I was hoping we could do a July cruise? Hopefully that would avoid all hurricane's maybe even late June 1st week in august? I know that so far prices for August are not out . Has anyone heard anything? I did hear that they expect the hurricane season to get worse.

I can't believe it, but as of now, DH is actually open to the idea of going on DCL in 2006 :teeth: I know he really loved this last cruise and wants to do a Disney cruise again.

I checked on All Seasons Travel's web site and so far they don't have any 2006 dates or rates out yet.

So....for those us who want to cruise in summer 2006, it looks like we're unanimous about it being an eastern cruise, right?? :) It would be awesome if as many of us as possible booked for the same week again. :sunny: Since DS Craig is graduating high school that year, we couldn't go too early in June because if there were snow days, we wouldn't know exactly when the last day of school would be until a couple of months beforehand, and of course we wouldn't miss his graduation! LOL We'll be throwing a graduation party for him, too. But we're open to basically any week in summer 2006, from late June to mid August :)

FYI - I spoke with DCL tonight and they are still offering 10% off and the $200.00 onboard credit to anyone that was on our cruise that wanted to re-book since the rebooking desk shut down at the end of the week. It will only be offered for a short time though.

I just added color to my signature and I made the line about our cruise BOLD, and now I realize that it looks just like the line in Bobby's signature! :teeth: Hope you don't mind, Bobby, I wasn't purposely trying to copy what you had! Although, I think it looks great! :) I really wanted our 10-night cruise to stand out over the other trips in my signature, thats why I made only that one bold.

Hi all!

Ginny: Talked to the DH regarding your computer and he said if it boots up at all there is a chance to salvage the pictures by removing XP if it was loaded as a an upgrade or running the computer in safe mode/last known mode. That would probably help you retrieve the pics. But he said if the drive reallycrashed and won't boot at all then you will have to take it somewhere or send it somewhere to see what they can retrieve from it. I hope I explained that right!!!! . I am not any good with any of it. That's what I have him around for!!! LOL
Don't know what you have tried already but I hope this helps a little at least!! I have lost pics before too and HATE having to deal with that - the only downside of digital I think

Hope everyone has a good night!!!

Oh Boy "a list" LOL "here we go again"

Count me in for a 2006 Eastern Cruise.

Group rate? Would that be less expensive than the 10% off per stateroom and $200 stateroom credit? Might not be, then we are at the mercy of anyone cancelling etc. But we can maybe ALL transfer our bookings to one TA, and they may then give us an added bonus. When its time we can send e mails to different TA's.

As my friend the comedienne stated...Hurricane season...Who cares, I agree with Mary Rose, if we withstood this one we can withstand another one. Bring em' on. As long as we sail the week BEFORE Labor Day weekend.

The end of August is MUCH cheaper than July.

Let me know as soon as the 2006 rates come out

Carol...Thanks for that bit of info, I think I will call them this weekend. If you book a cabin for 1 and then add 3 more people to it, will they give the 10% discount ALL 4 people or just the original 1.
Doreen...You did this didn't you?

Thanks

Joanna - I bow to your list making ability, that is your job, please forgive me. 50 lashes to me with a wet noodle!!! LOL!
Also, I didn't realize that we couldn't get a group rate and the rebook discount but that does make sense. Maybe some travel agent could give us a deal. One last thing, if the rates for 2006 aren't out yet then how can I call and credit the rebooking deal? Thanks for any help......

Ok Mary Rose, first things first, PLEASE FEEL FREE to continue to make the "list" I am still trying to get back to normal.

You can book any cruise and then when the 2006 dates come out you can switch your reservation to that date.

You know, we can also check out a cruise out of NY. The arnival Legend to Tortola and Puerto Rico, St. Thomas. OR The Voyager of the seas 5 night cruise to Bermuda with only a one island stop.
OR the Norwegian Dawn to South Beach, Bahamas, Port Canaveral and I think their private Island. Or we can Discover the Magic on DCL.

I'll be able to give a firsthand report about the Voyager of the Seas after our cruise in June :) I love the idea of not having to fly, it saves time AND money. There are a lot of ships that cruise out of NY/NJ now. I love the idea of doing another DCL, but we'd be open to any, since it'd be a lot easier to depart so close to home. Too bad DCL didn't cruise out of NY, but I bet that's how everyone else feels too, who have cruise ports near their home. :p

I go to the ER for a few hrs and miss 3 pages.WAHOO reunion 2006 . Well, the curse continues.. My mom's husband had mini strokes... in the ER and now the hospital tonight... They plan on going with us in 2006.
Ok add me, Marty, Jaclyn and Daniel in one room.. Karen and mom and Moms Husband (Theresa and Roger) in the other.
Eastern in August looks good. Antigua looks good too. There are no dates out for 2006 so far. So we booked a bogus date in NOV 2005 with Donna on board. One room each so $250 for me and Karen only. will add on the rest after a few months.
Mary Rose... SAVE THE BOOZE,,lol
Joanna,, get that list going... I will call AAA and see what they can do... for 50,,lol I agree August is cheaper..
Yeah to Bobby and Cindy and Bob and Lyn too, wahooooo!!! We seem to have a lot of Bob and Johns,,lol

Hi Joanna - I know what you mean about getting back to normal - I feel really exhausted all the time! And for the record, I'm down for a cruise from NY. I trying to remember who was telling me on our cruise that they are cruise on Voyager of the Seas next year with alot of family members (was it you Terry?) Anyway, RCCL has ice skating and a rock wall, all that sounds good to me too. There's even something appealing about not driving to FL for a change. But either way, I'm in!!!!!

Terry...The only thing I notice is that Voyagers prices for August to Bermuda is the same as 7 nights on the Magic. But add the air fare, the transfers, pre night hotel and pre night meals. It may be worth it anyway.

Mary Rose: Yes it's me who is traveling with a group of family members next June on the Voyager. All couples! We're leaving the kids home for that cruise. :teeth: Anyone want to join us? This ship leaves out of the new Royal Caribbean cruise port in Bayonne, NJ. :teeth:

Joanna: Unfortunately, Bermuda cruises are not inexpensive. I think that's why when we priced the Disney cruise that we just took, we didn't experience sticker shock. LOL Everyone talked about how expensive DCL was, but in comparison to our Bermuda cruise last year, it wasn't bad at all, and last year we had an inside cabin.

