jilljill isn't high maintenance - she just knows what she wants and is asking for it. No harm in asking right?

So let's see - jilljill wants mostly white with green trim.

gaRry wants the one that is mostly green.

I'll put in a request for two with equal stripes between green and white ::yes:: That's me - middle of the road!

Come on guys - need to keep posting! jilljill wants #2000 by Feb. 1st! - I'll settle for 3000 by my birthday on March 24th ::yes::

We will have a special treat in the February newsletter thanks to gaRry and Angela. gaRry has promised me a small write up (hopefully with a photo of two ) of Antiqua as it was 25 years ago. Angela just came back from a cruise there and will be sharing a write-up and photos as well. Thanks guys!

Last I heard tnrobin may not be sailing with us. :( Sad because we were hoping to sit with her and her family for dinner.

So if anyone has got main seating and would like to dine with Mark and I drop me a line and we can talk about linking reservations. I think it would be great fun to dine with other DIS'ers. Even though we have met some nice people on our past cruises having something in common like the DIS is a great place to start!

gaRry, the sooner we get to our other goals then the sooner you get to your goal of 10,000.
Are you reserving the picking on me to yourself?!? If you are - I'm flattered.
If there was a spell checker on here then we wouldn't know if you were the one posting or not

Hello everyone. Happy Sunday to all.

Wow lots to read on this thread the past few days.

JillJill I am with you girlfriend. I do not even call it picky deciding how you want the color's on the scarf. I call it knowing what you want which is not high maintenance. If you would like a definintion of high maintenance just look back at the Barcholotte with Trista and her wedding, that is high maintenance. Anyway no harm meant just stating my opinion of high maintenance.

I would also like to put in a request for one scarf - white with green trim. Just let me know how much and I will send a check to you Karin or your daughter. Thank you for offering to do this. It is going to be great!

Mary, do you or anyone know what the biggest table is for dinner seating? I do not remenber the largest table from the last DC. We are also main dining and we are going to be sitting with DebsHill and her DH and DS. That will make 7 at our table. If you want to sit with us and deal with the young children we would love to have you. If you perfer to sit without the young ones I totally understand. Anyone who is intested we will have children ages almost 8 to 3.5 at our table.

How about if we request a few tables near each other that we can all sit at?? That is whoever is intrested. I can look into it when I am setting up the brunch. What do you all think???? Let me know. Thanks.

Talk to you all soon. Fondly Gail1771

I don't think that requesting a certain design is high maintenence... but do realize that my list is growing and my mom isn't gonna make all that many... at least not until she's settled in w/ the move... All i'm trying to say is: Please don't kill me if it doesn't turn out just like you imagined!! As i said, each will be different and unique!!

sooo, i'm confused!! Lemme get my order straight:

JillJill wants two- either mostly white w/ lime trim or mostly white w/ a few lime stripes

Gail1771 wants one- white w/ green trim

Mary & Mark both want one... was that equal stripes for those??

Gary- you want one that's mostly green, right? what about the rest of your family??

I'm just overly confused!! Please confirm your requests, i'm getting confused, here!! :scared:

Do you want me to match the other three to yours or do you want me to wait until they give me their imput??

01-11-2004, 04:51 PM
Oh, i'm not moving to Florida until August... or whenever colleges normally start!! I'm either going to U Tampa or Stetson U (about 30 min from Disney!!), so all i gotta do when christmas break rolls along is to drive downstate to the port and cruise my heart out!!

BETTER YET- for those scarf orders- PM me!! That way i can save them and know EXACTLY what you want and how many!!! BE CLEAR though, please!! I've got a lot of scarves to make... roughly fifteen right now!!

Thanks, kiddies!!

Gail,

Not sure how big a table they allow. The kids don't bother us at all. Maybe we should see how many on early seating all want to sit with or near each other and then we can have a number of tables. Won't that be fun?

Who else is early seating that wants to be part of the DIS group?

Good evening your Highness, I just PM you in regards to my order.
Thanks for doing this. We are all going to look so awesome.

Mary, That sounds like a plan in regards to the early seating. I am so thrilled that you will join us. Is anyone else eatting early and would like to be a part of setting up some tables near each other?? Let me know if you are and I would set it up when I am taking care of the Brunch.

David,
I've been waiting all weekend for the new set of trivia questions. Where are they?

WDWLVR
01-12-2004, 06:49 AM
I knew that something was missing - trivia!

So David do you have some for us? Of course if you post it this morning while I'm at work jilljill will have them all answered before I even read them - but that's ok!

I think all the triva is a good way to prepare for Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer. Who knows maybe one of us will make it up there a win a cruise!

Okay, I"m not sure if I'm up for this, but I can knit and crochet, so I'll offer to help her Highness with the scarves. I'm trying to teach DD to do it too, so we might have some interesting ones! I'll try to reserve those for our family.

Princess, if it's okay with you, can you go ahead and collect all the requirements, and just ship some of them off to me? That way we don't both make the same order?

Hope all is well with everyone. I'm just so excited about how involved we all are. Last time I looked, we have the most posts on the meet board, and it's a year away!

The Oct 19th 2002 cruisers are on their 3rd thread over on the community board, so we do have some stiff competition over the long haul!

Have a great week all. Lisa

Hi everyone.

I am getting so excitied about this cruise. DH surprised me and joined me up for a gym that I have been talking about for months. I start this Wednesday. 20 pounds to take off before we sail. I would actually be happy with 15 but if I loose 20 I can eat more on the cruise.

David, How many are in your party. If our table does not hold over 10 how about sitting at the table next to us??? Hopefully more will join us on the early seating.

Karin and Deb I miss our e mails. I am now back in the swing of things. I would love to get back to e mailing. Karin how is the move going? Is the house packed up yet? Deb how is Jake doing? I am looking forward to Jake and Ethan playing together.

Mary, I will make sure that when I do the table you and DH are with us. What fun!!! I wanted to let you know that we are going on Celebrity Summit next month on there 10 day southern cruise and we will be stopping in St. Lucia. We will also be stopping in Barbados, St. Kitts, St. Thomas and St. Maarteen. It is a 10 day sailing with 4 nights at sea. We have been together for 10 years and we will be traveling with no children. The cruise leaves out of Ft. Lauderdale on 2/13. I will let you know all about St. Lucia and any new developments on St. Maarteen or St. Thomas. I was in Antigua about 15 years ago so I do not recall very much except the beaches were beautiful.

DH is finally making some progress on our extension. He had some time between jobs but that will end in about one week.

