady (MaryAnn). So I have lost 6 pounds!!!

I am not going to measure myself anymore, I will wait until next month when they measure me to check the totals--kind of like waiting for Christmas!

Mom2Princesses
07-08-2003, 10:50 PM
B: scrambled egg 11am
L: Wendy's BLT salad w/ Ceaser dressing 3pm
D: 1 Cup Tuna Salad (tuna, mayo, celery) 6pm
Snack: Steak Um wrapped in cheddar cheese, one slice muenster cheese 9pm

Excercise: RS Broadway, 1 hr. 1st visit to Curves, one half hour.

Mom2Princesses
07-09-2003, 10:45 PM
B: Atkins Advantage Chocolate/Almond Bar (about half, kind of yucky!) 10 am (getting it in earlier)
L: 1 Cup tuna salad (w/mayo & celery) on lettuce, 5 cucumber slices, 2 slices muenster cheese, and a teeny bit of that Atkins Bar. Noon
D: Steak Um wrapped in Swiss Cheese (one of each), half cup of Tuna salad. 4pm
S: Cauliflower with bacon (real), butter, cheese, and a little cream cheese---Super Yummy! 8:30pm

Excercise: RS Broadway, half hour...about 10 minute walk...Curves workout half hour!
Weighed in this morning 205! that is a 10 pound loss on my first week of Atkins! Go Nancy!

Mom2Princesses
07-10-2003, 09:53 PM
B: Cauliflower mashed with butter, cream cheese, little shredded cheese (I swear, if it weren't for the carbs, I would eat this all day!) 11am
L: Tuna salad 2pm
D: Chicken Salad (lettuce, tomato, celery, green pepper, chicken and Ceaser Dressing) 6pm
S: 5 slices Muenster cheese, two wrapped in Steak-Um. one slice swiss 8:30 pm

Definitely went overboard on the after workout snack. Still stayed within my carb range...but barely! Plus, it was simply overindulging, I didn't need that big of a snack. I cannot let my workouts give me an excuse to eat...eat...eat!

Excercise: Half hour RS Broadway tape, Curves workout (3rd one!)

Had a little problem with my water today, I have been taking in 64+oz per day, but at 3pm I realized I had only had 16 oz. so I have been playing catch up ever since.

Nancy, we are so close in stories I had to write! I am at 205 trying to get to 130 range! You are doing great keep up the good work!! Congrats on that 10 lb. loss!

Mom2Princesses
07-11-2003, 10:07 PM
1st, to TiggerKeeper--Thanks for the vote of confidence. It was on a day I truly needed it! Feel free to post whatever you want to here, let me know how you are doing. Are you on Atkins too?

B: Couple pieces of broccoli
L: Tuna w/ mayo
D: HUGE Chef salad with Caesar
S: Yummy steak!

Excercise: 1 hr RS Broadway tape. Did NOT go to Curves today, even though I had the opportunity to. Just felt too full from Dinner and only had a 15 minute range to go or would have been too late. CRAVINGS all day today, chocolate, sweets etc. It was horrible and has not happened to me since I started Atkins 7/2! I realized I am definitely PMS, and I always crave chocolate when I am PMSing. It was a bad day, especially since my children were little monsters all day. I have had thoughts all day that I am gaining back the 10 lb loss and adding to it. I didn't keep track of my foods at Fitday.com either...what is wrong with me? Tomorrow WILL be better!

Can we just call ourselves the 20X triplets? Meaning we all weigh 200 and some change???? I am JUST like the both of you!!!! Except my highest with child #3 was 258 and I started on April 1st at 236 and hopefully this Tuesday will be 206! :) My first goal was to be 196 by 9/23- but now I really think I can be below 190 by then. We celebrated our 10th anniversary last year and yes I weighed 135 at our wedding! I'm a little over 5'7 and hope to get to 140 or anything below.

We can do this!!!! I'll be keeping track of you two and helping push you along- please email me anytime you need encouragement. I'm slimfasting this month and walking 20 miles a week or more. My husband who is 5'11 and weighed 150 at our wedding has lost 15 pounds on Atkins in the past 3 weeks and is at 203- so my goal is to get below him AGAIN! :) It'll be nice to be in Onederland together! And I hope you ladies have a great week and shoot for Onederland!!! :)
Great journals Nancy!

You mean, I have sisters?????? I have always wanted a sister--I am an only child! Big Hug to you both (I don't know how type that hug thing!) LOL
I am probably the shortest sister, only 5'3"
I weighed about 140ish when we were married. My whole motivation is that cruise of mine in 10/04, for 10th Anniversary. I want to wear a swimsuit proudly on that ship and on Castaway Cay! And, I want to be below my husband too (hey-that sounded kind of sexual! LOL, I am naughty!), he weighs about 155.

On with my report:
Pretty weird day, very motivated to get the kids stuff sorted and organized..hoping to have a garage sale in a few weeks and our local police dept is accepting donations for sexually abused women and children--great cause to keep me motivated. Alas, all I ate all day was 2 decent sized steaks and a steak-um wrapped in muenster---I don't even know when I ate.
I did not ecxercise any program yesterday, however I was running from the basement to the upstairs all day, so I think I did several stair master routines!

