Okay, so I put in Dec 18, 2004, 5 p.m. EST as cruise time and date. How come I am out 318 days and you guys are at 317? Are you trying to sneak out of the port a day earlier than me?

Dancind

lneeley, I think a lot of us put in the day we're flying to Orlando, Dec. 17.

My DD will miss 3 days, even leaving on Friday night before the cruise. They have three days the next week. Hope she doesn't miss too many 8th grade semester finals. This year she missed the last two days before the break for our cruise. Her teachers were pretty accomodating, she got straight A's for the nine weeks.

If you take a kid out for a full year, you're a Homeschooler! Or would that be Worldschooler in your friend's case? What an incredible opportunity! Diana

lneeley
02-04-2004, 04:05 PM
Diana-Our DD Jamie (12 at cruise time) will be missing the 17th and 3 days the next week. I figure the schools won't be doing anything at that time except assemblies anyway. She will be missing 7th grade.

GAIL you can use the user pc at the top of the pages to see what post there is and how many views of that post.
it just depends on how fast you are and your computer. the more there are posting the more unsure on who post gets there first. chat night you type something and then hit enter and 7 posting come up.

okay time for supper see you cruisers in a while.

No snow yet, but they say it is coming tonight. Anywhere from 3-9 inches depending on where we land in the storm. Mary, I hate to say it, but the weatherman's map showed that the snow extended all the way to Chicago. Are we having fun yet?:scratchin

:sunny: :sunny: (Warm sunny thoughts, warm sunny thoughts)

Matt - good luck on your test. We were in Hawaii in December and loved it. We were going to take the kids back this summer, but our timeshare is booked up, so I think we are going to head to Atlantis instead. We will go to Hawaii next summer.

Ok to get to 10,000 before we cruise we need to post 25 posts per day. At the 25 posts per day rate we should hit 3000 by 3/18/04.

I'm sure we can do way better than that especially based on yesterday.

Let's target lead day 2/29/04 - that only needs 33 posts per day.

Whatever day we do it I'll be ready. Just remember I work during the day so don't pirate: it from me. :D

Good morning all. Can you believe, it is still snowing in Salt Lake City. They now say that it might stop later this morning or early this afternoon. Problem is--I fly to Atlanta at 1:30 p.m. today for a business trip. (Wish it was Orlando instead!). I tried to sneak in a little DW extra by doing a layover thing, but they wanted an additional $220 and I figured since I was by myself, it wasn't worth it to go a day early just so I could go shopping in Downtown Disney! I have to go to Atlanta again this fall, so I am definitely going to plan ahead and hopefully add a little side trip to the business trip even if I am by myself! Maybe I could work in a 3 day DC (I wonder if I could sneak that by without the DH finding out.) Hm.....that's a thought!

Anyway, guess I better get to work this morning and check the Delta site to see how delayed my flight will be today. I'm taking my laptop with me so while I'm doing my homework each night, I have assigned myself as the #1 priority to read the pages and pages of posts that I miss during the day!

Have a great one!

The holiday program remains in development but is fairly well defined. Yes, there will be some special surprises and entertainment. Additional ships are certainly important to us and we are working on that front but there is no timetable that I can share.

Well, this might get a discussion, of sorts, going.
I have found Cash's poop deck.....Gasp, in my own cabin. Disney policy, as told to me by the TA...
According to reservations I have lots of time to un-housebreak Cash so that he can do his things in a sand-box in my cabin...and lots of time to un-train him so that he will go away with a stranger so I can permit a crew member to take him to the "backstage area"where I am not permitted to go.
I am SO sad.:(

Linda I don't have the address or number but I wouldn't take the word of a travel agent on this. I would talk directly with Customer Relations at DCL. Hopefully you will get a much better answer. I had a DCL one before but it crashed and I lost it. I have all this website software and online webspace and want to use it. Any ideas? I was thinking of making a new DCL Website for info like Barb and Tony's. I dont want to build somthing and have no one look at it. You guys could pass the name around. Let me know what you think? I am open to any ideas. I know we sorta have a 10 Day Cruise page. If mary would like I could make a fancy one and take care of it for her. Also I could get us our own special forums for talking and asking questions. I love doing that stuff so let me know what you think.

Hi all. I'm burning a CD of all of our cub scout pictures to show at our boy's scout graduation Saturday, so while the CD is burning, I thought I'd see what was happening.

Gail and Stace, you all have a great trip. I'd sure like to be heading somewhere warm today. I was talking to someone in Tampa from work today, and he was saying it was 78! He keeps inviting us to hold meetings down there! I told him it was too close to my mom, since she'd expect me to visit if I was within 1 1/2 hours!

DS got a hair cut tonight so he'd look good for graduation. We were teasing him that he should get a lightning bolt cut in, since he's graduating from the lightning patrol. Of course, he was up for it, even though I wouldn't be!

Have a great night! Lisa

Good news, good news...I got an upgrade to a verandah stateroom for my May (wheelchair users) cruise that just happened to have one accessible stateroom with verandah left in their inventory. With the TA working with a special services coordinator at DCL they worked it out, which means that it could work out again for the 10-day cruise......maybe. With Cash trained not to go away with a stranger or forget his "potty only outside" training, a verandah solves the problem......Verandah dog has arrived...

Bought a new suit today and it is a size smaller than I have worn in several years. I haven't seen a size 10 since I had the kids!!! (and a great sale too 75%+off.) saved so much I had to get a new leather jacket.
I just might have to go shopping again this weekend. I hope we aren't snowed in.

Okay, FINE...I went to the gallery showing, and I have to admit, I had a great time. Good food, excellent WINE ::yes::
It was in Old Town Scottsdale, and I'd forgotten how charming it was to walk around the brick sidewalks and look in all of the shops and galleries.
We stumbled upon an Italian Bistro and decided to have dinner there. The food and service were beyond excellent. Frank Sinatra songs in the background....even the waiter was from New York!
It was like being on vacation already. I'll have to take back my whiny thoughts and apoligize.
jilljill, have a positively fantastic time in Ireland...find my ancestor's castle for me. (Really...County Cork).
I'll check in in the a.m. to give us one more push to 10,000.
I'd like to claim 4000 if no one else wants it! Heck, I need to have SOME purpose in life!! (Besides being the chief whiner...or is that wine-o ?)

