Melanie - I scrolled back a few pages and came up with the following list of DISers wearing the Blue Disney Store dresses/skirts

You
Paulinewdw
LYNR
MJASP
Karel
Me
My sister
Reeniey's sister
and maybe Terry

I didnt count the # of DD's, DS's & DH's but assume most of the ladies will have their families dressing the same

We are down to an unbelievable FOUR weeks till our cruise!!! I can't believe it, after all this time, only a few weeks left! :hyper:

Ginny: I can't wait to sail the Voyager! Last summer we were on the Nordic Empress which is RCI's smallest ship, and next summer we'll be on their largest! (Largest for now, they are supposedly in the process of designing and building an "ultra-voyager" class of ships!" I can't imagine that. LOL)

Melanie: I haven't ordered the tropical dress or shirt for DH yet. We already have a lot of clothes for the cruise, so I'm not sure if I should buy more. LOL

Regarding Wildwood, I think that's an excellent rate for that condo!! That comes out to a little over $137 per night! I don't think you can beat that! :sunny:

Karel

I have the blue shirt. I'd have to take half of the dress off to fit me properly.

No one else in my family has the shirt/dress. I can see the rolling of the eyes now...we're all going to dress the same tonight!

Wildwood - what street is the house on? That seems like a decent price, depending on location.

I was thinking of getting SeaSafe also.

Karel, do you have the light blue top with just the Minnie Mouse embroidered in the center (it co-ordinates with the light blue print items), or did you order the button-down shirt (the men's shirt) for yourself? I actually thought about ordering either one of these for myself, and the matching button-down shirt for DH.

Just curious....Why would you have to take half the dress off to fit you properly? Are you very thin?? Don't answer if this is too personal of a question!

Karel
07-30-2004, 09:28 AM
I bought the men's shirt for myself. Seemed more practical- I'll wear it more and it's great for work.

I'm short and heavy and the dress seems long. It seemed like I would have to take it up a lot so I would be comfortable but I was afraid it wouldn't hang right in other places.

Karel...the condo is on E. 24th Ave listed as one block from the beach. DH used Map Quest on the address and said it looks like a great location.

Ginny... thanks for the list. Looks like a lot of us will be matching that night.

Terry and Karel...I am short and not even close to being near the thin side anymore so I am hoping the dress will fit me! I ordered it last week and am waiting to receive it. If not I will try to alter it a bit and worst case - wear it anyway and ENJOY myself just the same! ::yes:: I am on a Disney cruise and PLAN to just have fun!!!! :) (that's what I am saying now but in the room while dressing I am sure to be in a panic if things look right or not lol )

Yes, my sister has that print too. KAREN. She lurks in here every so often,, but she works and has a life.. so she is not on here 24/7 like me,,lol..
She has the serong and knit top I think.
Melanie: I stopeed WW a few weeks ago when I was in Indiana . I figured I lost 30 lbs, and I can still eat well on my own before the cruise. When I am on theMAGIC I will eat whatever, and go back to WW after we get home..
because we are on VACATION!!!

Melanie:

I just came back from 3rd and JFK which is right on the beach and I paid with tax $1226 for the week in an efficiency. 24th should be right at the boardwalk but the water is a long hike in that area after you hit the sand. Too long for me that is why I choose 3rd Street that beach is short and the ocean is right there. I don't like have to walk a 1/2 mile is the hot sand to get to the water.

I wear a size 18 and bought the XXL and it fits fine. I think it will be funny to see everyone wearing the same dress.

Reenie...congrats on losing 30lbs!!! That is wonderful!!! :thewave: Wish I could have lost weight by the cruise but the diet-rollercoaster hasn't been a real good ride for me! :( Oh well! I do have 4 weeks to try to knock off some punds but will have a great time anyway!!!!! And then DIET when we come home! ::yes::

Lyn...We are looking to go to Wildwood at the beginning of June 2005 and my DH insisted on finding a condo with a pool - this one is heated. Since we live in FL, the water temps at that time might be a tad too cold for our blood! lol But I am sure we will hit the beach and ocean at least half of the time anyway with the kids! I just love walking on the beach there in the evenings with all the lights on the boardwalk!

Ok, you've all helped me to decide to ORDER the dress, and the shirt for DH :D Mexicali night is the same day that we'll be going to the Tulum ruins, and DSs will most likely be doing the teen catamaran excursion and not dining with us that night, so it'll be DH and I dressed alike for the evening :p Is that the night you all are planning on wearing the dresses/shirts?? (Mexicali night, I mean) :sunny:

Rennie: CONGRATS on your weight loss, YOU GO, GIRL!! :cheer2: 30 pounds is not easy to lose!!

Hi Everyone!:wave2: Boy, not able to get on for a few days & I sure had a lot of catching up to do! Terry, hope you're feeling better. Guess what? We got our Docs. today! Think I'm excited? :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: ::yes:: ::yes:: I really needed some good news today. My DH had an accident while at work today & was in the Emergency room for his middle finger (I know, I know, go ahead & laugh)on his right hand. He has to see a hand surgeon on Monday to see what damage was done & what can be done to fix it! So, please send us a little PD, that this doesn't affect our Cruise in anyway. :worried: Luckily, he is left-handed, but he said he almost passed out:faint: when he saw all the blood! So, getting our docs. was the best news we had all day! Now, if we had only been upgraded!(Just kidding!) Hopefully I will finish the rest of my clothes shopping this week-end & than it is on to all the little things. In case I don't get on again, hope everyone has a nice week-end & will catch up with all of you soon! Kathy :wave2:

Just thought I would let all the DisneyStore.com shoppers know that I also ordered the blue tropical dress! I might not have if I knew so many other people were going to. But I guess great minds think alike. And I can't pass up a bargain! I haven't gotten it yet so I don't know if it will fit. If it does I will be wearing. It's tough to be one size in your mind and another in the mirror. Don't even recognize THAT person looking back. LOL

Pattiteach...Sorry to hear of your accident, I hope you are OK, I have heard of the HI Sunspree, but if you want alot of advice and if you want to hear from people that have stayed at a particular hotel you are interested in, go to the Orlando hotels board on this forum. Go to the top of this page and click on "The DIS Discussion Forum" and then look for the Orlando Hotel link. My Favorite place to stay is Vistana Resort, BUT we have stayed at the Hawthorne Suites Universal for I think $89 a night and included a hot breakfast, it was a 1 BR, living room and kitchen.

