In regards to Mr. Sanchos- we went on our last Western Cruise and had a great time. We brought children with us. They had a trampoline in the water that was ($4.00/2 hrs) and the kids played on that. There were plenty of tiki huts and lounge chairs. They had a bar right on the beach with swings and live music. There was also a small pool there. Bathrooms were clean and you can rent watersports there or have a massage on the beach.
Entry to the beach was free, however, they did come around with a can asking for tips for the band, waitstaff etc. On the way in/out there are little huts to do some local shopping. The food was pretty good too! We thought it was all around a great beach to hang out at. I think the cab ride for 5 of us was around $15.00 a way.

I have never in my credit charging career been asked for extra numbers and was almost speechless trying to figure it out.

The two cabin thing - I just wanted to make sure they paid the balance on both rooms. I could see one cabin paid for, the other let go and how to choose who stays home???

Still deciding on excursions. My son may now want to swim with the stingrays but nobody else does, so he and I might do that on our own.

Cozumel is either Channkaubab or Paradise Beach. Depends what we do at Grand Cayman.

Hey Karel..

Due to The ever popular Credit card fraud..

the 3 digit number is a saftey and security Measure..

Its Very common now with internet and phoned in purchases..

Hackers can steal any number and info from any site..BUT without that 3 digit number...They cant use it..

Its the last 3 digits on your white signature bar on the back of the card..

there should be 7 digits all together,,

last four of your account number followed by the security coded 3..

Bobby--

I'm not too sure when we'll be doing the High Tea. We need to look over our Cruise Matrix and think about what else we plan on doing and when.

Joanna--

I used the "Who's Going" list for the May 1st Cruise and tried to contact many of those that were listed there. A lot of them had changed plans and such by the time the cruise rolled around. I forgot I had even listed my cruises there until you reminded me! :D

Perhaps I'll send out some e-mails tomorrow to let people know about our thread here and the site.

Karel--

I too have been asked for that 3 digit credit card number. Generally when buying something online from places like Amazon.

Karel...It is pretty new, used with phone and internet charges. I'm pretty sure the Disney Store on line even asked for it when I ordered. I think it was the first time on the internet I was asked, usually its over the phone.

Did you call and speak to someone else about your second cabin?

Well, I figured out my problem. I signed my name over the numbers on the back of the card and can't read them. Didn't even realize they were there. Ooops!

I was too busy today to call, with my weekly morning coffee outing, work, grocery store run and softball game. I'll try tomorrow. Shouldn't be a problem, just need to talk to someone with a brain.

hi everyone

Karel, I am a senior Mary Kay Consultant and do all of my purchasing online.

The three digit number needs to be entered in order for a supplier, like me, to get payment from a buyer, like you, without having your signature. Otherwise....I do not get paid!

Joanna We will be @ the Ducks game on the 4th by six oclock...remember we talked in March when I had to purchase tickets for Bobby's 5th bday? Your still invited, lol

Was able to confirm our early dining today with DCL, due to the REAS package...What a bargan..

Reserved our Massages, Brunch and Palos..

Only thing we need to do once we get on board is Register our Kids with the clubs..

I am Tossing about Cozumel..

What is there to do at Mr. Sanchos for the Kids?..I went to the web site and only saw Young Couples having fun..No Kids..

We have the Jeep Tour Booked allready, But may change so the kids can have fun at Cozumel..

any help would be appreciated..

We are a family of 5 traveling. And as I looked at my confirmation sheets, it dawned on me that we were not give a discount on the 4th and 5th passanger. I called DCL and they said because we booked 2 rooms, we were not privi to that.

Well that stinks. We booked and paid for it in full back in OCTOBER . They didnt have a room for 5.. We had no choice but to book 2 rooms.!!

Does that make sense??? Disney of all places should accomodate more then 4 in a family.

Ok thank you for letting me voice my problem and thanks for reading... if you still are that is..lol

Oh well, a little rain over my head :umbrella: .. nothing that a few messages from this board won't cure.

We are 5 also..and MUST take a Cat 4..

Also in the resorts ate WDW we Have to use a Premium Resort..

I have said this many Times..

ITS NOT FAIR, and A Co. Like Disney Should make it easier for larger families..