Ooops, forgot, most of you are already in bed. Oh well.
Big congrats to Vicki!!!! Wish I were making some progress.

And Lynda....YIPPEE!!!!!! At Christmas, Cash can use my verandah any time...I love dogs & don't mind their doo. See, if you walk him out your room, into mine, and straight out the verandah door, it will almost seem to him that he is truly going "outside" for his duty! Did I tell anyone that I have a "GrandPuppy"? My DD & SIL got a new pup after their wedding. No real grandbabies yet, thank goodness. Now that they've seen how I spoil the dog, they really want to wait to have kids!
And we have big ol' Molly. She's a Lab/something mix. True angel-baby, that one.

Stacey, I will be sure to ask for directions to your ancestor's castle in County Cork. That's where will be staying Sun. and Mon. nights.

Forutnately the snow did not last long and it turned to rain, but we are supposed to have horrible rain today with lots of flooding. Good thing our flight isn't until tomorrow evening.
I really should think about packing today - I haven't even started.

Good Morning All!!

5 inches of snow yesterday!!!! The roads are a mess and school is on a 2 hour delay. (I guess that is better than no school at all - at least for me) And it is snowing again if you can believe it.:crazy2:

Vicki - that's great about getting into a smaller size. But, that's not right what you said about the snow staying in Iowa. That's where I live and we have enough already. They are actually advising people not to travel on I-80 between Des Moines & Iowa City because the roads are so bad.

Mary - thanks for fixing that for me.

Barb - hope you have a great time on your trip.

garRy - since Vicki is thinking bad thoughts about us poor souls in Iowa (she wants to keep all the snow in Iowa!) I am rescinding my invite to our Cat 1 if you make the April 10 cruise.  I'm just kidding you know you are always welcome if you make the cruise.::yes::

Happy Friday all! Lynda, great news about the verandah! I can't imagine how much of a pain that would have been! You can't be the first person who's had this issue. They really ought to have some sort of process which is workable. Is this something that one of the big organizations like Canine Companions or the Seeing eye foundation could tackle for the industry as a whole? Kind of like they addressed service dogs coverage under ADA?

Vicki, congratulations on your size change! I've been looking at clearance suits too. But I have several that are in my size right now, and I'm not going to jinx my luck by buying the next size down. I figure the suits will be on clearance just before we leave, and I can be sure to get the right size then.

Barb, have a great trip to Ireland. Doesn't it rain a lot over there in the winter? Sounds like someone's just trying to get you acclimated for the trip (lol!). I too would love to visit Ireland someday. It's about the only place overseas I have a deep desire to see.

Our weather here is rain, hovering just above freezing. Another 2 hour delay on schools, cause the northern part of the county is below freezing. Drawback to a countywide school system is that when weather affects one school, it gets them all!

Looking forward to chat tonight! Maybe just me and Mary since everyone seems to be in the travelling mode right now, huh?

Mary, really enjoying the pics. I think ours is a little fuzzy, I'm still trying to figure out my new digital camera. We are in cabin 5624, by the way.

Not sure we will be able to take any vacations before the cruise. I have reservations at BCV in August for DD and I, but my job is sort of in flux right now, and I may be retiring this year. That means a LOT less $$$ coming in. Not what I had planned at all. I'll be hanging on to the money for this cruise for dear life! Oh, we may be going to Las Vegas in late July for a dance competition Nationals, but I don't really consider that a vaca. Sorry, just don't like Vegas!

Any Scots on this board? My Sinclair family ancestry goes directly back to Scotland and then it's a dead end. All those guys back then gave their firstborn sons their father's name. Makes it reallly confusing, since so many have the same names.

LeiLani - we were in 8600 on our first cruise. It had a huge verandah - 8602 is even larger. The only thing I didn't like is that the verandah is metal - and you can't see out of it when you're sitting.

Still trying to get a Cat. 3 on our 4 day cruise in April (we leave the day after you) and on the 10 day (of course - if I knew we were going to party in Walt's suite - might have done the 7day cruise instead. . :smooth: ). Happy afternoon everyone. It went from snow to freezing rain to rain. Yuck. Everyone be careful out there tonight. I am so excitied that I have been working out 3 times a week and tennis once a week and I finally fit back into my jeans today.Yeah. I have only lost 1 pound but I am toning up. I hope to be in size 8 when we cruise in Deceber with you all. I had put on weight last year and could not fit into my jeans or in some of my clothes. I was also not in the best shape. Many years ago - about 15 years exactly I use to Play lacroose (attack wing) and Field Hockey. We both love to play and watch Tennis. We both play doubles. DH loves Baseball and he collects signed bats and BB cards. He also has so so many BB cards. He has been doing it since he was a child. We are Yankee and Met fans. Anyway back to the subject I am on a roll to get in shape and use the DCL gym while on board. DD loves to Dance and Drama. Enough said on that subject. I am just so psyched to wear the clothes that I have in my closet.

Stacey have a great time in Vegas.

Jill have a great time in Ireland.

Mary, Did you get the family picture. If not I will send you a different one. I was thinking about the one I sent and I do not like the sun was in our eyes. I am getting to critical I guess.I have not been on the Photo Gallery today.

Talk to you all later. I am on my way with DH to buy him a new suit for our cruise next week. He has not bought a new suit for 10 years as long as we have been together. I can't believe we waited till the last moment!!! It is not like me at all. I usually have everything done way in advance. If you are traveling tonight be careful out there. Virgil - I know those suites are great. We had 8102 on our cruise last March. The verandah was so big we really did not mind the metal. We are still hoping for one of the larger Cat 3's that have a murphy bed so the girls do not have to sleep together, but if that is the only way I can have a Cat 3 I will take it. I think we are going to spoiled with our Cat 1 in April. I'm not sure what we are going to do after that. DH still at the hospital, who knows when he will get home. At least with the ER shift you generally have set hours, although that can sometimes change. DH leaves early in the morning and I never know when he will walk in the door.