Cravings are gone and I feel better--let me know how you all are doing.

Sunday 7/13

Another crazy day, I ate something or another midday (cannot even remember and was so busy that I didn't keep track, but it was approved :-) Had a grilled chicken salad with greek dressing for dinner--that was it! Did not drink enough water though! No excercise, ugh! On the upside, I am better than halfway through getting this garage sale together...

Monday 7/14

B:none
L: Tuna w/ mayo
D: Polish sausage (okay, 2!) and salad with mushrooms, tomato, green pepper and 2 TBS Italian w/ aged Romano cheese--my favorite dressing ever (made by Ken's steakhouse)
S: Another bowl of yummy salad!

Went to Curves today--my 4th visit. Also, 25 minute walk, while pulling the wagon with 40lb and 30lb kids in the back. That has to count for something!

I am thinking of buying a few more excercise videoes and making an excercise plan for each day--I like schedules. I am thinking WATP and maybe a begiiner Pilates to add to the 4 Richard Simmons I have. I also have that doggone TaeBo--gosh I need to learn that one! I need to get some quicker videoes, for these crazy days when I don't have enough time to devote an entire hour. In the Fall, I will be going to Curves at least 3 times per week, but I would also like to be doing at least 15 minutes at home. It keeps me busy! I hope to take care of this tomorrow.

Mom2Princesses

B-None (I know, I know, I keep skipping it!)
L- Cauliflower mashed with butter, shredded cheese, and cream cheese
D- Meat-Zaa Hamburger flattened onto cookie sheet, cooked with green pepper & mushrooms, and shredded cheese
S-2 slices Muenster with lean ham lunchmeat (3 slices)

Excercise: Curves 30 minutes

Bought the WATP videoes today (came in 3 pack, "For Abs"--with some kind of tool) Haven't looked at it yet, but intend on trying it tomorrow morning. I am coming up with a list of excercises to do on a daily basis, so that every morning I know exactly what I need to be doing!

Tomorrow I weigh in (boy, this second week flew by!) I can end Induction tomorrow, but I have decided to stay with it for a little longer, I have no problems with it so I figure I might as well keep things as they are until I need a change.

Mom2Princesses
07-16-2003, 11:11 PM
B-Slice of ham
L-Grilled Chicken Cobb salad from McDonalds w/ caesar (4g carbs--ugh!)
D-2 hamburger patties w/ cheese and mashed cauliflower with butter, cheese, cream cheese
S-Salad with mushrooms, tomato, feta cheese and italian dressing.

Excercise- WATP 15 minute/1 mile video and Curves workout.

I weighed in today...no weight loss this week! It is frustrating, especially since I lost 10 pounds last week. I have been excercising a lot, which I hope means maybe I am adding muscle which would be why I am not losing? Also, I expect TOM anytime soon. Still, it makes me mad because even a light loss is encouraging!

Still working on my excercise schedule. I hope to try several of my videoes over the next few days to get a feeling for how to place them, which ones to do more often etc.

Mom2Princesses
07-17-2003, 11:38 PM
B-2 slices ham
L-2 hamburger patties w/ cheese
D-Arby's Roast Beef regular roast beef sandwiches, no buns of course, ate 4. (sounds horrible, but it was only the roast beef and adds up to 4 carbs, according to Atkins Carb Counter)

Had my first NON-Water beverage since 7/1/03---One can Diet, caffeine free root beer. It was soooooo yummy!

Excercise: Did the WATP one mile and Curves today. Meant to test out some other videoes, for that schedule of mine, but never got to it.
I am attempting to paint my cathederal walls/ceiling in my foyer and up the staircase. My arms are getting a nice workout from that! This is a project that will take me several days!

Mom2Princesses
07-19-2003, 11:54 PM
Friday July 18
B-2 scrambled eggs with ham & cheese
L-2 slices ham
D-Tuna salad, on bed of lettuce with cukes & tomatoes. Ranch dressing on side
S- a few chocolate kisses (Atkins friendly, of course! Will post recipe on Low carb recipes thread), 3 oz steak

Excercise: 22 minute Ab workout with Richard!

Saturday July 19
B-Slice ham
L- hamburger w/ cheese, hot dog, small portion bean salad, cukes, Atkins friendly cheesecake, more kisses, probably more than I am admitting too! I met up with some fellow WISHers at Kamgen's house for a little WISH meet/barbeque--so much fun!
D-4 oz steak

No excercise program today

Oh, and drank Crystal light today too! I am loving having more than water, but I need to cut back as I am getting too used to passing on the water for something else! Back to pretending there is only water to drink. TOM came yesterday, so let's hope that my weigh-in Wednesday is better than nothing!