Are you people that haven't received your docs really coming on our cruise? LOL
Maybe they are giving you the big upgrades.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the magnet Bobby!!!

Hope everyone with injuries & illness are on the road to recovery - PD to you all.

Congrats to all that received docs. We haven't received ours yet (All Seas)

Okay - now be honest - Will I be the only one without the Disney Tropical Dress from our DIS group? - if so I better order one! LOL!

As a surprise to my husband to celebrate our 20th Anniversary, I ordered the stateroom celebration decoration pkg., REAS, and a $1250 shipboard credit. Any ideas if this shipboard credit amount will be enough to cover most things for a family of four (no excursions).

Speaking of excursions, here's what we decided on:

KW - Electric Car for four
GC - Native Way Stingray & Snorkel
Coz - Paradise Beach
CC - Relaxation & a couple of floats.

My family is really getting excited now. Can't wait to see you all at The Radisson on Fri or at the DIS meet on Sat.

Any opinions.

Hi Doreen,

I didn't order anything tropical either although I did order the "dress in a bag" I read about over on the regular cruise board. It came the other day and it looks just like an umbrella. We had a good laugh about that. I'm afraid to open the "bag" for fear I couldn't get the dress back in. It's suppose to be wrinkle-resistant, but really if you could just see the dress/umbrella - I'm thinking there's no way it's not wrinkled! Only time will tell!

Also, by looking at threecirles.net, I see our kids are very similar in age my DD 14, my DD11. So Disney probably wouldn't have my son's shirt size either. Maybe I'll just go over and take a look.

On a happy note... today is my 12 year anniversary... DH and I went out last night for an amazing dinner and a movie that wasnt rated PG... boy wasnt that a treat - LOL

I am starting my packing today.. laying out all the stuff I know we wont need for the next 3 weeks... my guest room looks like a tornado hit it.

We still have not received our documents:mad: (All Seasons).

Yesterday I did a lot of shopping for the cruise.
Strawbridges is having a big sale if anyone is interested. Most of my purchases were 75% off with an additional 20% for using my Strawbridge card.

The sad thing is that I had hoped to shead atleast 30lbs before the cruise and I have not lost any, so the clothes I bought for last years cruise are now too tight. I just have to learn will power!!!

OUCH! I made the same fall on carpeted steps in '93 and fractured my coccyx. Never wear just socks coming down carpeted stairs. That was the beginning of most of the back problems I am suffering with today. Just finished therapy (again) and had a shot into my back. I hope your DH is only bruised and up and around very soon.

I discovered I was unsubbed from this thread! I was wondering why everyone was quiet all the sudden.

Anyway, I am in full battle mode. Most of the dinner clothes are packed, since nobody will be wearing them in the next 23 days. I have to work on shoes tomorrow and I'm getting together my first aid kit. Have to go find water cameras.

Speaking of anniversaries, it occured to me in July on our fifthteenth (is that a word??) that this could be considered a celebration cruise for us.

I'm throwing a yard sale with a friend on Saturday. It's our annual 'raise money for vacation' sale. What ever I earn will go towards gas.

Now only if our documents would arrive....

My Best Worst
Best Offsite:

1. Sheraton Vistana Village - simply beautiful, clean, el-perfecto!

2. Windsor Palms (formerly Wyndham) - outstanding value. Huge apartments, nicely furnished (48" TV). Common areas not as attractive as Vistana but you can't beat the apartments anywhere! They are gorgeous. All at least 2BR or larger. The most spacious accomodations I've found in FL ... bar none. Only 1 mile from WDW.

Worst offsite:

1. Buena Vista Suites - inexpensive and it shows. The hotel is clean, but rundown. Stained carpet, cigarette burns on tables, etc. Lobby and free breakfast usually overcrowded due to large tourist group attendance. Pool area is very small. There's no reason for anybody to stay here. With a little research you can find better for the same cost.

2. Sorry, but here goes...HI Kidsuites. Maybe its just the room we had but for a suite it was tiny. Color pattern was too dark. Wallpaper had some sort of wild birds that didn't have any obvious relation to FL. Room showed wear & tear. The free breakfast was absolutely horrible! I don't know how its legal to feed such tripe to human beings. The place was overcrowded. However, it did have a nice pool for kids.

Good morning, everyone :sunny:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to all of the couples celebrating!! :bride: :groom:

And GET WELL SOON to all of us who aren't quite up to par. No more broken bones, illnesses, falls, etc. We have to be in top shape for our cruise in a few weeks!! :goodvibes

Bobby: The magnets look great!! Thank you so much for making them! ::yes::

Joanna: I've been wondering where Jason's been too! :scratchin

Bobby: Did you watch the Disney World special on the Travel Channel last night? The lady named Erika, from the Murphy Family, is a long-time DISer!! So is the young lady who was there with her 2 girl friends. There's a thread about it over on the Community Board. Erika's younger son is now 3 yrs old, and I can remember her posting about which resort to visit, while she was pregnant with him, over on the Resorts Board. So...being a DIS member can bring us fame :teeth:

I just booked another excursion. I booked the "Personal Watercraft" excursion for the day we're at Castaway Cay, for DH and DS16, at 1pm. The 4 of us are doing the Banana Boat excursion at 11am that day, but I think there'll be time to eat lunch between them.

I still haven't booked the Teen Fury Catamaran excursion for DSs. I'll have to check with them to see if they still are interested in this one (they won't be home till next week). Anyone else's teens going to do this one??

Hello everyone! :)

Happy anniversary to all celebrating! We will be celebrating 7 years in Key West on the cruise!!!!!! :hyper:

Congrats to those doing the doc dance!! :Pinkbounc

Haven't seen a post from Jason or Travis in a while....maybe they are in WDW for a mini-vacation before the cruise???? :)

Terry...glad to hear you decided to book the waverunners. DH and I are looking forward to it. Hope the hubby is doing better!