We switched to 8602, which is handicapped accessible, because that is the Cat 3 that DCL offered to us. Don't flame me, but we do not require a handicap accessible cabin, so I am hoping we get moved to another Cat 3 or to a Cat 1 or 2 so that maybe 8602 can be made available for you and Cash. DCL usually does not release the handicap accessible cabins until about 30 days out from the cruise, but it seems like this time they are releasing them early. We can't wait to meet you and Cash and if we stay in 8602 Cash is always welcome to stretch his legs since we have such a large verandah.

sigh,
There is a process of change going on with the DCL service dog policy that, unfortunately you landed square in the middle of. The only way that Cash and I can go on this cruise, it seems, is if we have an accessible stateroom with a verandah. If you're serious about letting him have his DCL-approved litterbox potty on your verandah, that's fine with me....We'll be seeing a lot of each other. All I know is that DCL insists that either I un-housebreak him so he will potty in my stateroom, or I un-train him to go off with a stranger to go potty in a backstage area.
Insisting on either of those policies will land DCL in hot water with the ADA police because you NEVER mess with the training of a service dog. (I believe a suit against DCL is already being prepared by someone else on this issue.) I'm not going to insult you or give you a hard time over this... (the Mouse wouldn't like that) I'll reserve the room assignment process and its repercussions for my TA and her DCL special reservations contact, where it rightly belongs. Right now the only way we'll meet, though, is if you come to Texas.

We won't tell, promise...I wouldn't be very good on that panel, since I wouldn't have anything constructive to say. Besides "we love DCL, we love DCL, we love DCL", or maybe "please don't change a thing!"

Good trips to all, hope you all stay warm too. Hate to say it, but we were outside without jackets today. DH has the bug for a new truck, so we were driving Toyota Tundras and Nissan Titans. Both nice, tough decision. Wish he could get one without getting a new car loan, cuts into vacations.

Good morning everyone!

Sure is quiet here.

Barb's off to Ireland, Stacey's in Vegas, Gail's packing for her cruise, Karyn's either still in Florida or so busy with house things she hasn't checked in, and Matt's got to stay away for a while. Wow!

Well here's a happy Sunday to all of you who are still here. Checking in before heading out to Mass.

Nascar season officially started last night so we are very happy in this household. Lots of driving on today so I may or may not be checking in. :D

Have a great day everyone!

Diana - Karyn's cruise was last week. She was keeping in touch with Barb via e-mail. I think they may be home now but doing the big move to the west coast. I'm sure we'll hear from her once she's settled in.

We have some of the designs for the t-shirts on the web page. Go as if you were looking for a newsletter page of the photo gallery and then click on the t-shirt link.

I beliveve the first two designs would be silk-screened to the back of the shirt and the last 3 could be what is embroidered on the font. Take a look at gaRry's picture in the photo gallery to get a better idea.

So what do you think? Colors?

My original thought was lime green shirts (the DIS color) with the design 3 (holiday bow) in red.

gaRry's design for the back would look better on a medium blue shirt (as the background of the shirt helps make the design).

So #3 could stay in red or be in green.

Opinion? Anyone else have any designs they would like to show us. We asked this before but really didn't get any others.

I love lime-green! It is one of my favorite colors to wear, so put my vote there!

I can't wait until Kabuli1 gets here (to the west coast, that is)! Kabuli--email or PM me once you are settled.

Matt--don't know how long you will be away from the boards, but CONGRATS on the A- :smooth:  :smooth:

And if any of you DVC members have points to spare for rent...PM me!!! I am still trying to talk DH into buying, but renting is the next best things at this point. And we had soooooo much fun at the WL Villas--I don't think it will take too much more to convince him!

We're back! Got in about an hour ago! We had a wonderful time. I think we talked some of the 1/31 cruisers into joining us on the 10 day!

Anyway, the next two days are going to be a whirlwind. Got to finish everything and on Wednesday the movers come! My computer is going out in the moving van, so it maybe awhile till I get back on! I'll try to check in before the computer gets put in a box!

I think I wrote this address for the last time on my US immigration papers on Saturday.

Hi Karyn, Welcome Back!!!!!! You were missed. Good luck with the move. I will e mail you when I return from our trip on 2/23/04. Oh will you have a new e mail address??? If you do please e mail me it when you get settled in. I can't wait to hear all about your trip.
That is great if more join in.

Matt, We were on the Adventure out of San Juan, PR. We cruised in July of 2002. We loved it. It was awesome and great for all ages. I hope you all get to go. If you or your family have any questions e mail me and I would be happy to fill you in on all the ship has to offer.

Mary, I Love the bow design for the front of the shirt and I like the Holiday ball one too. I also like Design #2 for the back of the shirt. I'll go with the flo. Whatever is decided is fine with me.

Gary and Mary what a great job you all did. Thanks.

Time to get the children ready for school.

Good morning everyone,

No more new snow here, but we sure do have a lot on the ground. It will probably be June before all this melts.

Mary - loved the snow cartoon. I am going to have to print it out and show everyone around here. We (or I should say me) are big Nascar fans also and I have been looking forward to this weekend since November. I would like to find out if they show Nascar on the cruise, so that FIL and I can watch it while we are on the cruise in April. May have to plan my excursions in Key West around the race. Then again that is Easter Sunday so maybe they won't have a race. I will have to look at the schedule.

Lynda - DCL does seem to have a strange policy regarding service dogs and the handicap accessible rooms. I don't know why they released this room so early, but I have to say for us it is a good thing. We did not want to cruise unless we were in a Cat 3 or better. But, I did tell inventory control that I would like to move out of this room to another Cat 3 if at all possible, so that it could be opened back up for someone who needs a handicap accessible room. I am supposed to call my contact at inventory control soon, so I will ask her about it again. And maybe I will see if there is someone I can talk to while on board in April.

