Hello Maryanne:
This is Linda in Brampton. I certainly hope to be able to attend the Dis meet on July 29, in Niagara Falls. DH doesn't have his July schedule yet, but I will convince him to make sure to book off that weekend. I think it would be a perfect time for a romantic weekend away, wouldn't you agree? We haven't been back to Niagara Falls since our honeymoon in 1972. Boy, does that ever show our ages! Mind you, I was only 11 years old when we got married!!:jester:
I am looking forward to meeting you and the other Dis people. I hope everybody brings lots of pictures.
I will confirm as soon as DH gets the schedule made up.
Linda.

DH and I would love to attend. So far, July 29th sounds good. Maybe some of us could arrive on the 28th, and get together that evening also.
Maryann4086, if it is at all possible, a private room at the RFC would work great. When we had our meet in TO at the RFC, we had to sit at separate tables. Combined with the background noise, it made it a little difficult to speak with everyone. Just an idea. :D

I think Niagara2 mentioned that there was a small private room, we'll have to see how many it holds. Will keep everyone posted.

Hi - I will check out our possibilities....it is a very busy time and the earlier the better to get an area all together. If there is interest I can get a package together for rooms, sightseeing, meal at rainforest etc. (This is what I do for a living!) If it is mostly locals I think a private area with reserved seating would work. I will call in AM and see what is possible! By the way - Sarfari Club works and I was told I was the first person to use it!:jester: If for some reason we cannot get a great spot, we can go next door to a roof top view of the falls and eat a faboulous lunch buffet. I will keep you posted on my finds

Of course, you are more than welcome to attend. Let us know how many, and we'll include your family. We'll keep everyone informed with details as soon as a time is confirmed. The more the merrier, this will be a great Dis meet, with guests from all over. Niagara2, perhaps you and I can correspond by email to try and confirm details. Hope to hear from you soon, Maryann

Hi Taryn, we are going to the Niagara Falls meet, hope you can make it. I really hope everyone who attended the GTA meet in April can make it too!
I think we'll make a weekend out of it since it's the beginning of one of Gary's vacation weeks.
We considered WDW April trip to be our BIG vacation this year so the rest of our vacation will be day trips.
We are off to Wonderland as soon as Evan wakes up from his nap!

06-07-2001, 09:17 PM
Finally made it over to Rainforest tonight. We walked over after work and they are still doing major construction around the outside but the inside is finished and very nice. The staff if still in training mode -- slow but friendly. We ordered appitizer and it came just after our mealwas served. We refused it at that point and they took it off bill. It was quiet tonight but they are opened very low key at this point,
I saw the semi-private area in back. It can fit up to 40 or so people very easily. It is part of the restaurant but far back cornor in a cove like area - it would be perfect for us to enjoy the atmosphere and have an area to talk.
I have a copy of the group menu and for over 15 people can be a good savings. Appietizer, entree (choice of 3), desset with unlimited soft drinks or coffee with taxes of 7 percent and 7 percent GST plus the gratuity included and be done for about $35 Can per person. I tried to figure off menu and it is more than 35 dollars before taxes of 15 percent and the grat. To do a group menu I would have to collect dollars up front, get an exact count, arrive as a group etc. We might be better off to have me make a ressie. I will do the work but need input. Everyone can email me reservationsand credit card numbers etc. Let me know. I will need to put a tenative hold on the space so I need to know an estimate number of people. What time? Maybe arrive 11:30 AM?
The menu is typical rainforest and the Pastalava was very good. The signature dessert is a volcan o - have to try it. The adult prices were better than Orlando but the kids the same and they charge for a rainforst cheap plastic cup. Now they tell me no sarfari club. We will have to try againl.
Looking forward for input on what to do next.