Talk to you all soon. Fondly-Gail1771:earsgirl:

You and me, both Mary! We're taking Jill (that's Your Highness or Princess to the rest of you) back to FL to visit the colleges she's considering in a couple weeks and it can't come soon enough! Of course before then , I have to finish packing the house.

We have a house in Puyallup, WA now!!!! Just signed the papers yesterday, we can take possession of it on 2/15 (close here on 2/12).

Today is a major packing day. I hope to get all my china and stemware and tea cup collection packed. Then pack all-but essentials in the kitchen and pantry. I'm surrounded by boxes here, but I want them to all be full boxes by the end of the day.

Gail, you lucky girl, you! Can I please come with you???? I'll even try to lose enough weight to fit in a suitcase! If you're going to take someone elase, please take Mary - the two of us need it the most! And Gail, I will talk to you more once this move is done (if I don't have to make too many scarves!)

Good morning everyone.
Karyn, Congratulations on the house. When all is said and done we will get back to our e mailing. I wish you and Mary could join us. What fun that would be. I am looking forward to meeting you all. My DS is in his terrible two's. I hope when he turns 3 in June that it will be a lottle bettwer. If not I might just leave him home for the DC in December. My DD is a delight and will be almost 8. It is hard traveling with a 2.7 month old chils. He gave us a run for our money over the holidays when we were away. I know he would lve the crusie but 11 nights is a long time and I am know thinking our cabin is a cat. 10 with a SPH but it is small even though we won't be in it much.

Has anyone else traveled on a long cruise with a three and a half year old????

Yes it is off to the gym I go tomorrow to have a free session with a personal trainer tomorrow and use the tradmill. If my hubby did not sign me up I would never get there. Now that our cc is being charged every month $49.00(great deal for NY Sports Club) I will be going for sure even if it is twice a week. I have been saying I will go for months I just needed the push. To think I use to play Lacrosse, Field Hockey and Jog in High School and College, even after college and I cant get motivated. I hit my 40's and got lazy. I hope this puts me back in the swing of things. I hope this extra 20 comes off before December. I love to eat deserts. That is my down fall and DH also. I guess I will be cutting that out. I won't for the Celebrity Cruise next month. It will have to wait.

I hope you all have a great day. Fondly-Gail1771

Hi Everyone,

I look at joining the gym as a complement that my husband wants me to be healthy. It is good for you heart, well being and stress level. It has nothing to do with my appearance. He loves me no matter what or what I look like. He always has. It is the inside that counts. We are everything to each other and we will always rock each other's world. So I do not look at this as an insult or being negative I look at is as he wants me to be around with him for a long time. I use to work out all the time before I had my children and life got busy but you need to make time for yourself. I use to enjoy going and I'm sure I will again. I just wanted you all to know that I am happy that that I got that push to go again.

Gail, come on over the WISH board! I find that keeping up with posts over there helps me stay on track. Everyone is very encouraging. Will be interested in hearing what you think of the Summit cruise. I think it's a newer, larger ship than the Horizon, which we were just on. Wonder if there's more to do?

Karyn, I was just reading a post on the WISH board where someone said they missed your posts. I know you're busy these days, just thought I'd let you know.

Mary, my DH is putting together a little web page about diving options on the islands we are visiting. Some of the dive operators also offer a tour with snorkeling and beach time, so non-scuba types can go along (me). Can't remember which island this is, though! I will post a link when he gets it done, maybe you can add it to your web page too.

And all - we have second seating but would also love to sit with a big group. Preferably one with a few other young teens. Please PM if you're interested!

Karyn, sounds like you are really rocking with the packing stuff. Great job! We've made many moves in our lives, and I've always been glad that I don't have hardly any nice dishes, since I'd have been worried about them breaking.

jilljill - you are right - every thread has its growth spurts.

I like the fact that we have a nice steady pace with some occasional spurts thrown in. I'm sure as we get closer to those magic numbers and closer to the cruise we'll see even more surges.

Gail you are more than welcome! I haven't been posting over at WISH as much as I should, but I read every day and post in the check-in thread each week. You'll find that it is a wonderful supportive group!

That other thread has pulled way ahead. Guess they must not have much to do during the day. Me, I'm busy working so I can pay for our cruise. :D

gaRry and Virgil on the other hand must not be working as I think they post more from work (when it is quiet that is).

Hope everyone had a great day!

Mary, I see that you posted on 'that other thread'. I hope you make us proud.
I kindof figured that gaRry and pirate: must be home working on 'honey-do' list since they are not posting.

Now, we are still waiting for the new trivia questions

It's supposed to snow here tonight, calling for 2-6 inches. I really don't like that stuff. It is so cold, it almost seems too cold to snow. I want :sunny: and lots of warm breezes blowing the palm trees all around me. Oh yeah, and someone to deliver the drinks to me ::yes::
It's so nice to dream.

jilljill I only posted the one time. I really don't care, but if someone is going to quote me I wish they would do it right.

It was snowing again on my way home tonight and I thought the same thing - wish I was somewhere warm. :sunny: Spring will be here before we know it!

I think you are right - I think gaRry and Virgil are working on thier "honey-do" lists. Or knowing gaRry - he went down to Florida to check and see how the ship is doing .::yes::

Virgil pirate: on the other hand is laying low and just waiting for #2000.

jilljill - tempting as that offer is I don't think my DH Mark would like me going without him. :D That and the fact that being AWOL from work for that long would cause me to lose my job and much as I would like another one I'll try and keep this one until I get a new one. ::yes::

Hi Juli! Now's a good time to think about the 12/18 cruise because if you book it while you are on your 1/31 you'll get some room credits. Hope you decide to join us in December.

What makes you think you are going to get flamed on this thread (or any thread for that matter)?

tkd lisa
01-15-2004, 07:31 AM
Paul, please don't feel intimidated. I firmly believe that on this thread everything is said in the spirit of fun! I know that sometimes things can get out of hand (mostly because we can't "see" people's expressions when they are typing!), but all are absolutely welcome here.

I think people get to know each other's personalities a bit when they participate in Friday night chat, or in a face-to-face meet where it's more interactive. This will result in a few more "inside" jokes. But we don't want to make anyone feel left out. Or make anyone feel that they have to be careful of what they say. Trust me, if you want to see flames, just bop over to the debate board occasionally. It's always good for a laugh!

As to posting during the day, right now, I'm in a down cycle at work where I'm waiting on inputs from others before I can proceed, so it does give me a lot of free time. Trust me, this cycle will turn around (probably by next month!), and I'll be limited to noontime and weekend posts (most weeknights are too full to DIS)!

Juli: I second Mary's comment about on-board booking. If there's any change you'll do it, go ahead and book. You can always cancel later, but that on-board credit never comes again!