Mom2Princesses
07-21-2003, 12:24 PM
B-2 slices ham arapped in 2 slices swiss
L-Went to a baby shower, did great! I thought it would be buffet, but it was sit down style (ugh!). Adjusted the offered meals accordingly. Pork Chop without the apple cinnamon, no whipped potatoes, cauliflower, picked out the carrots. Did not have cake. Drank lots of water!
D-2 boneless Pork chops (again, but that is what I had planned)
S-sugar free jelolo with whipping cream made with Splenda

No excercise (bad me)!

Came up with my excercise plans for nest 6 weeks, it alters everyday, kind of complicated! Will post week one later. I am taking Kamgen (Kamy's) idea, and rewarding myself with something at the end of each week. It will keep me motivated, plus just having it on paper and posting it will keep me focused on what to do when. I feel so organized!

Mom2Princesses
07-21-2003, 10:23 PM
I have finally gotten my schedule together, I have rotated it for the next 6 weeks, which will take me to September 1st. At that time, I hope to be in better shape and upgrade some of the videoes with harder ones. This is pretty aggressive, but I can do it! Also, I took Kamgen (Kamy's) idea, and have assigned an award to each week I successfully complete. Here it is, only week one:

Monday--Broadway Blast Off (25 minutes) and Curves workout (app 35 mins)
Tuesday--WATP 1 mile (15) and Curves
Wednesday--Richard Simmons Ab Formula (20) and Curves
Thursday--WATP 1 mile and Curves
Friday--Tone Up on Broadway (25) and WATP 1 mile
Saturday--Tae Bo Basic (34 min)
Sunday--Broadway SWEAT (1 hr)

In addition, for the first week and in preparation for that Tae Bo Basic, I MUST do the Tae Bo instructional video Monday through Thursday. It is an hour long tape, probably about 35 minutes of actual workout time (lots of explanation). I did it today and boy does it make me sweat!

Also, on any Curves day, if I am unable to make it do to my DH's work schedule, I MUST replace it with the Tae Bo Basic video. That is why I never put Curves with Tae Bo, I could never do it twice in one day!

My reward for week one -- A decorating magazine of my choice. It may sound small, but these magazines are usually $5 or more each and I usually don't buy them unless I am looking for something in particular.

That is my schedule and I am sticking to it!

Mom2Princesses
07-21-2003, 10:39 PM
B-2 slices muenster
L-Couple bites of scrambled egg
D-Pork chop and lettuce and feta cheese salad w/ Italian
S-Jello w/ heavy cream/splenda topping

Exercise: Broadway Blast Off (25 minutes), Curves (approx 35 mins) and Tae Bo Instructional video (60 mins, about 35 minutes of workout time)

I watched Oprah today, it was about miraculous weight losses. I was in tears watching Laura, the Mom of the 4 yr old that took her to WDW and couldn't fit in any of the rides. Having just went to WDW with my girls, and being able to experience it all, I had such a sense of loss for her. However, after she lost her weight, she went back and had a blast! I cannot remember how much weight she had lost, but it was over 100lbs, I know. I have about 75 more to go. I cannot explain it, but I got this overwhelming feeling that I was going to do this. I guess it was the sheer inspiration of her story, and the connection to Disney. My goal is to have it gone by October 2004 for our cruise, and I know I have plenty of time to make it happen, but it is like I could FEEL it. I need to order a copy of that program, in fact I am going to order it tonight. When I get "down" days, it will be the perfect inspiration!

Mom2Princesses
07-22-2003, 11:03 PM
B-2 slices muenster cheese
L-Tuna w/ mayo & celery, slice of swiss cheese
D-Beer Bratwurst (closest I have been to a beer in 3 weeks!);) broccoli with butter
S-Tuna w/ mayo and celery

One Diet Root Beer (and lots of water)

Exercise-- WATP 1 mile, Tae Bo Instructional tape, Curves workout

Good day, weigh in tomorrow, but so far I am holding steady, no gain and no loss. Hopefully tomorrow will show some improvement. I haven't measured inches lately, mainly because I never know where to place the tape, and I never get the same answer twice! I am holding out for August 7th, when Curves measures me for my one month update since I joined. Day 2 of my exercise schedule went great, I think I have a good program, well rounded. But gosh, nothing makes me sweat more than Tae Bo--even just the instructional video!

Mom2Princesses
07-23-2003, 11:12 PM
B-2 slices Muenster cheese
L-Bratwurst and 2 slices Muenster
D-Cubed steak (yuk!) and broccoli w/ butter
S-2 slices swiss cheese

Exercise-- RS Ab Formula video, Curves and Tae Bo Instructional Video

And the best news, weigh in day---- 2 lbs gone! I am at 203. It took that L-Carnitine pill today, the 2nd day. I cannot notice a MAJOR change, but I have a lot of energy, although that may be because I am moving around soooo much more than I used to. Anyway, I hope it is "burning that fat" like it is supposed to be!

Day 3 of my exercise program is complete! BTW, did NOT order the Oprah video, it is $30!!!! I will hold off and hope that they replay it one more time, and I can tape it.