Also, I know that All Seasons books all cruise lines, but they didn't offer much of a discount for RCI. I think maybe $50. We ended up booking with Cruise Value, which is the same company we booked last year's Bermuda cruise with. They do a high volume of RCI cruises, in much the same way that All Seasons does high volume with DCL cruises.

Doreen: I hope your mom's DH will be better soon!!

I may have missed something in trying to catch up, but I noticed several comments about a 10-day Eastern Reunion cruise in 2006. Is DCL in fact scheduling a 10-day summer cruise? Or am I just out of the loop...

Hi invadezim - DCL is not offering a 10 day summer 2006 cruise that we know of, it's just a 2006 reunion cruise of our 10 day 2004 cruise. Sorry for the confusion.

Mary Rose:

Well, I'll put my two cents in -- add me to your list. I would vote for Western, but only because that was our first one and we missed Key West and we like the Mexican ports.

I agree that beginning of August would be better than end of August. Anyway, let me know what you all find out.

I must admit (and have hesitated to do so), I am really bummed that I did not meet more of you this cruise! By the time we got to the DisMeet, a lot of people had left (or not arrived yet maybe). We met a couple of people, and of course Jason and Travis were there, but I didn't actually meet some of you until we were on the bus to Orlando (like Doreen)!

I saw the pictures of the group up on Deck 9. I didn't even know about that gathering. :(

Oh, well, maybe next time.

I can't believe what an interest I opened up with my question about the "mystery" couple. I only asked because my daughter was totally fascinated by the son. We know his name is Samson and her name is Cheyenne (Cheri) because we saw her name on the auction sheet after she won a bid (my daughter's investigative techniques). He was always filming everything -- and seemed genuinely happy to be there. It was probably his first cruise. They were on one of our excursions and my daughter snuck several pictures with her polaroid. Just one of those entertaining things that keeps you busy (stalking people, that is :hyper: )

Thanks for all your pictures.

Mjasp

Hmmm....Samson and Cheyanne, must start a search on google LOL I can see your DD wanting to see "Samson" he looks like a cutie, was he ever in the clubs? OK go ask the teens people

I'm not sure but I think I met you at the DIS meet, did you get a green lei? Also, I thought I handed you the name tag that Jason and Travis had made. But it was such a long time ago and a lot of things happened since that first DIS meet. LOL

Spoke with Bobby last night, and we are thinking and I mean just thinking of doing a 4 or 5 night to Canada next summer to hold us over until 2006.

Mary Rose, I think you should start a "August 2006 Eastern cruise" Thread.

It should be interesting, I am hoping the dates for the Eastern will be around 8/20/06 That would be perfect as far as school is concerned and camp will be over. It's not just the east coast that doesn't start school until after Labor Day. It's that way in western Washington too. (I was rather upset that ours was the ONLY school district in the area that decided to start before Labor Day this year. I was totally shocked. I attended the same school district myself from 4th grade onward and can only remember one other time that they started school so early.)

I asked Devin (DS) last night what he thought of a 2006 Eastern cruise. He looked at me with a big grin and sang, "That's the way, u-huh u-huh, I like it!". (Oh my God, KC & the Sunshine Band. Shades of Junior High come back to haunt me. Although that's happening alot here lately, since Devin is now in Junoir High. One of his gym teachers is somebody that my brother and I both had in Junior High as well. Boy, I bet that he feels old! LOL)

I am going from the 18th to the 22nd. I think my Grand daughter Brittany is going too. Skating nationals are in Pensacola the next week & I told her is she wants to go to WDW she would have to go to Nationals. She said she would like that.

We're aiming for earlier in July, but not sure yet. Our anniversary is July 8th which is a Friday next year, so I'd like to fly down to Florida on the 7th so that we could have our anniversary dinner somwhere in WDW on the 8th. Don't laugh, but we'd probably choose the 50's Prime Time Cafe in the Studios :teeth: If not there, then maybe the Castle for dinner. We had dinner there in 2001 and I had one of the best meals ever there. :) The filet mignon literally melted in your mouth!

We'll be coming back from a 9-night cruise at the end of June, so we'll have to think about the idea of going away again, only a week later. If for some reason early July doesn't work out, then we'd consider going later in July. Maybe we'd see you there :)

Boy, not able to get online for a few days & I have 15 pages to catch up on! I'm going to have to make sure I get over here more often! Just wanted to say "hi" to everyone & to say I miss all of you too! Melanie: I'm glad Ivan missed you & all is well. MaryRose: I would love to do a reunion cruise in 2006, but I think my next cruise will be on Royal Carribean. Unfortunately, my kids weren't all that thrilled with the kids clubs & definitely weren't happy with the pools. Just way too many kids in too small of a space. I am up for a cruise out of NY though. That is one thing my DH & I have been thinking about. Doreen: Miss your Amaretto Mudslides! Ginny: Happy belated birthday! I too am now officially 40 (boohoo)! Having a big shingdig tomorrow night...will have drinks for all of you::drinking1 , wish you could all come help me celebrate! It was suppose to be a suprise party, but they had to tell me in case I had to work. I am sooo looking foward to it. Invaderzim: Just wanted to say that I too ran into alot of rowdy kids & also received a prank phone call. Mid-week I let my kids sign themselves in & out of the Clubs, but they were given specific orders: they could go to deck 9 to get soda & food, but they had to stay in the room when they weren't in the kids clubs. They preferred being in the room & watching TV, if they wanted to go to a Movie or Character greet, they had to find us & let us know. As much as the like WDW, they weren't as enthused about the Cruise as I thought they would be. That's part of the reason I've decided to try RCCL. Anyway, have a good night all, & hope to talk to you soon! Kathy :wave2:

Kathy...My DD8 wasn'tthrilled with the clubs either, she mostly stayed with us or played in the arcade, only went to the club when we went to Palo or did Rockin Bar D at night. That was fine with me.