WDWLVR
01-15-2004, 01:01 PM
I do most of my reading/posting either before work (early AM) or after work. We are allowed to go on during our lunch hour so I will often eat at my desk and read (sometimes post). The DIS always seems to be so much slower during the day because of heavy traffic.

I hope we haven't scared away Paul and others with all our bantor. This thread is meant as a way to get to know each other. It seems like the majority like to only post once in a while while some of us post every day. A lot depends on what each person has going on in their life at any given moment including other trips that may come between now and the cruise. Although that doesn't stop jilljill and I :D

So come on people - stop lurking and start posting. We don't need to break any records (that is held by whatever cruise that was that is still alive on the CB) but we do want to get to know all of you!

Come join us!

I totally forgot to mention that Lisa is correct about chat - it is a lot of fun and a great way to know others. Friday night cruise chat is for all cruisers, not just one sailing. There is a pretty regular group, but it is always nice when someone new joins us as well. Stop by some Friday and chat with us!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! You guys haven't scared me away yet.

I've tried cruise chat before but being on the west coast and by the time I get home from work it is usually pretty much winding down. Add to that my one finger typing skills and it's sometimes hard to keep up. I'll give it a try again soon.

OK, I'll be honest here. I'm thinking that this thread must be intimidating to anyone that's recently booked the cruise, and even some who haven't kept up. Just think, 89? pages to read. It's got to be mind-numbing to read through it all, and there's some pertinent information in here about brunch, wine parties, etc. I guess we can start new threads when it gets closer to sail date, about sharing excursions etc.

Karyn, I was lurking on the WISH board, reading some threads when I saw that message. Sorry, I have no idea which one it was now! But at least you know you are missed.

Diana

WDWLVR

Diana,

Yes 89 pages is a lot to ready :D but I'm not sure if separate threads would work. I think more people would miss them. That's why I've been trying to cover major things in the newsletter. I haven't put anything in about the wine tasting party yet because firm plans haven't been made but things about the wine tasting, scuba diving, etc. have been in there since the beginning.

I look at the thread as more of the "water cooler" of the group. Stop by and chat so we can get to know each other.

I think the regulars do a good job of trying to welcome each new cruiser and the hope is that they stay around and post.

Probably the next time we will all be together will be on the 12/18/04 cruise! We're going to pack out the house today - down to "ABE" (all but essentials!)

I hope to post more after the weekend, depending on how far we get with the packing.

Have a good one!

Jilljill: SO sorry about your Mother in law! I'll say a prayer for your family.

I have to share some good news I just got! Most of you remember my question about our WDW visit (visit before or after the cruise). Well I had decided to visit before, thanks to all your great advice. I emailed a request to Dreams to price out pop century rooms (resort page said $77 per night, we'd need 2 rooms). I never did get a response from Dreams, even though I sent it in 8 days ago, and sent a gentle reminder a couple days ago. Anyway, I was bored here and started poking around the DVC page, and figured out that if I stayed the 15th/16th, I could stay at Boardwalk with two studios for only 36 points.

I'm so excited that someone came through with a great offer that makes this actually work out! Given that I won't be paying taxes to rent the points, I'm going to be spending a total of $17 more to stay at Boardwalk instead of Pop!!! I think it will be so much nicer for the in-laws to have a really nice atmosphere instead of just a hotel room. The convenience to Epcot, and the option for boats instead of buses to Epcot and MGM, etc. etc.!!! I'm just so excited I can hardly type!

Anyway, I just wanted to share with someone who will appreciate it. I think DH will say "cool" (he really liked the Boardwalk when we poked around there in Jan), but I don't think he'll understand how much nicer it will make those two days.

We'll check out the 17th (weekend points are lots higher). Not sure if we'll drive out to the port and stay there, or just get a priceline hotel. If we decide to go to the port, we might join the radisson crowd for a meet.

She's a homeschool mom - and I know really busy - we correspond every now and then.......

For all those that happen in on this thread - and might be too scared - too confused - or just not know where to start.... Why don't we have a set posting that has all of the information about us and the cruise. That way even if they don't see a new post - they'll know what's up and who to contact. We do that now when a new poster posts - but it might be even better just to have someone post it every other page or something similar...... Just a thought!

Sorry I haven't been posting much, but I do lurk and read everything posted. My sympathies to those of you dealing with cold and snow. One good thing about where I live, we don't get much of that.

Jilljill, prayers going out to your family.

Karyn, congrats to your Princess! Let us know where she's going to wind up. She will be all established as a college student by the time we cruise.

My DD had a bad day at school Friday, and was talking about home schooling again. My first thought "we could vacation whenever we want, yeah!" But then I reminded her that she would miss her friends, and gave her something to eat. Turns out she skipped lunch, and she crashes when she doesn't eat.

Still looking for folks that would like to share a table at second seating, we'll have a 13 yo DD along.

Gail, check out the DVC board here. So much information there, and lots of people eager to answer questions. It's been my inspiration for going into debt to buy more points! Diana

Ok garRy - see I am posting again. :) I have notebooks filled with lists for each trip. DH just laughs at me as I sit around planning the vacations. But wouldn't they be surprised if we showed up at WDW with no reservations for dinner or on the cruise with no basic plan for the week. Maybe one time I will just do that and let them see how much they should appreciate my planning.:teeth: We would still love to have you on the April cruise. Remember you would get to have a wine party in the Walt suite (just dropping that carrot again).

Diana - we will have late seating and would love to share a table. We will have a 15yo and an 8yo both girls. Although the younger one usually does not eat dinner with us becuase there is to much going on in the club.

Gail - I second Diana. Check out the DVC board you can get a lot of questions answered there and if you have more just pm me and I will see if I can help. You can also check into renting points for your stay if you are not ready to buy yet. A lot of people do this as a way to check DVC out to see if they like it. Remember if you have more questions please don't hesitate to ask.

LeiLani and Diana - we also have second dinner - and would love to get a table close to each other. we'll have our 2 daughters - 10 and 19 with us. I'm still trying to convince OhioMinnie and her family to switch to second. I think it's much easier with all of the shore trips and such not to have to worry about getting ready for an early dinner. Of course, my wife hates late dinner - as she can't eat as much......(gives her indigestion at night).....

LeiLani - we leave the day after your Magic cruise - going on a 4 day Wonder - we're also spending a few days at both Universal and DisneyWorld... Would've loved to see Walt's suite - of course I'm still hoping you move up on the 10 day so that we get our Cat. 3.

Oh well.... back to work......