Niagara2, thank you for the time and effort you've taken checking out the new RFC for us. The semi-private area you mention would be great.
When we had our April meet at the RFC at Yorkdale, we had approx. 20 people. We were able to have separate bills, (couples, families, etc.), which worked out well, because some people only wanted a salad and a drink. I checked ahead of time to make sure this would be possible. If we can do that at the Niagara RFC, it might be better price wise, especially for those who don't want a full meal. What do you think?
:D
maryann4086
06-08-2001, 06:05 AM
I agree, many times our family will split a meal etc. and the cost of an arranged meal might be a bit much. However, It would be great if you could go ahead and reserve that area for July 29 at approx 11:00 am. We will try to get the total number of people 10 days or so before the day. We will look into the idea of seperate bills, hopefully, this willnot be a problem. I really appreciate all the extra time you took to help us. Can't wait to meet you. Maryann

I agree that the private area sounds great, and that I would rather order off of the menu. Since I rarely order both an appetiser and an entree, and we usually share a dessert, it makes more sense for us. Thanks for all of your work Niagara2.

I will reserve the back cove area for the DIS meet for July 29th with separate checks....thanks guys, this really is alot easier and takes alot of time and pressure away from me on planning so we can just enjoy the time together! FYI, the construction around the Rainforest is a Conference Centre for the Sheraton Hotels, but will also include a "Disney" style dark ride with a Dinosaur theme. It will have fire, and heat, and bumps, and thrills. It seems to be like the Dinosaur ride in AK at WDW when explained but not sure. It will have a 10-15 dollar CAN admission for one ride!!!. This whole cornor is owned by the same people. The Rainforest, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe, the Hershey Store and science area, Two Sheraton Hotels, the dark ride, shopping, conference centre and they rent their land to Casino Niagara. Yes, they are friends and I laugh and always tell them I knew you when!!! :pinkbounc

Dear Maryann4086, Niagara2, and everyone else:
Please forgive me for not responding sooner. For some reason, all your emails were sent to DH's Market area, and not my email area. Since I have no interest in the markets or any money of my own to invest, I never even thought to look in there. Since Danny is the computer wiz, I have asked him to correct this situation. I have no idea if he will be able to correct this, so, from here on out, I will check this market site, as well as my usuall email site to keep up to date on the Niagara meet etc.
We will be there!!!!!
As I said on some other boards, I am going to try for a romantic weekend getaway.
So you can count on two.
Sorry for the delay in answering all your emails,

Hi all, back from a trip to the world and looking forward to the meet. We can "hold" the back cove area for 32 for five minutes after ressie time. I booked 11:45 am for lunch to beat crowds. We will have separate checks and our group will be at a table of 12 and two tables of 4 pushed together to seat 10 each. Without a set menu they will not treat this as a group so we need to maybe meet outside 15 minutes early and go in together. (I have not a list of names or counted, has anyone?) Clifton Hill will be extremely busy that time of year and parking is at a premium. You can use the Casino parking garage and you will probably be way at the top; and it takes 10 to 15 minutes to manuver there. Me - I park at work, walk across the Rainbow Bridge and in 12 minutes I am in front of Rainforest!! If anyone cannot make it and have signed up please post so we can make the proper ressie. The other activities attached to Rainforest are starting to open. A roller Coaster, a Dinasour dark Ride etc. Looking forward to meeting you all. Keep posting, and let me know what else might be needed.

Thanks Niagara 2, if you go in the thread, I have done a quick count, it looks like we will have about 35 people, if all attend. Do they have an earlier time slot? I suppose we could gather outside starting at 11:15, that way by approx 11:30 most will have arrived and we can start being seated. What name have you used for the "hold", so those running late, can be seated as they arrive? I will try to be outside by 11:15, perhaps we can meet then. This should be fun. For those coming from out of town, please remember that QEW Niagara traffic can be busy on weekends, and as stated it will take awhile for you to find parking and perhaps walk over. Does everyone know where the restaurant is? Please let us know if your're not sure. Anyone else interested in attending, it's not too late, but we will need to know soon. Can't wait to meet you all. The Rainforest Cafe is at the base of Clifton Hill in the spot that Ripley's Wax Museum was for years. It is around the cornor from the Sheraton Foxhead and One block from the Falls. It is also right next to Casino Niagara. I will call my contact Monday to make a earlier ressie - but the secret to getting our seats is to walk in together. I have ate here twice already and the food is normal Rainforest fare and quality, but the service is still being worked on. Very nice servers but the systems and procedures are still be worked on to get the bugs out. I will post the definate time, meeting place and name. Also - maybe we should all wear Disney shirts. I am sure we all have more souvenirs then we care to admit to!! (LOL)!