Other post was getting to long, so I decided to split it into 2 posts.

Gail - hope you have a great cruise. I know I am counting down the days for our trip in March.

2belles'mom - wish we had some points to let you rent, but like Matt we tend to use all of ours. DD turns 16 in the summer of 2005 and we are planning on taking 4 of her friends and their moms to stay in a Grand Villa for a week, so we are saving up what we have left.

Karyn - Welcome Back! Hope everything goes smoothly with your move and we wil look forward to hearing from you once you are settled in your new home.

No race on Easter Sunday so you are free to go and enjoy Key West! The first part of the season is on Fox so I don't think you would get it on the ship. The only racing we have ever seen on board were the trucks back when they were on ESPN (since ESPN is part of Disney).

I have hounded my parents nuts all weekend. I looked at probably every photo of the ship there is. www.voyager-class.net has so many pictures. Its a great site. We were looking actually looking into navigator next christmas or the disney 10 day. Choose disney this time. I wanted to go on the Adventure next spring break since its so cheap for some reason. My mom said its would be to soon since its only 3 months after our disney cruise. I did not realize that.:hyper: Of course I dont care but everyones pocketbook does. We might go in june. I am wondering how exspensive it will be though. No rates are out yet for then. If you dont mind be asking was july exspensive when you went gail?

Sorry I haven't posted. It's been a busy weekend for us here. DS had blue & gold banquet on Saturday which included arrow of light and graduation to boy scouts. I was all choked up. Hopefully you can all see how handsome he is in this link.

Mary, I'm going to email you a new family photo we took at the end of the banquet. It's not the best picture of me in the world, but at least it's current!

Sunday I was singing in choir at church, which meant both services to attend. DH came down with a nasty cold, so he stayed home. By the time we got home from church and I got in my 3 mile exercise tape, it was about time to turn around and go back for awanas and choir practice! Then the chase around Southern MD to find a store open after 9 on Sunday which had cold medicine!! It took the 5th store to find it!

Today, DH stayed home from work, and I no sooner got into work, when DS's school called cause he was throwing up. He's been fine since we got home, but it's just been nuts!

Catching up on laundry today so that I can turn around and leave again tomorrow. I'm going t be having computer withdrawal. Nobody in my family has one!:(

Hi all, see, no one even missed me. Read all the pages I missed while in Atlanta. Boy it was rainy, cold and miserable the whole time, and then I came home to Salt Lake with another foot of snow! Wouldn't you know!

Sorry, no DVC points to rent, we use all of ours, wish we could buy some more, but don't think I can talk DH into that.

Matt-we went on the Radiance of the Seas last May. We loved it! (Well, not as much as Disney, but pretty close)

Mary-We did the Panama in May on the Radiance. We went from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego for 16 days. We loved the repositioning cruise. Would love to go again, especially if it was Disney. I would love for them to do a Member's cruise through the canal. We definitely need more than 400 points per year at the rate we are going!

I'll have to go take a look at the tshirts, thanks for the February newsletter, it is great!

I'll try to get 1 posting for the shirts and post all info on that.
the islands 1 has the island colored in the other is just an out line and they would be the color of the shirt. DESIGN #LIME GREEN
would be like the lime green t shirt. change the writing in the ship and date at the bottom plus add ? ? ? so this would be 3 designs for the back. I guess its just a start, some how we need guideness, on which way. simple LIME GREEN style , or 1 or 2 something else ? ? ? it will be hard to make everyone happy. I cannot even do that with my family everyone wants the other choice?????????
so when I post all the info we can start from there.

AND the wreath would be embrodered not sure of the others yet.

ALSO names would be embrodered LIKE GARRY

IS HOW WE DID IT LAST TIME one or both names.

Sorry I didn't post last night, we had a friend fly in from W. Virginia, and he stayed longer than we expected.
I do not want to go to freezing Nebraska! When I went out at 7:00 this a.m. it was already 50 degrees here. The highs there are only going to be in the 30's. YUK.
Anyway, I'm about on my way out the door. Love the new Southwest deal...I already have my boarding pass..and I got Group A! At least I'll be able to put my bag in the overhead. People in Group A both going to and coming from Vegas took up so much over head that all of the B's and C's ended up having our luggage checked. I don't know why they (airlines) don't stick to their own rules, and limit people. (Just had to get my venting over with)
Have a really great trip Gail, I hope everyone will be feeling better really, really soon!

Stacey-I'll vent with you. When I flew back from Atlanta on Sunday, there was a family of four (obviously coming back from DW) the kids were probably 3 and 5. They had 9 carryons. Now granted, they were really over 1, however, it took them 20 minutes just to get down the ramp, on the plane, couldn't find room for their stuff, and of course, the kids didn't help. Why they couldn't just bring a bigger suitcase and check the thing in, I don't get. And believe me, there is no way, that my DH and me would carry 9 carryons through Orlando, Atlanta and then to Salt Lake.

It is amazing that the airlines either enforce very strictly or don't enforce at all.

Just Announced

Comcast Cable Company has made a hostile take over bid for Disney !!

Apparently, Comcast approached Michael Eisner earlier in the week about a friendly takeover of Disney by Comcast, he said no thanks.

Thus Comcast has launched a hostile takeover against them.

Imagine the largest cable / media content company buying Disney.

That could be very interesting. If that did happen, maybe Pixar would come back to Disney in partnership.....

I just can't imagine who would want to wrestle 2 little kids, and 9 carryons!! I limit my kids to their backpacks so that they can carry their own, and make them put them under the seat so that they can get things out by themselves.

Good Morning (almost afternoon here) All!

I have to agree with all of you about the carry-ons. We try to take as few as possible and I also limit the girls to a backpack which they have to carry. What always makes me laugh (or shake my head in disbelief) is the people that pull the big suitcases on as carry-on and then try to put them in the overhead compartments. The look on thier face when they don't fit  . The airlines are supposed to have a size restriction for carry-ons but I don't see them enforcing that either. Okay, done venting for the day.:p

garRy - just tell that DS of yours to straighten up or you will leave him with a babysitter and go on the cruise without him:laughing:. Just kidding. It would be great if you guys could make it, but if not, I guess I will have to wait for the Christmas cruise to meet you.