Your Highness, you were definately the last to know about your cruise. I'm very jealous and want to go with you to share your cabin, but mom thinks I would be a bad influence on you. Besides the fact I will be leaving for Ireland the day you come back.
I'm sure you will enjoy sitting with your Homecoming King for the week - a princess: and a king at the same table, oh my.

garRy - when is your winter break? Ours is March 15-19 and the girls and I will be at the Beach Club Villas that week. If anyone should be around during that time I would love to meet up.

Virgil - to bad you are not on our 7 day cruise, you and DH have a few things in common. He is an orthopedic surgeon. (Busy, busy, busy - I have to take him on vacations to get him away from work)We keep hoping we move up also, not just for us, but maybe some of you still waiting can move into a Cat 3. I am going to call my contact in inventory control this week and see if there have been any new developments.

Your Highness - what an exciting surprise. Have a great trip.

Hi Eveyone.

Thanks for the info. on the DVC. At this point in time we are looking into renting points for 2 or 3 nights at the DYC, DBV or Boardwalk for Dec 15-18 or Dec16-18 for a one bedroom unit. I will just need to find out how many points I need for that time and dates. We own two Marriott timeshares and at this point in time it is plenty to have with the maintenance fees. I would like to rent first. Mabye someday we will buy. I hear such wonderful things about DVC.

Mary, I received your e mail. Thanks for the info. I just e mailed you back.

Snow and freezing rain in NY. I just got back for the gym. I am on a roll. I went 3 times last week. This week I will try to go 3 times as I also play doubles tennis on Fridays. we shall see how the week goes. I am determined to get back in shape and drop 15-20 pounds before the Holiday cruise.

I wish all who are vacationing in the next few weeks a great time.

Have a great Sunday everyone. Fondly-Gail1771::MinnieMo

Gail, we just rented Boardwalk points for the 15th and 16th! It was 9 points for each studio on weeknights, 18 points on weekends (standard room). I just posted a thread on the rent page asking when to start looking into it, and got a reply pretty quickly. The standard rooms apparently go quickly because they are "cheap", points wise. If you get to rent, let me know. Maybe we can get together Wed evening or do a park meet at one of the shows.

Diana, we're also on late seating. We'll have the in-laws with us, so I'm assuming that we'll be in one of the 6 person tables. Given my kids dinner behavior (11 and 12 on the cruise), don't know if anyone will want to share with us. Maybe we can ask to have a particular section? I'd really like the LAPLAPLAPL rotation, so I may end up asking for a dining reassignment if I get the standard for our kids (PLAPLA....) I know I couldn't trust my kids to be at the kids table. DS wouldn't eat anything but dessert unless I was there!

Take care everyone! Oh and GaRry, those teeth are just for show!

Hi Lisa.

That would be great to get together at WDW or what ever works for you all. I called WDW and got a AAA rate for standatd room at Beach Club and it was $822.00 including tax for 3 nights I put a hold but would rahter have a studio or one bedroom. WDW reservations told me they have not released a price ofr the BV yet and to call back. They also give AAA discounts. It might work out to be very close in price if I rent points or book it on my own. We are just not sure with school and DH work schedule and all if we will come Wed-Sat before we cruise or Thurs-Sat. We also have a room on hold at the Radission near the port the night before we cruise. We could go Wed to WDW and stay till Friday evening and then get car service to take us Friday night to the Radission. That way we can do the parks on Friday. We will see how it all works out. I will keep you posted.

Hi Ohiominnie. We are early seatting but have younger children. Our table has 9. I have no idea what the highest number that they will sit at a table but we can get another table started next to us if you all are intrested. Mary and her DH Mark are also sitting with us. (WDWLVR) I totally understand if you do not want to be around an almost 8 year old DD, 3.5 year old DS and Debs Hills son who will be 4.

Weather is terrible in NY. Snow, freezing rain, snow and more rain. DH took the children to the fun zone. A palce to play games and small indoor rides for young ones. Sponge Bob and the Rugrat Characters are putting on a show there today. My DH took them so I could paly on the computer with quiet time. A good deal $7.00pp for the show and pizza, juice or soda after the show.

Anyway, I wish I was in Sunny Florida today. Hope you all are having a great day. Talk to you all soon. Fondly-Gail1771

Thanks for the invite! We're really leaning towards switching to late dining so that our dd can be with WVMD's dd. They became fast friends on our September cruise and it'd be fun for them to be together. Besides, WVMD and his wife are pretty neat ppl too...must be, we ended up chatting with them for an hour after bumping into them at the airport! :) We're almost ready to take the plunge to late dining although it's so foreign to us. WVMD has yet to say something that makes me jump in with both feet (I'm waiting for him to say "I'll pick up the wine package." or something like that.) ;) ;)

Good Morning everyone. Happy Monday.

We go away 2-3 times a year. I do all the vacation planing. Usually one Vac. is to visit family in Florida which is not a vacation and the others are pleasure. I have always done ALL the packing for everyone in our family and let me tell ya with a baby or toddler in tow it is alot of work. I am not complaining but it is hard not to forget something with a 6 year old and 2.5 year old. I use to pack 2 days before when it was just DH and myself. I now start packing a week before with a list.I started doing that when my son was born. I got smart this time and left DD clothers at the inlwas house in Florida so when we drop her off in February to go on the Celebrity cruise I will have to pack hardly anything for her. My husband has it easy all he has to remenber is his sunglasses, watch, wallet and razor. This year is a big year for packing. We will be away in February, DD and I will be in florida for 6 days during passover to see family(DH and DS will be home. DH has to work). We will be going on a a cruise to Alaska in August and the DC in Deceber. We have never been on 3 cruises in one year. We are hooked. DH and I started cruising 3 years ago and usually take one cruise for a week and a mini 3 day since than but this year we had a RCCL credit of $1000.00 we needed to use by Sept. and they would not let us use it on Celebrity. So we are doing RCCL for Alaska. We also got a great rate to fly direct fofrom NY $293.00pp on Cathay Pacific. I am lucky to have in laws, sister in law, my parents and a babysitter p/t who has been with us almost 6 years to help us with the kids. I hope we can pay for all of this as I am not working at this moment. Mabye I will start playing the lottery.
JillJill, We were going to be at WDW and staying at our timeshare in April but we had to cancel due to DH starts a bid job the end of Feb. that goes through May. Sorry we will miss you all.
For all you travelers. AA had a newpaper article out that if you fly and complete two trips(you have to show up and fly) between Boston or NY to Fla. or Calif between 1/15 and 4/15 they will give you a voucher to use anywhere. So all of you who live in NY and Boston and fly for businees or leisure check it out. DD and I got lucky and are flying to Fla. twice in that time frame. Anyway time to feed the children breakfast. School closed today. It's going to the movie day. Lots of ice outside this am hope it melts. Fondly-Gail1771::MinnieMo

I'll probably start packing in late summer/early fall. Definitly will be 90% packed by October. On our May 2002 cruise, we booked in something like January, and I was packed by the first of March! But we'll be wearing some of the cruise clothes probably through September.

