Our flight is 2 hrs 25 mins. We don't arrive until 1225. I'll guess we'll just miss each other.

Do you know there is a meet after the boat drill?

My DGD is 10. It seems there are a lot of kids that age in our group.

You are probably near my daughters age. She's 38. We are leaving her DH & DS's home. Who knows maybe you two could hang out.

Thanks for the info on the timers. Last night I asked my other daughter, Colleen, how to put them on there. She did it for me.

I thought you had left already.

I don't live in Philly. I was born there & lived there as a kid. Many moons ago I sold insurance for Met in the Mayfair section. & The skating rink on the Blvd (The Palace) is one of the skating rinks our skating club practices at. Oh, we live in Florence which is about 1/2 hour away. I can see the tpk bridge from my house.

I wish we were leaving a 7 am. We will be leaving the house at 7:15.:yo-yo:

Isn't it time to leave yet?

I spent two hours this morning standing in lines and handing out money to get my son set up in Junior High school. Now my brain is fried and I can't concentrate on my work.

Mickey!.... Take me away from all this!!!!!!

My SIL and BIL are taking the Autotrain tomorrow and will be at the Radisson on Thursday and Friday. If you see a big guy, early 50's, crew cut, with a short woman (under 5'), early-40s, with short reddish-brown hair, they are probably Tina and Bill! Say HI to them :teeth:

Doreen,
Are you sure that Kino sandals is closed?!? Year before last, when we were on the Western, the Kino store was open. I had called before we went down and was told they were closed on Sunday, but when we were paying for our sandals, I asked the lady and she said they open when the ships are in port. I'm hoping that's still the case. I want sandals!!!!!

Have a safe trip, Bobby and Cindy! :)

As for me, I think I'm coming down with something. I called my doctor's office and got an appt for this afternoon. I'm wheezing (and I don't have asthma), coughing, my head hurts, my sinuses hurt, and my throat hurts. :( I'm hoping it's just allergies. At least we're not leaving till Friday morning but if I am coming down with something, I want to start taking something for it so I can feel better soon.

Who is still around? I know a few families have already left to go to Florida.

We're still here also, but not for long.

I just finished packing for 3 hours. I am taking more than I thought but under the limit. 3 garment bags, one big suitcase and a shoe suitcase. I would have only needed two garment bags but the tux's take up a bag by themselves.

Tomorrow night this time I will be at a hotel in Atlantic City waiting for our plane at 7:15 AM on Friday. One more day of work and I know it will be a long one.

Ok Terri- I had to leave a dinner party a few hours ago because I started to get dizzy and felt rumbly in the tummy. Needless to say, I did the cruise panic until I came upstairs to my bathroom and saw the allegra bottle. Then I remembered why I stopped taking the allegra. Now I still don't feel that great, but at least I know tomorrow morning I will feel better.

My eyes get blurry from allergies, so I took a few yesterday and today so that I would be able to help Bobby drive.

See you, and everyone get there safely

Well, Andy & I made it to Orlando about 2:00. We've gone shopping at the Character Outlet (Disney outlet store), Big Dog, and Wal-Mart. Believe it or not, I actually forgot my hair dryer...and I really don't like the dryers on the ship. So, one new hair dryer. :)

Then we headed over to the Doubletree Club and checked in. Dinner at the Big River Grill at the Boardwalk. YUM!

Kathy - I'm sorry I missed the earlier post about your son. I hope his strep throat clears up really quickly! I'm also sorry about your friends FIL. How awful. Doesn't it seem like it's hard to get a break? I know we have all been looking forward to this vacation for a long time and alot of us are stressed out and sick. I'll keep your friends in my thoughts & prayers.

Along the stressed out thought - yesterday we found out the buyer of my Mom & Aunt's house has backed out. The closing date was to be 8/23 and on 8/25 they pulled the rug out from under them. This has been going on for three months now and of course the cancellation of their sale will affect their new purchase which now may need to be canceled, and so on and so on. Anyway, we all spent the day yesterday crying and I'm afraid the stress of it all might give my Mom another heart attack (2 already) or stroke (2 already). To make matters worse, it appears the real estate agent and lawyer might be trying to steal my Mom & Aunt's house (which represents their life savings).
Late yesterday a "white knight" has come forward to buy their home for "cash" for $45,000 less than the sale that fell through. Even though this isn't nearly as terrible as what Kathy's friends are going through will you please keep my Mom and Aunt in your thoughts and I hope there is a special place in hell for people that would take advantage of two 76 and 74-year-old widows. Thanks!

Bon Voyage to all leaving today (that's me too)!

See you on the ship or at the Radisson where believe me, I'll be needing an adult beverage!

That leaves about 13 hrs. to drive on Friday. We have never driven straight through in about 9 annual tripswe've driven, but we're thinking of trying to drive straight through on the way back home this time. Seventeen hrs. really isn't too bad. Latest Disers that were hit with our Cruise Curse.... No more Getting sick!!!! Feel better soon!

Kathy...so sorry to hear about your best friend's FIL! I hope that everything works out for them between the cruise and everything they must be dealing with right now!

Mary Rose....hope your Mom and Aunt have Good Luck with this buyer! :)

All those driving straight through to FL..... when we lived in NJ a few years ago and visited often all family in FL we always drove straight through. It is easier with the kids to be driving while they are sleeping for us. Adam and I LOAD up on coffee and he would drive from about 5pm until about midnight while I try to nap around helping the kids and then I drive the overnight until about 5am and then he drives the rest of the way. We still do this driving to CT to visit Dad now! The only down side for those of you looking to try it is you need at least 1 1/2 days to recover and get your system back to normal after the trip is done! Good luck and BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!

I finally started packing last night. I got the garment bags done. I was surprised that Devin ended up with a garment bag all for himself. (He's gonna look great on the dress-up nights. We got him a black double-breasted suit to wear.) I still have to get the rest of our stuff in the suitcase tonight. Of course, that will be after we go to the open house at the Junior High. (Just what I needed on my last night to get everything together!)

I know that I'm going to be TOTALLY useless in the office tommorow. I hope that the boss doesn't notice.

I can't wait to meet everyone on Saturday... if I can stay awake that long. (Maybe I should pick up some No-Doze to help counteract the affects of the red-eye flight.)

Geeze, the only time a week has seemed longer to me than this last one was when I was 9 months pregnant! LOL

Terry,

I almost hate to admit this, but I'm an anomoly. I'm a Seattle native that doesn't like coffee (not even candy, ice cream or liqueur). That's why I was thinking about the No-Doze. Either that or an entire 6-pack of Diet Pepsi.

We got in around 11pm last night (Tuesday night).

We took a DCL bus from Port Everglades to Orlando airport, arriving there around 1pm. We had a 7pm flight home to Boston, and fortunately the 6 hour waiting time went by pretty quickly. The 2-hour lunch at Chili's helped a bit, too. :p

It was WONDERFUL to meet so many of you on the cruise!!! I felt like a lot of us were old friends, right from the start! I really miss seeing you at the pool today! :teeth: And Travis, tell Lourdes we said "Hi!" We'll miss our daily iced coffee!