It amazes me to when I see what people try and carry on an airplane. We used to love to fly the Super 80's of American Airlines because they had 2 + 3 seating. You had the same amount of overhead room, but 1 less seat per row. Now almost all their flights are 757's which are 3 + 3.

Matt,

why would you die if Comcast takes over Disney?

For one, you would probably get what you want in your banner, about Michael Eisner getting booted.

Most people would say that the Disney company has been awful for the last 5 years, and a change in leadership would be the best thing for Disney.

In addition, the media conglomerate that Comcast is would be a great match for ABC TV and ESPN, as well as the other media devices that Disney owns.

Since most of the Disney Stores are closing within 2004, the nightmare of EuroDisney continuing losing money, the awful ratings of ABC, etc .. I would welcome the change to Disney

Especialy since the 15% increase yesterday in the stock price already was great, since I own way too many shares in Disney.

Just curious, why do you think it would be bad?

Personally I wouldn't like to see Comcast take over. My limited experience with them and what I have read elsewhere makes me not respect them much as a company.

Disney needs a serious shake-up and hopefully this will cause one. My hope is that the shareholders (of which I am one) speak up with the votes.

Good morning all. A record -4 degrees this morning in Salt Lake. Not much new here, just plugging away with that audit. I am trying to figure out how I can manage a WDW trip in sometime this year so I don't have to wait until that cruise in December. For right now though, I'll stay in the dreaming mode.

All our Disney stores closed here. I was soooooo disappointed, as I am a regular shopper there. I was probably the best customer they had here. And, I would always buy those grandkids all their gifts when they were on sale or clearance. So, it's a real bummer. The catalog just isn't as much fun. That's why I need to go to WDW so I can get my fix by going to Downtown Disney!

Okay, I am out for now. Have a great day

Good Morning Guys,

djs113: From what I heard ComCast plans to sell the parks and hotels to independent companies. Like WDW Parks to Mr. Y, Hotels to Mr. X and so on. That would be bad in my opinion if that happens. It would not be disney. If they can merge the company without dumping everything then go right ahead. I am just a little worried.
Have a Good Day,
Matt

Don't worry about what happens with Comcast, Matt. Not much we can do about it. The sell-off is a rumor, I've actually heard that the Comcast president (who used to work for Disney), has "big plans" for the parks. Big plans sounds good! And they won't get rid of DCL or DVC because they are money makers. Diana

I am still really worried. I think needs to stay disney not comcast disney. If they merge I want them to keep the name Walt Disney Company owned by Comcast. It could be really good or really bad. We can make a differenc. If you are stock holders you can make a difference, get the word out to people. Well that is just IMHO. Hope everyone is having a good day. I am at school right now.

Could they change DVC? I don't think they could since we are actual property owners. I'm sure they could raise fees and stuff, but I think we are pretty safe until the time period is up.

Hello all!

Matt--I agree with you that the "splitting up" of things would be bad. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
And another thought: how do you manage to get on the boards at school????;)

Gail--have a wonderful trip!

I am soooo happy, I have a four-day weekend! Yippee!

I am off to San Francisco tonight for a quick 2-day Valentine getaway my DH arranged. Gee, I wish he'd booked Disneyland instead  Oh well, I am sure San Fran will be fun, and I don't want to TOTALLY O.D. him on Disney...

Gail - have fun on your trip.....

2Bellesmom - definitely a Disney fanatic if you'd rather go to Disneyland instead of a romantic weekend in SanFran.... Of course - I'd rather be on a cruise..... :teeth:

Matt - I definitely wouldn't worry - so many things can happen - who knows how they've got Disney structured to prevent a hostile takeover.....

I'll be gone skiing... or something over the weekend in Snowshoe, WV....

Be back posting late Sunday.... After the Daytona 500 (of course)...

Linda - I don't think they can mess with DVC too much because we have contracts, at least until 2042. They could raise maint. fees but no more than 15%.

Matt - I do not think they would takeover Disney and then break it up. Although Disney struggles from time to time, they have a pretty good thing going. I don't think Comcast is out to destroy Disney but now that they have rebounded from the takeover of
A T & T they have the capital and Disney is ripe for the picking. (so to speak) Most people feel the offer is to low so I will wait to see what Comcast does next.

Virgil - I don't really have a favorite driver, I am just one of those people who likes to watch the races. Some of the drivers I pull for most are Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, and Ryan Newman. We buy tickets to the race in Vegas every year (FIL loves to go - Dale Jarrett fan) but because it is scheduled so close to spring break (and we usually go somewhere than) I don't get to go the race very often. Have a great time skiing. When we lived in Virginia 10 years ago we went to Snowshoe and we loved it.

Things are settling down around here for now. I had to take DD to the ER yesterday cause she was still vomiting. They got some fluids in her, and IV phenegran which finally broke the cycle. She's also having some problems at school, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We can use all the help we can get!

Matt, I had wondered about the checking in at school thing. Okay, I'm putting on my mom hat. If I were your parents, I would not be happy to know that you were surfing the web during school. It sounds like you're a very bright young man. I wouldn't want you to get into trouble over this, so please think twice while surfing at school. Mom lecture off.

Good afternoon all. It has been the Friday from ****. I guess it is the 13th, no wonder!

So this morning I got up, turned on tv, it was -3 degrees out. Then the Today Show came on, and there was Matt Lauer, on the beach down in the Carribean soaking up 80 degrees on Necker Island (the island that guys owns from Virgin Records-Richard something, I think). Anyway, you can bring 10 of your closest friends and stay for only $37K per night. Way out of my range!
And then Jimmy Buffett was on, and I was just aching to get on a cruise ship and head down that way.

But then reality set in and I came to work, and I have been buried with the auditors all day long. It is now 3 p.m. MST and I am just now getting into my email. Oh well, at least the weekend starts pretty soon!