I would for once to go to Disney at a discount price..and we did the math on the 2 rooms..Its really not worth It..

Hope My Pain helps you a little..

Completely sympathize about the family of 5 - we are a family of 5 too and have decided to try the cruise first alone just DH and I. Mostly because it is our anniversary and we LOVE Disney so what better way to celebrate??? But also because after checking the rates for the 5 of us to cruise, we need to make sure the cruise is compatible with our children! Namely our 3 year old who has some developmental delays and severe language delays - we need to make sure he will enjoy this and not be terrified. So I am not looking to fork over that much money for category 4 or above until I know it will be worth it for them! :)

Glad to hear everyone's plans for the cruise are progressing. It's getting closer! :bounce:

I'm here! :wave2:

Just been busy with a few things, and my sister and BIL are coming up for the weekend from NJ :sunny: so I've been doing extra yard work, too. They come up to visit every year, but usually in November, so this will be the first time they've seen my lawn green, and my flowerbeds with flowers in them. I want it all to look nice :rose: :flower2: :flower: :flower1:

I have been reading all of the posts here. It's so much fun to read about everyone's excitement about our cruise :boat: :)

I don't have much to add regarding the cruise, right now. We're all paid off, all of our reservations are made for airfare and the pre- and post- cruise hotels, and now it's just going to be a matter of deciding exactly which excursions. Our only definite so far is the Tulum ruins. When it gets closer to the 60 day mark, I'll probably be posting more about the other excursions, to get more opinions.

I've been reading the menus for the restaurants that are next to the Radisson. I wouldn't mind just bringing pizza to the pool area, but not sure what DH will want to do. The Italian/pizza place as well as the Greek restaurant, both look good :)

Ok enough of that, Its paid for and we will still have a great time.
The weather here in Central NY has been great:sunny: 90+degrees the past few days. So more time out in the pool and less on line:(.

Joanna: What is SPR's??

Melanie: I hope we can make the cruise more enjoyable even though your will be childless on board. It may be well deserved break.. i bet they will miss you.
My Hubbie and I cruised a yr ago August,, and I thought of my kids daily and thinking how much they would have been enjoyng it as well... So this time, they are coming with us.

We ate at the restaurant next door to the Radisson. We ordered some pizza and some appetizers. The food was good. As far as the Radisson's food , BLAH !!!

Mr. Sanchos is basically a beach. Our kids were happy just playing in the water and building sand castles. They had the big trampoline in the water too - I do know someone that went in February though and said the trampoline was not there. So who knows with that. They also have a small built in pool so the kids were going back and forth between the pool and the water. The pool is not that far from the water. We could have our eyes on them either way. The pool was only 3 ft deep throughout. It was kind of like a big jacuzzi without all the jets. I loved having the live music right there too!

Reenie: I know we will miss the kids terribly... especially since this will be our first time away from them for more than one or two nights. Yes, you are right - a WELL DESERVED break, but it will be hard not to think of them constantly! :) I know we will do our best to enjoy it without them :teeth: We are hitting Disney World with them for a few days in July anyway so they will see Mickey too! :earsboy:

I just read a post that AAA is now giving $75-$150 on board credit for booking with AAA as well as the soda mugs.

I did not book with AAA and I called them to see what the cost of it would be to transfer the reservations. Not a problem and no extra cost. So I still get my great deal from DCL back in October plus all the AAA extras...

"Beginning June 12 on the Disney Magic® and June 13 on the Disney Wonder®, AAA/CAA Travel will receive a new member benefit. Clients who purchase a Disney Cruise will receive an onboard
credit good toward merchandise, spa treatments, shore excursions and other onboard activities. This
benefit replaces the complimentary soda program, which will now be available to all Guests at the
24-hour beverage station on Deck 9 Aft and during meal hours at Topsider Buffet/Beach Blanket Buffet.
Complimentary sodas will also be available on Castaway Cay at Cookie’s Bar-B-Q and the adult-only
beach, Serenity Bay. Sodas will remain complimentary in full-service dining rooms.