Bobby...Magnets look so awesome! We are all so lucky you are so creative! :) Sorry to hear about your printer but just think - you will be able to save money on the alcohol bill on the ship after we all buy you drinks to pay for the new printer!!!!

Everyone have a great day and will "talk" to you all again later!

Has anybody else started measuring time in "vacation time"... for example... Saturday about 11:30 my husband looked at me and said, "exactly one month from today we'll be in line to board the ship" or... yesterday I looked at him and said, "hmm, you know, a month from today, we'll be shopping at KINO sandals and sweating our butts off in Key West."

Happy Monday everybody!!!

Hi Lyn:
The Personal Watercraft excursion is basically a waverunner excursion with a guided tour of part of the island, and they explain the eco-system of the island. You can rent a single rider waverunner, or a 2-person waverunner. It's an hour long, and costs $95 for a single rider, and $160 for the double.

Happy Cruisin' Month......

Congratulations to all those Happy couples celebrating an Anniversary this MONTH.

Get WELL wishes to all those that have injuries this month!

Thank you so much for the magnets!

Question: When and where is the DIS meet on Saturday? I must
have missed this critical piece of information.

Another Question: We have decided not to book any excursions....will we feel like we missed out???

Thank you

Pauline--

Check out the front page of the August 28th Cruise list for all of the meet info. <a href=http://**********************>*****************</a>.

And I don't think you'll feel like you missed out on the whole excursion thing. During past cruises I've elected to do and not to do excursions and have enjoyed both experiences. There is always a lot to do at each of the ports even if you elect to forgo the organized excursions that are offered. Shopping, dining, beaches, etc., etc., etc.

We have not booked any excursions either. To be honest, we don't enjoy water stuff and walking around in the heat doesn't thrill me either. We are looking foward to relaxing on the ship, sleeping, eating, seeing the shows, the movies, the special stuff they have going on all through the day.

Three weeks from now I will be in the OKWest. 4 weeks we'll just be finishing our early dinner getting ready to see the show. :D

BOBBY: The magnets look great! You are such a sweetie to make them for us. Did you put the DIS name on all of them? Did your printer really break down? Oh my gosh! Not to mention all the printer ink you went through. I owe you big time. You and Cindy name your poison. We'll be at the Radisson, maybe I can start your pre-cruise celebration off to a good start.

Samsara...Are you cruising with us? If so give me the details and I'll put you on page 1.

Early dining is kind of rush, rush to get there, But I can't over eat (like I plan on doing LOL) between 8:30-10:00 at night.

I haven't booked any excursions yet either. The 2 we plan on doing I feel we can do on our own if we get shut out.

Did everyone get their docs yet?

No DISers received any upgrades YET. I'm still waiting to hear.

We enjoy early seating. Granted we don't do an excursions, so I guess we don't worry about rushing, but we're early eaters at home. Dinner is usually @4:30 if I'm home from work. We like relaxing after dinner and seeing the shows. To be honest, if we had to see the shows first, I doubt we'd see them.

I called All Seasons this morning - nothing yet.

I told them we were leaving several days early to Fl and she said call back on the 13th.

I am not happy.

But they have to let us on, right?? I hope they send them two day priority or something.

And I now understand why Nativeway water sports has such a great Stingray deal - we have to meet them at 7:45am. I'm not sure that's going to happen. I don't think I'll get everyone up by then.

CALL BACK on the 13th??? What for?? I really was hoping to have them sooner than that!! :( :( As for the method of delivery, the person I spoke to said they'd come US Postal Service, but in one of those large flat mailing envelopes, he didn't mention second day air or anything.

Reenie, thanks so much for mentioning this! When I saw this post I called Delta, and sure enough our airfare has come down another $20., so now we each have $75 in vouchers that we can use for future airfare. I wish they just gave cash refunds but I guess a voucher is better than nothing. Now we'll have to plan a trip to somewhere that we'd have to fly to... Hmm...maybe Disney World next year? :teeth:

I called All Seasons this morning to ask if I needed any documentation for traveling with my sons outside of the U.S., since their last name is different than mine. (I don't).

While I had Sandy on the phone I asked her about the documents. As soon as I told her the sail date she said that they already have a call into Disney regarding the documents. I hope they get them soon! She said that often times Disney takes longer to send out the "group" documents than for individual reservations. Oh well. I'm sure we'll have them before we cruise, but it'd be nice (and fun!) to have them now!!

Karel

Terry - I saw on the main cruise board that you asked about leaving early in the am for an excusion. I have the same dilemma. My son 'says' he'll be up early -

This is the first time we've looked at an organized excursion. We can get a later time that ends at 2:15. Of course, I'll be worried that we won't make it back in time for sailing.

Can anyone explain tendering into Grand Caymen for me? Native way wants us to check in between 7:45 and 8:45.

Thanks.

winnyis
08-03-2004, 10:23 AM
Karel... in Grand Cayman all ships tender since there are no deep water docks for the ships to dock at. Basically.. they dock probably 1/2 mile or so off shore and then have little shuttle type boats take passengers to and from the shore. If you are on a disney sponsored excursion they will tell you where to meet and will give you a priority time to board a tender... after a certain time they open it up to all passengers.

You catch the tender boats from deck 1... its a pretty fast process and they usually have several boats going to and from so the wait isnt that long.

It sounds like a great idea NOW, but I'm wondering if ALL of us won't feel like getting up so early, especially knowing that we'll probably be up late the night before. I don't think that snorkeling while half asleep will be any fun. LOL

My DSs will be back home next week, then I'm going to call a Family Cruise Meeting, to go over our plans one more time, and to see if I should schedule the later excursion even though it doesn't include the snorkeling time  Maybe I'll look through the Grand Cayman excursions all over again and see what starts later. lol

We booked our Grand Cayman shore excursions through Disney. We're doing the 7:20 Island Tour and Stingray City, and the 1:15 Atlantis Submarine. The DCL rep I booked with said the 7:20 time is when we were supposed to meet at the designated place on the ship. Shore excursion ticket holders are given first tender. If you didn't book through Disney, then I'm not sure how they handle it.