Okay, that's it for today. Have a great day everyone!

It is amazing what the airlines either enforce very strictly or don't enforce at all.

Linda

When I was getting my luggage checked in on the return Orlando/Dallas flight I asked the agent not to dismantle my scooter (illegal per ACAA) and had several persuasive reasons one of which being that it had been inspected on the way to Orlando and, according to the paperwork was the same scooter. The agent, citing "National Security" concerns, did not hesitate and asked me to move into a wheelchair so he could remove the seat and tear the plastic cowling off...He was having such a hard time taking the seat off that I, afraid he would break something on my scooter, offered to show him the pages from the manual I had copied and tucked into a pocket for just that reason. When he got the seat off he remarked that if I had brought the entire manual he wouldn't have to do the inspection...whereupon I whipped the manual out of a suitcase pocket for his reading. After reading the entire manual he pronounced the material insufficient and got back to tearing apart my scooter....When he got down to the batteries and saw that they were, indeed gel cell, as I had told him and as indicated on the previous airline paperwork, I commented that I just felt compelled to say "I told you so"..... His reply was that he was used to it as there were many people from New Jersey whose equipment he had also inspected...

Are we laughing yet?

Hello all, Happy Valentine's Day. Been working on our 2003 income taxes most of the day, thought I'd check in. It's been pretty quiet. I popped over to the Port Canaveral Cam, at 6 p.m. EST and the Magic is still in port. I was surprised. Was showing the DH the live cam since he doesn't know how any of these things operate (doesn't even know how to turn on my computer!) He can operate millions and millions of dollars of heavy equipment, but hasn't learned how a computer works! I was showing him ebay and how that works, he was just amazed. I think it is a little overwhelming to him.

Anyway, DD is gone for the weekend at a Leadership Conference, so we are headed to dinner here shortly and to a movie! Talk to you all soon!

Snowing again here in Chicagoland. Light fluffy snow and it doesn't seem to be piling up.

We've decided that we are going to fly down on Friday morning but instead of going to Disney we are going down to Vero Beach for the night. We own at Vero and have never stayed there! My in-laws have and love it so we'd really like to go check it out. Plus it saves us cash as we can use points for our stay. I'm calling member services on Monday to make our reservations. Good morning everyone. Glad to see we are active again. It was a little slow for awhile.

Mary, you will love Vero Beach. We own at OKW, but what we have done many times is go to WDW and then add on three extra nights with points down at Vero Beach. It's a great way to relax around the pool and wind down after running 24/7 at the parks! They have a great kids program with activities and a fun lighthouse waterslide at the pool where they host many contests. For children, they also have a teacher come in and teach kids how to swim. I can't remember the cost. It's fun to go when the turtles are out and you go on midnight flashlight turtle hunts. Vero Beach has everyone close their drapes in rooms when the turtles are coming in. They said that they are attracted to the light. Anyway, you will love it. Hopefully, you can get there early enough to enjoy doing some of the activities available. Also, make sure to attend the singing around the campfire if they have it and to make your own s'more. (That's the Girl Scout in me). Hope you can use your points and stay there. If we didn't have 13 of us, I would probably have gone to Vero Beach also. Okay, enough from me about Vero Beach.

This week we break 300!!!! I wish we were on our final 100 day countdown. Although I know it will be here before we know it.

Have a great Monday everyone, auditors are still here and I need to do checks today. Talk to you later.

Hello...

Raining hard here, but no work and no school :D

Mary--you simply MUST get back to DL. Have you been able to check it out since CA and the new Downtown sector opened? It is so much better than in years past...AND, Tower of Terror will be open this summer!!! Yippeee!

I spent some time yesterday planning our summer trip to DL. Looks like it will be the last week of July. If you book through AAA you also get unlimited fastpasses--FPs you can hold for multiple rides AT THE SAME TIME. That, along with single-rider strategies, can make a trip to DL at the height of summer season enjoyable. I can't decide which hotel though...they all have their merits. I might lean toward GC since we can get five in the room, with the trundles under the bunk beds...

Matt--so your school must have wireless capability??? Does the school have any capacity for checking out laptops to those who don't have them?
Also, what are you doing with the list, LISTMASTER?

Have a nice President's Day,
Christy

Christy,

Yes we were there twice since California Adventure opened. Once not long after it opened and then again on its 1st birthday!

We've stayed at Paradise Pier and Grand Californian. Next trip we'll stay at the Disneyland Hotel because DH has never stayed there. I did but it was long ago!

Disneyland has such a special charm to it! I love the fact that it still has the original Tiki Room - not that "Under New Management" Plus the fact that it truly was Walt's park - where he actually walked the streets.

We really like California Adventure too. Soarin' is our favorite and I can't wait for it to come to Epcot.

I think that is why so many are saying that DCL may reposition over to the West Coast for next Summer. I can totally see them trying to do a tie-in with the 50th. We'll see what happens.

2belles'mom
02-16-2004, 07:02 PM
That would be so FANTASTIC--having DCL out of CA. It is a horrid trip from Seattle to Orlando, especially since it is so difficult to get non-stops--a difficult enough trip that it can set my DH to whining about having to do it  . California is a much easier sell!

Mary, I agree about the special charm that Disneyland has. When people ask me how the two compare (DL and WDW), I always respond that it is like comparing apples to oranges. And it is--how can you compare a 47-square mile WORLD to the quaint walk-anywhere-you-want-to-go Disneyland. I LOVE them both!

Welcome back Barb! Hope you had fun. It sounds like you did!

We've got to get cranking on this post count!

Hey, I'd like everyone's opinions on a cruise question. DH and I have never been to Palo. It just wasn't on our priority list for the 1st cruise, and then everyone was sick on our 4 day cruise. My in-laws are very simple people, not much on fancy food. I fully expect MIL to choose the steak most nights in the dining room. FIL is a diabetic, so will probably go pretty simple on his choices as well.