John went back to work today, and the boys made it home in time for their first day of school today. I've been busy unpacking and looking through all of the souvenirs we bought.

I hope you ALL make it home safely!!!

What an absoulte wonderful time we had the past 2 weeks. the extra days were a great bonus to spend with my new DIS- FRIENDS/FAMILY.
It was great to see everyone and learn about each other. We got in about 1015,pm last night, and home about 11pm after we got all our luggage. It took us 4 hrs to get to MCO from Fort Lauderdale. Bobby, Cindy, MaryRose and Family.. I hope you found your car safe and sound. Lynn.. Hopefully you got a flight tonight..
Terry I want to go swimming in the WAVE POOL too!!
Ginny.. What can I say.. It was great..We are rebooked for an AUG 2006 Eastern. No dates yet.. I will talk to all soon .. and wil send pixs..

We've arrived home too!

Before I give my details we just want to say what a great time we had with all of you. Especially given our "extended" circumstances, I always felt safe because we had so many friends onboard. You are all a really terrific bunch.

Okay, now for details....

We rode to PC on a DCL bus from Pt. Everglades arriving about 1pm. We tried calling the Rad all the way up Fl but their phones were down. We rode with Lyn, Bob & Matt (they don't have a flight until Thurs.) When we arrived at PC we ran into Karel, Rich & kids. There was no way to get to the Radisson, no shuttle, no cabs, no nothing. DH asked our driver to take us all to the Radisson and he agreed (big thanks & hugs to him) There were quite a few takers to the Radisson. Let me take a moment to give a big thanks to Lyn & Bob who graciously offered to drive us over to the Radisson in their rental car. All I can say is bless you Lyn & Bob. Anyway, we loaded up and went to the Radisson. Both our & Karel's families cars are without damage Thanks Goodness!!!!Then both Karel's family and ours went to talk to the front desk at the Radisson about starting to run the shuttle. They told Karel they were waiting for people to call them - well duh - there phone was down. Oh, that's right they say. Anyway, me and John went over to PC to see if the shuttle would indeed run and to see if any of our DIS friends needed help. Happy to report the Shuttle was there and since we really needed gas, set off knowing our new friends would not be stranded. Bobby & Cindy, & Darlene, please check in with us as soon as you can so I know you got a shuttle.

Long story short, we had a really, really hard time finding gasn In Fl, also remnants of Hurricane Frances followed us all the way up the East Coast. Four tornadoes touched down in NC during our journey there today. None near us thanks goodness although the skies were really black & scary! We arrived home very tired and very happy today around 4pm - 31 hours after we left Ft. Lauderdale (stopping 6 hrs. for sleep)

It's been a real trip people - one we will remember for the rest of our lives!!! I'm really glad we are all starting to arrive home safe & sound! Thanks for the memories!! Let's please all stay in touch!

Love,
Mary Rose, John, Taryn & John

I'm so glad to see that more of us are arriving home safely! :)

I have to say, spending time with all of you really added a wonderful dimension to the cruise. I was never at the pool where I didn't run into someone I "knew". :teeth:

Tonight we had chinese food for dinner (haven't made it to the grocery store yet!), and it was strange not seeing Mary Rose and family, Lyn and family, and Doreen and family in the same room! :p

EVERYONE from these boards that I met were so nice! I'm kind of sorry that we have that Royal Caribbean cruise booked for next June because I *really* want to go back on the Magic!! Maybe for an eastern itinerary next time. Since we missed our stay at the Polynesian last weekend, we might just take a trip back to Disney World after the cruise next summer.

I hope we keep this thread going, I really feel like I've made some new friends :) :)

We made it home safely also. Took the MCO bus from Ft Lauderdale, and except for getting a flat tire and being stranded at a rest area for 2 plus hours, everything was fine. We booked a room at the hyatt for last night and that was so convenient... well worth the $135. We were able to check our bags at 7AM - then go upstairs and eat breakfast in our room and hang out til about 45 minutes before our flight... Flights were without incident and we arrived home about 2:30 today. Now its tons of laundry and getting the kids ready to start school tomorrow.

I agree with everyone else's sentiments... having all of you on the cruise made it so much more fun. It was great to have a friendly face everywhere I went.

We should all try to plan a reunion cruise together.. wouldnt that be fun

Talk to you all later

We got home yesterday going out of Ft. Lauderdale. We arrived home safe except somehow in the move from the cruise ship to the airport one of our bags became lost. they are still looking for it. Naturally it was the one with all the cruse pictures I bought. I have my digital ones but I hope to get the "professional" ones back also.

We had a nice time also but were really glad to be home. I doubt we'll be taking another cruise for a while. 10/11 days was just a bit too much for the 4 of us in the one room. Our next trip in 4 or 5 years we'll book 2 rooms and probably go out of NYCity.

Glad to hear everyone is getting home safe and sound.

Wow -- what an experience! Definitely one for the story books. And just think, we were all a part of it.

Except for the fact that the last three days on ship were a little more stressful than a "planned" 10-day cruise would have been, I must say we tried to enjoy it for it's "historical" value. This was a first for Disney and a first for us after three cruises. So we just tried to go with the flow. The only thing we were concered about was the unknown of getting to the airport and not knowing if it would be a "mob scene" with other cruise ships arriving.

Disney had rebooked our flights from the original Saturday at 1:35 to Tuesday at 1:35 p.m. However, by the time we found out they were disembarking and we made it to the first level, we didn't actually get on a bus until 10 a.m.! So we missed our flight because the driver had to make a restroom stop. US Air had nothing else, so we got a flight out this morning at 9:30 a.m.

The ironic thing is, our whole trip from start to finish was a comedy of errors. Our 10:00 flight from Philadelphia on Tuesday, 8/24, was 3-1/2 hours delayed due to mechanical failure. We should have known that was a sign :p . The other irony of the timing of this cruise is that we changed our original date from November to August because we didn't want my daughter to miss any school, and she missed two days anyway.

After we took Disney up on their free hotel accommodation offer, they put us up at the Port Orleans Riverside last night. Haven't been there since it was called Dixie Landings. Ate in the food court and enjoyed their pool for a while -- and then crashed in those great beds. We had a pick-up at 6:00 a.m. with Meers (Disney also gave us all free shuttle passes) and everything this morning went like clockwork. The flight left on time and even arrived a few minutes early.

So we are happy to be home. I will be posting some of our fond memories and interesting observations (good and bad) on the board later.

So glad you are all getting home safe and sound. It was a pleasure to go through this unique experience with all of you.

We finally made it back Wed night at 5:30. Stayed the night in South Carolina in Florence. Those tornados were giving me the willies and we went to sleep with dripping water at our window.

