hubby has announced that we are cutting down the four cherry trees this fall........first it was the 50 cedar waxwing birds that helped devour our cherry trees.....then it was the fungus that they brought with them and deposited on our trees....so each spring after the blossoms fall.....we have to spray to keep the fungus under control.....and then the caterpellers found us this year and some other ungodly bug ....little black bibbets....so he said this is it.....they are out of here.......now we are talking about 18 foot high bings and montmorency.....and then the stellas........one of the trees is very very tall and we can't get the nets over them any more......big big sigh......those are out of here and so are the blueberry bushes.....we will keep the pear tree and see how it does.......still have the 12 beautiful lilacs and the ever blooming old rose bush......(now why can't that one be gone) :-)
Oh Pumba I feel your pain. DH cut down the peach trees this spring. They grew beautiful peaches, but we never got to eat any. The squirrels would sit in the trees and they would feast, and they feast and they feast until there was not a peach left. Lot of pits under the tree though.
He tried everything even a dino, but that another story.

How sad! I'm sure you feel just awful. I feel awful from this side of the computer. I love fruit trees. Maybe there is a pest-resistant variety you can replace them with? And a smaller tree is more manageable as far as netting etc.

I remember you telling us about your cherry trees last year, Marie. I'm sorry they have to go. :( The blueberry bushes also?
No peaches, Mamu? Awww.....:(
We used to have a pear tree, but the birds would sit in it and peck at the pears. They would fall off and then get attacked by the hornets. I don't think we got to eat any of them!

Oh man... I would cry to see them cut down. :( We cherish trees here in the desert.