B-None
L-Lobster tail with butter, 2 slices Swiss cheese
D-Grilled steak with sauteed onions and mushrooms

Exercise: ughhhh, Tae Bo Basic video....Even after doing the instructional for one week, I STILL cannot seem to get the moves down, so I wind up adjusting it here and there. I will keep at it though, maybe over the next 6 weeks it will become more familiar.

Mom2Princesses

B-None
L-Wendy's Chicken BLT salad w/ 2 caesar dressings--this was more lettuce than anything, definitely not like the others I have eaten over the past few weeks...disappointing!
D- 2 Italian Sausage links and egg salad (2 eggs w/ mayo)
S- Made an Atkins friendly chocolate mousse, very yum and only 5 carbs total--just had the urge for some chocolate last night!

Exercise---RS Broadway SWEAT, 1 hr tape. First week of my exercise schedule is complete, I get a decorating magazine of my choice! Perfect timing too, because I am looking to decoupage something onto a trunk I just painted, it keeps all of our shoes so that when we take them off at the front door they have somewhere to go.

Will post my exercise schedule for the coming week next, gotta win this one--I get a new pair of shoes! (prbably Payless, but still, it is fun to get shoes!)

Mom2Princesses
07-28-2003, 02:48 PM
Monday WATP 1 Mile (15 mins) and Curves (app 35)
Tuesday Blast Off (25) and Curves
Wednesday WATP 1 Mile and Curves
Thursday AB Formula (20) and Curves
Friday Tae Bo Basic (34)
Saturday WATP 1 Mile and Tone Up (25)
Sunday Broadway SWEAT (1 hr)

Yay, I am not doing that instructional video this week...it didn't even help me with the Tae Bo Basic anyway (maybe a little, but they go way too fast on the Basic tape for me) I ordered the Bellydancing tapes last week, they should be here in several days. I will be trying those ASAP and if I like them better than Tae Bo, I may be replacing Tae Bo....we will see how it works out.

This week reward is a pair of shoes, not expensive or anything, just something fun for the upcoming Fall season.

B-None
L- 3 hard boiled eggs/ mayo (egg salad)
D- 4 slices steak um, 4 slices muenster cheese, w/ sauteed onions and mushrooms

Exercise: WATP 1 Mile and Curves workout

Wednesday will start week 5 of Atkins for me. I have stayed on Induction for 4 weeks now, and am considering moving out of it. I really don't have the URGE for more carbs though, so I am kind of torn. I am just being realisitc, I cannot stay in Induction forever and perhaps I should move a little forward so that I don't get burned out...but I don't feel burned out...ughhhh, I am in a viscious circle!

Mom2Princesses
07-29-2003, 11:48 PM
B-none
L-Large salad, lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, feta cheese and real bacon bits w/ 2 tablespoons italian dressing
D-2 small steaks and cauliflower w/ butter, cream cheese and bacon bits

Exercise---I went above and beyond my program today, did the Broadway Blast Off, Curves and the bonus 1.4 mile mile walk at a pretty brisk (for me, short legged!) walk this evening with my neighbor. She is joining Curves in the Fall, so I will have a buddy!

I think I will be staying on Induction for one more week, that will make it 5 weeks on Induction. Then I will probably move on. I want to make this a lifestyle change, but I don't want to NEVER eat ice cream again in my whole life, so I will need to find the correct balance. But, that is after I reach goal--for right now I am only going to worry about the present and very near future.

Tomorrow is my weigh in day--hoping to hit 3 pounds this week, to get the 15 lb clippie, if not it will DEFINITELY be next week!

Mom2Princesses
07-30-2003, 08:32 PM
B-None (it is a terrible habit that right now I am having a hard time getting rid of!)
L-3 Egg salad (w/ mayo)
D-Meat-zaa, hamburger, mushrooms & cheddar cheese baked--ate way too much though--will not be having a snack this evening!

Exercise: Curves and did the 2 Mile WATP instead of the 1 Mile that was scheduled, first time I did the 2 Mile and it was quite good! A BIG difference from the 1 mile!

The BEST news ever--- I lost 3 lbs this week, which brings my grand total to 15 lbs (notice the new clippie!). I am now at 200 pounds even, and am REALLY looking forward to next week when I hopefully will go into the 190's--"onederland", as my fiend Imhall2000 says! Ahhh, I feel a bit of victory for once!

Also, my bellydancing videoes came in today! Have not yet had a chance to try them, but I hope to tonight or for sure tomorrow! I will post what I think!

L-leftovers from my meatzaa last night, very small portion!
D-one bratwurst and cauliflower w/ cream cheese & butter

Exercise: RS Ab Formula, and Curves. BONUS--Did the Basic Bellydancing video (30 mins) It was very cool, beautiful actually. Those women can dance! Also, went for a 1.4 mile walk with my neighbor again. So, instead of an hour of exercise, I did 2 hours, and guess what? BARELY hungry at all today, actually MADE myself eat dinner at 6:30pm! Exercise does curb the appetite!

I noticed I miscalculated my weeks on Atkins/Induction in my earlier posts. This is Week 5 for me, on both. I had missed a week somehow (probably the week I lost zero, it disappeared from my mind-LOL). So I edited my previous posts to refelct the correct numbers.