A long long two days. I was so happy to see my van in one piece! And those people at Radisson are morons. "Well, we don't know the schedule so we were waiting for people to call..." Duh!

I think we saw Mary Rose in line for gas in Fl. Bobby - do you have a blue/greenish Astro van? I was sad to see the destruction in Fl.

We took 301 to avoid Washington and went by Annapolis, over the Chesapeake and through Maryland into Delaware. Took forever but we didn't leave until 8;30 this morning.

We're Home!
Glad to see so many of our friends have made it home safely. We took the bus to the port to pick up our rental car and then drove to Port Orleans-Riverside. We left there very early this morning to catch a Spirit flight out of Tampa. If we waited for MCO we would still be there (is that a bad thing?).
I have to say this was our best cruise. We met so many nice people and really enjoyed seeing friendly faces everywhere we went. Even at Port Orleans. I half expected to see someone in Tampa. LOL
I for one think DCL and the CM's did an outstanding job of keeping us safe, fed and entertained. Can you imagine the logistics of getting everyone off the ship and bussed to different locations? That alone had to be amazing. The only thing I missed that I regret is not being on deck on Mon night when the Wonder sailed in. Can't believe I missed that!!! Someone post some video!
Sandy had a wonderful (Magical) trip. She loved meeting all the kids-Conner, Jessie, Casey, and everyone. This is a trip she won't forget. We had great tablemates and excursion mates. Everywhere we went we met super nice people.
Mary Rose, Terry, Joanne, Ginny, Bobby & Cindy, Jason & Travis, all the other great Dis'ers I kept running into. Welcome Home and stay in touch.

Darlene - So glad you're home safe & sound! So nice to meet you and your DH & DD!

Bobby & Cindy - Please tell me the Radisson shuttle picked you up at PC? Glad you made it home safely too!

We spent the night just in Selma NC, just south of Rocky Mount. We stopped about midnight. We didn't know about the tornado warnings last night or we would have stopped sooner. We got back on the road this morning at about 6:30 and made it to Old Bridge around 3:30 - 4:00. Today we did know about the tornado warnings and I was scarred to death until Wash. It was a rough ride home. First I kissed my car at the Radisson and then I kissed the floor in my foyer. I had an absolutely fabulously great time, but I can honestly say, I have never been so glad to be home in my life!

What an experience huh guys?

Bobby - sorry that Radisson wasn't there to greet you. We stopped at the front desk and told them on the way out to send their shuttle down there. They said they were waiting for people to call them and then I reminded them their phones were out. They said, oh yeah...

Hi Bobby,

Me & John went back to PC to see if anyone needed a lift to the Radisson. The Radisson shuttle was there at the time so I felt confident that everyone would have a ride and I went in search of desparately needed gas. I'm glad your DCL bus driver also took you guys over to the Radisson, that was the decent thing to do. The main thing is that you got to the Radisson to your car, but after me & Karel telling the front desk that the Magic cruisers needed to be shuttled, I wish they could have handled it better. Oh well, all's well that ends well!

I'm so glad to see more of us are arriving home safely!!! Andy, Karel, Sandygirl!!! :wave2:

As for the magnets, someone stole the personalized Mickey Head magnet off of my sister in law's door! On the first day, we brought in the other magnets and put them on the inside of the door because we didn't want anyone to steal them. We left the personalized green Mickey heads out there. Ours weren't stolen, but I can't believe someone stole my sister in law's!! When she saw that it was gone she called us to warn us, so we took our Mickey heads into the cabin at that point. Now they are all on our fridge! Thanks again, Bobby! :)

Glad to see more people are home and more importantly.. back to the boards. I can't wait to see pics on line, esp Mary Rose and hubbies REAS towel arrangements... :hyper: What a fabulous time we had. We are booked for another cruise. I was thinking Aug 2006 Eastern.. but I am not liking the excrusions so far..
We are getting remants of FRANCES today with winds 30-40 at our Airport in Syracuse.
It took us 4 hrs to get to MCO and then I had to tell DCL that I needed tranport to SANFORD OLANDO airport. They told me they didnt have MEARS shuttles for hours.. I told them it wasnt fair that they would put me up in a hotel for the night,, but not take me the other 20-30 min away.. Well, within 15 min or so we had a chaffeured Town car taking us to the airport.:teeth:
It was so great to meet everyone.. I hope to keep in touch over the yrs. and maybe do a reunion cruise. Cindy,, your kids are great..Lyn, I hope you make it home safe to get Matt to school..lol Both my kids are off to school already.. Time to catch up on sleep and laundry.
Thank you all for a great trip....

Hey Joanna! Welcome home! I have been waiting to hear from you & Lyn & Dori & Jill (and J & T who are still on board of course) to make sure everyone got home safely!

Jill & pattiteach - How could we have been on a 10 night cruise, and I never got to meet you??? Sorry about that :( We were such a large group I guess it was bound to happen to some of us. After 10 nights I bet we saw each other through we just didn't know it.

BTW - I travelled home with 50 lbs of my 100 lbs of liquor!!!!LOL

Doreen - What a blast we had! I hope we didn't shock everyone with our REAS towel swans. Me & John talked about it all throughout our Rasul Surial Bath :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: Did you hear us talking about the pictures over the spa's loud speaker?LOL. Also, did Karen get home safely. She was a lot of fun also, as was Ginny's sis & family! Good times......

updates:

I spoke with Jason and Travis several times throughout the cruise. They were staying on. The shortened cruise was supposed to go to Key West and Cozumel. And yes, they were given 40% off of that cruise price, a $200 onboard credit and 25% off their next cruise.

The people on the Wonder -- who were stranded for five days instead of three, were given a $300 onboard credit and 25% off their next cruise!

We weren't even given a credit for all the ship to shore calls and internet fees! Oh, well -- I'm sure letters will be written.

Mary Anne
09-09-2004, 01:01 PM
when were the people on the wonder told about their credit and % off their next cruise before they left the ship? Just wondering.

Exactly how soon do they have to take the next cruise to get these "perks"

Personally, I don't care to step on any ship for awhile but....

Hi Everyone,

We got home last night around 9:00pm. We were supposed to take the Amtrak Auto Train from Sanford to Lorton, VA but the trains weren't running so we drove. Stopped in South Carolina on Tuesday night for 5 hours sleep and drove the rest of the way on Wednesday.

It was so nice to meet everyone. Bobby, thanks so much for the magnets - they were great!

Bobby and Patti, I will send you the pictures Mike took in the Atrium when they are developed.

Kathy, how was the trip back to Brooklyn?

It was a great cruise - glad everyone got home safe!

On our way to our complimentary room at Port Orleans on Tuesday, we rode with a family who had just gotten off the Wonder. They were told about their onboard credit right away because they knew they couldn't do Castaway Cay, and later were told about the percentage off for a future cruise.

Also, BOBBY, Thank you so much for making those great door decorations. Your daughter was really sweet to come by and put them up and introduce herself. However, like many others, by the second night some of them were gone! They took the one of Mickey Mouse and one other, so we took the rest off and saved them. What a shame!