I went to the NF RFC about a week ago. We sat in the back area and it's big enough to accomodate 35 people. They are still working on the outside and the volcano didn't work. They have balloons for kids but you have to ask for one, they didn't volunteer any. We walked in about 11:30 am and sat down right away, it wasn't busy. They had a parrot and trainer outside and a SHARK in a tank inside COOL!
Looking forward to seeing and meeting DIS folks! Chat soon!
PS. PARKING. We usually park in three different areas
(1) METRE parking on Victoria, but that's only for fast trips.
(2) FREE parking over at the SKYLON, but that's only for long trips when we want to walk. It's a 30 minute walk to Clifton Hill.
(3) PAY parking at the top of Clifton Hill near the Golden Griddle, it's was $7.00 on Friday.

Let's meet outside no later than 11:15am. Alot to do in area so do not b e afraid to go early. The Casino is next door so if you are on a winning streak and late, watch out - the bill will be yours!! (LOL)!!
The ressie is under DIS Boards, Niagara Majestic and each family will have a separate check and order off the menu. I again was warned that it will be busy, so we need to walk in as a group at the right time.
Looking forward to meeting all of you!

I CAN'T COME:( :( :( :( :( :(
DH, just found out he has to work!! I am so used to his being able to take off whatever days he wants to, that I just assumbed he would be able to take off this weekend too. It sucks to be the new addition to the totem pole!!! I keep forgetting that he is in a new job. He never seems to change his hours much, so, it always seems to be the same ole thing.
Needless to say, I am real upset. What can I do? Short of divorcing him? I guess I could leave him, but, after being together for the last, almost 29 years, I would kinda be lost without him! Besides, he makes me laugh.
What can I say, I love him. As much now, as the day I married him. Yeah, I know that sounds rather yucky, and old fashioned, but it's the way it is! He keeps me grounded. He is the other half of my heart. The other half of my heart belongs to Mickey!!!:D
I hope you all have a great time at the meet. Would some one please have a drink for me?
I will spend that morning in this horrible apt., thinking of you you all there having a great time, and wishing I was there with you!! Make sure you take lots of pictures. Post them, or just send them to me. PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

If I meet you in person, does that mean I can "bonk" you in person? :D

Is it too late to join in for Sunday? I would like to attend with my daughter. I didn't reply earlier not knowing if I would be called into work, but it looks like I am now available.:)

Michelle, I think there's space (like I really know) But please join us, I'd love to meet you.
Okay, everyone I'm at the public library at NF right now. If anyone wants to get together at NF tonight (being Saturday), give me a call. I'm at the Michael's Inn (never stay there) room under my name, Katholyn Johnson.
See everyone tomorrow.

WOW! I just finished packing stuff up for tomorrow. Like packing for WDW trips, I am taking way too much stuff! But there will be goodies for EVERYONE! I put together a photo album of WDW trips PLUS more ~ I've included the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights Disney character breakfasts too.
I am apologizing in advance for my noisy kids! LOL!
Looking forward to meeting the folks I've met before and meeting the new folks too!
We'll be leaving Mississauga about 9:30 am and it takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to drive to NF. We'll park in the lot at the top of Clifton Hill and walk over the RFC. We'll be there anywhere between 11 am and 11:30am!
SEE YA'LL TOMORROW! šoš

Sandra, do remember that Niagara bound traffic is very heavy at this time of year. We are to meet at 11:15, so we may go in together at 11:30. If for any reason you are late, remember the reservation is under Dis meet/Niagara Majestic. See you then