May try a NY cruise next year, but will wait until it gets closer as the prices go down with other cruise lines the closer to sail date.

Have you been on other cruises? I've only been on one other one but as far as I know, most pools on cruise ships are tiny. And a lot are filled with salt water. If pools are a priority for your kids, you might check out an all inclusive resort instead.

nuts4sn00py
09-18-2004, 09:25 AM
Hi Karel. The only other cruise line I've been on is Norwegian & that was over 10 years ago. I know the pools on the ships are small, but during the day, these pools were packed! Honestly, my kids will go anywhere there is a pool. They loved CC for the beach & GC for the same reason. As long as they can be in water, there happy :D . Joanna: While I was looking foward to spending time with the kids, I wasn't planning on spending as much time with them as we did. My kids also went to the clubs when we went to Rockin' bar D, but very grudgingly. Which made it hard to really enjoy ourselves when the kids weren't having fun. I did find once I gave my DD permission to sign in & out she seemed to be at the Clubs a little more often. Overall though, we loved the Cruise & hope to do it again sometime in the future. You're right about prices being better as the date gets closer, so I will just have to keep an eye out when we're ready to sail again! Kathy :wave2:

Hi Joanna and Kathy:

I might be wrong, but I don't think the prices on the summer cruises come down, the closer it gets to sailing time. I know that happens a lot in the off season because they don't fill the ships, so they reduce the rates to try and fill the ship. We sailed out of NYC last summer and will be sailing out of NYC again next summer, and from everything I've read over on cruisecritic.com the NYC sailings, especially in summer, really get filled up. So if you want to sail in the summer, give your TA a call and see what they recommend. Another thing you can ask is, if you book now and the rates do happen to come down closer to sailing, will they get a refund for you. I know that usually this is the case. I don't want to seem like I'm interfering with your plan to wait, but I just wanted to let you both know what I've read about and also experienced with our trips out of NYC. Just yesterday I checked, and the cruise we have booked for June 17, 2005 on Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas has gone up about $600 since we booked it a couple of months ago.

Mary Anne
09-18-2004, 11:11 AM
SeaSpray is right about the cruises out of NYCity. If you're going late June, July or August book as early as you can, those cruises fill out very fast. If you can hold out to sailing in Sept/October then you'll probably have good luck with prices coming down.

Also if you are flexible with your dates then you may luck out with cheaper summer prices. I've seen sometimes a week or two in August have prices come down, but you generally don't know about them till 2 or 3 weeks before you sail.

Also, why don't you go to the trip report board and post a link of your report there. I'm sure alot of people would LOVE to read it, it is very very good so far, I feel like I was there, and then I see my pic and realize oh yeah I was there.

Gotta Love Us! Are we the only DISers who continue our thread weeks after our cruise? I am glad to hear that some of you had problems with your kids and the clubs also. I thought it was just mine who didn't like them. I love them but 247 with them and an extended vacation, starting wearing me down.

And then you realize how small the ship really is LOL

On the first night my DD8 had a meltdown that she wanted to go home. Yep, I tried to explain to an overwhelmed tired 8 yr old there was no going home, so she (we) endured the rest of the cruise together and with the arcade. It set the tone, and then when the capt. said more time aboard OH WELL, need I say more, the ship got smaller and smaller and smaller...you get the idea. Last time she didn't like the clubs either BUT she didn't hang with me, THANK GOD for that arcade.

Wow, great pictures, everyone! I just took a look at the gallery. I have no idea how to get pictures up there, but then again, I have most of mine on my site. Should I add them to the gallery as well??

I have to say, I am definitely looking forward to our Royal Caribbean cruise in June, but I am going to miss that "Disney touch" that you see everywhere on the Disney ships. I know that the Voyager will not have the same charm or evoke the same feelings in me that the Magic did. You guys are the only ones I can say this to but I know the rest of my family that we're cruising with next year would NOT understand what I mean. lol (And I don't want to say much to my DH John because I don't want him to think that I'm complaining or ungrateful about the RCI cruise). But I cannot wait to get back on the Magic, hopefully in '06 :sunny:

If anyone is interested I got an email from All Seas Travel today that said Disney would be opening their 2006 sailings within the next few weeks.

What week are we planning on sailing together? I am going to call Disney and book Bob and I for 2005 and then switch once the 2006 rates come out. Is anyone planning on going to Disney before the trip?

Has anyone had success getting the 25% off with the $200 stateroom credit?

We have decided to go on Carnival next June with our friends as a graduation present to our kids. Anyone have any suggestions on ships or itineraries?

Hello Lynn..

We may book a 5 night out of NYC that goes to Canada...

I need a year off before that drive to Port Canaveral again..

As long as we can only drive within 4 or 5 hours, we will go out of any port ..

I looked at that cruise too but we really like the hot weather so I can't talk them into Canada. The Carnival rates for the Caribbean next summer look to be comparible to what I paid for the Disney Cruise this year. Here I thought Carnival would be cheap.

Hi Everyone
For those of you who met my family and I on the cruise, I just wanted to share that my DH Stan has been diagnosed with colon cancer. He was a very sick man on the cruise and never let on because he wanted me to have a wonderful vacation. I now know why he was so pale and tired for the whole cruise. I would appreciate it if you would keep him in your prayers.

Lyn and Mary Rose, thank you so much. Yes, he must have surgery. He is in the hospital getting blood transfusions because he has lost so much blood. The Dr said he doesn't know how he was walking around. He only had 1/3 of the blood in his body that a normal male is supposed to have. He was so pale you couldn't see his lips. He had a blood test on Thurs and Fri afternoon his Dr called me and told me to find him immediately and take him to the ER. He was at work. Talk about being scared out of your wits! Thank God my son Dave is visiting and took care of getting Sandy from school and my mom hadn't left for her week in Ocean City. Between the 2 of them they have kept Sandy so that I could be at the hospital. I came home tonight because the transfusions seem to be working and I wanted to give Sandy some reassurance. I'll be back there tomorrow morning. I've been able to talk with all the doctors and they seem to have a plan. All I keep thinking is "we only have each other". I'm so tired. Thanks for listening!