Week 1 10lbs lost
Week 2 ZERO (TOM)
Week 3 2lbs lost
Week 4 3lbs lost
Just started Week 5. Just want to clarify that in case it was confusing for anyone (including ME!)

Couldn't even eat until after 3pm today--just no desire! But, I made up for it!

B- 3 egg salad
L- Small leftover salad
D- 2 babyback ribs w/ bbq sauce (ugh!), small chicken breast, broccoli, salad w/ lite italian dressing (ugh!), jello (sugarfree) for dessert

Went to a BBQ at a friends house, and they are low fat eaters. Had not thought to bring my own salad dressing, so I was stuck there. Also, they made ribs, with the sauce on them--tried just 2 pieces but the sauce was VERY loaded with carbs! I did think to bring my own dessert, thank God, they were serving dutch apple pie and low fat ice cream! Apple pie is my favorite pie in the world! But, I managed to say no thank you and was happy with my jello. Not the easiest night, but I managed to stay under 25 carbs for the day, a few over the 20 I am allowed, but I am happy with my choices overall.

Exercise: Tone Up on Broadway tape and I did the bonus 2 Mile WATP tape, instead of the 1 Mile!

Sunday is my last day for Week 2 of my exercise plan, since I am posting this late I already know that I get my reward for this week---a new pair of shoes! I also get to change my exercise clippie to 2 Weeks! Yay for me!

Exercise--Completed my second week of the exercise plan, did my 1 hr Broadway SWEAT tape today

I will post my 3rd week schedule here shortly. I am going to make the decision that I am taking OUT the Tae Bo Basic (cannot stand it) and I will be replacing it with one of my new Bellydancing tapes. I figure that I am TRULY working so hard on this whole thing that I may as well enjoy it--and I do--except that Tae Bo. So, I will probably be selling it at my garage sale in a couple weeks!

Monday: Ab Formula (20mins) and Curves (app 35mins)
Tuesday: WATP 2 Mile (30) and Curves
Wednesday: Tone Up (25) and Curves
Thursday: Blast Off (25) and Curves
Friday: WATP 2 Miles and Ab Formula
Saturday: 2 of the Bellydancing Videoes (1 hr total)
Sunday: Broadway SWEAT 1 hr

I adjusted the original this week, I have upgraded to the 2 Mile WATP video instead of the 1 Mile, it just is not challenging enough anymore. I also took out the Tae Bo, and replaced it with 2 Bellydancing videoes. I just don't care for the Tae Bo, it goes too fast and I never feel like I am doing it correctly. It is not enjoyable, but the bellydancing is! I did the first basic moves tape, and really enjoyed it. As a bonus this week, I will be testing out the others before Saturday, so I know which ones to pick then.

I have a busier than normal week coming up...almost everyday has a different odd thing that I have to go to or host, so this will probably be the biggest challenge for me so far---especially Saturday when we have an annual Pig Roast to go to with about 150 or more dishes! But, I will deal with it all one day at a time, and if it means I am exercising at midnight, well than so be it!

Exercise: Ab Formula tape and Curves...plus a lot of shopping! (Hey, it's a work out for the checkbook if nothing else!)

I also went to a, um...ur...ah...shall I say ADULT party this evening (don't ask, don't tell is my motto!) and I resisted the alcohol (in many forms) and the cake/pies! I cannot believe I am making through these events with no cheating--I am quite proud!

Must be PMS'ing early, was craving chocolate today and just some carbs in general, also was very tired (did not sleep well last night) and kind of had no energy. I tried to compensate and have more protein, but it did not seem to boost me at all! Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day, especially since it is my weigh in day!

L-made my own Low Carb Spinich Pie, it was very good! Ate 2 of 4 portions
D-Roast Beef (and plenty of it!)
S--ohhhh do I have to list it all? Couple bites of Atkins Advantage Bar Chocolate Decadence (very good), 2 slices ham w/ cream cheese wrapped inside, 1 oz Macadamia nuts & 2 8oz servings of Crystal light--this was all throughout the course of the day!

Exercise: Tone Up on Broadway tape...had to deviate from the exercise plan a bit today as I could not get to curves today. DH and I had to move ALL the furniture/toys etc out of our girls room and make it all fit in our room, then we pulled up the carpeting in the girls rooms, hallway, and down the stairs. We are still working on getting all the staples out of the stairs, our new carpet comes sometime Friday! So, I was unable to make it to Curves--but I did do the Bellydancing Fat Burning Video in it's place this evening, as tired as I was! So, since I replaced it with a pretty good workout, I am counting it as a regular day of exercise today. Tomorrow will be my measurementt day at Curves.

Today was my weigh in day, I was down one pound this week, putting me (for the 1st time in a few years) into "Onederland" --199 lbs, a total of 16 lost since I started Atkins/WISH!!!!

I wish TOM and PMS would stop affecting my hunger in this way! I cannot believe how hungry PMS makes me, and then next week TOM will make me tired! I am going to try the old "Mind Over Matter" routine and try to ignore it!