Mary, thanks for the DVC chat invite. We really don't go to Disney often enough to make DVC ownership worthwhile. We did a 5 day trip in 97, a 2 day trip in 99, and then just one day after our last two cruises in 02 and 03. I may pop in to a different DVC chat just to ask my rental security question. Is it every Sunday? I'll be home from choir practice just about 9, so it would work fine time-wise.

Diane, for us it cost $17 more to rent 2 standard view studios instead of 2 Pop Century. No tax on rented points, at least 11.5% tax on room rentals. Weekend nights (i.e. Friday) do bump up the cost of the rentals considerably. Good luck finding a rental!

Hope everyone has a nice day off (for those who have a holiday today?).

I am the one who does most of the packing in our house. I'm a planner like Mary, and I usually have long lists for each trip. DH drives me nuts because I have to stay on him to pack. His idea is to get up in the morning pack then leave. It drives me crasy. And DD (teenager) thinks she has to take everthing in her closet. I let her pack last year without checking what she was taking - BIG MISTAKE:earseek: . Luckily we were at WL for a couple days before the cruise so we sent some stuff home. For 12 days she had 16 pairs of shoes, 25 tops, every belt she owns (which must be 20), and every bottle of body spray she has. Needless to say Mom now checks her suitcase every time. Since we are going to WDW in March and then on the cruise 3 weeks later, the girls and I are just going to leave our suitcases packed. I will just wash when we get back then repack them. We won't need those cloths in Iowa in March or April.:sunny:

Sorry, i'll try and supress my girly urge....

So, i'm graduated!! yay!! no more school until august! This is quite exciting, it feels GREAT!! Hmmm, now that the excitement has kinda died down, i gotta get my fingers back to crocheting, sh'ant i? hmmmmm, yeah...

Although, on the other hand...

the 1-31 people were pretty pushy about the fact that i spend more time on 12-18 than on them... I made it perfectly clear that i'm going to remain perfectly loyal to my Christmas cruisers even though it's longer off. Be Happy- i know everyone here much better than there!!

We have to pack the house and move before we can begin to think about packing for this trip. I am curious to see if they add another semi-formal or formal night too??? Anyone know where the laundry room is on deck 8? We will definately need it.

I was the one asking about who would be at WDW near Easter. We are supposed to be at the Boardwalk Villas April 3-10. We are still waiting for DH to get more info on our move and hopefully it won't ruin the vacation plans. If we don't go then we will definately reschedule because we have annual passes that expire at the end of June and need to get another trip in before that.

At least the sun is shinning today, even if its only 25 degrees!!
Have a great day :sunny:

I am the planner in our family - since we booked this cruise I have been busy reading all the past cruise trip reports on the DIS - everyone seems to have such a fantastic time I can't wait until 18th December.
We are over at WDW for Easter from 27th March to 16th April so I plan to drive over to the port on one of the Magic's port days to see if we can get a look at her and check out some hotels.
I haven't been able to book flights from the UK yet but we plan on flying into Orlando on 17th and staying overnight near the port so we are ready bright and early in the morning for the cruise.
Have any of you cruised on any other cruise lines? Our only other cruise was with P&O this Xmas but we have been looking at possibly Celebrity, NCL and Royal Caribbean for 2005. P&O was very child friendly and I'm kind of assuming Disney will be.
Its very important to us that the kids have a good time so a good youth program is absolutely essential so your comments would be most welcome.

Oh my gosh If I were to let my husband pack he would pack either the last minute which he would do (which also drives me nuts) or he would forget stuff. As for my DD who will be 7 in March she is a total pack rat. If she could she would pack her entire bedroom. We let her pack one small suitcase to her grandmother's house and it was stuffed with everything. I can just imange what she will be like when she is a teenager. I am ok if I start my list two weeks before we go away and pack the week of and make sure it is all done the day before we fly. I really should be one a few days before but it is the last minute stuff. I am glad I am not the only one who packs for the whole family. I am also the Total trip planner. My DH has never planned a trip or called to book reservations before we go away. I do all the investigating and he goes along with the program. That is one of the things I love about him is that he is so easy going. He is to busy to even look into all this stuff. I love doing it. I should of been a travel agent.

Have a great day everyone. Talk to you soon. Fondly-Gail::MinnieMo

Can't pack yet. I intend to be smaller by next December, and I'm sure DD will be bigger (growth spurt). This is going to be an expensive trip!

Gail, if you're thinking you might want to stay at a DVC, look into it now! Decide where you want to stay and rent the points from someone that has that one as a home resort. By seven months out, those resorts are pretty much booked, though you could probably stay at OKW. BCV studios have more amenities than a standard room at BC, though the second bed is a pull-out couch.

I'm going to backtrack through these posts, and make a list of everyone that wants to sit in the same area for second seating. I'll post it here, then we can figure out how to accomplish it. If we keep this up, we might be able to have our own DIS rotation in both seatings! Kind of like how we will take over Palos for brunch.

Maybe we could also figure out who will be staying AFTER the cruise at WDW. We might consider it. Can't go before, DD is already missing three days of school if we fly out the night of the 17th. We won't be able to DVC for New Year's, too many points, but might be able to stay at Swan/Dolphin. Anyone up for a NYE Illuminations cruise? Bet that's hard to get! Diana

Whoa, two posts in a row.

Angela, welcome to our group. Yes, DCL is very kid friendly, and you will have a great time too. Excellent choice! We have cruised on Celebrity and I can tell you they are NOT kid friendly.

Here's our group so far for second seating, I will post this again whenever it needs an update:

Dancind (Diana, Kevin, DD12)
DVC4US (Leilani, DH, DD15, DD8)
WVMD (Virgil, DW, DD19, DD10)
Jilljill (Jill, DH, DD10)
GaRy (GaRy, DW, kid1? , kid2? )
Tdk lisa (Lisa, DH, kid11, kid12, in-laws)

Is anyone going to be at WDW the week of August 9? DD and I will be at BCV for six nights, she would love a friend to do the slide with! Once down the slide is good for me. Diana

Diana, FYI, the 11 year old is a DS, and the 12 year old is a DD.

Angela, you will be so happy with the kid-friendliness of Disney cruise line, that you won't believe it! Everything is set up to make things easier for parents! I'm not going to say that your kids will love the kids programs, because not all of them do, but it runs the gamut from kid-friendly food nearly all waking hours, to bathtubs in the staterooms, to movies that you won't worry about your kid seeing, to family style cabaret shows, etc. etc.