If he was walking around with only 1/3 the amount of blood he should have had he must have been feeling really lousy and didn't let on. Now I know I'm not in the closest of proximity to you, but I'm at exit 9 off the NJTPK and I will help you in anyway that I can. Please contact me if there is anything I can do. You are all wondeful! Thank you.
Good news - they let Stan come home today. He had a choice of staying in and completing pre-surgery testing and building up his blood or coming home and doing it. He's such a MAN. He needed to come home and take care of things before surgery. I thought he should stay in. But I have to admit that I am thrilled to have him home. He actually has some color. Surgery will be scheduled in Virtua West Jersey-Voorhess. That is where the surgeon is associated.
I have to tell you how much I love this man and how scary yesterday was. Thank you all for your prayers.

Darlene, I am so sorry to hear about Stan. When will he have his surgery? Is there anything we can do? My husband is an Occupational Therapist, and often sees people after they leave the hospital. I don't know if you will have one, but he can answer any medical questions. He helps people get back to doing everyday things and modifing their environment so that they can function indepentantly. Some people have them after cancer treatments start and some do not need them. We will be here for you, and like I said you can ask John anything. I live in philly so that I am not far.

I agree with you on both accounts,

I think it may be close in price with All Seas, to hold onto my $1,000 until 2005 may be worth giving up the 10% and $200 credit.

Lyn, Marty and I took Carnival PARADISE for our honeymoon 2 yrs ago. It was purely "PARADISE". but compared to DISNEY.. it was the slums.... Our room was not bad. Since MARTY is such a picky eater,, I think they were frustrated by his food requests. We only ate the formal dinners 3 times. On DCL they were so accomadating. The entertainment was R rated at night in the adult only area. They do have an adult only area pool,, which included a topless deck,,,,(obviously not for me), and midnight buffets.
We did the WESTERN that included JAMAICIA,, I loved that part the best. We did DUNNS RIVER FALLS and it was the most thrilling thing I did since my back injury. It was amazing that I was able to climb those cassading waterfalls with ease.. (and the guide of course). It was less expensive than DCL.. but DCL does it right..

UPDATE
Thanks for asking. Stan is scheduled for surgery on Wed 9/29. The girl in the surgeon's office said the Doc made her find a date as soon as possible for him. He told her that the man has a 7 yr old and we need to get him better and home.

Sandy had an asthma attack today at school. Had to run over with the inhaler. Fortunately I work 2 blocks from her school. She knows her daddy is sick but doesn't have an understanding of it all of course. But I have to think that her attack today is someway related.

We have a peace right now with the level of care that he is receiving. Praying that nothing shows in the lymphnodes. Please keep Stan in your prayers. We have already seen the Hand of God in this situation. He took care of us before we even knew that we needed it. I met all you nice people, didn't I? As well as many other things that were put in motion before we needed it and are now in place.

Thanks,
Darlene

Sandy my thoughts and prayers are still with you.

Reenieny - I live in the big apple. Personally, I'd pick a hotel on the east side around the mid 30's. If you think Disney is expensive, think at a minumum a moderate at full rate.

That said, if you are getting in Saturday evening, what about a Broadway show; not cheap but a must do. Lion King should have tickets available.

Sunday; - I'd get up early and take the subway (very safe! don't listen to others) down to see the Satue of Liberty; moving midtown the Empire State Buidling is a must do (Ok, OK, I worked down the street from it and actually went into it once - with my son's 2nd grade class). From there, I'd take a nice slow long walk down 5th ave to around 55th Street - The World of Disney will be open by then and hey, if anything is a must do that is. One the way you'll pass St. Pat's, loads of stores and plenty of places to eat.

Once down by The Disney Store; how about a carriage ride through Central Park; again safe.

Monday; depending on what time you are leaving, I would take one of the bus tours (or you could do this on Saturday and leave Sunday for Central Park and The World of Disney Store).

Lots to do, not all of it has to be expensive.

What exactly are you interested in seeing?

winnyis
09-20-2004, 03:35 PM
How about a DIS smoothie meet in your hotel in NYC.

I agree with Mary Anne... if you can get tickets to a show on short notice.. Lion King is AMAZING.

Thanks for the update on Stan. I have been thinking about him all weekend. Keep up a positive attitude I feel that has a lot to do with a good recovery. Atlantic City is practically down the road from us. If you get together in Dec, let us know. I'm counting on the fact that Stan will be up and running by then. We would love to celebrate with you.

Doreen - they just added some performance dates for Lion King in NYC. Sorry, can't help with hotel names. Have a wonderful time!

Joanna - I didn't know that you were a surgical coordinator. The girl we spoke with today was really nice. She did alot of work to get Stan scheduled. You have a very important job. She made my life so much easier by coordinating insurance and pre-op instructions and prescriptions and finding a surgery slot.

Terry - What in the world shade of nail polish is "Don't Worry Yukon Do It"? I'm picturing yellow because the only thing I know about the Yukon is the yellow potato. Tell me before I go nuts!
Sandy felt better when I picked her up from school. She has some awesome After-Care teachers and they will watch her closely for a few days. Her classroom teacher leaves something to be desired, unfortunately.

With regard to the picture drama we had here.. it looks like were gonna have to pay between $500-1000 to have the hard drive restored. Even though the data loss is because of information a Dell technician gave Bob - they are taking no responsibility. Bob and I agree that the pictures alone are worth that much to us so were gonna pack it up and ship it off this week and hope that we are part of the 90% success rate this company has.

Sandy felt better when I picked her up from school. She has some awesome After-Care teachers and they will watch her closely for a few days. Her classroom teacher leaves something to be desired, unfortunately.

Darlene: Hehehe, no it's not yellow! It's actually a deep shimmery plum color. OPI chooses some really odd names for their nail polishes, I'd like to the meet the person who's job it is. :p

I'm glad that Sandy felt better yesterday afternoon. My sister and my son have asthma, so I know all too well how scary it can be sometimes. *hugs*

Even though the data loss is because of information a Dell technician gave Bob - they are taking no responsibility. Bob and I agree that the pictures alone are worth that much to us so were gonna pack it up and ship it off this week and hope that we are part of the 90% success rate this company has.