B-Leftover Spinach Pie (2 "pizza slices")
L-Leftover roast beef sliced thin over 2 slices Muenster Cheese melted (YUM!)
S-3 bites of Atkins Advantage Coconut something or another bar--it was the BEST Atkins Bar I have had yet!
D-A new dish I tried, ground sausage, half slice bacon, 1 egg and a sprinkle of cheese baked in the oven for about 20 mins. You cook them in a muffin pan. 1st the sausage, then wrap bacon around sides, then throw the egg on top. All ingredients are raw when placed in muffin pan, bake at 350 for 20-30 mins. I had 3 "muffins", and my DH liked them too!

Exercise: Broadway Blast Off and Curves.

Definitley still hungry, having a hard time supressing the twinge/urge whatever for something to eat. It's like I all of a sudden want to graze all day instead of eat 2 meals plus snack (BTW, that is ALWAYS how I have eaten for years, even when I was making terrible choices, I was still NEVER grazing).

I kind of think I am getting too many choices. Maybe I should try to stay bored or indifferent to the food. I have been trying new recipes and adding the Atkins bars or DeLite Chocolate here and there. Everyone says NOT to get bored, but when I was starting to get a little bored is when I was actually eating LESS. Now I am getting excited to eat again:mad:

Ahhh, it WILL get better, this I must believe!

Went to Curves this morning for my one Month Check. I started at Curves about 6 days into my Atkins program, so these results are compared to July 7th rather than July 2nd:

July 7 August 8
Bust 48.5 now 47
Waist 41.5 now 39
Abdomen 47 now 44
Hips 47.75 now 44.5
Thighs 27.75 & 27.5 now 26.25 & 26.75
Arms 15.25 & 15.5 now 14.75 & 15

Weight 211.4 now 201.8 (don't like their scale, I am a solid 199 at home, and I am keeping it! LOL)

Body Fat 43.1% now 41.4%

So, that is a total loss of 9.6 pounds
A total Body Fat los of 1.7%
And a total inch loss of 13.5

I am quite pleased with the results! Imagine, if I have similar results for this next month, I will have lost 26 or so inches by September 8th!!!

B-2 of those egg/sausage/bacon things
L-2 slices ham w/ 2 slices muenster melted
D-McDonalds Grilled Chicken Caesar salad w/italian dressing

Exercise-Well, I blew it! We had carpeting installed that morning, I had to move all the kids stuff back into their rooms, organize the new play room, plus I had carpet installers at my house for a few hours. I had to get ready for the pig roast the next day (making several new dishes) etc. So, when I finally got some time in the evening I was just too exhausted to exercise. I was hoping to "make it up" the following day--but Saturday was harder than Friday. So, no prize this week.

D- We went to the 7th Annual Pig Roast that we go to every year today. I did not eat before getting there because I knew how easy it would be to overeat and was too busy that day to make food anyway. Here is what I had (and yes, it involves my FIRST cheat in the 6.5 weeks of Atkins!)

Pork (duh, it IS a pig roast!)
Beef (they rotisserie it over a grill, it is delicious!)
Cauliflower Salad (the "fake" potato salad dish I made)
BLT Salad (the other dish I made)
Orange/Pineapple individual cheesecake (also Atkins friendly that I made)
AND...
one fabulous, wonderful, melt in your mouth slice of Carmel-Apple Cheesecake!

I was not intending on cheating, that is why I made three (count them 3!) dishes that I could have, plus the meats were safe too. However, I just saw that cheesecake and knew that I had to cheat, it combined all my favorites--cheesecake and apple cinnamon and carmel! So, one slice did the trick and I ate nothing else the rest of the evening. Not bad, considering the party is like 10 hours long!

If I sound happy that I cheated I am NOT, but I am happy with my overall choices, there were an easy 75 dishes that I passed on that I could have had that would have made the day horrible!
Plus, I did not even have one drink!

Exercise--Considering I left the house at 12:30 pm and got home at 1:30 am, I did not exercise my program today. I did do 1 mile of the WATP 2 mile walk, but did not get the rest of my plan in at all. I blew it this week!

oh, and, I had my first alcohol tonight since I started Atkins on 7/2/03--3 Michelob Ultra Light Beers, 2.6 carbs each! But, boy did they taste great! (Less filling, tastes great...could not help myself!)

Exercise: WATP 2 Mile

Fruit is NOT my friend--I gained a lb this weekend, although it doesn't count until Wednesday, my weigh in day, so I will be busting my butt to get down at least 2 lbs by then so I can claim a one lb loss! S-Went to a Tastefully Simple Party last night, they sell lots of sauces, seasonings, breads, soups etc--all mixes that you prepare. I had been to one a few years ago, so I knew what to expect. I did very good, I tried all the dips made with mayo/sour cream, I did not try the sweet stuff, or the breads, or the cakes. I did not have any crackers either. I dipped these air puffed vegetable sticks into all the dips, definitley had carbs in them but they were made from veggies so they were probably the best choice. I found out where to buy them and am hoping to go get a look at the bag today or tomorrow to see exactly how good/bad they were. I bought some bacon seasonings, spinach seasoning and a Fiesta seasoning (very spicy). I can make dips from mayo and sour cream from these plus use them on meat or in salads.