I know some folks that took a parallel western caribbean when we were on our first one (actually, there were two separate families we knew who were on the same ship! Small world, huh). When we started comparing notes when we returned, they both said that they would definitly do DCL if they took the kids again. The kids programs were limited, the food wasn't geared toward them, etc.

IMO, it's worth the money to know that we'll all have a good time!

Hi everybody!

All this talk of packing is very distressing to me, since I've done nothing else since early October! I must admit right now P*** is a 4-letter word in my vocabulary! But I did go thru all my summer and cruise wear from last year and separated out what I need for the 1/31 cruise. My suitcase is open and being filled as I pack the rest of the house into boxes! Anything I come across that needs to go with us gets tossed at the suitcase in the bedroom. Randy will be packing for himself and meeting us in Orlando on 1/30 - who knows what he'll remember, or not! Last year he managed to forget his swimsuit.

Miss Jilly Bean is very excited about this! When she opened her present (her cruise docs) she couldn't figure out what was going on! She said, "I already know about the Christmas Cruise!" We were saying to her, look at the date, look at the itinerary! She was clueless - about 10 minutes later she suddenly says: "That's 2 weeks from now!!!" I was sure she'd figured it out. What a coup!

We're going down ahead of Randy to check out the colleges she's been accepted at, and to put a few more days on our annual passes!

The next few days are going to be tough as I get each room finished. Randy left home yesterday for the last time as did our #2 son, Collin. Pretty sad stuff. Jill and I have to finish everything else. The "SOLD" sign finally went up today. This is really tough stuff after 27 years in Wheaton, and 18 years in this house.

We are late seating also - put us on the list - Karyn, Randy (DH); Princess Jill (DD-18); Collin (DS#2-21); Derek (DS#1-23) and his Elaina (DFiance-23)!

It will be great to actually know some people before we even get on the cruise. I can't believe I've finally found people who plan their holidays as far in advance as I do.

Hi all-I'm new here on this thread. We are DVC members since 1994. Just wanted to check in and let you know that there are 13 of us, 4 staterooms, category 11. 5 kids/grandkids (ages 1 1/2, 2, 4, 5, 12) and the rest adults. I gave all the kids and grandkids this cruise gift for Christmas 2003. They are all so excited they want to get on the ship tomorrow. We are flying in on Dec 17, and we have early seating for dinner. It's too hard to do the late seating with those young grandkids. Have been on 6 previous Disney Cruises and am counting down the days. Anyway, that's the scoop, I'm already setting things aside to pack for the cruise. As I put away my 2003 Christmas, I put Christmas stuff I am bringing to decorate the rooms for Christmas 2004.

I'll check back soon!

Hi everyone. Welcome Ineeley. We have at the time of cruising a 3.5 year old DS and an almost 8 year old DD. We are also early seating. If you and your family are intrested in joining us for a Palo brunch on a day we are at sea let me know. All the children will be going to the Children's program on that morning. I will know the date hopefully 3-4 months before we crusie. I spoke to the Palo manager and he informed me when we were on the crusie in August that is when I should make all the arrangements.

I am getting together tables for the early seating as I mentioned a few pages back. I have one table of 9 already set. If anyone else is intrested you can let me know and I will get another table next to ours set up and hopefully we can all be on the same rotation as well.

LeiLani, I would appreciate it when you cruise on DC if you could find out as well for me about setting up the tables and rotation. That would be a big help to me as I am also setting up the Palo Brunch which is taken care of until we get closer.

Lisa and Mary Thanks for the advisse for the DVC renting. I will defentily post in the next few days to see if I can get a studio or 1 bedroom for those dates as it will be around Dec15-18. I just am concerned pulling my daughter out also as she will be missing 3 days of school for the cruise. It will be way to crowded and expensive for us to stay after the cruise. We can also stay at the inlaws in Boynton beach after the crusie. We would rent a car and drive about 3-4 hours. We shall see. All these decisions. We do want to hit WDW while we are there. Speak to you all soon. Gail1771::MinnieMo

Diana and everyone else, I guess after 1420 posts and 96 pages that I will reveal my 'real' name to everyone since there are so many Jill's going on this cruise, it is Barb. DH is Jay and DD is Alexa. So I guess you have to update your list.
Also, we are supposed to be at WDW the week of Aug. 6, but I may move that up a week so DH and DD can get more days out of their annual. But who knows, I may keep those dates and renew theirs that week.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Just an FYI, first name Linda (for the LNEELEY), Anyway, I am so excited to join this board. I am a huge Disney fan, I wish the cruise was tomorrow! (Well, maybe not tomorrow since I haven't lost the weight I want and am not packed. Anyway, I am jumping for joy today (just like Tigger), I had to wait till 11 months out to try to use my DVC points for the cruise (at least for 2 people out of the 13). Anyway, called right at 9 a.m. EST, and I was able to convert my DH and myself to points and save $4,726.70! I was hoping I would be able to do that since I was paying for the whole thing. My DH doesn't even know how much this cruise is costing, I just booked the whole thing. (I think he thinks we are using points for the whole thing, which I wish was true). Anyway, when I have time one day, I'll have to tell all of you how I gave the gift to all the kids. I work full time for a non-profit and I am getting ready for a 10 day audit by our outside accountants, so I don't know how often I'll be able to check the boards, but I'll try to check back as often as possible. I think it was Gail who mentioned about Palo's. I'll check with our grown kids (late 20"s early 30's) It is my DH birthday today (54) and I am 44. Anyway talk to you all soon!

Linda, welcome! When you get a chance, several of us here are DVC, and very curious about how many points this cost you (and what category). Thanks! Diana

lneeley
01-20-2004, 11:59 AM
We are in Category 11 and it cost 333 points each for the two adults, I then paid cash for our 12 year old $1,264.35. We have 400 points each year.

For comparison, Category 6 is 516 points for each adult and 206 for the 12 year old. Category 9 is 417 points for each adult and 178 points for the 12 year old.

We usually stay in Cat. 6 and use points, but with all 13 of us, the only way I could justify going on this expensive cruise was having everyone stay in category 11.

As long as just one person in the stateroom uses points, you can book through DVC. The only bad thing was I had to pay the $1,264.35 today, but I then got my $750 deposit back on the initial reservation, so it wasn't too painful.

Also, since we are out in the west, (Utah), we only get to DW once every year, or two at the most. We do frequent trips to DL since we can drive there in 10 hours, or catch a cheap flight to California.