Wow Bobby, That's alot of magnets!LOL! I really can't wait for this trip. It looks like your bar tab is covered for the week. I counted 22 magnets..thats 3 :drinking1 a day. Not bad! I hope you plan on sharing with Cindy.:rolleyes1. FYI, my DH had his surgery today to repair his finger & is out like a light right now. You know how anasethesia knocks you out, but everything seems to have gone well & his finger should be up & working in no time. (Just kidding!) I'm glad we're getting all our ailments out of the way now...my DD has a very bad ear infection & I have poison ivy that got infected. None of you want to be anywhere near us, I think we are contagious. LOL! Everyone on our block seems to be having something or other. I'm glad that your DH's finger will be ok! :) Hopefully it won't be too painful after the anaesthesia wears off. I had my follow-up appt with the doctor today. He told me that it can take 4-6 weeks to feel better from pluerisy. Well that explains why I still don't feel 100% better yet! But at least I'm feeling a lot better than I was. He told me to take it easy for another week or so.

Kathy we are mending our ways as well. Son woke this AM with bilateral otis media... meds are helping(somewhat). daughter,, well, I am sure she will get something. Hubbie has to see an IME this week.. CRUISE TAKE US AWAY...

Ok :hyper: question of the ladies... How fancy are you getting dressed up for the formal nights. I have a long gown to wear.. On the last cruise Marty and I took, so many were in tuxes and gowns,,, Well we felt ok in our dress and sport coat,, but I was needed advice from my DIS FAMILY  I found a white dinner jacket for my son and he has the pants already.... so now to get hubbie in fancier duds.
EXCURSIONS We did one excursion to snorkel since my sister and son never did that. In Cozumel we will just enjoy the beach and of course shopping. We have to get up early on Tuesday for the snorkling,, but that way we are not in the sun at high noon..Save that for later in the week,,lol

We will be with the formal group. DH has a tux and the boys will either be in formal suits or tuxes also.

I know a lot of people make a fuss about having to get dressed up, but we really enjoy it. Listen 30 years ago, on a cruise, you dressed 3 times a day. Trust me, that was a hassel. Just getting dressed for dinner is enjoyable.

winnyis
08-03-2004, 10:06 PM
Doreen.. for formal night my DH and son are both wearing a dark suit... I will wear a long black skirt and beaded top... not sure about DD yet.. You will see a mixture of tuxes/suits/sport jackets and gowns/cocktail dresses etc.... I never felt out of place with what I wore.

Hope that helps!

Wanna hear something funny.. I go to the orthapedic dr today for a follow-up on my toe... well the xrays looks like its not even healing to me but he swears he sees calcification starting and tells me to take it easy for the next few weeks... I proceed to tell him im going to Disney/Universal/Seaworld/Cruise in 2-1/2 weeks and he tells me to try to take lots of breaks and rest during the day and ice my foot several times a day.... He obviously has no kids or he would know that is just not gonna happen at Disneyworld... I can see my son now....Oh honey you cant go on Space Mountain cause mommy has to ice her toe... that would surely bring on a major hissy fit...

Uh Oh! A speedo post. My best friend is having a canary over her DH's choice of bathing suits. Yep, you guessed it, a speedo. Kathy - dont worry we will be kind to your best friend and her DH.
Heres a thought - maybe if we get your best friend drunk she wont care that he is wearing his speedo and if we all get drunk we wont either. Although that could backfire and we could get drunk and silly and start laughing uncontrollably and that probably wouldnt be a good scene, especially if we were with your DH with his middle finger sticking up.LOL

OMG so much to answer.

First where is JASON and TRAVIS???? That isn't like them not to post, I didn't send them an e mail as I feel if they were on the computer, they would at least answer us to where they are.

Sea Safe or vice versa, I'm pretty sure ScottH has put a whole thread about the stuff at the top of the cruise forums page.

OH NO a Speedo wearer among us LOL My DD12 and her friend also 12 get a kick out of speedos, you know that preteen stuff.

I keep my medicine cabinet in a large overnight bag in large clear freezer bags (in case of leaks) in a hall closet. Everything I own is in there. Have meds will travel. I had Bobbie pins on our last cruise, and no one in my family wears them LOL
But my friend wanted Bobbie pins and wah lah.

I am afraid to even mention about my vacation last August and how awful it was with injuries and deaths, so as you can see I am keeping a low profile here on the injury topic.

I can't wait to meet you all, some of the things you all say crack me up, too bad it is only a 15 minute meet after the life boat drill.

Bobby...How are you hanging in there with your company?

Talk to you all later

I am bringing bug spray. Last year on Castaway Cay I was all bit up by bugs on the beach and I itched for two weeks after the cruise.

I didn't feel anything biting me on the beach but I started to itch when we got back on the boat. The marks didn't show up until I got home so I wasn't sure they were from the cruise until other cruisers started posting complaints about the bites. My doctor said they lasted so long because of my allergies.

This year I am not taking any chances!

P.S. I did not go in the water so they came from the sand.

I am sorry, I just can't hold myself back..lol Joanna: I am sure we can knock on any of the lime green doors on the cruise and find a remedy for what AILS us at the time.
Ginny: as I am sitting here I am laughing uncontrollably.I am telling my kids, well Ginny said this, Kathy said that Jonanna and so on. Daughter asked, and who is "insert DIS name here ".I said you will meet them..lol

In 2002 when we cruised on the Western Inaugural, someone on our thread had T-Shirts made up for the Inaugural sailing, I wouldn't purchase them, didn't want anyone to know my address etc, lets face it we don't know who we are talking to. When we got to the Radisson my DD then 10 said to me see mom, look at all the nice people here and you were calling them strangers. So you are right about making friends in 15 minutes.

I better make sure I get my Medicine in order for this trip. Especially if this week is any indication of how my vacation is going to be! All I know is I'll be trying all those specialty drinks with the Kahlua in them! So everyone beware! Especially if I have to be seen with someone in a Speedo! Jason & Travis: Glad to know everything is okay, now, don't ever go scaring us like that again! You know how uncaring us Dis'ers are! I am planning on seeing ever single movie on board. We never go to the movies at home so DH and I have planned a movie schedule the way some of you have planned excursions. :teeth:

I'm taking this Friday off to start to get everything together. My hours at work have been off the wall and I'm finding that I crash on Saturday's and then run like a made person on Sunday to try and just get the ususal stuff done. So I figure if I add one more day to my week-end, I might actually get my cruse stuff started.