The following AAA/CAA exclusive member benefits still apply:
• 10 percent discount on merchandise onboard at Treasure Ketch with a minimum of $75 purchase
• 10 percent discount on snorkeling, bicycle and .oat rentals at Castaway Cay
• AAA Vacations® Diamond Card privileges and access to the AAA VIP Lounge located in
Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom® Park (one visit per party) when Theme Park admission
is included in a 7-Night Land & Sea Package.
*Any unused portions are non-refundable and non-transferable. Onboard credit is combinable with other
onboard credits. Onboard credit amounts shown in U.S. dollars.

Itinerary Stateroom Onboard Credit*
3 or 4-night cruise Categories 10-12 (Inside) $ 25 per stateroom
3 or 4-night cruise Categories 1-9 (Outside) $ 50 per stateroom
7-night cruise Categories 10-12 (Inside) $ 75 per stateroom
7-night cruise Categories 1-9 (Outside) $150 per stateroom

So now,I can fill my cooler with um , more,,lol um,, WINE, CORONA, instead of all the PEPSI I was planning..Coke is ok, but PEPSI is my choice.

Hope this helps you guys!!!:wave2: Doreen

Thanks for the info Doreen. And I have to say, your use of colors in your posts is always a welcomed touch! ::yes::

The AAA credit would be a nice addition to the cruise but I'm a bit hesitant about their statement that "Onboard credit is combinable with other onboard credits." I already have a $200 onboard credit for the Aug. 28th cruise and a $400 onboard credit for the Sep. 4 cruise. I want to take NO chances in loosing those and I know that Disney has strictly enforced their "only one stateroom credit" per person, per cruise rule.

Perhaps I'll call just to see. Thanks again for the info!

Hi everyone :wave2:

Jason, did you get the new pictures I emailed this morning? I'm not sure what sizes they are, you might have to shrink them. Thanks again for changing our picture. I want people to see what we look like now, so we can be recognised. :magnify: The pictures were taken within the last 6 months, and DSs have grown even in that time frame, but still look pretty much the same. The picture of DH and I looks exactly like what we look now, including my new glasses.

Regarding the new soda policy: I'm not sure if we should still get the soda stickers for DSs or not. The soda will supposedly be free at Topsiders, and at the Deck 9 beverage station, but not at the bars or anyplace else. I want them to be able to get a soda while they're at The Stack, and anyplace else on the ship. I wonder if it will be free there or not :confused3 I'm going to wait and hear how some of the teens on the cruises prior to ours have been able to get sodas, before I decide about the soda stickers.

Hi Terry--

I did get the pics and they look like they should be fine for the site. I'll try to get them up tonight.

I heard someone post on one of the other threads that they won't be offering the soda stickers anymore at all. Or was it that they won't be offering the mugs anymore? Change is confusing!

I would think that they would sell those mugs now more than ever. With the Beverage Station offering soda now too, people would probably buy the mugs for their soda and other drinks. They could sell 'em for $8.00 or whatever and probably make a lot of money.

Mjasp
06-10-2004, 06:41 PM
Lyn...I'm assuming for you to give All Seas your ressie, they beat your price by more than $200. I remember that thread, that DCL wouldn't give the $200 credit if you booked with All Seas because they are a Disney wholesaler.

Reenie...Thanks for the info about the "free" soda.

Good afternoon everyone--

We're having *beautiful* weather here in Clearwater. Rain! Yes, I love the rain more than the sun. Although, now the sun's coming back out. I shouldn't have said anything. I don't know how I ended up in the "Sunshine State" when I'm more of a fit for Seattle. :teeth:

I want to share something with you all. I took the following picture this afternoon. The beast that you see in the pic is one of our five children. (We call them kits instead of cats. Don't know where that came from.) At any rate, this is the kind of thing that I have to put up with when I'm trying to access the Dis Boards. Can you believe the nerve?

Ginny--

I hope the site is working now. I checked the pictures on another PC and they seemed OK there too. Has anyone else had any problems with *****************?

I wish I could be more help in determining what the problem could be but I'm really not that great with PCs. When something goes wrong with mine I usually resort to crying and beating my head against the table. ;)

My Siamese cat, Mushu, sits right on my keyboard when I'm trying to type. I should snap a picture of him, he's a riot. :p

Oooohhhh, don't even get me started on that one, Terry! :p

We also have a Tonkinese (Mocha) and they're evidently related to the Siamese. They say this about them: "The Tonkinese is an intelligent, gregarious cat with a sense of humor. These cats are firmly convinced that humans were put on earth to love them; these are the cats that know they belong."