I'm thinking that maybe I should just book Palo for DH and I as a nice dinner by ourselves. That way the kids would still have grandma and grandpa there for dinner. I could always book the in-laws their own romantic night, then cancel if they don't want to use it? I'm thinking of the tea for MIL and myself (can't see the guys getting into the high tea thing!)

Anyone have opinions on this?

WDWLVR
02-17-2004, 07:51 AM
We didn't do Palo until our 5th cruise, but loved it. My in-laws didn't care for it much. I would say the best thing might be to book two separate nights - one for you and one for them. Do yours first and then you can see if it is the kind of experience they would enjoy. It gives you a night alone, gives the kids a night out with grandma and grandpa, and later gives them a night alone.

High tea is wonderful. DH and I love it - again his parents were not too thrilled with it. We couldn't get reservations on our last cruise, but hope to on the 10 day.

Mary-so glad you got Vero Beach booked. You will love it, even if it is only for a day! If you get up really really early you might be able to see the Magic passing Sat. AM!

I agree on the Palo-book it for DH and yourself. That's what we usually do and let the DD stay with Kid's Club for dinner and the night.

Woo Hoo....it is going to be 47 degrees in Salt Lake today. I didn't even wear a coat to work. That's the first warming trend we have had since Christmas. I hope I don't get sick with all these changes going on, but hopefully it will melt some of the 3 feet of snow at my house!

Lobster is served in all resturants on Thursday (can't remember if that is formal or semi-formal night  ) Sometimes you can even get lobster at the adult beach at Castaway Cay (the next day).

DH, myself, and DS (who will be 8 at cruise time) are not only going, we actually have enough miles on Delta to get 1st class tix...I call THAT a Pixie Dust miracle :)

It helps to go to WDW from Seattle several times a year, lol!

So I haven't been able to read all 148 pages on this thread, but I hope to see some DISers I've sailed with before. And, if there are any Seattle-area people going, let's do Starbucks and get excited together!

Hi Dee - welcome to the thread!

I see that you cruised on the DVC cruise so you have cruised with my DH and I! We organized the DIS meet on that cruise and made the buttons we gave to the DIS'ers. (Actually going back and reading your signature I see that you have Disney Magic DVC cruise - so did you cruise the Magic on points? The DVC cruise was on the Wonder).

For this cruise I have volunteered to do a monthly newsletter and a photo gallery (a way for everyone to see who they are cruising with). If you click on my home page link below you can click a link to the main page (and if you want a trip down memory lane there is a link to the DVC cruise as well). Please drop me an e-mail or pm with the following so I can add you to the list: names, birithdays and anniversary date for all cruising, your cabin number, early/late seating, any other special information (like what cruise it is for you, DVC, etc.). Also if you will send me a family photo I'll be happy to add it to the photo gallery. For the privacy of everyone we've made the newsletter and photo gallery protected by a password. When I get your info I'll pass it on to you.

We've got lots of fun things planned. Gail (who is on a 10-day Celebrity cruise right now) is organizing bruch at Palo. gaRry and his wife Vicki are working on getting t-shirts made for the group.

So glad you'll be joining us and hope you post with us often. Our goal is to get to 10,000 posts before we cruise! Of course, the real reason to keep posting is to get to know each other so we can be sailing with some great friends!

Good Morning All!

WOW!!! 10 Months - Mary that makes it seem so much closer.

Dee - welcome to the cruise. I have a DD who will also be 8 on the cruise but her and her big sis (15) do not know about this cruise yet. Because I am such a planner, it is getting harder and harder to keep this a surprise. We love to fly first class, it makes the flilght so much nicer.

Barb - welcome back from Ireland.

I too have not been posting much lately :bitelip: but I will try to do better. I have been so busy with our other up coming vacations. We will be at the BCV March 14-21, on the 7 day western April 10th, and then we are going to Destin, FL this summer for a week. I have lists coming out my ears for all these vacations including the Christmas cruise. I'm just going to start buying small note books and use one for each vacation.::yes::

I am off to read the other boards.

A very big welcome to you and your family to this bunch of :jester: and  cruisers.

LeiLani, thanks for the welcome home.

Thanks for making my morning on the 10-month mark! :) WDWLVR you're right -- it was the Wonder! I fixed my sig -- thanks!

I'll send you the info later today, I hope, once I had my Starbucks :p

So if we're going to have a DIS brunch at Palo, does that mean we can get 2 brunches on the cruise??? One for me and DH, one for us as a group? I LOVE Palo brunches. Hey, a girl can dream, right? :)

Has anyone ever stayed in 2080? It's on Dave's noisy staterooms list, but I wonder how bad it really is. If it's really noisy I may try to change cabins...DH is not tolerant of anything beyond sensory depravation tanks when it comes to sleeping arrangements :)

Thanks again for everything! I hope to chat here often!

Welcome to the thread Dee. We'll be nearby you. My family (DH, DD - 12 when cruising, DS - 11 when cruising, and my in-laws) are in adjoining staterooms 2571 and 2573 (opposite side of the ship, and forward just a bit from you). Looking at the ship's map, you'll be below Lumiere's. If you have early seating, and are early to bed people, there might be some noise coming down from the restaurant. But if you're late seating, I can't imagine you'd be in bed before they were done cleaning up. In the morning, they start serving breakfast in Lumieres around 8 I think, so you might hear tables moving around, etc. beginning about 7. The only other thing I can imagine might cause noise there is if there is a anchor rope below you.

I know that someone on this thread is actually moving to Washington soon. I think it's JillJill (Barb), but don't quote me on that. I think there's also someone here who already lives out there, but I'm just brain dead today. We have some good friends who live in Coupeville WA. My son and husband visited them last year and took a 39 mile round trip hike up the Hoh River Valley trail. They really enjoyed it. DS is insisting that he's flying back out this summer to visit his friend, and he's going by himself. We'll just have to see how that works out.

Welcome to the gang!

Dee - so we did sail together - cool! Did you come to the DIS meet on Deck 10 that cruise. We had so many DIS'ers show up I can't remember them all! We met so many great people there that is what got me wanting to start the newsletter etc. to have just as good a time on this cruise!

