We are going to spend 3 nights in the Clearwater or St. Petersburg beach area. I have found this place and am wondering if anyone has been there?
There are a total of 3 resorts there the Grande, Sirata, or the Sandpiper. And they seem expensive but I can get the Entertainment club rate so it makes it a little more reasonable. but need some advice! Is it worth is?

Sorry I can't tell you for sure about the property but I will be staying at the Grand Island Resort in July. It was recommended by fellow DIS members on the DVC board and the website looked pretty nice.
When do you plan to go? I will let you know how it was when I get back.

We aren't going till Nov. over Thanksgiving weekend.
Did you get a good rate? If you have the entertainment book you can get 50% off rack rate.

I got a 50% off rate too! I was a former flight attendant and took and early retirement and they still honored that. I got a luxury 1 BR overlooking the gulf for 179.00 per night. I thought that was pretty good considering what the full rate was.
I 'll let you know how it was.

I grew up in st.pete, and my dad does contract work for the trade winds. I think it is a great resort, they have a river that runs through the main building. It has been many years since I have been there. But, my sister stayed there last year and said it was VERY nice. She did request a room in the recently renovated area. They are constantly renovating, this place is huge!

I supsect the $$$ will be worth it. St Pete's beach has alot of dives. We stayed for free at a just barely ok place - and even that was valued at around $100/night - a Travelodge! If we went back on our own dollar, we would spend some serious $$$ to stay somewhere really nice.
This is in stark contrast to the WDW area - where we will never pay lots and lots - there is so much really nice stuff available for a reasonable rate.
If you are doing a combined trip - St. Petes and Disney - and you want to save $$$ on accoms - I would recommend extending your accomodation $$ on St. Petes and looking for deals in Orlando. You'll come out better overall.

After months of deciding, this place sounds great! Since I have never been to FL (except when I was 12) it has been a difficult decision to decide which beach to go to. This place has me sold. However we leave in 7 days, so I will see tonight how much and availability, wish me luck!

We are staying here for three nights before going to Disney. It will be our first time to the Gulf coast. I have been looking at this hotel for the last two years and have finally convinced my hubby to spend a few days here. This resort was also recommended to me by a friend. I'm sure we won't be disappointed.

You will enjoy this Hotel! We have been twice... had a wonderful week in January 2000 and 4 days after Disney in June 1999. There is a 12.00 resort fee, but it is well worth it! It includes the paddleboats, water trikes, beach cabanas, and many other fun things for adults and kids to do. They have a nice casual restrurant (Flying Bridge?) that is great for a quick bite. We ate at a Seafood place about 1 mile south of the property called Crabby Bills that the whole family enjoyed. Had great seafood and rumrunners! The beach is wonderful, the dolphins swim past every day! We hardly ever left the property there is so much to do so I don't know about other places to see on St. Pete Beach. The hammocks near the beach are great in the evenings... There was a private party one night near the main pool and they had a fireworks display! The kids were thrilled! Let me know if you need any more info.

yes, I believe it is Tradewindsresort.com
Don't forget to use the entertainment rate if you have the Disney Club.

I can only echo what tgr116 says. I visited there a few weeks back and was very impressed. The rooms were good - quite spacious and tropical-feeling - and the resort facilities are first class. Good service, superb location and lots to do. Enjoy!