Boy, does he fit that bill! He is very vocal about wanting attention and will come into a room and "scream" at us in this high-pitched, creaky, meow until he gets what he wants.

The things we put up with as cat fanciers! :)

Wow, did anyone watch the REAGAN funeral? I was sitting here blubbering like an idiot... Imagine what it will be like when I have to leave the cruise.

My daughter found out that she made the Cheerleading team :cheer2: at her high school. Her screen name used to be ANTICHEERLEADER so its quite comical that she is one herself.. She said they make her twitch.. She is so funny. The last 3 practices are the weeks we are gone and first game is September 3... Oh well... the cruise must go on.

Well happy weekend everyone.

Now I am off to continue in the saga of housepainting. It feels like I have been painting more weeks than I have anticipated this cruise. How many weeks? Will I be done before we leave? Will it ever end? Will someone come and do it for me while we are basking in the Western Caribbean sun?

Great job on the magnet design, Bobby. Looks great. ::yes::

I hope I didn't discourage any of you from your Key West plans! I just thought the article was interesting. As I'm sure I've mentioned on this thread before, we've been to Key West twice and have only had one bad experience with an individual there. By far everyone we've encountered has been very friendly.

Go and have a great time everyone! Eat, drink, and be merry! It's vacation! :)

Here's a little bit of info too. Not too far from the dock there is a multi-story, red brick building. You should easily be able to see if from the top decks of the ship as we pull into port. That building used to be a customs house for the island but has been converted into a small museum. They usually house several small, rotating exhibits at any one time. Travis and I find it's a great place to learn a little about the island and take a much-needed break from the heat. The cost is about $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. (Last August we got in for 1/2 price because we came about an hour before closing. Don’t know if that’s a regular option or something we just happened into.)

Here's the website with more info: <a href="http://www.kwahs.com/">Key West Art & Historical Society</a>. (On the front page of that site, the bottom-most picture is a front view of the building.)

Hello everyone! :wave2: Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. That Key West article was interesting. I've never had any problems while I was there with anyone being rude. I guess it is like living anywhere that attracts tourists - can't stand the traffic and "problems" they may bring but love their money spent into your town! Oh well... we will all enjoy ourselves anyway!

Getting closer to our 60 day mark! :Pinkbounc

When you book excursions on the phone with DCL, does that then assure your placement??? Such as if I say I want Tulum Ruins for Cozumel - I wouldn't have to choose a secondary excursion if they tell me I am all set and confirmed, right??? Just trying to figure out how all of this works!

Hope everyone is doing well and will be "talking" to you all again soon!

We always e-mail our excursions in and have never provided a "second" or "third" choice like the excursion form asks for. We've also never not received the excursion we wanted.

I don't think you should have any problem reserving the Tulum Ruins tour but, if you would like, I'm sure they would note a second or third choice for you if you wanted to leave one.

We also have lanyards another DISer made for us on the Inaugural Western, They were great to hold your KTTW card. I will ask DD to take a picture and post it. I'm not creative like that, so I picked up a box of green leis, The good thing about the green leis is if you where them on board after the 1st DIS meet, since you won't probably remember anyone after that, at least when you see the green lei, you know they are a DISer. Especially early morning when the ship is eerie, it is good to see someone you kind of know. We had green leis on our last cruise also and it was nice.

Scanning the lanyards is this weekends project.

Believe it or not I bought them at a party store and it is a full box of 50 GREEN leis LOL

They had all colors, but only one box of green left. If I need more than 50, I'm sure they will have more in stock by then, or I'll just stop at the same store in a different location. My DD8 wanted me to get the green punch balloons from Oriental Trading. I stuck with the leis so if anyone wanted to identify themselves during the cruise they could wear them.

Hot and sunny on LI today. Too bad the pool water isn't warm enough for me yet.

Hello all!

Just a quick note to let you know that the Disney Magic August 28th Cruise Matrix is now available at <a href="http://**********************">*****************</a>. The matrix is an "at-a-glance" way of organizing some aspects of the week.

