Dinner in Japan

We would like to have dinner in Japan when we visit Epcot. I was wondering if anyone could help me out and let me know where I should go. There are five of us 3 boys from 6 to 10.

The Teppanyaki is a sit-down restaurant where the chefs cook right in front of you on a flat grill. It's quite a show and a lot of fun for children. We have two of these types of restaurants in my town, and we often go for birthdays, holidays, and with visitors. You sit with other diners around the grill and are served at the same time. (You may want to warn your children ahead of time, though, that the grill may flare up but that it's OK -- I've seen a few kids get scared by the fire)

The entrees consist of single or combinations of meat and seafood: shrimp, chicken, steak, lobster, etc., served with grilled veggies, rice and salad. They may have a child's menu, too. Check out the menu database on wdwinfo.com

The Yakitori House is counter service with skewered meats and other Japanese style foods. It's been a while since I've been there, but I remember thinking that it was one of the better fast food restaurants at WDW. It's not as fancy as the Teppanyaki, but is less expensive.

Both are good choices. There is also another restaurant in Japan that serves Tempura-style food. I haven't been there (yet!) but hear that it's good.

Tempura Kiku. Someplace between Teppenyaki and Yakatori House. Sit at a counter. Tempura bar which serves sushi. No PS. Very good food. Hard to seat large parties.

Matsunoma Lounge - Sushi and drinks.

You probably want Teppenyaki. You'll NEED to make PS. This is a very popular restaurant.

Are you planning on lunch or dinner? I would suggest lunch at Teppanyaki. You could even do a late lunch. It isn't as busy at lunch and the prices are cheaper. But you get PLENTY of food! They have the best rice I have ever eaten!

I was actually planning dinner, but late lunch isn't a bad idea. Thanks for the input.:D

Mickeymost; tried Teppanyaki on our first trip ('96) when DS was 12 and twin DD's were 6. They all loved it and it was quite entertaining. This is our WDW family tradition, as we always spend our last evening eating here. We have expanded this to include lunch our last two years. You will have a great time.