All our magnets survived hanging on our cabin door for the entire 10 nights. I did check everytime we came back to the cabin, half expecting to see one or more gone. So sorry some of you were visited by the magnet monger. Bobby did such a great job with all of them. I loved walking around and coming upon a DIS magnet. Made me feel connected.

I also did not get to meet everyone. Jill and my DH had a nice chat while in line for customs in Glaveston. The lady behind us must of thought we were nuts when we realized we were both from the board and started talking a foreign language. At least that is what her face looked like. How can you be standing in line with a bunch of strangers and all the sudden start talking to someone like they are a long lost buddy? She actually moved away from us, I think.

Glad to see more people making it home. Feeling better, Joanna? Mary Rose, you are so sweet. Hope Lyn makes it home today, safe and sound. Spoke with Travis and Jason quite a few times onboard. Hope they are having a great second (1/3) part to their trip. I wonder if the credit and discounts feel worth it to the people who lost time?

Need some help on the main threads..

I posted that we were on the First 10 night Cruise..and now I getting all this crap..

Here is what was posted and then my response..

Sorry to burst your bubbles....but spending the night in port in Galveston is not exactly cruising.

I agree with disaddiction828........

And somehow I get the feeling that the title of your thread was a deliberate attempt to upstage the cruisers going at Christmastime.
I seriously doubt that they are jealous.

maybe you have no time on your hands..But what we went through on our cruise..Not knowing when we would get home, how our cars were, was a bit hectic..I understand that our cars and way home in now way is as important as the people in the storms path..But give me a break...

I am not trying to upstage anyone..this is what I was told by the ships crew..maybe its you and the other person that are jealous..

All I stated on this thread was that it was DCL's First 10 night cruise...

Maybe Galveston texas isnt exatly cruising..but When the Sun Sets and then Rises the next morning, dosent that constitute a Night?..Just Curious..

and by the way...We arrived in galveston at 7:30 am and departed at 2:00Pm...So you tell me...Where does that night fall into place?..Again Just curious?...

Like I said..maybe its you who are jealous..

Thanks for your comments

If they look at my signature, they'll see that I have "Disney Magic's First Ever 10-night Western Caribbean Cruise Aug. '04" in it, whether anyone likes it or not!

We had no choice in the matter, but the August 28th cruisers are indeed the FIRST cruisers to ever be on a 10-night Disney cruise! I haven't gotten to that thread yet, I just got in, but I'll go check it out now.

Bobby, anyone that knows you, know what a big heart you have and that you'd never say something just to irritate someone else. It's "sour grapes" on their part.

Hi All! :wave2: Bobby, Don't worry about it...we know we were on the first 10 night cruise, planned or not. Sometimes I don't post responses because I'm afraid they'll be taken out of context. How I say something in person & how it comes across when I'm typing can be 2 different things, so sometimes I find it's just better to ignore, people sometimes forget we can't give inflection when online. :p Ellen, glad to see you & your family made it home ok & my DD liked Alex, I'm hoping they stay in touch. MaryRose: Don't forget to say "hi" to Eileen for me, you two must be a blast together, maybe someday we can all get together, BTW, how is her mom doing? It is so nice to finally be able to put faces to the names..I'm sorry I missed some of you, but those I did meet were wonderful. Doreen: Will make sure to get some Amaretto mudslide, thanks for the drinks! Well, I'm at work now, so I guess I better get to it! Talk to you all soon! Kathy :wave2:

Hi Everyone:

Here it is 11:39 PM on Thursday and we finally made it home.

Glad to hear everyone made it home safely.

I was so glad to meet everyone, we made a lot of great friends.
Everywhere we turned there was someone there that I knew from these web pages it was a great feeling.
On other cruises we met with people from the DIS at the original meet on board and didn't see them again. This time everyone felt like extended family.

We met up with a lot of our fellow cruisers at Port Orleans Riverside, but most went home on Wednesday we couldn't get out until today at 4:40 PM.

It was a mess getting off the boat going to Port Canveral and waiting 2 hours for a Disney Rep at the airport to tell us which hotel to go to. That could have been handled a little bit better. But all in all DCL did a great job.

Well got a whole lot of laundry and school stuff to complete tonight. I'll check back tomorrow.

Disney bused us to the airport & we flew Delta to Atlanta & then on to Philly. We were home by 10 pm

I enjoyed meeting everyone.

Bobby our magnets are probably running around the ship with the invisible Mickeys. The most Important magnet from THE FIRST 10 DAY CRUISE was the green mickey & I will treasure that forever.

Mary Rose - I think we met & didn't know it

Eileen wanted me to tell you again how highly she thought of your Mom and that's she's sorry. She was also asking about your kids & said they're great and so is you DH! Send them her regards and mine also!

Jill - I looked for you all week. On one of the last days I said to Cindy & Bobby "I don't think I've met Jill yet" they told me that you guys had kamikazes. Darn I sure am sorry I missed those!

Hope we will all keep in touch!

Jill - we had such a nice time chatting with you. Your Grandaughter was so nice to keep Sandy entertained. We saw her later onboard and had some more fun.

Bobby - I posted on the other thread. Sometimes we all get misunderstood, but I think there may be a few sour grapes on that posters part. But, then again, maybe we are misunderstanding him. LOL. Anyone who has met you knows how sweet and full of fun you are. Don't let it bother you.

Hi everyone!

Glad to hear everyone has been getting home safely! It was so nice to meet all of you (I know we missed meeting some of you but maybe next time??? ;) ) We all had quite a little adventure together, huh???

Well just wanted to update everyone on the situation here due to Ivan. My mother lives in Charlotte County and due to the devestation there from Charley they are going to start evacuating them . So we are going to leave with her and my sister by tomorrow morning. So I will be MIA for a while and will return home (hopefully) right after the storm passes. So I have tons of packing to do (WAIT!!! Didn't I just unpack????) and have to clean up things around here in case of flooding, etc. We'll be boarding up the house tonight as soon as Adam gets home. I will post when we return as long as we have power.

Having to deal with this all over again and reading the whining people on the regular board about their compensation for their cruise and whose cruise was longest and all really puts things into perspective for you on how some people are. Glad not to be one of them! :) Would love to have that as the least of my problems right now. I have no job for awhile due to Charley and Adam will not be paid for any time missed due to the storms so if I was only concerned about my shipboard credit I would be so happy right now!!!!!!!

Ok, sorry to "whine" about that!!!! Going now. Will try to check back later with all of you before we leave! If not, those of you in areas that Ivan will affect - BE SAFE!!!

Devin & I are home in one piece. I'm glad that everyone else seems to have made it home as well.

When we got to the Orlando Airport around 1 PM, I found out that we hadn't been booked on another flight. Fortunately, we were able to get one out later the same day. We had to fly via Detroit this time. Boy, that Detroit to Seattle flight was a long one (4.5 hours). By the time we got our luggage and caught the shuttle home (we live about an hour from the airport), it was well after midnight (early Wednesday morning) before we got home.