Hi All!

My family (minus me - the chicken) plans on seeing The Village on board. They're very excited about it. I think I remember seeing somewhere that Princess Diaries 2 is a Disney film and it should probably be playing too - now that movie I'd like.

BTW - Still no docs here :o

Hi guys! Just thought I'd pop in and say "hello." I just saw Jason's countdown on here and I can't believe it is so close. I can't wait to leave work on Friday, August 27th and get the heck out of here! I'm ready to be on deck 10 sipping on a cocktail or two, (heck three or four!) ;) Just kidding. Anyway, hope everyone is doing well and is ready to go. I don't know why I just realized today that it is so close. I hope we're ready!?!? Talk to you all soon.

Good Morning!!!!

Jason and Travis....Now I agree with all the other wonderful "moms" on here - SHAME for making us worry like that!!!! Happy to know you guys are okay and with us again!

As far as seeing the Village goes...now I have to find a way to talk DH into seeing it on the ship with me instead of going sooner but the whole FREE thing should sell him!!! We both love movies like that (books too) so we are defintiely in on seeing it onboard - do I sense a possible DIS meet #3 (or is it #4???) ??????

Speedo Men.... I am soooo hoping not to be too tipsy when the Speedo Men cross my path because I am an uncontrollable giggly drunk  and will laugh so APOLOGIES ahead of time!!!!

I will also have a small travel medicine cabinet with us - the mother in all of us to be prepared for anything! So you are more than welcome to knock if you need something.....

Mary Anne.... we hardly get to see movies over a PG rating until they are on DVD so we are looking forward to the more adult features onboard and will probably see you in the theater often!!! :3dglasses

I bought the Safe Sea online and it was $9.95 plus S+H so that was a good deal I guess! I will also have bug spray and ponchos (the fabulous BRIGHT yellow Mickey ones from the park - they should have alien green ones!!!!!!) So I think we will be prepared. My DH keeps reminding me that it is just us so my normal packing list of OVERPACK everything and anything the kids might need shouldn't apply...but I can't help myself on the need to prepare for anything and everything!!!!

Well off for the day...Back to School Open House tonight for the boys to meet their teachers :teacher: That should be fun!!! Then school on Monday and then I can really concentrate on CRUISE stuff with only one little one to tote around with me in and out of stores.

Have a great day everyone! :flower:

Hi everyone :wave2:

Regarding the movie "The Village", I initially had NO desire to see this movie (I thought the subject matter was about one thing that I choose to stay away from, but I found out that I was wrong) and I just read a lot about it on www.screenit.com and I also read the "spoiler" thread about it on the Community Board. I don't want to give anything away about this movie, but I have to say that now I will probably see it (for free. lol) on the ship, now that I know exactly what it's about.

I see that it's rated PG-13, so I think DS16 will want to see it too. DS13 doesn't especially care for tense/scarey movies, so I doubt he'll see it. DH will want to see it. So...if there is going to a mini-movie-DIS meet, let us know! :) I wonder what other movies will be playing that week on board. Not that I want to spend a lot of time in a movie theater, but like Mary Anne said, DH and I don't go to a lot of movies together while at home, so it would be fun to catch one or two while at sea :3dglasses

Good Morning All!

I ordered Sea Safe SPF 30 this morning at drugstore.com and while I was at it I ordered the Electronic Relief Bands. I get really seasick and I hope this works for me. I'll be bring Bonine just in case though. Anyway, the price of Sea Safe there is $9.45 +s/h. Shipping is free for orders of $49 and also if your a new customer there is a $10 off coupon. The relief bands were $69.99 so it's like the Sea Safe was free (well kinda!).

Has anyone ever used Sea Safe? I thought I remembered reading it is very thick and hard to apply.

THE VILLAGE.....

Please please please DON'T try to find out too much about this movie or read spoilers or let anyone tell you anything! We saw it this week and it knocked our socks off with the plot twists, etc. It's well written and we loved the characters -- especially Ron Howard's daughter who plays the blind girl Ivy. But you really should try not to find out too much about it because it will ruin the surprises.

IMHO -- I wouldn't miss it!

NOW, BACK TO SAFE SEA -- what IS the "time of year" for sea lice? Can someone tell me?

Sea Lice

I found this info from another thread:

These critters are usually found in the wider Caribbean area from March to August. The greatest chance of exposure is from April to June. I have been told that there is a pattern from South to North as the waters warm. Personally I have seen them heavy in the Bahamian out islands in May.

Here is the whole thread:

That would be cool to have a pirate night. They did that on the Navigator of the Seas cruise we went on in November. They had all the kids made up like pirates with hats, swords, eye patches, etc.. and they all stormed the dining room during late seating and did a little skit... It was adorable.

The Western is not having any changes to theme nights, only to one of the menus. However, I don't know for which restaurant.

I know, in reality, it's a small small thing to worry about, but I'll feel much better when they are here.

I'm going back to NJ this weekend to pick up DSs and will stay and visit again for a couple of days. At least I know they're on their way! :)

Karel: I don't remember seeing anything on our credit card for "agent's fee" at all. Maybe you should call them and ask about it. Do those fees bring the total cost of your trip higher than what was initially quoted to you??

Well, I guess we are on the other end of the spectrum because we, and several of our friends, loved The Village. We thought it was thought provoking, intriguing, great acting and great plot twists!

Oh, well, I would still suggest seeing it and making your own opinion. If you liked all his previous movies (Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable), then I cannot imagine you wouldn't like this one. If you didn't like any of his previous movies, then I would say skip this one too.

Joanna - I booked through All Seas Travel and thanks to the other great DISers I hope the Docs are on the way.

Pattiteach - Thanks for calling All Seas and thank for the update!

