I am trying to drink more water in my determination to lose some weight. I have bottled water but was also wondering if 8 oz. of Crystal Lite is the same as a glass of water. It has no carbs, etc. in it. Sometimes I would prefer drinking this over water.
Thanks for reading my silly questions.

Well it IS just flavored water, right? As long as it doesn't add too many calories/sugar, go for it! I don't know for sure, or what you're drinking now during the day instead of water, but if you want to lose weight, exercise has to be a big part of it too. Good luck!

Watch the caffeine in some flavors.

I didn't think of the caffeine part thanks!!
Thanks on the exercise part too! I am on that track too. I am cutting down on my carbs and I am doing a long walk followed by taebo each day. So far 2 lbs. down. My goal is 35 pounds and I then get to go to Disney for celebration!!

Good luck with your weight loss!
I can't drink that much water unless it's really, really hot.
Now 6-8 Diet Cokes.... that is a daily routine for me.
I know, I know Mom..... it's a bad habit that needs to be broken.
Maybe next year. ;)

You might want to post on the WISH board too.
In Weight Watchers, when you are supposed to drink 6 - 8 ounce glasses of water a day, 3 must be water but 3 can be 0 calorie, non-caffeinated beverages like diet gingerale or Crystal Light.

This might be bad.......
ALL I have had to drink today (and I am still working on it) is one 16.9 ounce coke. I am thinking I am not drinking enough fluids :)

I don't know about you, but I can never drink 8 glasses a day. I just dont' have the time or I kept forgetting. I feel better though. And I always drink a big glass first thing in the morning. It really helps.

Drink a bit all day long. It makes it go down easier. Always keep water near. I have cases of bottled water and just grab a bottle every hour or so. You will drink more than you know
I just love to drink. 08-50 snf I'm on my tjrod pint (water).

I drink a gallon of water every day - love the stuff!
Try a lemon or lime slice to spritz it up a bit! :)

We started a water club at the office and have bottled water delivered. I drink A LOT of water each day.
I'm a big fan of the Crystal Light too. Every now and then I mix in a splash of Club Soda for a treat... :)

I have at least 88oz a day - usually closer to 132oz. I go down to the cafeteria first thing in the mornings, fill up my 44oz with ice water (which is better to drink when dieting, BTW), and it is usually gone by 11. So, filler up again. Gone by 2 or so. One more fill. Finish it by 430.
I have lost a total of 26 pounds, doing nothing more than smaller portions, walking about 45 minutes a day (break and lunch hour), and lots of water.

I used to drink diet cokes, Crystal lite, flavored water, ect.
Never lost any weight! They always left me thirsty and I would drink more.
I started drinking approx. a gallon and a half of water a day, 1 & half years ago.
In eleven months I lost 104 lbs!
I do drink 1 cup of coffee in the morning (very little sugar), and I will drink a regular coke maybe once every three weeks, usually as a dessert.
During my weight loss I did eat as I normally do, which leads me to believe that water is the way to go!
I still drink about a gallon a day and maintain my weight with no problem.
I also found that after about 1 mo. into my drinking water consistantly, that you get used to it, and you crave the water. Then coke & sugared drinks feel like they gum you up, make you extra thirsty, then you'll run to get a glass of water.
Before you attempt to drink this much water a day, talk to your doctor.
If you have kidney or bladder problems, this might not work for you.
My doctor said it was fine for me. :D

I find that drinking soft drinks or Crystal lite causes me to retain fluid, so I just stick to water. I retain fluid anyway but not nearly as much as when I drink Crystal Lite.

I drink a LOT of fluids, but I try to be sure most of it is water. I never go more than a couple of hours without drinking something.

I love to drink water, but unfortunately I am limited due to a bladder problem that I have had since I was 16. It is in a sort of remission and I haven't had any treatments since I was about 19 years old, but if I drink too much I end up having to go to the bathroom ALL the time. Then if I hold it a little too long, my bladder will be in pain for about 24 hours.
The way it is explained is that if my bladder gets too full it hemorages (lightly). It makes my bladder really sore.
I do try to drink alot though, and some days I do pretty well. I could never drink as much as some people do.
I have been bad the past few days though, and I do need to increase my water. Especially since the weather is so hot right now!

I have 2 methods that help me drink the amount of water I should be drinking every day (80 oz.):
* I either fill a water jug (the kind you can carry around) with the recommended amount of water and make it a goal to drink it by the end of the day (I work in an office, so I take it with me); or
* I fill 5 16 oz. water bottles with filtered water and make sure I drink them all by the end of the day.
Another comment about water...prior to my making an effort to drink more water, I used to have frequent shoulder and neck pain or tension. I've noticed that ever since I started drinking more water, I rarely have the pain and tension anymore.

Make sure whatever fluid you drink is de caf. I was drinking regular Crystal Light Ice tea and thought that was ok for some of my water, since I switched to the decaf icetea I see a difference in how I feel and weight loss. I also drink only decaf hot tea now too.
Another WW tip for drinking water is to use a straw....sounds stupid, but for some reason, you tend to drink more if you use a straw. I NEVER drank plain water until I started WW and now I get in more than their 6 glasses a day. The one week I wasn't drinking a lot of water I lost no weight, the next week when I resumed the water I lost over 5...it really helps flush out the system.

Well, I'm about to run and get my refillable Typhoon Lagoon mug. It's huge, and reminds me of my "Happy Place" ;) No better way to get your water!

I never used to drink water!!! I drank anything but!! When I started getting serious about being healthy I decided that I had to MAKE myself drink the water for this to work so i have a self imposed rul. I am allowed 1 drink of something else in the morning such as hot tea, coffee hot chocolate or juice (milk does not count in this rule. I am allowed to drink if wanted) before all my water is gone for the day. NO ICE TEA OR POP until at least 64 ounces of water is in for the day. That was when I started now I drink at least 100 ounces a day and do not even blink!! Most days more and often I will choose water over all else!!! I even LIKE it!!! It took some getting used to but I am happy to say I LIKE WATER!!!!

My secret is flavored seltzer water. No calories or carbs and I can trick myself into thinking it's soda

Jenzebelle reminded me of something I tried (from Costco) that I liked a lot called "Diet Ice." It is flavored seltzer water (I'm not a big fan of plain seltzer water) in a variety of flavors, and almost no calories, and no or low carb. I think it's great if you are used to drinking carbonated beverages.

Has anyone heard the new findings? That too much water is not only not necessary, but can be harmful??
Apparently the idea of 64 oz of water a day was based on the fact that a body needs 1cc (or milliliter) of water per kcal of their diet (or some weird formula) in order to sustain your basal metabolic functions, but in the original release of this information they left off the final comment on the recommendation "Most of this water can be found in the foods you eat." For example, broccoli is something like 75% water, bread is 35% water, watermelon is...well A LOT of water...
Anyway, they are saying now that drinking TOO much water can throw you into a low sodium state in your blood and cause worse problems (seizures, etc)
I've read this twice recently from different sources.
Just reporting the new study....YMMV

Here's what helps me.....
Drink a glass of ice water/with lemon- the first thing as I'm getting up.
Drink a glass with my breakfast.
Drink a glass with my lunch.
Drink a glass with a splash of cranberry (2-3 tablespoons) or grape juice in it for an afternoon pick me up.
Drink a glass with dinner
Drink a glass before I go to bed.
My glasses hold 12 ounces with ice so this gets me enough each day. When you break it down it really doesn't seem like that much! :)
ENJOY!!!