Our cats and dogs were thrilled to have us home. Every time I rolled over in bed that first night, my cat thought that I was awake and should give her some more affection and attention. (What a pain!) She was much better last night. She's determined to keep me from running off again. After I unloaded the suitcase on Wednesday, she spent the rest of the day sleeping on top it, so that I couldn't pack it again.

Devin was thrilled to have another day off of school (I wasn't going to sent him to school on only 4 hours of sleep). However, we did stop by after school in the afternoon and pick up some of his homework. So, he wasn't totally behind when he got back to classes yesterday.

I spent yesterday working through all of my emails at work and trying to get caught up on the changes that took place to the project while I was gone. It's almost enough to drive me to book another cruise! At least the weekend is nearly here, but I'm going to be very busy harvesting walnuts. The nuts were just starting to ripen when I left for the cruise. So, I have to hustle to get as many as I can before the squirrels and birds make off with them.

I am definitely addicted to cruising now! I'm going to have to go again sometime.

Bobby - The pictures turned out wonderful. I have to admit that I'm somewhat jealous. I got a only a few really good pictures of the shows, so many of mine were blurry because the action was too fast or too dark for my camera to handle. You got so many more good shots of the shows than I did.

And I just got some great news - My manager is going to let me charge Tuesday and Wednesday against "excused absence" rather than having to use more of my vacation time to cover being delayed by an 'act of God'. YEA!!!! Now I won't have to shorten my Christmas vacation!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Happy birthday, Ginny - 40 isn't too bad!

I'm really upset because at work, the secretary charged me for two personal days. Now I only get three a year and had one saved from last year so I only have two for the rest of the year! I was hoping to just take two unpaid days, which is practically pennies for this job.

HI all - yes its true - Im the big 40 today. DH took me out to a great dinner at our favorite restaurant and of course bought me my diamond earings while on the cruise.

Lynr - I also have access america and they told me that I needed something official from disney stating that they extneded the cruise due to a hurricane.. DId they tell you that too. I have emailed DCL asking for a letter stating that and havent heard back yet.

My company was great about the 2 extra days.. they are letting me charge personal business since I had no control over the delay. This way I can still keep my remianing vacation days for my next trip to FL in either Nov or Jan.

What sort of expenses do they cover? I had no idea that trip insurance would cover anything like that. I probably should give them a call. lol

Just a side note -- off the hurricane topic....

Did anyone beside my family have trouble with rampant uncontrolled and unsupervised kids this time? More than usual. Now this is BEFORE we had the extra three days -- but we kept running into 8, 9 and 10 year olds at all hours of the night running up and down hallways, pushing all the elevator buttons, screaming, etc. Did their parents figure hey, it's Disney, they're safe -- I'm on vacation, let them go? That way everyone else can become their virtual babysitters?

This was our third cruise but we've never had so much trouble with ill-mannered, rude, pushy and wild kids. Several times we ran into groups of teenagers blocking halls, stairways and doorways and when we said excuse me, they looked at us like we could drop dead (strength in numbers). It was disgraceful. I know several families called security a few times because of the noise factor and the group mentality.

The worst was the under 14-year-olds running around Beat Street after 9 p.m. It was ridiculous! And a CM's response -- "Well, we can't have someone there to keep them out". Why Not? I'm sure they could spare one CM to stand at the entrance of Beat Street after 9 p.m. and keep kids out.

They were all over the ship this time and I've never seen it that bad. They were in the hot tub and ran into the adult pool area continuously! Of course, always screaming. And, of course, they are going to kill the free soda for everyone. They were up there at 11 p.m. most nights just filling cups and throwing them and ice all over the deck. It was unbelievable. Again, where were their parents????

We couldn't even enjoy the movie theater this time because there was no control. Would it be too much to station a CM at the back of theater? There were actually kids running up on the stage and performing in front of the screen when we went to see Pirates. Several families got up and left!

We all paid the same money -- some of us more than others. But I certainly wouldn't think of letting my kids run loose on the ship at all hours of the night and impede on other people's vacations.

I feel that Disney really needs to curtail this and have some sort of curfew or rules for the parents. If the parents aren't told from the beginning that they will be responsible for their childrens' behavior, then they are never going to give a darn.

Just my two cents. Had to vent....

Two things -- did you hear anything about your sandals yet?
Also, we thought it was really nice of your daughter to get off the bus and help that gentleman open that bottle! Watching him beat it on the guard rail was a bit scary.

oh, one other major thing -- didn't you think that agent OVERREACTED to your Disney Magic statement at the rest stop? Oh my gosh -- to actually threaten to detain us for 6 hours and search every piece of luggage? I know they were tired and stressed, but a bunch of us thought he really went over the top!

We have video of the Wonder approaching and docking behind us! DH is downloading the video onto his computer and is going to make DVDs of it. He can probably also email just that part of our videos, too. We've been running around all day and just got back. I *still* have not finished unpacking, but at least the suitcases are all emptied and put back in the attic. Now I have to actually put all of the contents of them away. lol I do have my priorities though; I just put some of our professional pictures from the cruise into the frames we bought on the ship, and I put the autographed model of the ship and the bobble-head Steamboat Willie that I bought, on my desk :teeth: The laundry can wait till later ;)

Invaderzim: I guess it's amazing how people can be on the same ship and have totally different experiences. I guess it depends on where you are, at any given time. We hardly saw kids during the entire cruise. Or should I say, we hardly ever saw kids who were misbehaving. Ours are teens and so we spent a lot of our time at the adult pool, went to the 6:30pm shows, and 8:30pm dinner. We saw a couple of movies, but they were the late showings, around 11pm or so. We never had a problem with kids of any age. Thats a shame about those kids you encountered, it would've bothered me too, if I saw kids being disrepectful and throwing things overboard!

P.S. Doreen, during one of the sail away parties (it might've been the first one, when we were leaving Port Canaveral), you and your kids were next to us up on the 10th deck and we caught some video of the 3 of you dancing together to the Macarena, and you all were wearing lime green! :teeth:

Invaderzim, I had the same opinion regarding kids running wild. This was my 4th cruise and the worst as far as kids running wild goes. I have never experienced that on the other 3. That was my one negative comment I put on my comment card that I dropped off at Guest Services. We were actually sitting on Deck 4 one night and clothes were being thrown off Deck 9. We called guest services and they sent someone up there to check it out.
And one night I heard them all running back and forth on Deck 3. Over and Over! Again, I have never heard anything when I have slept and I get the same room each time. I also agree with the soda situation. Out of control! That nice amenity will not last very long. I think I would rather buy my soda card for $35-38. I sometimes just bypassed it because the lines were out of control, and kids stomping on the cups that had fell on the floor. Personally, if my kid dropped cups on the floor, she would be picking them up if I was there and putting them in the trash.