Haven't seen him on this thread in forever but madcoco was also on the Member Cruise and booked for the 10 day!

Also there are a number of DIS'ers (ourselves included) from the Member Cruise going down to WDW for Member Homcoming. :D

With 3 1/2 sea days I think there would 4 days worth of brunches so I don't see why you couldn't eat with the group one day and with DH alone on another. Gail is the one coordinating details on the bruch.

So glad you checked in with us. Looking forward to getting the info. Don't be a stranger now!

Lisa, it's not me moving that far - I'm only moving 4 miles from where I live now. I think all the snow talk has gotten into your head and made you 'brain dead' today :D We need to think :sunny: thoughts to get our brains working properly.

Good afternoon all. Welcome to the cruise Dee! We are so excited to have you join.

I have been busy (still) with auditors. It's 53 degrees out today. Hopefully, some of that snow is melting at my house.

Mary, I would think the ship passes by Vero Beach maybe an hour earlier. I would think if it is clear you would definitely be able to see the ship, since when we've been on the ship at night coming up the Florida coast we can see the lights on shore. It would be great for you to get a jump on those Radisson groupies!

Anyway, I get excited enough just looking at the Magic in port on Saturdays if I am around my computer at the time. I can't believe we are only 10 months out, too bad it isn't 1 month away.

Okay, have a great evening everyone. Talk to you all later.

Hi Dee47!!!

Welcome to this thread!!

We are from Seattle (well, Bainbridge Island to be SPECIFIC :smooth: ). I have 2 DDs, ages (at time of cruise) 5 and 8. We simply MUST get our kids together before the cruise! Starbucks for us--or Seattle Center??-for the kids???? The Fun Forest is about the closest thing to a theme park we have around here

Kabuli1 is the one moving to this area--to Puyallup. They are moving from Chicago. I think they are in the throes of the move right now--that is why she hasn't posted lately.

One thing about us West Coasters on this thread (Matt is also one--although he is in CA--and there are some others): it is lonely posting at night because when it is 10:00 here (like now!), everyone else is sound asleep. And then by the time I check posts (like tonight), everyone has been going mad all day--starting hours before I even WAKE UP and there is a ton to catch up on!

Well, I'm off to check the new additions in the photo gallery,

Christy

I like waking up and finding all the new posts that went on while I slept :teeth:

You have the cutest girls! Yes, we MUST get them all together. We can do Fun Forest and then Starbucks at the Seattle Center.

And beignets. Have to get beignets at Seattle Center.

Should we PM each other and set up a time? Or just keep up the post count on the thread to get to 10000? heh... :teeth:

Let me know, either here or through PMing. Keith would be THRILLED to meet some friends before the cruise. As would we!

We're Mariners fans, as well, as you saw in the picture...If you ever want to go to a game or something...:D

Sorry Barb! I remember you talking about packing! We didn't have much snow here, so I can't use that as an excuse. We've just had every germ known to man! DH is still coughing awfully! And DD had a fever yesterday with a really stuffy head. DH said one of the guys at work said he was coughing so hard his bald spot was red!!!

Anyway, we're all healthy today, so I'm back at work. Tonight is DS's first boy scout meeting! He's been working on his requirements for his first rank (scout), and is very excited. They have a winter campout the end of the month, so I'm looking for details. Hopefully it's cabin camping. Tent camping the end of February does NOT sound good to me.

Take care all! Lisa

They left at 5 and I fell back asleep for about an hour.

Dee if you and Christy have a meet be sure and send me a picture! We had great fun when we got to meet Karyn and Vicki's familiies!

Good morning all. Well, my 53 degrees and dreams of melting snow went out the window during the night. 28 this morning and it is snowing! Oh well, we need the water I guess.

I agree with you guys on the West Coast thing. It would be nice if we had some more posters in the Pacific and Mountain Time Zone. Usually by the time I get on the boards in the morning, they've been burning for hours!

Well, I got tons to do here at work, I'll try to check back periodically.

Have a great day everyone.

garRy,

Charleston is about 1 1/2 hours north of Bluefield.

No lamb for me - STEAK.....

Wait to you see my eldest daughter demolish her medium rare steak. We ate at The Red Fox Inn at Snowshoe over the weekend - and she had the Wild Boar - and then ate the last half of my youngest daughter's filet mignon. The waiter can never believe when she orders - that she'll eat it all.... She looks about 14 or 15 at most.... instead of almost 19....

Gotta have a little bit of blood with your steak........ Only way to eat it..... :p Medium rare - at most!!!! With a nice bottle of red wine - corked of course... My DW is the only one of the girls who doesn't like her meat medium rare.... - but at least she's down to medium... when we got married she ate it well done with ketchup.....

I'm actually right up river from Nitro. The hospital I work at is in South Charleston.

 Hi Everyone!
Well, I made it back from Nebraska with a whole new respect for all of you Easterners and Mid-Westerners. The LAST day that I was there, the temp was 44. A virtual heat wave. The rest of the time it was only in the 20's.....and a ton of snow. My arms ache from shoveling, and chipping away at the ice in the driveway.
I don't know how you all stand it.
The trip went well, nice to see my brothers and their kids. I had some medical tests done while I was there (actually the main reason for the visit)...and I'm as healthy as a horse! I also weigh as much as one, too.....my family is the type that asks where we are having dinner while we are still eating breakfast!! :teeth:

Anyway, hitting the hay early...my flight was late last night, didn't reach my house till nearly midnight, and went straight to work this a.m.
Hope everyone is doing well, and I'll have some reading to catch up on tomorrow, I see.

Good - another red lover.... At least I'll have someone to drink with.... The 19 yr old is really upset - when she went on a cruise with her mother (my ex) she was on RCCL and they let them have a drink at 18 once they are on the high seas..... Disney says 21 - oh well - I guess I'll have to sneak her a sip now and then.... She's learning to like wines with corks.... don't want her hanging too much with the likes of garRy and the MD2020 gang....