Hope this helps. If you are thinking about using DVC points, I would call pretty fast. Today was the first day you could book this cruise on points.

Linda

Hi GaRry, That is great about the price and the discount. That is so cool two DC in one year. Is it the Western or Eastern?? Is everyone going or is this a romantic getaway?? Either way it is fun. I like romance once in a while . It keeps the relationship hot and fun. My DH is much more romantic than myself but I still love it. I can't wait to get out of cold NY and on a cruise. 24 days to go to Celebrity Summit- Yeah!!!! Especially since there will be no small children in toe. It has been bitter cold the past few days. My regards to Vicki. Talk to you all soon. Fondly, Gail1771

Just popping in to give an update and give this thread a bump.

Had my meeting today and while I think the meeting will definately lead to a job offer I'm not sure its one I'll accept.
It is for a much smaller company than I'm used to and I've been spoiled by some really good benefits. So even though the job looks great short term (pay would be in the range I'm in now, vacation time would not be a problem, etc.) I'm not comfortable about long term (insurance benefits etc.).

This is the first time I've ever really looked for a job while I still had a job so I want to make sure its the right one.:D

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers please that the right job and I find each other!

David said I could put the trivia questions in the newsletter - I think that will be a nice treat for those who don't read the thread all the time.

David I really love your questions and can't wait to see the next batch. When we are on the cruise you'll have to share with me where you come up with them. They led me on some wonderful searches!

Mary, hope the perfect job comes along soon. I know the stress of a bad job situation can really make you sick.

Hey, I want to go on another cruise! I'm not even sure I'm going to swing a week in WDW in August. I have always sold collectables on Ebay, in addition to my "real" job, to pay for our trips. Ebay has been awful lately, everyone wants to buy for nothing. Since I won't give my stuff away, that means no cash coming in. Sigh. I guess there's always credit cards. Happy Wednesday evening everyone. We made the decision to use one of our timeshare weeks with Marriott for the week before the cruise in December as I really wanted a 2 bedroom for the kids. I would of taken a one bedroom but DD and DS would be fighting over where to sleep and it is not worth the stress before the cruise. I also wanted to save some spending money for the cruise which would of gone to staying at WDW. I am so excitied that I went onto Intervalworld.com to do an exchange for the cancelled week I had from not going this April break and they had a 3 bedroom at the Marriott Grand Vista near Sea World so I grabbed it. Everyone has there own bedroom. It is for Dec 12th to Dec 19th. We will probably only use a few days due to school and work but it only cost me the exchange fee and Insurance. Good deal for a total of $180.00. We will just rent a car for a few days and we will drop it off in Cocca Beach near the cruise port. We will also save on car service one way to the cruise port. We need to start saving for this cruise as soon as we get back in Feb. The kids really also want to do Sea World so this works out great for us. I would of considered after the cruise but they only had studio's with a limited kitchen plus we really arent into the crowds at that time.

Sorry GaRry we will not be staying at the Radission the night before we cruise. We will have to meet you all on the ship. It was such a good deal I could not pass it up.

Have a great night everyone. Fondly-Gail1771

Morning all! Here's my contribution to 1500! And I'd love to have more of our group join us in cruise chat! Unfortunately, I'll be hosting a sleepover for 6 darline little 11 year olds this Friday night, so I doubt I'll be in chat. They did want to watch POC, so maybe if they actually WATCH the movie, I might be able to chat. Have to see how that goes!

For those who don't chat, Alex (a moderator on the boards) gave me a shark avatar. We had been talking about the fact that I'm a 2nd degree black belt, and he decided I was the aggressive type, hence the shark!

As to Friday the 17th, I've got DH checking into our Hilton honors points. If it looks like we might have enough points for rooms, we'll probably stay somewhere that we can use those points. I'm not sure if radisson is in the Hilton family, but I don't think they are. If we don't have enough points, I think we'll priceline near MCO, since I've had good luck with that.

Looking at historic park hours for Dec, I'm planning on the last thing we do at WDW on the 17th being Fantasmic, which would put us back at the airport about 8:30 or so. I think driving to the port would just be a bit much after a full day in the parks. I'll do some laundry in the morning of the 18th (that way all the warm clothes can be clean, and just stay in our suitcases until the 28th!) and head out to port about 9 or 9:30, for arrival in line about 11 (WAYYYYY behind Vicki and GaRry!)

OBTW, assuming I can do it right, check out my new WISH clippie!

Happy Thursday all! Lisa

Diana,

I know what you mean regarding soo many pins. We hot 7000 pins last year, and then stopped counting. I was a moderator on Dizpins for 2 years, and have been an administrator on Pinpics for many years now. Of course I will be bringing pins to trade! Thats the best part of the hobby. We usually spend about 30 minutes a night pin trading on the couchs right next to the pin cart when it comes out around 7pm on the ship.

:jumping2:

Gail,

great choice on the grande vista. We own a three bedroom there. It is great. Do you own there, or at a different Marriott?

David I'd love to be able to sit with you some night and take a look at your pins. I'm more a collector than a trader and quite frankly a little intimidated by most of the traders I've met. Godd morning everyone. Happy Thursday.

David, I still ahve your pin from the DC in August. When you get a chance send me an e mail. Mabye since we live so close together we can get togther in the spring. My DD would love it and it would be great for her to have a friend she has met in person on the crusie. E mailing is also great for all of us. I am e mailing quite often with DebsHill as her son is about 6 months older than mine. Ethan and Jake are to young to e mail.
Are you early seating?? If you are I am setting up a second table for dining and rotation. If you are intrested let me know. We would love it if we were all together.

We own two Marriott timeshares. We own at Marriott Ocean Pointe in Palm Beach Shores(Singer Island) directly on the beach and we love it. We have a two bedroom. We also own at Marriott Horizons in Orlando directly across from Grand Vista. DH,DD and in laws stayed at Grand Vista a few years back when I was pregnant with DS and could not fly. I was at bed rest so they all went and loved it. Marriott Horizions is great for the kids. They have a pirate ship in the middle of the pool and zero water walk in which is great for the little ones and an interactive water park. It is suppose to be really built up for the kids in the next few years. I like it but we shall see if we are going to keep it. We own a third week at South Seas Planation on Captiva Island(right after Sanibel) near fort Myers Florida for all who do not know the west coast that well. IT is so beautiful right on the beach. We have had it for 10 years and have only used it twice. We use to trade it a lot. We do not need 3 time shares so we put it on the Market in October with the resort time share office. I also will probably sell it via internet(Red Week or another site). It is also a two bedroom on the beach. Great place for sea shelling. Actually top 5 in the U.S. We will miss thinking about it but 3 maint. is to much for me and we all like to cruise once a year. You can only vacation so much with the kids and work schedule for DH.
I am psched for the Grand Vista and DC. I wish it was now!!!
David if you get a chance can you also e mail me the activities they have for children there. I read they are under construction and building a huge 3 tiew pool??? I hope it is done by the time we go.
Anyway have a great day everyone. Talk to you all soon. Fondly-Gail1771

David - we also have a DD who will be 8.5 when we cruise. She does not know about it yet so when it gets closer and she does maybe we can get your DD and mine together on email.

garRy - any new information on the April cruise? We would really like to have you join us (PUSH-PUSH) :cool2:

Gail - we now own 3 time shares also. We have had DVC since 1998 and while we were in Hawaii in Dec we purchase points with Hilton (some in Hawaii, and some in Las Vegas). We figure now all of our vacation accomomdations are paid for. Except when we take a cruise :boat: on DCL of course.:teeth:

Good morning everybody!