I developed it for our first seven-night cruise and it really helped us make all of our reservations at Palo and the Vista Spa and helped us avoid scheduling conflicts. For instance, say you want to dine at Palo (a must) but don't want to miss the "light show" at Animator's Palate. The matrix will help you avoid that conflict. Or, say you want to stay out late at Key West but are unsure if you want to miss the show that night. Just check the matrix to see if the show is one you want to see or not!

The PDF file has all three dining rotations (denoted in the upper-left corner of the matrix by either [LAPLAPL], [APLAPLA], [PLAPLAP]) so you can plan for each rotation. Since the majority of cruisers won't know which rotation they will have until check-in, it's often best to have a plan of action for each.

The matrix has the port ashore and departure times, evening show schedule, restaurant theme and suggested attire, Palo Champagne Brunch and High Tea times, and notes for the Animator's Palate presentation ("light show"), Character Breakfast, and Captain's Welcome Reception.

Hope it proves helpful!

Hello Everyone..

What time do we actually Dock at Cozumel..is it 9:30 CST or 10:30 EST..

Im confused..My excursion guide emailed me this..

Hi Bob,
I checked your reservation and it appears the guides will be meeting you at 9:45am at Burger King. Yes, your 10:30 time is Eastern so you should actually be arriving at 9:30am CST (island time). They can see the cruiseship from the meeting point so they will be waiting for you as soon as you can disembark and get to Burger King (which is located at your pier)
Let me know if that answers your questions.

any help would be appreciated

Bobby--

The night prior to Grand Cayman (Monday night while at sea) the ship's time will fall back 1 hour due to the change from EST to CST. This would mean that we will arrive at Cozumel at 9:30 CST. The guests who have booked excursions through Disney are usually some of the first people off of the ship.

Likewise, on the evening that we leave Cozumel the ship's time will be adjusted forward 1 hour to reflect the change back from CST to EST.

Last Day of School - Hello summer! My family is in three different schools and we all finished the same day.

I tried to pay off our cruise early but I don't think All Seasons will charge the credit card till tomorrow. They seemed surprised that I wanted paid earlier.

:goodvibes I didn't know we could talk that way,,lol

What a great bunch of cruise people we are here.

My husband MARTY wants to start packing today as well. I told him if I had to could be packed in half an hour. He reads the boards with me,, but can't type to save his soul. He is waving now:wave2:

Jessie I am glad you were able to go back to school and I hope it was with a big smile.

Melanie, I paid our cruise in October when we booked it. Have not received any papers except the guest copy of the cruise info . it has the names, rooms, dinner seating, the times of the Ports and our names and ages. But nothing more ,, yet

Terry: thanks for the count downs,, I like to see the numbers get lower.

Great night here. Kids are in the pool.. I am on the deck,, sun is just setting:sunny: ... Hmm makes me think of Key West. Ok so I am real excited

have a great night everyone

I paid via DVC points last November. All I have is the letter from them confirming my points and $75 exchange fee. I never got anything from DCL itself. I'm assuming it'll come via overnight express the beginning of August!

Hi Travis, nice to see you posting :wave2:

Joanna: I have thought about buying a prescription snorkel mask, I didn't realize they might have them to rent! I have my own gear already (snorkel and mask), and I've needed a good reason to take the plunge and get contact lenses, so maybe this will motivate me to finally get them! :magnify: LOL

Hi Cindy! I'm so glad that Jessie was feeling well enough to go back to school yesterday :sunny:

Karel: My sons are finally finished with school too! No more rushing in the morning :teeth: I think I like the end of school almost as much as the kids do!

Reenie: Tell Marty that we're waving back to him! :wave2: LOL

Regarding All Seasons Travel: We booked through them too, and I paid it off a while ago. I wonder why they're telling people that they have to wait to pay their balances off???

My DD12, 7th grade finished her full day of school on Tuesday and now has finals 2 hours a day. Her last hour of school is next Friday. My DD8, 3rd grader still has full day of school until next Wednesday and then Thursday is a half day and Friday is one hour.

Then Monday starts camp.

But at least they will be able to sleep later.

I can't wait until Aug. 28 when we can all meet. It's coming pretty quick now.