Planning a HUGE North East US Disney Meet July 2005 - Allentown PA

Wasn't sure if you all knew about this thread. If you're interested, sign up! Sounds like fun. Below is the text of the emails being sent out:

Hello. You are receiving this message because you expressed interest in attending the 2005 Northeast US Disney Meet in July 2005 in Allentown, PA. Majestic (Fred) has created a pre-registration form to get a better idea of the total number of people coming and the geographic area they are coming from, and has asked me to help by forwarding a reminder to everyone to sign up. This form would also give us an idea of child ages and whether or not people will need a hotel room.

Please visit the 2005 Disney Meet thread on the DIS for more information and click the link to the registration form in the first post of the thread -- OR just click the link below to pre-register.

Reenieny18: yes Henry is my son

I also did a search on the Edison Hotel. For 5 people they will only do a suite:

Combo 2 Bedrooms

Room rate:
US$270.00 (10/09/04 - 10/10/04)

Taxes: US$81.58
Total: US$621.58

Your biggest problem is that you are 5 people. Most places I've put in will only let you do 4 in a room. :(

Hi everyone!

I was thinking it would be neat to put together a map with lines charting our course. I wish I had the computer skill to do this.

I may call the cruise line to see if I could get one of the charts they sell. I think it's shows what the Western cruise should look like? I'm not sure if it shows Texas and enough of Mexico though?

I'd like to put something in my scrapbook or maybe frame it. Maybe I can go to the bookstore and buy a map.

Stan is hanging in there. Surgery is scheduled for Wed 9/29. Keep him in your prayers. So far we are optimistic that the mass is contained to the colon.

I took my mom and Sandy to NYC to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. It was awesome. We walked around Times Square, but it was daylight. I'd love to see it all lit up at night. My mom actually went up to a mounted policeman and asked him where Times Square was. He looked around and said, "Lady you are in the middle of it!" Hope you and your family have a great visit.

Hi Mary Rose, and everyone else :wave2:

I was just thinking of our group and wondering what everyone was up to.

I was just reading that the Wonder cruise that left today (originally a 3 night), will turn into a 4 night and won't be back until Monday. Then the people who were supposed to leave on Sunday for a 4 night cruise, will only get 3 nights and be back on Thursday. This has got to be so many headaches and stress for all of the CMs at DCL, not to mention all of the cruisers. I guess out of all of the cruises that got changed due to a hurricane, we had the best situation. I just hope that minimal or no damage will be done to Florida or the islands, it's so sad for those people :( :(

I hope you're all doing well. Darlene, I am thinking about you, Stan, and Sandy a lot. *hugs*

Joanna: It's on the DCL web site about the Wonder cruises this week being extended and then shortened by 1 day. I also got an email from All Seasons Travel where Chuck the owner mentioned the same thing. What a hurricane season this year :( They were just showing Haiti on the news and the death toll there is about 2000 now. We'll be visiting part of Haiti next summer on our Royal Caribbean cruise. Labadee is RCI's private beach on the island of Hispaniola, and that's part of Haiti, so it's been catching my attention every time they mention it. Now that I've been to some of those Caribbean islands, I can just imagine all of those poor people losing their possessions, homes, lives, and businesses :(

Well at least today is Friday! Both of my DSs are sleeping over a friends' house so DH and I have the house to ourselves tonight! :teeth:

I've also been watching what's going on with the hurricanes. I have never been so glad to live in an area that doesn't have them. (Just the occasional typhoon, but nothing like what you folks in Florida have to deal with.)

I finally got ahold of one of my best friends in Birmingham, Alabama on Monday evening. I met her when I was doing Y2K work for Brunos. (I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with this grocery chain.) I was so glad to hear that all of the friends I made while there are fine and most had only downed trees and 10 inches of rain to contend with. Unfortunately, one of her dogs managed to impale himself on a downed branch while chasing a cat through their yard. He's okay, but it came within centimeters of his heart.

I'm also concerned about the mother of another best friend (my son's Godfather). She lives in Miami and I can't quite tell whether Jeanne is going to nail her or not. This woman is like another mother to me. Her son and I have been best friends since Junior High. I just talked to him last night. His mom was out here visiting him during Frances and had a heck of a time getting home because the routes that she intended to use to get home were washed out by Frances and Ivan. She finally got home on Wednesday, after being stranded in Kentucky for three days.

I'll keep all you folks in harm's way in my thoughts and prayers.

It must be very confusing for those cruising now. I'm glad we had the week we did. Ours felt like more of an adventure than all the confusion going on now. Hope they all have wonderful and magical cruises.

I have to tell you that our cruise preparded me for Stan's illness. It got me in the mode of "I am not in control" and we are OK anyway. I love INVADERZIM's signature quote. I think of it all the time. Something like, "Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance."
Well, guys, we're still dancin'.

Have a great weekend. To those in FL and other places affected by this crazy hurricane season, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Stay safe.

Bobby:

Hope all is well with you and your family.

I am really enjoying reading your trip report. You have done a great job and the pictures are fantastic.

In your report you mentioned that you felt like you made friends for life with the DIS crowd on this trip. I have to agree that that is one of the things I most enjoyed about this cruise, the people were so friendly.

Is anyone concerned about our 2006 cruise? I just heard on CNN that these hurricane seasons are going to be bad like this for the next few years. Yikes, I can't imagine how awful it is for the people in florida my heart and prayers go out to them.

I am now planning for our Carnival Cruise next June. I can't find any website like this for Carnival. I am looking for one because our friends are taking their 14 year old daughter and she will be by herself since our sons are the same age. I was hoping I could find a website that she could meet some kids online before the cruise, but no luck yet. If anyone knows of any website please let me know.

I still haven't heard anything from Disney about the 10% discount and stateroom credit. They haven't even acknowledged my email and its been a week.