Other than those 2 issues, I had a great trip.

Hey Mary Rose! We just got an invitation to a party in NJ for the end of October. While we're in NJ, maybe DH and I, and you and your DH, could get together. The party is in Toms River, but we'll be staying at my dad's house, in Sayreville :)

BOBBY: Wow, thanks for all your work so far. The pictures are terrific. I must ask, what time did you get to the port to get that picture in front of the cruise entrance with no one in line?

SeaSpray: We also had 6:30 show, 8:30 dining and tried to do a couple of 10:15 movies. They were the bad experience. We did get one 11 p.m. movie in without too much trouble and a 10 a.m. movie in. As for the teens, my daughter is 17 and tried to experience the new teen club -- but said it was miserable. She said the kids, again, were out of control and the couple of times she went there to draw, a couple of 14-year-old girls kept trying to bump the table so she would mess up. She finally packed up her stuff and left and never went back. She was disappointed, but made use of our verandah instead.

I partly blame DCL because I think they can definitely have better supervision. Children under 14 should not be roaming the ship after 11 p.m. without supervision! But I blame the parents more for not teaching their children respect and taking the responsibility to know where they are and what they are up to. My daughter had a curfew (even at her age) and if something was going on that she wanted to go to after her allotted time, she just had to ask and let us know where it was and when it was over. We left notes at all times to each other in the cabin as to when we'd be back and where to meet up.

It got so bad by day 5 that my husband and I were having serious doubts about even going through with next year's August Repo Cruise because we assumed it was a summer thing. We always cruise in November -- this was our first summer cruise. So we figure maybe it's an end of the summer high energy behavior that we've never seen before.

DARWIN Just curious, what months were your other three cruises?

I'm really sorry that there were so many kids who were out of control and that they interfered with you having a good experience. I know I'd be upset too, if I saw the things you described.
My older son, 16, went to the Stack a few times, mostly he and my 13 yr old son played chess together. I know he also did the scavenger hunt one of the days, and did the Gotcha game. My 13 yr old son, on the otherhand, didn't enjoy the Stack at all. He said it was mostly older teens in there, so he ended up making a few friends whom he played air hockey with, and just spent time with.
I agree that some parents don't teach their children respect for others, and for themselves, and then the kids are out of control when left on their own.

Invaderzim - As far as the kids on board go I have to agree with you. Now let me preface my saying that I hope my kids were well behaved but I do know that kids will be kids. In fact, my son John (11) went by himself to the sports deck and we got our meet-up plans crossed. I heard from many people of him running around the ship looking for us (sorry if he bothered any of you). He even went to our table 12 during the early seating looking for us and asking our servers where we were. So I know my kids can be a pain too. However, I saw alot of things this cruise that I did not like. Kids pushing all of the elevator buttons and other kids making prank phone calls to stateroom from hallway phones. I got a few of those late night calls myself. I think parents could have been more on top of this but then that's a pet peeve of mine anyway. I going to chalk these incidences up to parents believing their kids were in the clubs when in fact they had signed themselves out. If DCL security would alert parents when their children acted up I'm sure alot of parents would have nipped it in the bud.

Mary Rose:

It's the weekend of October 23rd. Not sure which night we'll be driving down, probably on Friday, Oct. 22, but we'll probably get to Sayreville pretty late. The party is on Saturday night, the 23rd, then we'll probably head out back to MA on Sunday. Would you be interested in meeting for breakfast on either Saturday morning (if we drive down Friday), or Sunday morning?? Do you know where the Peter Pank Diner, on Rt. 9 is?? I wish we'd have more time in NJ but DH used a lot of his vacation days for the extra time we were on the cruise, and now he has to start saving vacation time again for our cruise next June. Let me know what you think! And when I know for sure what day we're driving down, maybe we can plan something! I really would love to see you and DH again! :)

Interesting observation about the teens;\

My 13 year old did very little in the Stack. He too said it was a lot of older kids. I really think they need to seperate the older and younger teens. He spent most of his time shooting hoops or with us.

My 16 year old did spend a lot of time there, but most of it was spent sitting on a stool watching World Cup Hockey and talking Hockey to the CM's in charge. Speaking of the CM's he said two of them were on their last cruise and when it was announced the cruise was going to be longer then normal, they opted out and spent the last 3 days sitting by the pool and in the hot tub so there were only 2 CM's for that group. My son, also wasn't too happy with a lot of the group of teens. To use his words, "Mom, I'm just not hanging with them, they smoke and drink" I think the drinking was when we were in Costa Maya and you can drink at 16 there. My son cannot stand to be even near a smoker, he gets physically ill. He did say he spent most of his time talking to two girls who were quiet and nice.

We didn't see a lot of the kids running around but then again, we kept different hours then many, we were up early and retired after dinner most nights. By 10 pm or so we were in bed. Good it's sad to be old LOL That is until the last night or so when we were up late, and my DH said he couldn't believe the younger kids running all over the place. We found the exact same situation 4 years ago. They really need to do something about it.

Mary Anne: I wonder if our 16 yr olds ever met at the Stack? He gets sick from smoke, too, and can't stand to be around it. I think my 13 yr old son would've enjoyed it more if they were separate from the older teens. While they weren't totally thrilled with the cruise (neither really "loved" it), they made the best of it and said they'd like to cruise again. They liked the cruise itself, but they would've enjoyed it better if they had friends onboard.

Terry, my oldest loves to cruise but he said he would prefer the next one not to be Disney. He said there is nothing for him to do and there were just too many young kids on it.

To be honest and please don't take what I'm going to say wrong, it's Disney, it's going to be kids, lots of them, some good, some bad and while my DH and I love kids we're not doing Disney again either for that purpose. My kids are older and we want to spend more time together on cruises in quiet places enjoying stuff. Our best meal was up in Topsiders for dinner one night, we were pretty much alone, it was quiet we could enjoy it as a family and we had no kids being pains next to us. (We had a table in the dinning room next to us with three kids who were under the table pulling stuff the entire week. I wanted to bop the parents!)

We also discovered that we enjoyed eating when we wanted and by eating at Topsiders we could eat at 6 or 6:30 or 7 or 7:30. We had looked into ships that had freestyle dinning and didn't think we'd like it but after last week are really looking more at ships that have that kind of eating schedule.

Mary Anne: Just tonight my DH was saying that it'll be much nicer cruising as a family once the boys are 18 and we can do things together in the evenings. For example, I know they would've loved the 60's night, with the Charles Marshall band imitating the Beatles. :) But I totally understand that they want those clubs to be 18+ at night.

I only saw the kids acting loudly once, when they were all packed in an elevator and got off on deck 5. I saw them holding cigarettes on Deck 5 by the theater, but they weren't lit and they weren't loud. So I guess I have to say I really didn't see any unruly kids either. I guess it was where you were.