Karel:

I had the same problem with All Seasons Travel. They don't seem to want to make the payments when I call them in. I have to email and call them back each time I make a payment to find out why it hasn't been posted to my account. I made a payment on 5/19 and on June 5th it still wasn't posted. When I made my final payment on June 3rd, and I questioned why a few days later the payment hadn't been posted the person on the phone told me they were busy, but when I got and email back another person told me it was too early and they were going to wait until the 24th. I insisted that they make the payment that day and they did.

I have had another problem with them that when I call in they don't know how much I owe and they have to call Disney and call me back. Their accounting department stinks and is very unorganized so I am not real happy with this company and will not use them again.

I received my excursion documents this week which was nice so that we can decide what we are going to do.

Thanks for the offer to fax them to me Lyn, but I was able to view the excursions from the web sites that Bobby had the links to. :)

Thanks Bobby :)

So far we are definitely doing the Tulum ruins, we may just skip the Western Union Schooner the day we're in Key West (My husband said he'd rather just explore Key West a little on our own....we'll see...), and we're still leaning towards the Nautilus semi-sub and snorkeling excursion for the day we're in Grand Cayman (I'm going to Stingray City next summer on a Royal Caribbean cruise). I'd like to book these excursions at the 60 day mark :) Oh yeah, for Castaway Cay day, we still want to do the Banana boats and rent a Hobie Cat. :boat:

My friend wants us to do Bermuda next year with her and family, but the big ship does sound good as does Carnival's ship to Tortola. Believe it or not DH is hooked on DCL.

Joanna:

Yes, we're going on the Voyager of the Seas in June 2005. :sunny: It's a 9-night cruise, from the new cruise port in NJ, to the caribbean. And as of 2005, the Voyager will also be going to BERMUDA on 5-night cruises!! These 2 cruises will alternate with each other. So, you could go to Bermuda on the Voyager, if you wanted to :) The dates are out now for 2005, and the rates are supposed to be coming out sometime in the next week.

Hi Bobby:

As of now, we're thinking of doing the Nautilus semi-sub and snorkel excursion. Here's a link to their own web site with a few pictures and descriptions. The excursion we're doing, they call it "Captain Nemo's Adventure Tour". http://www.nautilus.ky/ I'd do one of the Stingray City's excursions but no one else in my group wants to do that, and since I'll be back at Grand Cayman next summer, I'll do it then. I'd also consider a beach excursion, but again, no one else in my group is really interested in the beach  At least I'll get a day at the beach at Castaway Cay :sunny:

Hello..

I was just reading over the munus from the magic's seven day Cruise..

I was wondering...Can you order Prime rib other than the "Around the World" Menu?..

I cant believe its only on that one menu..

Thanks

Bobby

Mary Anne

Bobby, I'm going from memory here, - close to 4 year old memory but you probably can only get the prime rib that one night. They do have some type of steak every night but that cut only that night.

I have to say we found that DCL had the worst food choices of all our cruises. Not that it was bad, just not quite as good as some of the other lines we've sailed. However, that was 4 years ago and things could have changed. I've heard if you ask your wait staff stuff like Prime Rib does somehow appear on your plate. We're also going to do Palo's as many times as they let us. Mean parents, mean parents making children eat in the dinning room alone LOL LOL LOL

Three Circles have sailed more and more recent perhaps they can offer more information then my sad state of a memory LOL

Mjasp
06-20-2004, 12:56 PM
MaryAnne...What lines and which ships have you sailed?

Mary Anne
06-20-2004, 04:14 PM
I've sailed on the Home Lines, which is no longer in business. That was close to 35 years ago and if you ever sailed on the Big Red Boat that was one of the Home Line premiere ships when it was brand new.

We've also sailed on Celebrity - about 2 times in the past six years and Holland American 2 or 3 times in the last 25 years. Food ways, in recent times Celebrity was far the best. However, overall, although it was a different era, you couldn't beat the way you were treated on Home Lines 35 years ago. OMG, prime rib and lobster = EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, AND THEN SOME.

We were on the 3rd 7 day cruise. They were still working on the kinks. It was still very nice.

hello Everyone..

Hope all had a Great Day Today..I DID..

Have a question about Palos..

According to The Three Circles Cruise Matrix.."Thanks Jason And Travis"

The evening I picked to eat at Palos...2 Things that I wanted to do are happening the same night..