Cindy,

I'm sorry that you had to deal with some rule, inconsiderate folks in the laundry room. It no longer surprises me that young people are sooo rude nowdays... their parents aren't any better.

And it wasn't just the laundry room either. The line for pop on deck 9 was usually a nightmare as well. The one that got to me the most was on the morning of debarkation. We had late seating in Lumiere's for breakfast and were trying to reach the side entrance, because that was the closest one to our table. The hall was very crowded with the folks that had early breakfast. We managed to get over to the door a couple of minutes before they opened. I stepped out of the way and as Devin was trying to follow me, an adult actually grabbed him and pushed him out of the way so they could get by. Now Devin is only 4'9" and was trying to get out of the way, but this jerk couldn't wait 5 seconds to get by him. How totally rude!!!!

I really wish that people would sit down and realize that the minute here and minute there that they "save" by being rude and inconsiderate to other people only saves them no more than 10-15 minutes in a day. Isn't it worth a 15 minute investment to make the world a nicer place for everyone? Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now!

I'm just glad that I never saw anyone in our group acting that way. I want to thank ALL of you for teaching your children some manners!

Dori :yo-yo:

I'm sorry to say that out of all our cruises with DCL -- this by far had the most rude adults and unruly children we have ever experienced. Constant shoving and pushing and toe stepping just to get two steps in front of someone. My DH was almost knocked down the stairs one night by rushing children racing down the stairs! That's why I don't think children in the clubs should be allowed to sign themselves out unless the parents are willing to take full responsibility. There were 9 and 10 year olds running around Beat Street at 11 p.m.! And running around on the decks with no adult supervision. Disney or not -- there are still a lot of weirdos out there and I would not want my under age children running around at all hours of the night not knowing where they are! We sure didn't let my daughter do it on our first cruise when she was 9 and she doesn't do it now.

I have always believed it takes just as much energy to be rude as nice -- but nice has a much better feeling to it!

ElliotFan
09-27-2004, 03:13 PM
I'm with you! SOMETHING needs to be done about the unruly kids.

I know that Devin would do some wandering about the ship fairly late on occasion, while I was at one of the adult parties in Rockin' D. He is small for his age and most folks think he's about 10 (instead of 12). Fortunately, he's extremely well behaved. The rude behavior of other people upset him more than it does me. In fact, it took me a couple of years when he was in preschool to convince him that enforcing the rules with the other kids was an adult's job, not his.

As far as any wierdos go... I feel sorry for any that would mess with Devin. He's been in karate since he was 5 years old and has had his black belt for 16 months now. (One would also hope that any wierdos would be smart enough to not try anything in a place that they couldn't escape from... unless they are a marathon swimmer.)

Hi everyone. Taking a sanity break.
Stan is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. They called him this morning and said they are admitting him to the hospital today because his blood count is still too low. They need to transfuse him again before they will do surgery. Threw me off when Stan called to tell me. I left for work this morning and everything was the same and now its all turned around. Sandy went to school this morning thinking her dad would be there when she got home and now he won't. Can you tell I am a little unsettled? So, I'm waiting for a call to take him to the hospital.

Cindy - I'm so sorry that you had to deal with some idiot in the laundry room. Fortunately, Stan did our laundry while Sandy and I were at the Tulum Ruins. I am spoiled, I admit it. Glad you made it to Brunch. That was one of the highlights for us. Tell Bobby I am enjoying his trip report. I may try to grab some of your photos because I missed so much with my camera malfunctioning.

We had our share of rambunctious children running around onboard. I echo Dori's sentiments about thanking you all for teaching your children manners. They were all well-behaved whenever I saw them. I absolutely loved running into all the kids because they were all so nice.

Lyn - I heard that next year should be better on the East Coast. I'm not worried about 2006 yet. Hey, keep me informed.

Hopefully I will have good news tomorrow. Until then, everyone take care.

Or maybe i was on the right BOAT!!. MY family and I did not experience any of this stuff... I did see kids riding the elevator but not being obnoxious at all. When 5 of us were getting on... they said "we will take the stairs".
We were on deck 6 forward and it was quite.. I guess its how you preceive things. As for the soda machine.. I do wish they had one closer to midship or at least another one near the adult area. I mostly got WATER from there anyway..

I got my documents for the BOGUS CRUISE>> anyone else get them.. Lets compare dates, lol.

Still miss you all. Winter is setting in here soon..Actually have the heater in the car on n the way to schools in the AM.

I might give up my idea of NYC in OCTOBER for favor or Veternas WEEKEND. Jaclyn makes her confirmation the week after and money is short for hotels at $350 a night..BUMMER Columbus weekend is my mothers 81 bday too!! Oh well...AUTUMN in NEW YORK is still in NOVEMBER too,,lol

AC= Atlantic City. Hey I think it is going to be fun if we can get together there. Any hotel in particular you guys like? I would like to try the new one. Starts with a "B". The woman at work goes there all the time and LOVES IT. We can meet in front of the slot machines, where drinks are free and have a DIS meet, instead of the lounge LOL

Thanks Doreen about the light info.

It is pouring here, wow I can't believe it.

Thank you, everyone, for keeping Stan in your prayers. It means a great deal to us. Hopefully surgery will take place as scheduled tomorrow and he can start the healing process.

Joanna - the hotel/casino that starts with a "B" is Borgata. It is only about a year old. I have never been there but it is supposed to be very nice. I don't gamble but I would love to get together with anyone who can make it. Do they really have "free" drinks?

Somebody let me know when the 2006 dates and rates come out. I haven't gotten any docs from DCL on our bogus dated cruise.

I just spoke with my TA at MouseEars Vacations who booked our 8/28 cruise. She is saying that we are still entitled to the 10%/$200 onboard credit offer and is looking into it. If so, we are going to book a 2006 cruise for either Memorial Day week or 4th of July.

Whatever happened to the "reunion" cruise -- was a date or month ever decided on?

Wow, I didn't know that they were still offering us Aug 28th cruisers the discount and onboard credit. Let us know if your TA is able to get that for you!