Not too hungry today, drank quite a bit of water too! But boy does this exercise get me down! Thank you so much for the votes of confidence! It is exciting, really exciting, although a little bit scary too! I am sooooo close to my Associates degree and just a few classes short of transferring to a University that it is almost overwhelming. I am going into Elementary Education--torn between a Major in Math not sure I can remember the math from 10 years ago) which will make me a more "marketable" teacher or Language Arts (my true passion, and I am very good in this area as well!) which will not make me as "marketable". I have time to look into this, so I do not need to make any decisions right away.

I also need to figure out how to fit a new exercise schedule into my busy life--I think that may take me a few weeks! Thanks again, I am truly among "friends" on these boards!

Okay, okay...I really blew it! Friday was okay, a couple of salads and a few bites of a hot fudge sundae. Not the best choice, but it was only 4 bites, so I could live with that. Saturday, I went to Taco Bell for the first time since I started Atkins, made decent choices there too. (except for the **** taco salad shell that I ate too much of!) Then...came Sunday....

We went to stay the night in a fun resort with lots of indoor stuff to do--pools, games, play areas etc. They had an all you can eat buffet--Mexican! Did I mention I love Mexican food??? Well, I ate it--and I mean ALL of it, tortilla shells, beans, all of it! I felt so sick leaving the restaraunt that I thought I would puke. I am not sure if it was the shock of the carbs or the shock of really overeating for the 1st time in ages, or maybe the guilt of it all--but I blew it big time and continued to blow it the next morning, when I proceeded to eat some hush puppies and a pancake at an all you can eat breakfast buffet!

Couple all that with no real exercise for the past few days and know what you get??? A FIVE pound gain!!!!!

So, here I go, I am back on the wagon again today--drinking a lot of water, hopefully flushing out the water I gained and I am trying to fast today as well, my weigh in is tomorrow!

Is it possible to lose it by tomorrow morning??? I doubt it, but we will see!

Well, I did much better than last weekend--much! I ate on target on Friday, did have one "hobo" pie (2 slices bread) on Saturday--all else was fine, and had one slice of bread today, Sunday.

It helped that there was a true inspiration there with me, a friend of a friend, so to speak (we camp with them a few times per year). Well, I last saw her about a year ago, and since then she has lost 73 POUNDS!!!! So, we walked and drank water together! How perfect! I will also be seeing her in 2 weeks.

I weighed myself when we got home and it seemed fine, will do a real check tomorrow morning and make sure!

Tomorrow is busy, Kindergarten in the a.m., Gymnastics in the afternoon and my class at night--so I hopefully won't have much time to eat! LOL!

And thanks, Doe, your positive thoughts must have helped guide me this weekend! Can you keep them up for our camping trip this coming weekend--it is a Halloween theme (ugghhh!) ;)

Everything is going okay, still munching on a few "bad" things, but overall I am keeping up with all new demands--school, kids stuff, exercise and eating.

I made it to Curves one day this week, am hoping to make it tonight too! I am camping again this weekend, so I am preparing for that!

I did get my Curves 2 Month results today:

Bust 45.75
Waist 38.5
Abdomen 43
Hips 44
Thighs 26 (both)
Arms 14 & 14.25
Weight 193.6 (with jeans on)

Lost this month 5.75 inches, 8.2 lbs
Total to date (at Curves) 19.25 inches and 17.8 lbs

Next month, I should be joining the 20/20 vlub (20 lbs and or inches lost)

Now that is some motivation for me to get moving and get better on track than I have been the last couple weeks!

For the rest of my life, typing that date will cause me pain! My grandfather died 2 years ago, not related to the attacks, and then several hours later the whole world went crazy--truly the worst day of my life, which I know many many other people share for completely different reasons. God Bless the U.S.A.

Anyway..... on with the show here....

B-Atkins Cinnamon Breakfast bar
L-couple of crackers (bad), slices of cheese, piece salami
D-Sizzling Shrimp PLatter at our local Chinese restaraunt. 1st time we have had Chinese since I started Atkins 7/2. What an excelllent choice, too. I don't have nutritional info, but nothing was breaded and I opted for no rice, and the gravy was light so I think it was pretty good!

Didn't make it to Curves--out to eat then had to go pick up our camper----and here is the weekend!

I cannot believe John Ritter died! I am sitting here in shock as I hear our local news talk about it! I am 31 years old, so I completely LOVED 3's company, and I also loved that 8 simple rules. Plus we watch Clifford a lot--John Ritter was so awesome!
And he was only 54, I hope is family is okay! Gosh, it makes me so sad---he was just so young! This day is going to be a downer, I can just tell--I better prepare for saying NO to comfort foods right now!

Nancy, I'm sending {{ hugs }} your way!! You sound a bit down with everything that's going on. At least you're aware of your tendency toward comfort foods at these times and you're making an effort to still eat healthy. Be careful about all those "little cheats" because they can undermine your healthy way of eating. However, even on your cheat days I bet you're eating way less carbs than you used to, so you're still being good to yourself!!