Karel - I also booked thru All Seas and don't remember seeing a agent's fee. Did they charge you card when you paid in full? I know my final balance was 2997.00 and they had to put through 2 charges - one for $2500 and one for $497. Then I called back and added REAS and they charged my card $299 then, but maybe I better go back and check my statements. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks,

Kathy--

I think a whole group of us are planning on getting together for the 60's (Beatles) Night in Rockin' Bar D. (Check <a href=http://**********************>*****************</a> for all the info.)

Some of us talked about going all out and dressing up for the occasion and I plan on doing so! I'm either going to make or buy a Ty-dye shirt and have my mom make an old pair of my Fossil jeans into flares. A Peace necklace to top it off and perhaps some stylish shoes if I can find any at Goodwill! :teeth: (I'm still trying to figure out what kind of shoes men wore during that period.)

Travis had talked about buying one of those hugh haloween afro wigs but we'll see...

3 weeks!!! THREE WEEKS! We're really close now! :hyper: :sunny: ::yes:: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Does anyone know which night the 60's Beatles show is?? I've heard both Monday and Friday nights. Does it alternate?? I don't want to miss that show!

I haven't thought about dressing for the theme nights, other than the Mexicali night. I could borrow one of DSs tie-dyed shirts....but not sure if I should. Anyone else dressing up for 60's night??

REMINDERS: These are a few things that I think we should have at this point, please add to the list if you think of something else:

*Documents -except for us All Seas people who don't have them yet :(

*Passports OR birth certificates with a raised deal AND state-issued ID such as a driver's license.

*Letter from your doctor if you are traveling with health-related equipment that could be questioned by security, and/or if you need special consideration from DCL such as a fridge, or anything else you'd need them to supply for you onboard.

*Letter for the airline (if you are flying) if you will be traveling with anything that security could question. For example, we travel with DHs diabetes supplies which include syringes (needles) and we have to carry them on, so the doctor's letter is a necessity.

*Renew any prescriptions you need, make sure you have a refill available on your prescription.

Ok friends...anything else that you can think of that any of us might need but that might take a few days to acquire? We don't want to realize that we NEED something at the last minute and not be able to get it quickly, you know??
Hope this is helpful :)

Don't forget.....

Make sure your eyeglass prescriptions are up-to-date and your eyeglasses are in good shape. My DH's glasses fell apart on our last cruise because the screws were stripped and he almost lost one of the lenses in the ocean!

And sunglasses!!!!

Also, here's a tip for those flying: I print out two sets of all our airline info -- itinerary, receipt, boarding passes, etc. and I put one set in an envelope that says Phil to Orlando and one in an envelope that says Orlando to Phil. That way, if I lose a set, I always have a back-up. And I pack the two envelopes in separate carry-ons.

Also, make copies of ALL of your ID (birth certs, passports, ID's), your charge cards and phone cards. Keep the copies in a separate carry-on from the originals, together with the receipts for your Traveler's Checks. That way, if you lose any original documents, you will at least have the copies.

At least DH isn't in as much pain as he was earlier in the week. And as if I didn't have enough to do, now I'm looking into possibly taking a Limo from the airport to the port. Right now we have a 12 passenger van rented, but I was thinking a Limo might be more fun. The only problem is all the luggage!LOL! Seems you can get a limo for 8 people but not for 8 pieces (or more)of luggage!:earseek: I figured a Limo would be a great way to start our vacation. Especially since we have all been having such a bad time of it lately. My best friends mom is in Rehab after surgery for broken arm & her FIL who is 92 just came home from hospital & not doing well. Soooo you might all do well to stay clear of us...I'm starting to feel like the man with the little black cloud overhead! Do we know how many adults are in our DIS group for the 8/28 Cruise. natdencro: I really am hoping that we get Gemma as our server when we go to Palo!! Does she always work in Palo, or is there a chance she could be working in the dining room?? Is there anything special that I can bring for her, in the way of a gift?? Are they any foods that she likes that she finds hard to find while on the ship?? I'd love to be able to surprise her with something. Let me know :)

Have a great weekend, everyone!! :sunny:

That is SO kind of you Seaspray: you guys are so very sweet to think of Gemma. In fact, your cruise is her last before her vacation, so she will be VERY excited! Also, her best girlfriend is cruising that week too! Yes, Gem IS in Palo's - and LOVES IT! DO book up and go if you can - she will be happy to meet you all. Many of her best pals are Servers in the main dining rooms, so Im sure you will be well looked after. Just have fun folks.............it will be MAGICAL. Best wishes. Nat:Pinkbounc

Not enough hours in the day! AND I'M ADDICTED TO THIS THREAD! How am I ever going to get anything done when you guys keep posting here???? Doreen: I hope you have nice weather for your family reunion...otherwise is everyone going to your house? Kind of like a mini Dis meet? Just kidding! Oh, & yes, it seems we have gotten a reprieve right now from that little black cloud. Everyone keep their fingers crossed for us! I am really going to need those Birthday drinks. Terry: I hope you're feeling better also! Hope the weather is a little nicer for your trip back to the shore! Joanna: I don't have a good picture to post of myself and/or of family, so I understand! I'll be the one rolling my eyes when I have to be with Speedo man! My head hurts already just thinking about it! ::yes:: Well, DH & I have a Wedding today, so I won't be back till tomorrow! natdencro...Tell Maria and Si to come on the boards and have some fun with us. Are they staying at the Radisson pre-night?

Doreen... Drinks hmmmm. I just told DH I have to go the liquor store and buy some Tequila and the big bucket to make some frozen Margarita's. Bad thing is they won't be ready until tomorrow.

MaryAnne...We like our coffee also and I was relived last time we cruised that DCL's coffee was good.

I think cruising after summer was good as we didn't want to rush summer, so as much as we all want to cruise, we want to prolong summer.

Kathy...After the wedding when you get home to your computer to check who responded to our thread, write and say hi, because you see, you will be checking your emails if you are near a computer, wedding or no wedding LOL

Have a great night

I am so excited that you recieved your documents!!! Boy, i STARTED reading this thread when planning my familys first trip ever, now from you guys, I have booked a trip to WDW next year and plan to sail the same time in August 2006!! THESE BOARDS ARE ADDICTIVE!!!! Last tonight I went out with my DH and I was very tried and we left at 10;30, but before I went to the bed I had to check the boards. Is this a sickness???lol:tongue:

SeaSpray: If you already have booked Palo's for Brunch, dinner and tea (hopefully NOT ALL ON THE SAME DAY!!!) your tables may already be allocated. However, if you call at Palo's early on during your cruise, they may be able to arrange for Gem to serve you. I hope so, that would be great. She LOVES Palos, and the fact it gives you the opportunity to chat to guests more than in the dining room - where life is more hectic for the Servers. Fingers crossed for you my friend.

