Hello! I'm a newbie...just booked the FTP to stay at CBR (check out my cool lingo--ha ha!).

I have a question that I think only YOU can answer for me. I am a weight watcher and I am not comfortable strutting my stuff in just my bathing suit. I've never been to a Disney water park; it sounds like y'all are really comfortable, and I'm hoping I will be too. I do not want to scare children. Is it okay to wear a T-shirt AND shorts over my bathing suit at WDW water parks? Can I wear this and go on rides? I'm not planning on doing the human-rocket type rides, just the slow slides and tube rides.

Thank you for helping me. :D

You sure could wear a long T-shirt over your bathing suit. You might want to skip wearing the shorts in the water (I know on some slides they don't want shorts with buckles or zippers) I won't be going to any of the water parks (except for Stormalong
Bay at the Beach Club, and Castaway Cay!) I plan on wearing one of my beach cover-ups and then bite the bullet and go into the water in my bathing suit! You should do what's comfortable for you.

Hi hannacanna, welcome to the DIS and a very special welcome to WISH.

I've never experienced one of the water parks but I imagine it is alright to wear a t-shirt and/or shorts over your suit.

I was brave enough to use the Dolphin pool in May and I wore a really large gauzy cotton shirt as a cover up. I think it was a size 3x. It comes down to my knees and has 3/4 length sleeves. I took it off when I got in the water but it was a great cover up for walking through the hotel to the pool :)

I'm glad you asked this question. I hope you will be visiting us more often, perhaps after your trip? We have a lot of WW members and you would be a terrific addition to our support group :)

I have seen people at the water parks wearing t-shirts and elastic waist shorts. There are ALL shapes and sizes, ALL types of bathing costumes imaginable! You just go in whatever you are comfortable wearing and have a great time! :) I have a friend who wore some thin material elastic waist shorts when we were in the lazy river because she does not like to be in public in her suit, and nobody gave her any funny looks.

I don't know if you can wear the shorts on some water slides, but if the slide is the raft or tube kind, then you should be ok because your bottom wouldn't be touching the slide anyway (just the raft!) :)

ENJOY!!! I hope you have a fabulous time! Which water park are you leaning towards (or are you going to both?) I love Typhoon Lagoon. It's so tropical and the lazy river there is just like being in paradise!!! :)

Hi And Welcome to Wish...and the DIS boards!! I was just at Blizzard Beach 2 weeks ago...and there were plenty of people all different shapes and sizes wearing shirts and shorts.

Some people have an allergy to the sun and have to wear a shirt while bathing. I say do whatever you feel comfortable in....but make sure that you GO!! You wont regret wearing a shirt...but you will regret NOT going!!!

Have Fun!!

oh, goodness--thanks, everyone! my mind is 100% at ease! it's so nice to know that i can wear whatever (non-metal) i want...i have a pair of shorts that i think are specifically for swimming or washing the car or something--i bought them at target last season. they are elastic waist in a high-tech fabric. i think they'll serve me well! i haven't been swimming in like 3 years, because of my embarrasment. i figure at WDW, i probably won't see any of those people again so why not go all out (literally--ha ha)!

i am leaning towards, well....BOTH PARKS now! i want to swim with the fishies at TL and i am dying to see the themeing at BB.

i've been lurking around Dis the past few days. i am definately going to be here a lot and hopefully give y'all a trip report once i return!

thanks again. i really appreciate your taking the time to help me. i REALLY REALLY can't wait now! i'm leaving sept 13th! i want to make my 10% ww goal by then and i have 19 lbs to go...weigh in is tonight. my main goal is to look better in my photos than i did during the daytrip i took to MK in 2000. this trip is going to be great...my confidence will be up and my self-image will be much better. thanks again!

You can do it Hanna!!! It sounds like you have the right attitude and you sound so positive...how can you not reach your goal. If you decide to join Wish...we can help support you in reaching that goal...and who knows...maybe you will beat your goal!! That has been known to happen around here. Whatever you decide...Best of Luck...and we are here if you need us!!

Oh good I am so glad to hear this! I'd feel so much more comfortable if I can wear a tshirt over my bathing suit. Thanks for asking this question hanna!

There are many one piece bathing suits that are actually a tank top and shorts (but attached) I ALWAYS wear a T-shirt over my suit; a whole day of Florida sun reflected off of concrete can be brutal, plus I don't want to worry about anything popping out!