I will keep you in my thoughts this weekend during your camping trip. I hope the weather is good where you're going. Make good choices!!

The first of 2 Halloween Camping weekends is over, and I did pretty okay. I had 2 "fun size" candy bars yesterday and one slice of wheat bread today, but other than those two cheats--I stayed on track!

exercise, of course, did not happen--except for a lot of walking to the parks etc with my kids.

I also managed to read up to chapter 2 in Dr Phil's book. The more I read, the more I love what I am reading. Once I get to the eating and exercise portion of the book and do ALL the questions etc, I will decide whether I want to switch to his plan or just use the keys and stay on Atkins for a while longer. From what I have seen in the back of the book (I did glance at it!), his eating plan is a low fat AND low carb diet--only eat the "good" carbs that is! There is an allowance for low fat crackers and cereals though, which would be great for me! Again, I am not sure what to do--Atkins would be easier in a way, but Dr Phil's approach would be better for the long term.....still, his way of getting real with everything is the best approach--if I can label my thoughts in a way to replace them with better thoughts I may not even reach for the high carbs or high fats anymore at all!

Okay, tomorrow I start journaling EVERYTHING I eat again, I have gotten out of that habit over the last few weeks. So, if it is not listed here tomorrow, I will catch up and list it soon thereafter! It is all about accountibility!

I'm glad things went well, Nancy! I'll be checking in to see all the healthy food you'll be eating!! No matter which eating plan you choose, I think being AWARE of the food you eat is half the battle. You will probably never go back to eating the way you used to and that is a good thing!!

B-3/4 Cup of Honey Bunches of Oats w/ 1/2 Cup Skim Milk
S-banana
L-Salad w/ italian dressing
D-spaghetti sauce w/ gound beef, about 1 cup total
S-2 teddy graham cookies (the small ones, just popped them into my mouth when I should not have!)

Exercise--25 Minute Tone Up on Broadway tape

Well, I decided to give the Dr Phil approach a quick try. I am not necessarily sure that I will keep it, but I am going to try it for several days and see how I like it. Oddly, I have not made it to the part of the book that really explains how to eat yet, but I kind of have a good idea of what is "right" and what is "wrong", so I went with that.

I worked like crazy on that Dr Phil book today, I am almost half way through now. I am hoping to journal some of my overall revelations from the book here over the next few days.

Tomorrow, my youngest starts preschool so I will be going to Curves 2 days a week now, for sure! Yay! Plus, I am starting to research some home gym equipment for my Christmas present this year. I am trying to get this exercise foolproof!!!!!

B-none
L-salad and several grapes
D-1.5 chicken breasts, small portion beets and a few slices of watermelon

exercise: Curves

So busy today, cannot believe I am still awake! I am looking into that gym equipment, so confusing! I have finished the "keys" to Dr phil's book---boy do I have a lot of information to help me now. I am actually just about done with the book--but I have several things to do to start really applying it all. Mainly, I need to schedule exercise into my life, go grocery shopping, step up my exercise...many, many more things....

Oh my gosh! I lost 5 lbs this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I weighed in at 188 today! I have not seen the 180's in probably 8 years or so!

I am liking this Dr Phil plan----although I have not incorporated all his suggestions yet---I want to start writing down what I will eat the day before and then ONLY eat from that list---that is a great idea!

So, that brings my WISH total to 27lbs!!!!
I feel renewed and empowered!

WOW!! 5 pounds gone - WOOHOO!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Sounds like you're really getting a lot out of Dr. Phil's book! Just be careful to not try to make too many changes at once and get overwhelmed. I know it's hard - I always want to make all these wonderful changes at one time and then I wonder why I get depressed when I'm not successful!

Keep up the good work on the way to a healthier you!!

B-half a banana
L-2 slices rye bread, one TB lite mayo, and 4 slices low fat chicken lunchmeat
D-Hamurger on a wheat bun, cottage cheese, usweetened applesauce (that tasted incredibly sweet!)

Exercise-none. But I have implemented one of Dr Phil's suggestions. I now park VERY far from my destination--everywhere I go. I am hoping that this gives me an extra hour per week of walking that I don't even get to "count". And trust me, when I go to school, parking far away from my classroom is REALLY far! When I go to Curves, I take the absolute last parking space, at my daughters' school the same thing, shopping etc.....it all will add up!

Thursday 9/18/03 thru Sunday 9/21/03

A good few days, kept well to the plan and the portion sizes. I was able to go to a party yesterday and bypass the sweets and go straight to the fruit, which was nice!

No real exercise (bad, bad!), but I did stay busy a lot. Still, this is something I REALLY got get moving with, it makes such a differentce on weigh in day!

I ordered a new computer on Saturday (Dell). I am so excited because I have not bought a computer since 1997!!!! I will have all the newest techie stuff on the new one--how fun.

Okay, back to getting this food written down EVERYDAY!!!!!!