Mjasp: will be seeing Maria before the cruise to give her lots of "hints", so will show her the Disboard list. Will tell her about all you great people. She is Gemma's best pal from UK, so they hope to have a bit of time together on Port days. They are also booked in for several Palo visits!

Have a great time folks. Nat:Pinkbounc

Received our documents today from All Seas!!!!

Also, by Priority Mail like Lyn

There is a problem with our last name though. Our last name: O'Brien. Last name on docs: Obrien

I call both All Seas & DCL and they said it's okay, DCL's system can't insert characters like an apostrophe. Well okay, that happens to us all the time but I just hope the small "b" will be okay. They both say yes, we'll see. Darn, I hate that apostrophe!

If you see a NJ family distraught & crying in the terminal you'll know it's us :o

We were in the Emergency Room yesterday! DD had an earache. Decided not to wait until she was screaming in the middle of the night. And definately wanted whatever was ailing her cleared up QUICK. Thank goodness she has seen some relief already.

I started putting stuff in a suitcase last night. I'll add as I go along. The night before we leave I'll lay it all out on my bed and neatly pack it to make sure I have everything. Wondering how to pack my formal stuff. DH is renting his tux from DCL, so no worry there. My garment bag has a broken handle (boo hoo). If I neatly pack DD's and my dresses in a suitcase maybe I can have them steamed when we get onboard. What do you think?

Well it's offical the cruise of the 8/28 cruisers has hit me.

I went to the Dentist this morning to start a root canal and now they've found I have an absess around the root of another tooth.

Hopefully I will be able to get this resolved before the cruise. It is a wisdom tooth so I don't know if I should have it pulled now or wait until we return from the cruise. The surgeon can't see me right away so the first appointment would be only 3 days before the cruise. What should I do?

Oh no, Lyn, you poor thing!! Did the dentist give you a prescription for an antibiotic for the abcess? You'll need to get rid of the infection whether you have it pulled or not. If the infection and pain go away after taking the antibiotic, I'd suggest to wait until after the cruise because you said you can't see the oral surgeon until 3 days before the cruise. If you said he could PULL the tooth 3 days before the cruise, then I'd tell you to go for it! I've had wisdom teeth pulled and was fine within a couple of days (but they hadn't been abcessed, so then again...). Tell your dentist that you have a cruise in 2 weeks and see what he suggests!!

I hope it all works out! You definitely don't want to be in pain during the cruise!! *hugs*

Bobby - Congratulations to you and your family. There's just nothing like a new baby! Glad to hear to both doing well.

Lyn - I really don't have much advice but I can relate a story about my daughter. My daughter (then 12) needed to have 5 teeth pulled to get her braces. One baby tooth and four second molars. We had an appt. with the Oral Surgeon for a consult three days before he Confirmation/13th Birthday bash. Well at the consult he said he had an opening and that he could pull all the teeth right there and then. I mentioned the impending events and he said she'd be fine in three days. We went ahead and the Dr. was right. She wasn't swollen and she said she was only experiencing some slight discomfort. by the three day mark. Now granted, there wasn't an absess but heck it was 5 teeth. My daughter's a better woman then I! I do hope you feel better soon and good luck!

Thank you all for the wishes....the baby is gorgeous! I got to see him 1/2 an hour after the birth, Mom and baby had a very easy time and both are doing great!

Lyn, my advice is to pull the teeth!!!!! I can't take "good drugs, ie pain killers, etc."
they make me too sick, so when I've had teeth pulled I've only followed up with tylenol and have been fine within a day or two. Just make sure you have a great oral surgeon, I think that makes all of the difference.

Thanks again everyone,
Cindy

Oh Gee Lyn, teeth, arghhh

My DD12 had 2 wisdom teeth and 2 upper teeth pulled also for braces, she had it done about 3-4 weeks ago. Maybe because it was her wisdom teeth, but she was swollen from Friday-Tuesday, like golf balls. Then when we got home a bee flew in her mouth and stung her tongue, all of a sudden I see her spitting and I think the blood is getting the best of her and then I see a bee flying out of her mouth, Not funny but it was. Glad she wasn't allergic to bees. Her mouth wasn't even open wide just the front and that is where it stung her the tip of her tongue LOL

First of all, your poor DD, Joanna!!! *OUCH* I can't imagine getting stung on the tongue!! :( :(

Also, I agree with you about wisdom teeth taking MUCH longer to recouperate from. And like you said, you often/usually will get swelling and sometimes need stitches when you have wisdom teeth pulled. My DS13 had 4 teeth pulled last summer for braces, they were NOT wisdom teeth, and he was fine and eating that very afternoon. Not so with wisdom teeth, you just don't know if you'll swell or have a lot of pain afterwards.

Does anyone have kids aged 10, 7,(boys) and 4 (girl) crusining? I am really worried that they will not go with the clubs because they are in 3 different groups and they are shy at first. My husband John , really does want to do some things by ourselves, But I am really nervous about them not liking going with the groups. The older one, Eric, might, the other two no, unless they had a friend. I don't know if there is a family in the same boat as mine , and maybe would get together so that they could meet??? Help!!! It is our vacation to right?!!!!!

Patti.. I have a 6 year old DD who would be in the same kids club group as your son (5-7) and a 4 year old niece.

Are you guys staying at the radisson the night before... if so we can introduce them at the pool.

Lyn.. I would also say go ahead and have the dental work done before the cruise... I had an absess once and it was horrible. I would think within a few days you would be ok.

I have a DS who is 8. His name is John and gets along with everyone of all ages. Let me know if they want to talk on the computer. I will type for him. I am usually on in the evenings. School has already started here so he's not home during the day. Hope they can get together I think that would be great!!!

Thanks for all the advice and good wishes.