I know that a lot of us are looking at the August 2006 rates and dates. Doreen has booked for August 19th, which is the new "special western" itinerary. I'm currently trying to talk my husband into booking that, too. lol

invaderzim
09-29-2004, 10:04 AM
The only problem with the "new" itinerary is that -- as much as we love CC -- I'd rather have an additional port than an additional day at CC. It looks like they took away Key West and added the extra CC day. I've got my TA checking on the Eastern and Western itineraries for May and June to see if they have added any ports or changes to those.

Also, since we are also sailing for two weeks next August, I think maybe we might want to give August a rest for 2006 and try a different month.

I'll let you know what I find out.

I agree with Doreen -- Costa Maya was the highlight of our trip. I wonder if Disney added it because of all the praise many of us gave it on our comment cards. Plus -- I read on here recently that Disney does check this board and I know there have been voluminous postings about that port.

Doreen -- would it be out of line for me to ask what price you were quoted? There's four of you, right? Just curious. If you want, PM me with the answer.

This might be my last hope, Ginny! I spoke to John a little while ago during his lunch break and he's still saying we shouldn't book it yet. :( I didn't know we could still get the 10% AND $200 room credit. I'll have to call him back at work and see if this makes any difference to him. LOL

Hello Friends!

It's all booked!! 8/19/06 Cabins 6610 and 6611. This time the kids are getting their own room!!!!! Here are my prices for those who are interested:

6610: $3440 - 10% = $3,095.56 plus $200 credit
6611 $2099.56

The price for all four of us in 6610 would have been about $5000. This way it's about $5200. $200 is way worth it to us!!

Ok I just got off the phone with DCL, I asked them why I haven't received an answer on my email from the 19th. It seems that I didn't have to email them. They thought I was calling about a discount that we were receiving because of the hurricane. When I explained to her it is the discount that is offered on every cruise she said she could help me. In the end she said a manager would be calling me regarding the discount and shipboard credit so now all I have to do is wait.

Now the big question, my friends want to go with us, does anyone know if I can book two rooms and get the discount on both?

Either way we are in. Just Bob and I this trip no Matt he will be 19 and isn't interested in the Disney Cruise anymore since he can't go to stacks.

Have you guys been watching the news lately?

Up here in Washington, we don't have to worry about hurricanes... just volcanos. It looks like Mount St. helens is going to erupt again. The experts expect it to happen within the next week. Fortunately, it won't be nearly as devistating as the 1980 eruption, but they are expecting an ash cloud that could reach a couple thousand feet. The prediction is that the prevailing winds will take the cloud south or south-west of the mountain. I live NNW of it - thank goodness. I wouldn't want to get caught in that mess again!

For anyone interested in first-hand stories of the 1980 eruption, corner me sometime. I was in eastern Washington visiting a friend the weekend it erupted and was delayed getting home for several days (sound familiar?) It was a once in a lifetime experience - hopefully.

My friends have been teasing me since I got back from the cruise that I draw natural disaters to me like a magnet. They claim that they are going to start asking where I'm going on vacation and then they will go somewhere else. (LOL)

Just a follow-up to my travel insurance claim for the days after the cruise.

Access America is great, I just received a check for $632.00 for our extra days after the cruise and my expenses on the ship after 9/4. They paid for everything that I charged on my ship account after 9/4, I did not bill them for souvineers and they also paid for everything that we purchased when we got back to Disney. I submitted my bill for park tickets with the thought that they would tell me no way, but they paid everything. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO TERRY, I think you suggested this company.

Along the same lines, I thought some one mentioned they were looking to be reimbursed for lost wages? Did this happen?

I don't think there was much after 9/4 that I wouldn't have paid for any way - hotel, food. Maybe internet usage?

Well, we have finally made a decision about our 2006 cruise -- and decided to bite the bullet and try something different. (Yes, that decision even shocked me). We are opting for an Alaskan cruise. I didn't think I was ready yet to leave the secure folds of DCL -- but I know that after next year's 2-week cruise and after this past one, we will be ready to do something other than the Caribbean. Plus, I just can't justify this time spending that much to do another week in the Caribbean. The rates shot up so fast and I checked out the other cruise sites and can actually get a suite with a full balcony for an 11-day cruise for less than I would pay for a Category 6 in the summer on DCL.

The only thing -- I'm so confident on DCL -- I know all the good rooms and dining and ins and outs. But I know we'll be back, even though my daughter will be 20 by then. Maybe when their new ship comes out. Of course, that will be ANOTHER bidding war!

If anyone has any suggestions about cruise lines in Alaska, let me know. I have a separate thread about this already started and am getting a lot of positive feed back about Princess, Celebrity and Holland America. Everyone is saying to stay away from RCCL and NCL.

Thanks,

Cathy

I Hear you Invaderzim...We are trying another cruise line in the summer of 2005. After being on DCL for 10 nights I was ready to try another line. Since I am trying another in 2005, I booked 8/19/06 with DCL.

Cathy:

Have you been to www.cruisecritic.com ?? They have message boards for all of the major cruise lines, plus a board devoted to ports of call around the world. I like reading the boards for our Royal Caribbean cruises.

I definitely can understand your desire to try a different cruise line. So far, we've been alternating each year between Royal Caribbean and Disney.

I wonder why people are telling you to stay away from RCI? I've heard wonderful things about their Alaskan cruises.

Happy cruise-researching!! :) Maybe you can come back and tell us what you've found out. I'd love to do an Alaskan cruise some day!

Terry,

If you ever decide to do the Alaskan cruise, you'll have to come out a couple of days early, so I can show you around Seattle!

Bobby:

I just read something on this website that the people that categories 1, 2, and 3 have to wait to be booked until DCL gets through the faxed in requests for those categories. Maybe that is why you haven't heard anything because you wanted a 2 or 3 didn't you?

I was suprised to read that they let people fax in requests before the rates are released and then once they are released the other people have to wait.

Hopefully you will still get the 10% off and $200 shipboard credit. Terry said she was able to get it through All Seasons.

I chose to go with DU for this cruise and they got it for me. I personally wasn't as happy with All Seasons as I was with DU. They seem more organized at DU, every time I called All Seasons about this last cruise we took, there seemed to be some confusion on their end on how much I had paid.

