Difference in Cat 8 and Cat 6

It appears that the cat 8 and 6 are the same but for the verandah and the sq ft. My question is: Is the space on the verandah part of the sq. ft. of the room? I hope I didn't confuse anyone with this question.

Cats 5-10 are all the same sq footage- the additional space is the space on the verandah.
