This little nugget was reported this morning (6/26) on broadway.com:
---
Earlier this week, there was a New York reading of Disney's new musical Tarzan. The cast included James Barbour, Christopher Fitzgerald, Kendra Kassebaum, Don Mayo, Cass Morgan, Matthew Morrison, Adam Pascal, Mark Price, Roger Rees, William Ullrich, and Joe Wilson, Jr. The Tarzan creative team includes Bob Crowley (director-designer), Meryl Tankard (choreographer; credits include the London production of The Beautiful Game), Phil Collins (score), and David Henry Hwang (book).

Some observations....
James Barbour is a former Broadway Beast.
David Henry Hwang did the revised book for the recent revival of Flower Drum Song.
I assume Kendra Kassebaum is Jane. Is she English?

Didn't Adam Pascal just finish up a long run with Evita?

personally, I'm not a big fan of the movie Tarzan, so that's why I like the show so much :)

David Henry Hwang did the revised book for the recent revival of Flower Drum Song.
He is also a Tony award-winning playwright (M. Butterfly), whose themes often focus on immigrants in unfamiliar surroundings. Sounds like a good fit for Tarzan.
I wasn't to happy with Tarzan rocks either. But it was better than the Jungle Book show. That one was the WORST!!!!! I would love them to make a Hunchback show on broadway. It was great at MGM and it would be wonderful on broadway.

Hunchback actually was put onto the stage. They did a production in Germany, but they had no plans of bringing it to the States. The cast recording is available at Footlight Records, and Colony Music.

Wasn't this the same production that played at the Paris hotel in Las vegas? I heard that the score is pretty amazing !!!

No, not the same at all.
Notre Dame de Paris played at the Paris, France in Vegas. You're right. The score is AMAZING. I can't recall the composer's off hand, but Celine Dion recorded one of the songs on her album "All The Way" called Live. (that's the verb...not the adjective). You can get the CD for that one almost anywhere.
The Hunchback that played Germany is actually Disney's version; the Alan Menken/Stephen Schwartz one. The CD for this one is harder to find because not only is it a showtunes CD (which are usually in limited supply), but it's also an import.