Well hopefully you will hear something soon.

Cathy, my friend did the Radisson cruise line for Alaska and loved it. It think it is a bit $$$$ but I know they include alcohol in your room and wine I believe is included with dinner.

SeaSpray They didn't say negative things about RCCL as a whole. What I've read only concerned their Alaskan line. They apparently do not have the "inside" track like HAL and Princess and their glacier tours are not as good. Otherwise, I have read good things about them for the caribbean cruises.

Dori Thank you so much for your offer! How kind. We're not sure if we're leaving from Seattle or Vancouver, but I will keep your generous offer in mind. "Tour for Hire" LOL.

Bobby - How'ya doing Pal? Where have you been, I've been a little worried?

I used All Seas last time and was satisfied, but I decided to use Dreams this time and I am super pleased. Kelsie really went out of her way for us. Thanks Ginny & Lyn for telling me about her. I think she did the impossible for us getting disc. & shipboard credit on kids room when DCL only gave it on our room. Altogether with the DU rebates it saved us an additional $360 plus the original $340 on the original ressie. Add that to the $400 shipboard credit and I saved $1,100!!!

That's alot of booze , alot of booze! LOL!

I was so impressed with her I sent an email about her. So Bobby, if All Seas doesn't come thru, I highly recommend Kelsie @ DU.

Hi guys:

Is it me or are you getting negative vibes from the person on our new cruise thread for 2006? It seems to me like he is trying to start a fight. Or do you think I am reading too much into it?

Hi guys!! :wave2:

You know, I can understand Jeff's feelings. I know we've been mixing in talk about the new cruise with talk of the old cruise, but in time, I know that most of our posts would include EVERYONE and would have to do with the new cruise. When I replied to him in the thread, I was trying to explain our excitement, hoping he'd understand, and be tolerant. I honestly don't think anyone is saying anything to make any of the "newcomers" to feel out of the "club", as he put it. It's like anything else, or anyplace else on the internet; when you enter a situation where many of the people already know each other, at first you feel like an outsider, but the more you participate, the more you get to know them, the more they get to know you, and the fact that you weren't there from the start fades away. Believe me, I have been online for well over 10 years, I know how it is to join a chat room, a channel (anyone remember IRC?? LOL), or a message board's thread. I didn't get that vibe from any of the other new people. In fact, Dori and someone from California are planning to meet at Disneyland next summer! I think that is awesome :) Also, at this point, with the cruise being SO far away, if we weren't talking about our old cruise and plans for the new cruise, what else would we be talking about? I am sure that Jeff is a decent person, and before long we'll forget who was on the Aug 28th cruise and who wasn't, but in the meantime, I just want to step back from the new thread. Sometimes I have a quick reaction and I just didn't want to say something on the thread that I might regret later, or that might cause someone to feel badly. I'd rather step back then say something that could be mean, to someone else. I just didn't like his comment about us "taking over the thread". We're ALL allowed to post anything and everything that we want to.

Ok, this is long enough. Sorry. LOL
*HUGS TO ALL OF MY OLD FRIENDS!!!* :grouphug:

Hey, we're at 200 pages now. :teeth:

I emailed Karen and told her to "meet" us over here on this thread, where we can TALK! I really hope Doreen will be OK :(

I have to say, I am a bit disheartened to see a few of the 2006 cruisers who are so bothered by our conversations and reference to our 2004 cruise. I don't see why. I mean, I can see WHY, but not to the point of making a big deal out of it. Oh well, whatever. I don't want to act childish, but I am dying to ask Joanna to re-title this thread to something like "August 28, 2004 LOST AT SEA cruisers - Next cruise together: August 19, 2006". I dont know, something like that. lol I mean, its really taking away a lot of the fun of us going together again, if we can't even talk about that fact over on the new cruise thread. I almost regret saying that I was taking a break last night, because after I thought about it for a while, I wish I had said "I'm sorry some of you are feeling left out, but a lot of us met for the first time on that cruise and became such good friends that we all want to cruise together again, which we are doing! Feel free to join into the conversation at any time". Why should we not talk about whatever we want to talk about? We were including the new people! I mean, did we get upset because Bobby & Cindy and Joanna all knew each other in real life and talked about that on occasion? Do we get upset when Doreen and Karen talk about family stuff? Of course not.

Oh well.. sorry, had to vent.

And by the way...I am NOT changing the wording in my signature or my countdown. If I had been replied to differently, then I probably would've, but forget it now. <--- I'm not really mad...Just annoyed. lol

If I had known that bringing up the idea of t-shirts was going to get their knickers in a knot, then I wouldn't have offered.

What he doesn't realize is that my initial idea was to use an actual satelite photo of Hurricane Frances as a template for the t-shirt design. However, I decided that it would be excluding all the new folks (before I ever posted), which is why I stated in my original post that I was looking for a design that would work for everyone.

As far as the "Lost @ Sea Club" goes, I thought that it would be a good name for a group of folks that spend their vacations cruising (i.e. - trying to get lost at sea). I just figured that the name would have a special irony for some of us.

Dori:

The more I thought it about, since last night, the more I know that none of us did anything "wrong", or anything to make the other people feel excluded. There is nothing wrong with us 8/28/04 cruisers being excited about so many of us cruising together again. They are free to join into the conversation at any time, and to bring up whatever subjects they choose to. I know this all seems so childish, but I am a bit annoyed with myself for not standing up for myself (and all of us, actually), last night. Oh well. And by the way, I thought the idea of the t-shirts was an excellent idea. I know we had talked about it for this past cruise, but I think since none of us really knew each other at the time, the idea never went anywhere. But for our next cruise, I think a lot of us would be into it! :)

I'm finished with worrying about how other people react to what I say. Heck with them. For now, I am staying here on this thread. Like I said in my post just above, maybe we can ask Joanna to re-title this one.

Okay...

So now the question is...

Do we still want t-shirts?

If so, do we want them to be strickly "reunion" t-shirts or do we want them to be genereic enough to include the new folks on the other thread as well?