I'm sorry I have been kinda absent lately. I can hardly keep up right now w/ the 1/31 thread, and I'm on that cruise! We did a great job of surprising Jilly Bean. I found another couple thru the thread with an 18 yr old son that we will be sitting with, hence, Jill's very own "King" for her cruise. My wolrd right now is packing packing packing - the house needs to be all boxed up before we leave next Thursday. I'm so close to the ABE (all but essentials) stage that I'm taking a day off today.

Virgil, very naughty trying to snipe our 2000th post! I'm going for 2500 - so you be good!

Anybody else going to be at WDW next Thursday and Friday? Jill and I are flying down early.

Jill has been enjoying NOT being in school and has been celebrating by SHOPPING! She even managed to drag me out for a little pre-cruise trip to my favorite store!

Anyway, I miss being here, and once the dust has settled (probably not till the end of Feb or so) I'll be back here much more regularly! Especially since my priorities won't be divided any more.

Hi Leilani, My DD is almost 7 and will be almost 8 for the cruise. She is very mature and always hangs with older children. When we were in the caymans she hung aroung with two girls one was 7 and the other 10. They had a blast. Anyway I would love it if my DD could join in with the e mails when you all do it. Count us in. she loves the computer.

Do you own two weeks at Hilton and one at DVC??? Do you use all 3 weeks every year or even two weeks and bank the points??
The only reason I am asking is beacuse I was wondering if it is worth it to keep all 3 weeks. We bank our Marriott points every other year either the two weeks or 1 week. We have enough points for free air to Hawaii and a free week stay at this point in time. When you get a chance i would love to hear how you use your weeks. We would love to own with DVC but at this point in time we can not afford to lay any more $ out with the extension at our house in progress and I am not working at this moment. Mabye in the future when we sell South Seas Planation and if we sell Marriott Horizons in the future. Talk to you soon. Fondly-Gail1771::MinnieMo

always a pleasure to discuss pins. I am totally a pin collector first, a trader secondary, and never a seller. Since my pins take up about 10 pin bags, I do not transport them too often, but I usually bring a full bag of traders with me when we go to the parks or cruisin'. If you want to see any specific pins in person, just let me know before we cruise, and I will bring them along for the ride! I know how you feel about some traders ... there are some bad apples out there who have cast a bad intimidating shadow on the rest of the folks.

Just remember a few things about pin trading, if you are happy with the trade, that is all the matters. Not what someone else thinks about your trade.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder e.g. one man's trash is another man's gem!

And, if you don't have that warm fuzzy feeling about any proposed trade, you always have the option of saying no and walking away.

David and Gail - sounds great about getting the kids together with emails. When we let them know about the cruise I will get let you guys know.

Gail - both DVC and Hilton are a points based system so we really do not own specific weeks. If you want to equate it to the week system I would say we own 2 weeks at DVC, 1 week in Hawaii, and 1 week in Las Vegas. We have always used all of our points from DVC (including borrowing from the next year). This year we finally got to a point where we are not borrowing from the next year and I might bank points so we can do a big Grand Villa in the summer of 2005. DD will turn 16 that year and I thought it might be nice to take a few of her friends to WDW. We just purchased the Hilton points (as a matter of fact we are still waiting for the Deeds) but I am sure we will use them every year. We like to vacation a lot (it is the only way I can get DH away from work) so we will see how it goes. Is Marriott a specific week based system or a points system?

Now, the question REALLY is: do i take my green & white crocheting with me down south, or would that make those 1-31 folk jealous? hmmmmmm

Lei Lani,

The Marriott is not a specific week. You buy in a certain time frame . We own in the time frame December through April with the Marriott at Ocean Point in Florida which is plantium week so we have better trading power and we can get a unit at our home resort much eaiser during that time frame and we can book out 13 months at your home resort. The Marriott Horizons in Florida we own a week which is silver. It is the Month of May, some of June and September1st through December15th. It might even be also the end of August I am not sure on that. We use to go away Thanksgiving to Aruba every year and trade but it is hard for DH to take off at that time. He is usually wrapping up a job before the Holiday break. I also love to travel a lot and it also gets DH away from work. We try to go away 3-4 times a year. One vacation is always visiting family in Florida for a week. Eventhough the weather is nice I do not consider it a vacation with all the running around and driving. This year we will be vacationing 2 times alone and 2 times with the children. Actually April break it will just be DD and myself in Florida DH is working and DS will be home with my mom, DH and babysitter for the week. We will be visiting the in laws in Boynton Beach, Fla. for passover.

I have no use for our third timeshare as it has no point value and it is a set week in October. It is Columbus wee in October. We bought in before DD was born and we always used it to trade through Interval International. I would rather have points, no set week or DVC for flexibility. Talk to you soon. Fondly Gail1771

Gail, is the Singer Island TS the one you have no use for? I'd better not mention that one to DH, he'll want to buy it! He loves the scuba diving on the East coast of FL. I suppose he will want to live near there when we "retire" to FL, but I have other ideas.

David, DD and I will be at most of the pin trading hours too. We've been collecting since 2001. Still haven't found my Holy Grail pins, the first two DCL A/C pins. Mary, you really have to keep up on pin stuff to know what a good trade is, and that's so hard if you don't live there. There are people in Orlando (we've met them) that are really SERIOUS about this, and devote several nights a week to it. We've actually been to pin trading nights at the All Stars and Contemporary a couple of times. There weren't many traders on our Oct. '02 cruise, but we had fun.

So, who likes to dance? DH and I are former (part-time) dance instructors (very, very rusty), mostly swing & country, but a little ballroom. We didn't find much opportunity on our last DCL cruise, but will try a little harder this time. Celebrity was actually pretty good for that.