1: Its Prime Rib Night..and Lobster Bisque Night...Two Of my favorite Dishes..

2: Hercules the Muse-ical..

The First Part..I may go to early Dining..have my Bowl of soup, and Ask for the prime Rib to take back to the room...Or eat it at Dinner...I dont know Yet..

The Second Part..If I go to early Dining..I will Miss the show...We have 8:30 Palo Resies..

IS the Show That Good?..Or can I miss it..

I just Hate to Miss Prime Rib and a show..hehe

Any Help Here would be appreciated

Thanks

That's one of the worst things about the cruise in my opinion. There are always so many different activities going on and so many great things to do that it's hard to make decisions on what to do and what to miss.

Hercules the Muse-ical is a great show in my opinion. It's full of jokes and current-event ad-libbing. On our first cruise, it was probably my least favorite show, but after seeing it several times, it's now one of my favorites.

What you could do is ask your servers in advance if it would be possible for them to make you a "To Go" plate that you could pick up after the show. You could then take it back to your room or up to Topsiders and eat out on the deck. I'm sure they would be happy to do this for you.

The Palo servers generally aren't satisfied unless you leave stuffed so be prepared! The first time we ate there, there were four of us and they brought out every dessert they offered for each of us.

Talk about sugar overload! :hyper:

Another thought, the Palo Servers may also be able to get a prime rib for you from the other restaurant. That way, you could have that and also try something from the Palo menu.

I would say that Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer runs about the same as the other shows. They usually do a pretty good job of timing it so that it doesn't run over.

As far as leaving prior to the shows end, I really don't think that would be a problem at all.

Bobby: I agree with Joanna, you see people dressed all different ways on formal nights. On last years Royal Caribbean cruise we saw full formal - ball gowns, tuxes- all the way down to some people who wore jeans and t-shirts. Most people did wear formal attire, nice suits and ties for the men and fancy dresses for the ladies. I saw all dress-lengths on the ladies too. My two fancy dresses are: ankle length for one of them, and below the knee for the other one. Not sure if I'll buy new fancy dresses for this year or not. I'll wait till it gets closer to the cruise and go shopping and see if I find anything that I like. :)

Just a quick note that we've added new cruisers to the Disney Magic August 28th Cruise Site at <a href="http://**********************">*****************</a>.

We've also added a second group to the "Official August 29th Great Dis Southernmost Scavenger Hunt"!

So far, we have:

Rcomputers (Gail and Julian)

Also, here are the names that appear on Joanna's Cruise List (on page one of this thread) but don't appear on *****************:

Caren90

I'll be printing off name tags for the Dis Meet from the web site so I want to ensure that if you do indeed want a name tag that you've sent in the info. If you would rather not, that is OK too, of course.

Here I am. Hello.
Have been lurking for a while but didn't have anything to add really. The Scavenger Hunt in Key West sounds great to us since we've been there before and have seen most of the sights. We're hoping it's something like the one we did in the Magic Kingdom a couple of years ago. We thought we were experts but learned a lot of little details that we had never noticed.
Thanks for all your work on the site, Jason. It's great.

Not many of us staying at the Radisson, Went to Jason's "three circles" site and there are only 5 families staying at the Radisson. On our last cruise there were quite a few families. A small DIS meet is good for the shy ones, BUT I don't think any of those 5 are shy LOL

Bobby: If it isn't too much to ask, can you make a magnet for my DH and myself that says "Terry & John" and then a magnet for each of my DSs? Their names are "Craig" and "Robby". So that'd be 3 separate magnets, all with the same cabin # though. I'd be happy to help cover the costs of the magnets. :) (My DSs last names are different than mine and DH's, that's why I thought it'd be nice for them to have their own magnets).

Parrot Cay vs Topsiders - The food is the same! We ate there first and then took the kids up to Deck 9 to swim. We eat at Topsiders every day because we are usually in swimsuits and it is too much work to change to have lunch. Only change for Bingo - hahaha! I found it to be a nice change to sit inside and have lunch on the first day.

I love both itineraries! Everyone asks which one do you like better? HMMMMM - let's think about this ....Is Paradise better or Paradise better???? hahaha

I do actually enjoy the extra day at sea on the Eastern though. I always find sea days to be more relaxing. Listen to me....relaxing.....nothing about me is relaxing! I like to party from morning to night. : )

ThreeCircles
06-24-2004, 11:01 PM
You sound so much like us Carol!

