Manatee Santuary Park

Many have had interest in seeing the manatees in the "wild" - at one time they could be seen off Center Street in Cape Canaveral, but unfortunalty this area is now being turned into a condo complex - I had the opportunity to check out a park that just recently opened and located right in back of the Radisson - as I expressed on one thread, I checked it out and found it to be very nice - I did speak with the mayor and he told me that there is still quite a bit more to add besides the broadwalk that is already there - picnic area, bathrooms etc will be added soon - to find this park, it is very simple - the road that goes between Zackery and the fun center is called W Central Street - you go exalty 2/10th of a mile and turn left on Thrum Road - at 1/10th of a mile, it can not be missed - it is on the right side and has a sign - I did see manatees and they were active - I found the area very peaceful.
I hope that this will help those interested in seeing them - I know the children would be thrilled.

We've been to this boardwalk and it's nice because it gives you a bit of an elevated view. Didn't see any manatees the day we were there though. It was a bit breezy and cool and I supsect they were hanging out somewhere warmer. We did see two from our verandah after we boarded while the ship was still tied up. Nobody looks around the port much once they are onboard; too busy seeing the ship and doing the ressie shuffle. But, you might get lucky so keep your eyes open.

the day Norm and I went to the park was a super day out - not in the middle of the day heat - I understand tho by the time this park is finished, it is going to be really nice - you can even go to the edge of the water - I did