I do agree that I think it must be a summer thing, as our last cruise was in May and not many teens and Carol your cruise you did was the very end of August into the first week in September, when Labor day was early so you were cruising the first day of school. I remember that, because I didn't cruise with you for that very reason.

Joanna, I believe our Western Inaugural was a pretty full ship. I remember at the kids show on that cruise the Head of the childrens activities saying there was more than 900 kids on that ship. Now on this trip it was a select group of rowdy ones that I saw regularly. I am sure there were teens on that cruise too - just not as rowdy. Right in the middle of the day while standing on line at guest services a few of them were hanging out in the lobby burping and grabbing themselves. Pathetic

My 13 year old hated the stack from the first day(he complanied
about the filthy mouths, smoking etc...) He ended spending most of the time by himself either drawing or at the movies or hanging out with us. MY 10 yo and 7 yo went to the kids clubs and loved them.

We did experience a problem at the Goofy Pool though. We took the younger ones there to swim and stayed with them(adult supervision required!) There were several 11/12 yo boys pushing and shoving at the pool, they were totally out of control! They threw a young girl into the pool and she hit her head...my DH fished her out and I went to get a CM.....we stayed away from the pool after that!

It's a shame that they allowed ANY kids to smoke in the Stack, I can't believe it, and I think it's a disgrace. I wish we had gotten our 13 yr olds together, Pauline. And I can't believe the behaviour of some of the teens that many of you are describing!! I am sorry this happened and that a lot of you had to deal with it. We never went to the Goofy pool, neither of my DSs wanted to swim there. In fact, the only swimming they did was on Castaway Cay on the first day. I guess we were fortunate that we never encountered any of these problems, but I hate hearing about them anyway. :(

Ouch Darwin...Burping and grabbing themselves, DISGUSTING!

As far as the clubs go, my DD8 did NOT enjoy the club, she mostly either hung out with us or went to the arcade, she LOVED the arcade which was OK for us. She is not a sit down and watch a movie kid at 9 at night when on vacation, I guess sort of like we are, as I am not a "watch a movie" person either.

As I said, my daughter is 17 and ended up going to the adult clubs at night with us (she'll be 18 in a couple of months anyway). She really had a good time. She watched her dad and I dance and enjoyed the comics. She's already said that next year for the two-week cruise she's just looking forward to hanging with us. She did enjoy sitting in the porthole windows during the day near Rockin D Bar and drawing. That was her favorite thing this cruise. She's actually kind of glad she's outgrown the teen club. She always has high expectations that it will be better each time, but then is always disappointed by the lack of supervision and activities. In fact, they were supposed to have several art activities this time, then cancelled them!

I am trying to get everyone I talk to to write letters to DCL about the out of control kids. I don't care that it is a Disney cruise and kids are expected, there is NO excuse for the lack of security to keep the kids from doing some of the harmful things they did. We even had magnets stolen off our door. Someone said they saw kids on deck 9 throwing clothes overboard and we saw kids throwing trash into the ocean!

Also, our tablemates said they ran into teens smoking INSIDE the ship (hallway outside theater for one) several times. I guess all you can do is call security if things get really bad.

My husband said one night he saw two young kids running down the stairs and stopping on every single floor to push the up and down buttons on the elevators. No wonder we could never get an elevator. I don't think that DCL should allow 14 and under to sign themselves out unless they have the parents sign something saying they will be directly responsible for their behavior. I would have gladly signed something like that for our past cruises if it would have curtailed some of this other behavior.

Ok where do I begin, you know me and my mouth!! Ok on the BUS! we had to stop at PORT LUCIE. A lady on our bus had to go the the bathroom as soon as she got on board.. so the driver tried to get her to a rest stop soon.Well you know me being so quite and meek.. We got to PORT LUCIE and it was a zoo there. I guess the driver was told to stop by some "RENT A COP " type guy and didnt stop fast enough. Well this "GUY" got on our bus and yelled at the driver for not knowing what his "HAND GESTURE "meant. He said "hey buddy don't you know what this means, you have your commercial liscense. you should know it means stop!". Our driver was so apologtic and was sorry,,, but this guy kept it up to him.. I of couse had to speak,, I said," Hello we are from the Disney MAGIC, have a wonderful day!" He got on our bus and said WHAT DID YOU SAY? I said have a magical day. He said listen lady , do you want me to get a state Trooper over here and go through every single piece of luggage on this bus.. At his point my husband had to stop me..lol Then this "GUY" gave me the gesture to ZIP my mouth.. UGGGHHH!!!! I was steamed!!! First of all, that area is so devastated,, this is how he treats the guests to this area, imagine how he treated people that lived there.. I was not quilty of carrying anything illeagel,, was he??

She told me a group of girls she first met,, ( and quickly ditched) smoked, and they were 14-15 yrs old. and from BOSTON area.( SORRY TERRY..lol). She made new friends fast. She did do the stack and every time I needed her,, I called the STACK and ask for them to send her to my room and within 3 min I think she was there. She mostly hug with a 2 other girls, just like her( is that a good thing). I saw them on deck in the sun,, and we did dinners and shows together as a family. I have an 11 yr old son that didnt really do the clubs that much. We had second seating and most of the planned evening activities were at 830. He hung with me and my sister most of the time. I never heard of the trash or cloths overboard,, and my daughter was in the room after the STACK closed. She met a few DISers kids,, Terry: she said your son Craig was riot doing KAREOKE LYNN she met your son many times(and helped). She did STACK activites.. and did have fun. She is a good kid and no smoking or swearing from her either.

I liked DISNEY over Carnival,,, and will book again. We were on deck 6. No problems there that I knew of,, and many of us did go home with our magnets.

OMG Doreen, I just had to call Craig down here and ask him about the karaoke!!! In a million years I never would've thought he'd do that!! LOL

We were right across from you in the hall on deck 6, as you know, and no one touched our lime green Mickeys, but someone did take my SIL & BIL's Mickey :( At least they had taken the rest of their magnets and put them on the inside of their cabin door on the first day, like we did. We did not want to risk them being stolen, especially after all the work Bobby and his family put into them!

I would definitely do another Disney cruise. As you know, we're booked on Royal Caribbean's Voyager for next June, but I'd like the next cruise after that to be on the Magic again!

We were just watching all the video we took, close to 6 hours! It really felt like we were back on the ship. Just think, a week ago we were still on the ship, at dinner right now :)

Doreen - Are you kicking up some trouble again LOL! I loved Lyn's pictures of you with the smoothie maker at our meet. They're hysterical. Anyway, on our bus, I was the one who desparately had to go to the bathroom and asked to stop at a rest stop. I had to go, I mean I really had to go. I had to go when we were lined up in the hallway on deck 1 for an hour and a half. We were going to stop in either Pt. Lucie or Ft. Pierce but they were both sooooo overcrowded! So I can imagine tempers were flaring. Anyway, by the time we reached these rest stops I had to go for more than 3 hours and I was getting desparate. When we approached the rest stops and everyone saw the lines they yelled for the driver to keep going. Do you know what I would have said to the Rent-A-Cop, I would have said pssssss which would have been the sound of me going on his foot!!! LOL! Sounds like he considered himself "very important"

BTW - It turns out our bus had a restroom in the back all along duh, I think that 50 lbs of booze I drank killed more than a couple of brain cells.

