View Full Version : Are you going to buy SSR?

Anyone waiting for pre-sales of SSR?

If you had the chance, would you do a 100 pt add on at BWV or would you wait and do the add on at SSR?

I'd love to hear your opinions on this subject.

Thanks in advance.

We are kind of torn right now. We have been thinking about adding at SSR if we like it when we visit. But the thought of the price per point going up again has been making us rethink our decision to wait. We are now thinking about adding at Vero again instead. We love Vero and we usually travel to WDW during the first part of May. So far we've had no problems with getting a room pretty much at any of the resorts at 6 or 7 months out during that time frame. Then again we have been thinking about buying a resale for OKW. We already own there and love it. The main reason for buying there would be to get grand villas when we bring the whole family with us. Right now we have 200 points there, but it isn't enough for an entire week in a grand villa. Decisions! Decisions!

Since no one's answered yet, I'll at least give my opinion. I was the one "escorted out" of SSR when nosey me was trying to look around a couple weeks ago. I have no desire to buy or stay there, unless I hear some great reports after it opens. For one thing, I'm scared of it being so close to PI and the possibility of late-night noise. For another, a CM told us that the pro shop for LBV golf course would be incorporated into it-he told us that knowing that DH loves golf, and hoped this might interest us. But DH has no desire to move from OKW, where for one thing he can see the golf course from his balcony (admittedly, usually through palm trees). Also, the theming just doesn't appeal to me-BCV theming does!

I am torn...We really like BCV. But I really wanted to do a OKW resale for the Grand Villas too.

BUT, I just read the Clubhouse news that the theming is going to include horses. Well, my DD is a horsefreak so maybe we will buy at SSR because they are going to have GVs too.

But OKW resale will be much cheaper...but I still have to get the money for it so I am just wishing!

I'm pondering the same question and fear that I'll end up with 100 points of each. I'll probably buy BWV now and see what type of DVC member incentive they offer for SSR.

We will wait to see what the final product is, but my wife already gave the green light for the add-on... :)

I'll predict it will be bought much like VB. That is for those that want into the system and that's about all that's available and for those that want to use it occasionally. I can't see many saying they want to stay there most every trip.

No thanks, I'm holding out for Polynesian Villas! :teeth:

Plus we're out of money, and have all the points we need for the moment.

But I sure hope *somebody* buys it!

I'd definitely buy BW given the reliable history it's had.... I'd use points to visit SSR however....

Dean, just curious... Was VB ever the only resort available?

I could be wrong, but the feeling I get here is that VB owners do indeed enjoy going to VB. For us, the only reason we purchased VB points is to specifically have the 11 month window there.

But regardless price put in in the situation where some bought just to get into the system.

We won't be buying SSR, seems a little to far of the beaten path. We prefer being closer to that action and the crescent lake area. There's also potential for it to be overun by the DD hotel guests who are just visiting and sight seeing (with wet swimming trunks on).

We are also Vero owners who wanted the 11 month window for peak seasons and beach front villas.

I'm scared.

If we do the BWV add-on I'm afraid we won't use it enough.

We actually go to the beach more than WDW-we LOVE VB!

Would 100 pts translate into a 2 br every other year. We could do that.

We are planning on being in Clermont a lot so DH can spend time at the Triathlon Center and there aren't any good hotels there.

If we end up not liking the 100 pt add-on can that be sold as a seperate entity from the VB points?

I'm not trying to sound negative and I'm sure we would use the points but I just ask all kinds of questions about big purchases like this, just to make sure I am doing the right thing.

We pondered the same question, but decided that the chance to add-on at BWV was just too good to be true. We bought 100 BWV pts, w/Dec. use year on Memorial Day. We were going down a quick long weekend & had arranged to do the add-on before we left with our guide, Lise DeRosa. She had everyting ready; we sat down w/one of their notaries, signed away & it was ours.

We love BWV (but also own at BCV for SAB, and WLV) & are glad we did the add-on, but the artist sketch of the SSR pool looks great. I guess we'll wait and see the final product before we decide if we need(???) more points!

We will not. We have more points than dh's vacation time will allow. Until he gets more time off a year, we're stuck! Unless of course I take the kids and go without him....

Well, I have stated before and will state again, we stayed in the area when it was the Fairway Villas, I believe, and our room was right on the water an we saw the then Empress Lilly from our bed at night, beautiful site, and there was not a noise problem.

I also believe it is enough of a walk from DD that there will not be that much of a problem with curious guests. That could also be solved by having a gate that you had to use your room key to pass through.

I believe I would love to own there, but will reserve judgment totally until I see some of the room layouts, sizes, etc.

I think it will be a beautiful resort with a great location, but we have enough points at OKW and VB. We will use our points to stay at SSR on occasion using the 7 month window.

I guess I'd have to see SSR after it was finished to make a decision about an add-on there. I doubt that we'd do an add on at SSR, though. We are thinking of adding 100 points at VB or possibly HH somewhere down the road. We've never been to either, but we're pretty sure that we're actually moving to FL next year. If we do that, it would be nice to have the 11-month window at VB just for something "different" :) Even if we don't end up adding on at VB or HH, we are likely going to add 100 points SOMEWHERE...we both agree that our ideal point amount would be about 300, and our BWV contract is only 200 points.

I currently have 300 points at Beach Club Villas. My goal is to add on at some point and I will consider all options.

The pool at Saratoga Springs will be a big factor for my family. My spouse & kids love SAB and I will have to fight them if the pool at SSR is only so-so.

The other factor for me will be the ending date. Will it be 2042 like all of the other DVC properties, or will they have an extended date in the 2050's? Just a couple of things I will consider. I will also look at adding on at both BWV and BCV.

We'll probably stay there at some point since my husband loves to golf, but we won't be adding on SSR points.

I would love to add on there. We have stayed at the Fairway Villias where we would rent a golf cart and take it to downtown Disney nearly everyday. However, the noise could definately be an issue. Every night, Pleasure Island sets off fireworks at midnight. When we stayed at what was once call the vacation homes, (located right on the water where the Empress Lily was), we were able to hear the nightly fireworks. Could be an issue for some.

I htink that it's far enough away from PI to not have the noise be a real factor. I mean, BCV is steps away from Epcot, they do IllumiNations EVERY night, and no one seems to mind that!;)

We are not big golfers. I mean, DH golfs, but it's more of an occasional thing rather than a passion at this point, so my guess is that while I would love to stay there at some point, I probably wouldn't add on.

We have 2 contracts at OKW for a total of 430 points. I think that's about all I am going to get DH to go for . If I could convince him to do more, I would probably either stay with OKW or go to the BWVs or BCVs.

Like Erikthewise, I am also hoping for the Polynesian Villas! Anyone think that that it will ever happen?

In our lifetime, skorpie, in our lifetime. But don't hold your breath. I'm thinking 2012-2015. And start saving now.

I don't think we would purchase any points there although DH did say it would be nice to not have to take a bus back "home". Annmarie
