View Full Version : Heard Anymore About A 10-Day Christmas/New Year's Cruise?

I was just wondering if there had been any decision made about a 10-day Christmas/New Year's cruise? I believe I had read something about that earlier this year, and I believe it was Webmaster Michelle (correct me if I'm wrong, please) that said that Disney was still kicking the idea around and would have a decision in a couple of months. Does anybody know what I'm talking about or is this just wishful thinking on my part?;)

Yes, I do know what you're talking about.

They are putting the idea of a 10 day cruise forward for the holidays, specifically because they'd be in a closed port for both holidays. Nothing firm was set as far as what an itinerary could be at the time I was told this, about a month ago.

Sit tight, more info should be forthcoming by the end of the month. :)

I heard that the Wonder was going on a 3 day cruise Dec. 21, instead of a 4 day and perhaps it would be the Wonder that made a 10 day covering Christmas and New Years-WOW wouldn't that be fun!!!

I'd start thinking hard about it NOW!~

the concierge at AKL told us they will be doing a 10 day cruise-not if it is this year.

I just want to clarify...

We are talking about December 2004, correct?

I recall hearing the same rumor about a month ago. I called DCL and was basically told "we can neither confirm nor deny the presence of a ten day cruise for the holidays...now, please move along Sir."

So an official announcement by the end of the month would be GREAT!!!

Sounds like so much fun. And so much money! Will have to start saving for that one.

Mike, when I talked with DCL about the alternate ports - the only comment made by the rep was, "You might change your mind again after we come out with the rest of December 2004. "

Former CM's have tipped us off that they were informed that December 2004 would probably be a longer cruise due to Christmas and New Years on Saturday.

Again, until it's set in concrete, DCL will not make a formal comment, but forewarned is....well, changing schedules maybe AGAIN!

Hi Rae

Thanks for the additional info. It really makes the cruise sound promising. As soon as it is announced, we'll be calling DCL! And it sounds like it might end up being a DIS meet cruise at that.

I will post it as soon as I see/hear anything. Like I did with the other ports of call.

Last bit of information said that July 1 would be the announcement date, but I'd start looking before that! Wonder what the DVC points would be for it!

I called Disney today to check on something and asked about the 10 day cruise. I was told to call back on Monday. Sounds promising and I just found out that the Disney Visa is interest free for 6 months when booking vacations directly through Disney. Yeah!!! :Pinkbounc

Happy Cruising!

Do you know the date of the 10 day?

They won't tell you anything. If you ask for the 7-day at that time they just tell you that it is not available yet.

Happy Cruising!

Available Monday!

I was informed that it would be sailing on Saturday the 25th, but I find that hard to fathom but time will tell!LOL

Also mentioned was Key West, St. Lucia, Antigua(sp), St. Thomas, St. Martin, Castaway Cay.

But like I keep reiterating, Monday seems to be the day!

If it sails on the 25th I don't think we'd be interested. Just too much traffic at the airport on Christmas and Christmas Eve.

I was hoping they would do the 4 day first on the 18th and then we would sail on the 22nd so be on the ship for both Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve - then get off the ship on New Years Day.

Oh well. We'll call on Monday and see what the deal is and then decide.

If we embarked on the 23rd, we could disembark on Jan 2. By doing that you wouldn't be getting on or off the ship on any holiday OR the "holiday eve." I'd also hate to get off on the 1st after a very very late night on the 31st (including packing up your luggage on NYE)

So I'm crossing my fingers for dec 23-jan 2! :)

Which would also mean we'd be sailing on my birthday!!! (28th!)

Can't wait for Monday (even though I start jury duty that day--I can see them dismissing me because I'm babbling stuff about a cruise and can't focus on the case!)

I wish it was Monday already! There is your good way out of jury duty. Just keep talking about the "Mouse" and I am sure they will think you are a nut!

Happy Cruising!

I think that strategy about going on and on about the DCL will work - then throw in things like verandahman, buckaroo's dad, etc. and they will really send you home FAST!

"I gotta go talk to the Mouse!"

They will have you outta there even before you enter the door!LOL

Is it Monday Yet?

It can't be the 23rd, 'cause I have to do Payroll and Bonuses, that is if we get any! One of the disadvantages of being a one person office!

Yeah! That's great! I can say stuff like "well, my friend, buckaroo's dad....." and "oh, this lady I know, rae519,...." and "I think verandahman would know the answer to this question....."

or "can I phone a friend? the number is 1-800-951-3532 (DCL)....then hit "1" because you speak english....."

My eyes are going to be glazed over with anticipation of a cruise that is 18 months away --funny b/c we have 3 cruises between now and then and may be adding a 4th if "work" decides to have a group cruise.

Or, oh, gosh, I hate to even entertain the idea.....Or I'll be bawling hysterically b/c the cruise was sold out by the time we called and we didn't get in.

I'm confused. If you are a one person office, that makes you the BOSS and the EMPLOYEE, right? So, as the boss, tell your employee to make out the bonus checks and do payroll on the 21st. If your employee refuses, then that is grounds for being fired!

That way if I fire the me, I can go! But without this job I can't afford to go!LOL

The guys in the back are paid hourly and the powers that be (owners of the company) don't like to pay out if they don't have to ! But then again, if I start talking Disney again! they will push me out the door just so as not to hear about it! They just don't understand!;)

This is what happens when your DD gets to go out and you get stuck doing laundry!LOL

It looks like the Christmas 2004 is leaving on the 25th!

When you access the Dreams Ad, go straight down to the bottom where they show the dates that this special involve. It's in the small print!LOL It's at the beginning of the "Cruise Line Boards", First Announcement.

It shows that the "Magic" leaves on the 25th. It does not mention the itinerary, though, but it's a start. This means I don't have to fire myself!

It also gives the dates for the "Wonder".

But have yet to have coffee so cannot function yet!LOL

OK, so, if the info starts tomorrow, and the DU stateromm credit is good if you book tomorrow for travel THRU 2004, then bonus, we would get the stateroom credits, correct?

I just wish I was ready to actually BOOK tomorrow.:(

Disney1fan2002, can't you just put a hold on something until you are ready to decide.

Cause if my info is correct, the ports of call sound awsome!

DD, you is leary about sailing, practically begged me to book!

Of course, it all comes down to finances!

Something to think about!

Good Luck

The date shows on DU, but when you try to make a reservation - you can only get as far as 12/11/04.

Still you can write in your request on the "additional info" area and see what happens!

I am still thinking this would be a great way to celebrate the holidays!

Usually everyone wants weekends to last a long time. I'm just wishing this one would be OVER WITH ALREADY!!!!

I can't believe not that long ago I was dreading June 23rd (jury duty) and now I can't wait for it to get here (DCL) Of course, I will be receiving $30 a day for jury duty, so I can apply that to my Dec 2004 cruise! :)

rae519
06-22-2003, 01:35 PM
I'll take your jury duty - I have always wanted to be called in for it!
SSHEESH! I've never been called and only know one person that has. Wonder what's going on here in Indiana?! Ohhh, I know - silly question!

I did fill out a reservation form for DU regarding the December 10 day cruise - nothing can be done til tomorrow! I agree, I wish the weekend was over!
