I knocked it off as soon as I felt the "prick" but now I'm going to worry about West Nile Virus for the next several days. :(

I didn't intend to work in my garden ~ I had been potting some impatients in my garage ~ but saw some grass that was going to seed growing in a nearby flower garden. You know how it is, you gotta stop everything to go pull it out and once you get started......

I came in the house and scrubbed my arm with detergent and a scrub brush.

that's the last thing you need! You have enough on your plate right now as it is.

Thanks, Janet. If it weren't for the fact that a dead crow was just confirmed positive for West Nile where I live, I probably wouldn't be concerned.

We had better get out our Deet, Amid!

I don't know which is worse!

Be careful with DEET, it can kill too!

Pretty soon we will all have to go around wearing suits of armour!

The chances of you getting west nile from a single mosquito bite are pretty small even in area's that have it.

From the Center for Disease Control :

Q. If I live in an area where birds or mosquitoes with West Nile virus have been reported and a mosquito bites me, am I likely to get sick?
A. No. Even in areas where the virus is circulating, very few mosquitoes are infected with the virus. Even if the mosquito is infected, less than 1% of people who get bitten and become infected will get severely ill. The chances you will become severely ill from any one mosquito bite are extremely small.

I bumped up the West Nile thread, Julie. There's lots of good info on it. :)