How are your cold sores and how are your feet without your sandals?

Is there any chance that someone might know who this family was. There was a young man onboard with his mother. They never left each other's side. They were tall, both blonde and went everywhere together. He kind of looked like a young Leonardo DiCaprio. We think they may have had a stateroom on Deck 6. We found them very interesting. We tried to say hi a couple of times, but they wouldn't look anyone in the eye or speak to anyone. But he seemed extremely protective of his mother. Just wondering if anyone might know them. My daughter really wanted to strike up a conversation with him, but could never really get him alone.

Well, as far as bad behavior goes, I can't say much because my kids, 10, 12 and 13, had run of the ship. We kept a note book log of where everyone was and they were in and out of the kids club. We did see our youngest a lot around the ship and several people told me they saw our oldest and he was behaving. If they were misbehaving, I hope a crewmember said something to them. I trust them a lot and know they are good kids, so any misbehavior on their part was due to excitement.

My 13 year old said he did know kids who went to Diversions to smoke. The last night I did see a bunch of teens running around the lobby and was mortified to see that my oldest was one of them! It was midnight and I had come looking for him, since we had to be up early the next morning. There were so many other kids out and about.

I was sort of disappointed that our kids didn't want to do much together as a family. My husband was happy to let them do their own thing. One rule was that we had dinner together but they would finish early and run off. I'm glad they made friends and had a great time on their own though. Besides Grand Cayman, my two younger ones didn't get off at any port - they were on the ship for a week without getting off.

There are going to be misbehaving kids EVERYWHERE. I'm sure that kids push the elevators buttons on every cruise ship out there. I will tell kids to 'cut it out' if I don't like their behavior.

YES! I think I know who are you talking about! They both had VERY blonde, thick hair, hers was rather long. He looked like a teenager, maybe older teen. I think they looked Swedish or something! I wonder if they spoke English. Often I saw them wearing clothes that looked not to be "American" in style. Nothing bad, just not the usual style of clothing we are used to seeing. I thought they looked interesting too!!

Hi Guys!!!!!!!

Whew...did we luck out when Ivan decided to head more west! Not that I wish it on anyone! but I am happy not to have to deal with it here. We ran away to New Orleans for the weekend and just returned this evening. Read the posts, looked at the pics and reports! They look great everyone! I am hoping to finish the rest of my report by the weekend and get my pics together!

Did also notice the "rowdy" children around the ship. None of yours!!! :) But yes we also witnessed the rude and unruly teens and preteens roaming and reeking (sp?) havoc. I was surprised as many a CM was present for their behavior and didn't see much done about it. But they were probably concerned with upsetting their parents maybe??? From what I have heard complaints against CMs are answered harshly.

Hope everyone is doing good! Have to go unpack and do some more laundry from our little mini trip!!!

Taking the cruise I knew I was miss three days of teacher meetings, but with the added I missed 2 the first two days with my class. I teach special education and to miss those days was hard, to catch-up is crazy right now. Smoothie Maker Night how did I miss that one? Also I agree with the kids situation, WHERE ARE THEIR PARENTS?????? I know that you guys are like me my kids are with me 24-7. I know where they and what they are doing at all times. How does someone else let that happen? We had all our magnets stolen, I reported it and they basically said, "Sorry".

Hi Doreen - Yes we are going back next month. Why do you think I saved 50 lbs of booze LOL! "So O'Brien family, you've travelled to Florida during Hurricane Frances to sail on The Disney Magic. You skipped Key West, stopped in Costa Maya, stopped in Galveston, disembarked at a port three hours from your car after staying on board three days longer than was scheduled, and finally drove all the was up the East Coast during tornado warnings. So what are you gonna do now? I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! LOL! My DD is dancing in front of Cinderella's Castle with her dancing school so we are driving again during Jersey week. Gotta love my DH, he's quite a trooper. I can't even think about it now! Anyway, DH put our photos on CD now I have to figure out how to put them on Bobby's site.

I definitely will not be able to travel the last week of August anymore due to my job changing. The second week or 3rd is more favorable to me and then allows me not to stress if I am stuck at sea. I just read all these letters from people that were on the Magic or other ships stuck at sea the same week via www.vacationstogo.com and it was interesting to hear their stories. Some of these ships gave them free internet service so they can make their arrangements and also a 50 % discount to travel the same time next year.

Hi All - I would also be up for an August 2006 reunion cruise. I too would prefer an eastern itinerary since I have been on the western 3 times now.

Im so pissed... DH downloaded an update to Windows XP last night and it crashed my hard drive... and you guessed it.. he had already downloaded all 193 pictures from our trip to the computer and didnt back up the computer before downloading the new software. Im hoping that we can take it somewhere and they can maybe salvage some of the pictures.

Good Morning all!

Ginny so sorry to hear about your pics and computer!!! I will email the DH at work (deals with computer recovery there alot) and see if he has any ideas for you to retrieve them. Hopefully he will answer me back quickly.

We are looking to book a 2006 Eastern with the boys as well but we are thinking of being bad and taking them for either Halloween or around Christmas time to make it even more special. Even if they miss some school. That will make them good ages to go 9, 5, and 3. Perfect CLUB ages!!!! ;)

Ginny: I'm so sorry about your pictures. I hope someone can retrieve them from your harddrive :(

Melanie: I'm glad that Ivan won't be visiting your area! I think your kids will be perfect ages for the clubs, and for taking out of school. In May 2001 we took our boys out of school to go to Disney World. They were 13 and 10 and they didn't miss much work at all. But now that they are 16 and 13, (a junior in high school and in 8th grade), I don't think we can reasonably take them out during school anymore. They are both honor roll students, and I'm not concerned with them missing the class time, but it's all the paperwork (class assignments, homework, projects, etc) that is hard for the kids to make up once they get back home. In the lower grades a lot of time the teachers don't make them do all of the work they missed. In fact, my younger son only had to make up the tests, not the other work. Until my sons are out of school, (then again, it'll be a LONG time since they'll go to college after high school), it'll be summer vacations for us from now on. Enjoy taking the kids out of school when they're young! :)

SEASPRAY:

I know what you mean. We took our daughter out of school every year through junior high in November. But once she entered High School, it became very difficult.

The irony is, this is the first time we have ever taken our cruise in the summer months -- and we only did it so she wouldn't miss school. And she missed the first two days anyway! However, we're grateful that the absence officer has agreed to mark those absences as excused.

We are really looking forward to planning a cruise in May for a change. How was it when you went in May? Are there a lot of kids -- and are the waters at CC warm?

Also, your pictures are GREAT.

Thanks,
Cathy