We too are always being asked which itinerary we like better and, to be honest, I am usually hard-pressed to even begin to answer.

I think each has it's pros and cons. I love the extra day at sea because I enjoy the Magic so much and love being on the ship. There's just something so cool about being on a beautiful ocean liner, being pampered, and having no responsibilities at all! But, on the flip side, the Eastern seems to go faster for me because as soon as you hit that first port you're already headed home.

I love the Western ports. I think Cozumel is just tons of fun and has that party atmosphere.

Ahhh... Now I'll be too excited to sleep tonight after all this talk of the upcoming cruise!

BTW, Travis and I are usually in the clubs and such pretty late so I'm sure we'll run into ya! :hyper:

DARWIN91
06-24-2004, 11:11 PM
Oh good someone to stay out late with. I usually lose in the battle of when we should turn in or not. Love to dance! My biggest issue is that the clubs dancing start after 11 pm. Last cruise we spent alot of time in the Promenade lounge because there was a couple there that performed we really enjoyed - Duo Santos. It was nice to have drinks in there after dinner. A cordial or too! Ohhhh - I have "Frangelica" on my mind. I was not that thrilled with the band on my last cruise. Forget their name - it will come back to me about 4 a.m. hahaha

ThreeCircles
06-24-2004, 11:24 PM
We saw Duo Santos on our May 1 cruise for the first time and agree that they were really good. The singer was great with the kids and the adults and had a great voice.

Travis and I would stop by before dinner and have a cocktail while watching them. You know, a pre-cocktail, cocktail! Sparkling Moments: Champagne and Strawberries one evening, Martini Night, the next... There are just so many choices! :)

Don't know if you're a fan of the Beatles but they now have a whole theme night devoted to them. They hand a huge British flag on the stage of Rockin' Bar D and have the band dressed up as the Beatles. Great songs and a lot of fun!

The Charles Marshall Band was on the May cruise. Out of the two that I've seen play, I think they are the best.

We'll back you up in the "when to turn in" debate! :) Three votes to one and you'll be closing down the clubs with us! :teeth:

Looking over the Navigators from the May 1st cruise it appears that the Beatles nights was on Sunday. The official name of the event was "60s Dance Party" and the description reads as follows:

"The Charles Marshall Band & the Cruise Staff play tribute to the famous '60s lads from Liverpool."

11:00pm Rockin' Bar D, Deck 3, Forward

"Funky drink of the night: Yellow Submarine $4.75.

From what I remember, the music was all Beatles but I've often learned that my memory is not 100% correct at all times. :p

I'm not sure of the exact date that they started the Beatles (60's) Night. On our first two seven-night cruises they had a 50's Sock Hop night. On our cruise in mid-August 2003, we noticed they had stopped offering the 50's Sock Hop and went with the 60's theme. But, like I stated before, it seems that it was more of a Beatles night. So, I guess the change came somewhere between May 03 and August 03.

I so love the Beatles. I just saw a Beatles band in April called the Bootleg Beatles from the UK. They were awesome. www.bootlegbeatles.com. I am a groupie at heart. I also saw a band that plays the tri-state area called Strawberry Fields. I have not been that impressed with the bands on the Disney Cruise line. I guess because my husband is in a band and if they are off for one second I detect it. But I have enjoyed the duo acts and reggae bands.

Gail--

I think it varies from cruise to cruise depending on the number of smokers onboard at any given time. During our last two cruises I really didn't notice much smoking going on at all in Rockin' Bar D or Sessions. I tend to really notice smoke too and can't stand the stuff in my clothes or on my body. Thankfully, as I mentioned, it really didn't bother me much last time.

DCL also does a pretty good job of "sectioning" off the clubs into smoking and non-smoking areas. Although, smoke does drift.

We did the Castaway Cay parasailing last year --- solo, not tandem --- and it was great! I'd recommend taking a couple of those inexpensive waterproof cameras with you. One for "in the air" and one for "in the boat" ... that way you can take pixs while in the air and someone down on the boat can take pixs of the person who is up in the air.

Hope you have a blast!!