I think tomorrow I am going to call another surgeon and see if they could fit me in. The dentist said I didn't need antibiotics but I want to see what the surgeon says about that. I have always heard you need the antibiotics before they pull the tooth.

Bobby congratulations on becoming an uncle. My girlfriend was over tonight with my god daughter, babies are so great, enjoy.

Hi Everyone!:wave2: First....Bobby & Cindy....Congratulations! Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Second...Lyn: I'm sorry that little black cloud has found its way to you! I personally would probably want the tooth pulled before the cruise, because I'd be too afraid it would act up while I was on the Cruise, & a toothache is the one thing that will knock me on my rear! Third...Pattiteach: My DS & my girlfriends DS are both 9. My son is also shy & I'm worried about him enjoying the club also. DD who is 10 is very outgoing & so I know she will be fine! Fourth...are any of us 1st time Cruisers? I just found out I could get a credit of $50 for being a first time cruiser!:bounce: :bounce: I contacted DU & Tammy got all 3 cabins $50 each...for a total of $150! Woo Hoo! I'm not even going to tell the others about the credit until we are onboard! That way they will have a little surprise!::yes:: :smooth: So if any of you are 1st time cruisers ask your TA about the onboard credit! After all, every little bit helps! Especially if we all have to keep Bobby in drinks!LOL!:drinking1 . Well, I think that's it for now! Have a great night everyone & STAY WELL! Kathy :wave2:

I was having a hard time seeing my son and hubbie in a shirt and tie and not a tux. Well doing some research :scratchin .. our local TUX store had a cruise special for 10 days to rent a tux for $79 plus tax.. thats cheaper than for a wedding. Than I looked at the DCL formal rentals. still $$$ :faint: . I did some ebay searches and found a brand new light wool/poly blend for less all that... I can't believe my husband has a brand new TUX.puckerup: I guess we will have to play dress up more often.
My son wanted a white Dinner jacket and he already had the black pants to match... He looks so cute. Now I better hope my gowns fit,,lol

Happy Belated birthday Mary Anne.:bday:

Lynn, get that tooth taken care of. There is nothing like tooth pain to make you miserable. Hope another surgeon can see you sooner and get you painfree.

Kathy...way to go :cheer2: with the onboard credit!

FYI -- MENU AND THEME NIGHT CHANGES......

Okay -- I just got off the phone with a DCL rep who was very informative about this subject.

She said yes, the Mexicali.... theme night HAS been replaced by the Pirate theme deck party. This will occur on Cozumel night. The menus for that night will reflect the pirate theme. When I expressed disappointment that they chose that night to change a theme instead of the Around the World or Chef Series nights, which are included on BOTH Eastern and Western, she said that has been the complaint she is hearing. People who have never sailed on the Western cruise won't get to experience the Mexican themed night now and she said some have expressed their dismay. Someone even told her that the pirate theme would be more in line for the Eastern Caribbean rather than Western.

I don't care -- it should be fun to see our servers running around as pirates!

Anyway, she also said all of the rotation menus have been tweaked and slight changes to each one has occurred.

Thanks for all of the info Invaderzim!!! Much appreciated! I'm curious though, the reports coming from the Magic this week indicated that they were having the Pirate theme on the Eastern as well.

On Magic Now..Heading to PR tomorrow!

Hey all,

Just a quick note from a cyber store in St. Thomas. The Magic is as awesome as usual!!

Last night we saw the new shoe in Rockin Bar D...it was a music trivia game. Was okay, needed more people in the audience.

Tonight is the new Pirates of the Caribean deck party. Looks like it's gonna be cool...we saw the cruise director practicing early yesterday morning. Sounds like it may be a new menu tonight but not sure yet.

The thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=622715

From this post and your info it seems that the new pirate theme is on both the Eastern and Western.

Hi everyone! :wave2:

CONGRATS Bobby and Cindy on being a new aunt and uncle!!!!

:bday: Maryanne!

Lyn...sorry to hear that the little sickness/accident curse on our group found its way to you. Good luck!

Invaderzim...thanks for the info!

So this will no longer be Tropical night??? Or is my Tropical Disney Dress still fitting attire????? So is this Pirates of the Carribean night now????

Kathy...question about the $50 credit for 1st time cruisers - we booked thru DCL so I am unsure if it applies to us but it is our first cruise, so is there a booking code or something or do I just call and ask about it??

You guys are all just so full of info!!! THANKS

Melanie

I think the Mexicali/Tropicali attire will still work. This is so new that it's going to take some time before word spreads about the change.

Plus, what the heck do pirates wear anyway???

I have another incident of the black cloud to report. Today I went to take out the trash at work and I was bit by two bees on the back of my hand. Needless to say my hand immediately swolled up and I couldn't get my rings off. I finally ran and got kitchen soap and managed to get them off but my hand is killing me. I am allergic so it required a trip to the doctors and a shot.

Oh yeah the new oral surgeon could not see me until after the cruise but prescribed pain killers just in case and antibiotics. He was very nice and sympathetic. He said the antibotics should take care of any chance of pain because it will get rid of the absess, but he didn't want to take any chances so he gave me a prescription for pain meds also.

Hopefully this will be the last problem for everyone before the cruise.

Carolyn and Nuts4snoopy, I would love to introduce our kids. I will not be at the Radission the night before. Maybe, we can all meet on board at some activity and see how they are? I am really getting nervous about the weather.......

Hi all! Melanie: I believe the first time cruiser code was CTC . Give DCL a call & if that doesn't work let me know. I believe you can also say someone who previously cruised referred you to DCL. If they need a name I can PM you with a name & date of cruise, but I believe the code I gave you is the code you need. Pattiteach Will you be at the DIS meet after the sailaway party? Or maybe we could meet somewhere before the sailaway party? I will also mention to my kids, my daughter had e-mailed another Dis'ers niece & I'm hoping they will get to meet also. I haven't been letting my DD online while I'm not at home, so I don't know how much they've e-mailed each other.Lynr: You certainly are having a tough week! I've never been stung by a bee, but I can't even imagine being stung by two, & being allergic also! Hope you're better now! Talk to you all later! (Typing this from work)! Kathy :wave2:
