Bobby, I am laughing so hard right now.

You know I think WE may be the group that people point to and talk about on this cruise. Yeah, they'll all be saying, "find out when they cruise again, we want to be part of them"

I love the theme song... I am ROFLMAO at all these posts... and as far as going back to a Disers room... lets all remember that this is a disney cruise and I think that somewhere in that Cruise Contract it prohibits wife swapping

Mary Anne - lets hope thats all the people are saying while they are pointing at us.. Can you imagine if there a bunch of drunk adults with leis and name tags and kids are leading them to their rooms.... I dont think I want my kids to hear what other people would be saying about their mommy - LOL

OK, I spend a day away from the boards and you guys have me speed reading to catch up! I can't keep up with who is where and what they are bringing and on who's stoop we are playing next game!

We were called with an upgrade today, all the way from cat 8 to 5. My DH was telling me on my cell while I was driving home and my DD kept saying, "What are you so excited about, Mommy?" Too awesome to get a verandah handed to us. I'm already having my morning coffee on the verandah, watching and listening to the sea float by, feeling the morning sun on my face...

We will be in cabin 7056. Have to PM Bobby. Hope he didn't print our magnet yet. How will the designated walkers know where to return me?

Make sure everyone has lime green on at all times and if I find you all laying around I'll deliver you back the best I can to your rooms.

Now with the magnets I know where the party people are.

See you all soon!!!!!

Hi everybody! It's me the other Ginny. :wave2:

I'm starting to get a mental picture of...
green mickey stickers on the floor, making a trail from the ice to the smoothie maker. Big huge pieces of posterboard with room numbers written in Sharpie...so that blurry eyes don't miss the room number. And kind-hearted children leading their parents to find food...perhaps those tot-leashes would work for this?

Speaking of booze...we usually take about a case of beer, a 12-pack of cokes, and sometimes I'll get some wine coolers or a bottle of wine. You can always supplement with the frothy drinks...but those get so darn expensive.

About two-hundred posts ago someone asked what items are not to be forgotten...well, here are some of mine.

- A highlighter (handy for highlighting activities on the Navigator).
- Either some spray room freshener or lysol (it's a week...at some point, somebody will have to have a BM).
- Some cough drops (a/c...no a/c....a/c....no a/c).
- Small bills (for shopping at the street markets)
- Post-its (great for leaving messages on the room door...or the mirror, inside the room).
- Laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and quarters.
- Koozies (especially if you're bringing your own beer).
- An emery board and whatever nail polish you've used on your toes and fingers...sand is heck on manicures and pedicures.

Cheers everybody!
Ginny D. (the other Ginny)

You know I went back tonight and read most of this thread from the beginning. It is better then a time capsule. I am going to print it out when I get back from the cruise and put it with my cruise stuff to keep. We've had happiness, sadness, sickness and too many laughs to count. Thankfully for the most part we're all here ready to start our actual journey. The first week that was counted that I could tell was 54. School started, school ended, we had a blizzard in December that we worried about those cruising that week-end and missing the cruise and yet again last week we had a hurricane with the same worries.

OMG! You people have me rolling on the floor with laughter!:rotfl: But try to keep it down, okay. Some of our fellow cruisers will have to be up early for their excursions. Unlike me, who didn't book any! ;) If DCL is anything like that new show Airline some of you may not be allowed to board the boat! You'll have to sober up, or be left at the dock! I can't imagine what next week is going to bring, but I know this is going to be one vacation I'm never gonna forget! Thanks all for making my night! Kathy :wave2:

Last night I was just telling DH that this Friday will be the VERY LAST "official weekly countdown" on our thread!!! So, this is the end?!?! That's a strange feeling.....I've been doing the weekly countdowns for over a year now. Our limo is picking us up at 9am next Friday morning....I will try and get online fast so I can type a final "Zero weeks to go" countdown, in case anyone is still home waiting to depart. (Who will still be here next Friday morning???)

You know, we *could* always keep this thread going once we've gotten back from the cruise!! :sunny:

Good Morning Friends!!

I had to go to bed a little early last night. Once my spelling starts to go I know I'm down a couple of quarts of sleep. When I read all the posts from last night I had tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard. I can just picture all of us in metallic clothes being pulled to the magnets of any DISers cabin!! Probably the funniest thing of all is that it sounds like none of us are really big drinkers and probably after two or three we'll be needing those DIS kids to escort us home LOL.

Needless to say, it's been great passing these past months with all of you. I feel like we are all very similar people which in a way is kinda ironic. All of you have such a great sense of humor too which will surely make our cruise great fun! So looking forward to it now. We leave a week from today,

Do we have a writer in our group (Mary Anne?) Because this sounds like it could be an awesome novel.... Strangers meet on a cruise forum, create a drunken, ruckus on board and wind up on stateroom arrest, and ultimately make friendships of a lifetime........

Sandy - Congrats on the upgrade WOO HOO!!

Mary Rose - very well said. I totally agree - it has been a pleasure talking with all of you - and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone onboard. As for lifelong friendships.. certainly a possibility. I met a girl from New Orleans on a parents place website for moms having babies in May 1998... we still talk online all the time and she has come to visit me several times.

Im down to 1 day and hours here... cant wait!!!

My husband had the nerve to bring home work last night so I missed the boards last night. But after reading all the posts I am over here LMAO! My DS age 6 keeps asking what is so funny!

I can see this now - druken DISers being led down halls to each door with a magnet and knocking... "is this my room??".... Maybe Bobby should give his master magnet list to the kids so they know which rooms we belong in. Should we tip the children as baggage handlers when they get us to the rooms???? LOL

I will be here still next Friday night. We don't leave for Port Canaveral until 5am Saturday morning! After this past weekend - I really need a vacation! Getting very anxious. Hopefully this weekend most of the stores around here will be back to normal so I can finish up the cruise shopping I need to do. Otherwise I may be driving to Tampa to shop!

Still completely lost about T and J so can someone PLEASE enlighten me????

We will be leaving Thursday, sometime in the am, but Bobby is such a computer junkie Im sure he will be plugging in somewhere along the way. We plan on getting to the Radisson early Friday morning. We will most probably stay by the pool and try to find everyone throughout the day. Don't be afraid of the big guy with the broad shoulders covered in tatoos. He's very friendly, doesn't bite, and has a heart of gold. Just picture him crying for his injured dog.

Can't wait to meet everyone

Hi DIS-zy friends!

Safe voyage and have a great time to all those leaving tomorrow! We'll keep the lights on here!

Okay, I've been pretty absent today because I did some serious packing and and think I have way (and I do mean way) too much luggage :o Here's what I have: 2 large suitcases, 1 smaller suitcase, 2 garment bags, 1 shoe bag, 1 toiletry bag, 1 carryon, and of course the tremendous bag of booze :bounce:

That is 9 bags - 9 bags is EXTREME! I've gone through the bags again and couldn't really eliminate much. We are a family of four. I have one of the big suitcases with other things in there such as make-up bag, books, mugs and stuff. My DH & DS are packed into the other big suitcase and my DD is packed in the small suitcase. We have so many dress clothes i.e. suits, shirts, dresses, dockers and such that we need two garment bags. The rest is shoes & toiletries, and booze.

Okay DIS Friends can you help me here? How many bags are all of you taking and if I'm taking too much can you help me consolidate? (without eliminating any of the booze of course LOL)

Please make me feel better or tell me I'm crazy. This is alot to lug around!

Thanks,
Mary Rose

We are also a family of 4 and I have 6 bags

1 large suitcase for parks clothes
1 large suitcase for cruise clothes
1 garment bag for dressy stuff
1 medium suitcase wth shoes
1 medium suitcase with all toiletries
1 cooler

I think I did pretty good considering we will be gone for 17 days.

lynr
08-19-2004, 09:10 PM
Since DCL has limited me to only two apiece I will be taking 6 and my carry on. I will probably have 3 garment bags, a shoe bag, a large suit case and a small case for souvineers.

I always pack too much! I am determined to cut back this year. If need be I will send clothes out to be cleaned.

Lyn:crazy:

P.S. You will now be able to find us in a crowd, my son came home today with a mowhawk that he dyed blonde. I begged him to please cut his hair before the cruise but he informs me that the girls will love it. I won't sweat it since it is only hair and can change from day to day!!!!

Mary Rose, what age are your children ,,, that makes a difference on what size the clothes are. What ever you do..DON'T LEAVE THE BOOZE BAG... take one less undie or top or shorts, but not the BOOZE>> We have to keep GINNY happy on board. After all we are celebrating 40...
Ok we have a family of 4 and we each have
one check in and maybe 2 carry ons as well as 2 garmet bags. I have the booze in a roll bag.. Did that mistake before and had to carry the booze home. BIG MISTAKE. this time its on wheels.

My kids are DD14 & DS 11. DD is a typical teenage girl which is why I gave her her own small suitcase. Heaven forbid her things should commingle with ours LOL!

I knew I had too much. I think if I rethink my suitcase I might be able to lose the carryon. Are any of you bringing mugs? Those four refillable Contemporary mugs take up alot of room. Do you suppose the sell similar type mugs in the gift shop because if they do I can lose them too.

And I am certainly not going to eliminate any booze NOT EVER!!

Joanna:

I am well aquainted with the tatoo. Did I mention that I also have a 24 year old who lives in California? He temporarily moved in with a tatoo artist and he now has them on his back and legs.

Matt my 17 year old who will be cruising with us got a tatoo last year after we can home from the cruise. He has a sun on his shoulder. Needless to say that I was not happy and it does last forever. My boys are good boys but I think they were put on this earth to torment their mother. But I love them anyway.

Oh and I forgot to mention that one year for "my" birthday my husband went and got a mickey mouse firefighter tatoo on his leg. Happy Birthday to me!!!!

Hi everyone! :wave2: I'm here! I worked today, then stopped at a friend's house on the way home, made dinner, then we had one of our meetings to go to this evening(religious meeting. We have 3 meetings a week!).

Anyway, here I am! :sunny:

I actually SCREAMED this afternoon and scared DH and DSs! LOL They were all in the kitchen and I was walking down the hallway and it hit me like a bolt of lightning: OUR VACATION STARTS A WEEK FROM TOMORROW!!!! :hyper: They thought I saw a spider or something. :p (I never scream at spiders, I squish them. lol)

I will post the "1 week to go!" countdown tomorrow morning. Next Friday morning I will post a "1 DAY to go" post, for those us who might still be around!

This Sunday night I am having a pre-cruise party here at my house. I already bought tropical decorations to decorate the familyroom with. First of all, I'll make all of us sit down and fill out and sign the documents. Then I'll put them away and we'll have some kind of tropical dinner. I have no idea what yet. lol Then I'm going to give DH and DSs a "DCL Trivia test", and I have Disney Dollars and some other "prizes" that they can win. I know this might sound corny, but I just thought it sounded like a fun way to start the vacation early! I wish some of you lived close, I'd invite you over too! (Anyone near Boston?? LOL)

As far as packing goes, this is what I'm planning (Haven't started packing yet): 2 large suitcases (1 for me, 1 for DH), 2 medium suitcases (1 for each DS), 2 wheeled carry-on sized suitcases in which I'll pack our cameras, medications, bathing suits, and anything else I think we might need for the night before, at the Radisson. I'm *hoping* to not have to open the 4 bigger suitcases until we get on the ship. I'm also hoping to squeeze our dress clothes into the suitcases, since I am planning on sending them ALL out to be pressed as soon as we get onto the ship, anyway. This weekend I'm going to start packing, just to see if I do have the room to do that.

That's it for now... I hope all who are traveling tomorrow or this weekend has a wonderful trip, great weather, and arrive safely!!! We'll see you at the Radisson, or on the ship!!!!
:wave2:

So funny that you're talking about packing. That is what I have spent a good part of this evening doing.

We travel light usually, 3 carry on's for the 4 of us. I have no problem doing wash when I'm in my DVC villa. however, with the dressy stuff, I am now thinking at a minumum 4 carry on's and one maybe two garment bags. Then there are the shoes and the other stuff, not to mention what we buy when we get to Flroida.

I am almost thinking we will have to check luggage on the plane. Haven't done that in at least 4 years (probably, the last cruise.)

DD14 & DS 11. DD is a typical teenage girl which is why I gave her her own small suitcase. Heaven forbid her things should commingle with ours LOL!

LOL , I have a 16 year old BOY like that.

My boys are upset that they have to 'share' suitcases - oh the horror. They could stay home too.

We're working on five suitcases - hoping to fit everything into these. Two carry ons and an 'on the road' bag. Plus the garmet bag. Too many shoes.

I'm not in the mood to pack. These last days are the worst. Too much to do, too much to think about.

Lyn - my son had his hair dyed blond the other day too but didn't get a short cut. It's suppose to be streaky blond but I think he looks like a calico cat. It's growing on me though.

Speaking of teen sons and haircuts, I gave DS16 a haircut the other day. Its a crew cut, but a short one. He loves it, but I think he looks like a skin head :( His hair grows fast, though. lol

My DH is basically bald, so I do give him a very short crew cut, but it looks fine on him. DS13 will be taken for a haircut next week, he likes it short, but not a short crew cut.

Thanks for replying everyone! It seems like I have a bit more luggage than most but I'm not too out of whack. I lost some stuff and eliminated one bag, so now I'm down to 8. I can't see as how I'm going to get it any lower than that.

Mary Anne - that's funny about you 16-year-old son. My 11-year-old son didn't want to share either but he's still young enough for me to "persuade".

Karel - I like your style. You're right, they could share a suitcase or they could stay home - Love that!

Joanna - Sorry your not in the mood. I hope whatever is bringing you down clears up ASAP. Please let us know if there is anything we can do :grouphug:

I haven't started packing at all yet, actually haven't even looked through the kids closets yet, BUT I will take them school shopping tomorrow, so they will then have plenty.

Starting to feel a little (maybe a lot LOL) overwhelmed. Work is insane, the thought of what I will come back to makes me think if going is worth it in the first place. (but it is)

Tomorrow is one week. :Pinkbounc

Anyone watching the news. They are talking about "AWOL" Alcohol WithOut Liquid You inhale through a machine for 20 minutes and then you get drunk. I really don't think It will be successful here, it makes its debut here tomorrow. I would rather taste what makes me tipsy rather than inhale it.

Hi All... here I sit at 6AM AT WORK.... I came in extra early today so I can leave by 11 to take the kids to the dentist, orthodontist and then get my nails and toes done and then drop the hampster off at my DD's friends who is babysitting.

Im down to almost hours here.. WOOO HOOO - it seems like so long ago that I booked this trip and now it is almost here.

Mary-Rose... I totally agree with Doreen... if you need to save space - take your undies out before you take booze out.... Make room for Booze at all costs!!!

Lynr - dont worry about the mohawk we dont care... Last year at my DD's first communion my then 7 year old nephew walks into church with a mohawk with blue Gel in it. Picture the scene... packed church, all the kids in their dresses & suits, all the parents all dressed up and this little boy (who is adorable) all dressed up walking down the aisle with a blue mohawk... Everyone is turning and pointing at him. At the time DH and I were mortified - especially when he sat in our row. I even had one of my friends at work who's daughter was also making her communion come up to me and say "SO I see mohawk boy is with you". Im glad now I can look back and laugh... its only hair and in the grand scheme of things doesnt mean anything.

Terry - Thanks for the "last" weekly countdown. I guess you maybe need to start a daily one!

Jill - You most certainly are one of the gang. You are bringing the kamikazes right? then you're most certainly a full-fledged, card-carrying, member of the "Booze Cruise"LOL. Also, are you using a Disney arranged flight? I ask because I believe they do everything humanly possible for you to make the boat and so then you wouldn't have to be concerned. If you booked your own air maybe you could move it up to an earlier flight if your at all concerned. I remember years ago DH and I sailed on the Big Red Boat. We had a 9 am same day flight and we made it to the boat fine..

Have a safe trip down to Florida and a great week before the cruises we will see you on board.

I totally agree about the hair. My husband is going crazy but I really don't care when it comes right down to it.

I hope you day flies by. Your schedule today is just like mine, ortho, dentist, finger nails, toe nails and hair. Tomorrow I am having a new heater installed so we haven't even gotten the suitcases down yet, maybe Sunday.

Here's my countdown: Only 4 MORE DAYS OF WORK!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Good Morning all!

Lots of cruise prepping and packing planned for today so probably will not be online much (hopefully anyway so I can get some things done!) Hoping to have the mess I have made in my bedroom straightened into organized packing piles and begin to pack the suitcases for next week. I have to finish preparing my packets of emergency info for my DSister and DSIL who will be taking care of our three little darlings! It is sad how much info needs to be left for all of those "Just in case" instances!

Also dreading the last minute cruise shopping we have to complete this weekend! Hopefully we will find everything we need easily since most stores here are pretty much back to normal after the hurricane. Thinking I can find a smoothie maker somewhere for decent price...either that or steal SIL's! ;)

Will try to check the boards again later! Otherwise - will "talk" to all of you tomorrow. :wave2:

If it makes you feel better I can have little Bobby gel his hair into a mohawk. He keeps it like that if he's in the pool or shower anyway, but I must insist he pass on the color!

My 3 kids all begged for their own suitcases on wheels and I gave in because they are all on wheels, and everyone can roll their own. I have the Daddy suitcase filled with just shoes, the Mommy suitcase filled with my clothes, another Mommy suitcase filled with Daddy and leftover Katie clothes, a few carryons, and a rather large garment bag, abag for our overnight stay on the road for thurs, a small suitcase for the raddisson filled with what we will wear to board on sat, which will be our booze carryon once we get dressed sar morn! I will probably have to pack one more bag for toiletries and meds, the dont seem to be fitting in any of my suitcases.....

I dont think its too much... The problem is I keep shopping and adding!

Almost all packed...so far 5 suitcases(one for each of us) and then one extra for those things I need to throw in at the last minute...I brought a small steamer which I hope will get the wrinkles out of stuff(DH wanted to go buy garment bags...but since everything is all packed I vetoed!) We also each have carryons...dh must bring his computer...but I am going to watch amovie on it (I hate to fly and hopefully it will be a good diversion-RADIO...anyone see it?) . I know we have way too much stuff ...but sixteen days is a long time!

Did I mention that we have a wedding to attend the day we return...we arrive at noon and the wedding is at 4PM!

See you all on the cruise...and to whomever is also staying at OKW next week...look us up !!!!

Oh Gee...You can't even go to sleep at night and not awaken to a full page of posts, I love it!

It's hard to answer, now I have to go back and see what to answer.

Terry...Thanks for the weekly countdown. I agree, a daily one would be great and since I am off today and tomorrow and am leaving next Friday, I also have only

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc (4) working days to go.

Jill...You ARE one of the gang.

Ginny...We did the orthodontist yesterday and I will be doing nails and we (the girls and I) will be also doing pedicures this weekend. We all need haircuts this week, remember school starts the Tuesday after we get back. I also have the dentist today.

Ginny...What do you do for a living that you can go to work at 6 AM.

Lyn...Tell your DH to go with the flow and not stress over the small stuff. Hair will grow back and dye grows out. (all too fast, if you ask me)

Melanie... You are very lucky to have someone you can leave your children with. Enjoy the cruise. When my mom babysits, my kids just love it, they want us to stay out later LOL

Cindy...I have a 4 PM dental appointment. I am going to try to get it moved up. I am OFF this weekend. Samantha really wants to go to Build a Bear workshop today. If I don't get there today I will try to get there some other time this weekend, so I will give you a call if we go to that side of the world. I haven't been to that mall in a looong time. And it is cruise time and back to school shopping, so a reason to shop and justify the trip that far to that mall and not the malls within a stones throw.

Our last cruise we had 11 suitcases, 8 checked and 3 carry ons. I plan on lightening the load this time as I realized we didn't nearly use all the clothes or shoes we brought.

Key West...What is everyone doing? We had the Glass bottom catamaran on our list, but we quickly decided against it after I saw the excursion only got 1 star in the passporter. I need ideas please.

Pauline if you are still around, I just sent you a PM.

You know my very first cruise was on the Oceanic, which in turn became The Big Red Boat 25 years or so later. It the Top of the Line Ship when it was brand new. I still compare every ship I'm on to it.

I'm starving but I keep saying, I'll be eating in another week so I keep passing on snacks. My kids are starving as I haven't bought much at all this week.

Oh well, my five minute break is up, gotta get back to doing my housework and packing.

Wise choice on the Catamaran. We did that last year and it was awful. We couldn't see anything because all the people sat around the glass panels and not everyone fits. In my opinion it was a waste of time and money.

We were on the Big Red Boat for our honeymoon. It was so short, I don't remember much about it. We didn't stay on Disney property and I'll always regret that. There's so much I didn't know back then!

Doreen...I have ANY kind of emergency note imaginable for them - medical, school, insurance, ANYTHING!!! I have a manilla folder for each of them with numbers, our itinerary, insurance cards, household info, etc! I am such an overplanner but when it comes to those three little boys, I have a hard time not being over zealous!!!!

I'm starting to feel like "Pork" ... you remember those commercials for the "other white meat"?

It's me...the other Ginny checking in. While hubby's last day is today...I have to work on Monday and Tuesday; however, I'm leaving a bit early on Monday (dentist appt) and I'm working at home on Tuesday (eye dr appt). Plus...between this weekend and Tuesday night, we have to clean the bathrooms & the kitchen, both of us are getting haircuts (no mohawks, as far as I can tell), tips & toes (mani/pedi), pull down the suitcases, begin to pack, take the ferrets to their grandparent's house (my mom and dad), and take out the trash. Then on Tuesday night, we'll pack up the Jeep and very early Wednesday, we'll head to FL. Whoa, I'm tired just reading it!!!!

As for suitcases...as far as checked luggage, we have three. The big one (for my stuff), the medium one (for Andy's stuff), and a garment bag (dress clothes). Carry-ons...we have a small rolling suitcase (aka the liquor store...beer, cokes, etc), my HUGE tote (books, magazines, my Disney Cruise Line guide, and my 3-ring binder, which has info on each port along with coupons and printouts of the menus), a toiletries bag and a bag (it's really the softsided cooler in disguise) for electronics. Oh crud... Andy's bringing his XM radio...so that will probably go in the rolling tote...so the beer may go in the cooler, or on a rolling luggage tote. Hmmm... something else to think about. Maybe Andy could just carry the XM radio?

I have to go in search of a Coke (without rum) and do some work. For those who are leaving --- be safe!! See you in FL!!!

AARRGGGHH, need to vent. Have had a very hazardous two months and Tuesday CANNOT come fast enough. Between skin chemo and car problems and house flooding...and then today we had plumbing problems. My husband hurt his neck yesterday and I've been running around like a maniac trying to replace my prescription glasses, but they can't seem to find the prescription where I got them before!

Two months ago I started laying out items for the cruise, making lists, doing paperwork and I thought -- wow, I am going to be so on top of it this time. But unforeseen circumstances have now caused me to be in the "I'm not packed yet and can't even get to the luggage" mode -- my cruise documents aren't even filled out.

Anyway, just needed to let off some steam. Seems like this last week has had it's share of roadblocks.

I sure am looking forward to a Bahama Mama :drinking1 :cloud9:

invaderzim You really need this vacation. Cheer up, it'll all come together and if you forget something not to worry, that is why they have expensive gift shops on board.

I too feel like I'm never going to get done here. My boys are still at work and I was really counting on them to help me a bit tonight. They'll be dead tired when they get in and I don't have the heart to make them do anything. They've both worked 8 weeks this summer earning all their own spending money.

Actually we're in a 1 bedroom at the oKwest next week. I'm planning on cooking dinner a couple of nights there. Fast easy stuff, but still cooking.

I do laundry too on vacation. :earseek: But in the DVC it is so easy, it's right in the room. I do the towels in the morning and then our clothing in the evening. Takes no time at all and really cuts down on the packing. For a 10 day trip, we take 4 outfits each. One worn, three packed.

Happy Birthday Sandy!!

Doreen - No Im not gone yet so your gonna have to wait a little while longer to start bashing me... LOL

I am finally done with all the things on my list today.. I am totally packed and the car is even loaded up. We have 8 hours left til we leave for the airport. All I need to do it get a shower and lay out the kids clothes for tomorrow. Then hopefully get a few hours sleep before I have to get up at 3AM.

My kids would kill for pizza about now.. they have been eating leftovers all week because I refused to go food shopping this week.

I probably wont get a chance to log on again before we leave so I wish you all a safe journey down to florida and I cant wait to meet you guys.

I have a confession to make, you won't believe this but I haven't even gotten the suitcases down from the attic yet. I keep reading that your all packed and ready to go and look at me. Tomorrow we are having a new heater put in so I didn't want to think about packing until that mess is cleaned up.

Wanta bet that I will be forgetting something.

I went and had my nails done today and of course I smudged one on the way to have my hair dyed. Oh, and my hair came out way too blonde it looks awful. I was thinking about going back to the salon but then if they redye it, it will be even more dry.

Have a great night!

Reading all of the postings has inspired me to start packing.

I went thru my clothes & most don't fit (too small). Solution - SHOPPING - I havn't bought that many clothes for myself since I bought 6 summer dresses at animal kingdom. I spent almost $500. Wow that was fun. The military PX had some bargains on summer clothes.

Then I went to the class six store (liquor store) & bought the ingredients for the kamakazies.

Then I raided the change jar. I guess that will be the tip money.

Happy birthday Sandy .

Safe trips for those ready to leave.

DVC = Disney Vacation Club - It's like a timeshare only it's right on Disney Property. OKWest, BoardWalk Villa, Beach Club Villa, Wilderness Lodge Villa and the the Saratoga Springs are all part of the DVC. In fact we are using our points to cruise. A lot of people say it's not the best use of points but we bought in with the options of using them to cruise every couple of years. My 5 nights in Disney before the cruise and the cruise cost of 570 points in total (470 for the cruse and 10o for 5 nights at the OKWest 1 bedroom) (We get 400 per year) so we've borrowed a bit from next year but we'll still have enough to spend a week at Disney if we want. The only cash outlay I had for the cruise was the $75 transfer fee to book the cruise instead of a DVC hotel. Keep in mind this is for 4 people, so to us it was a good deal!

We haven't been on a cruise in 4 years and we are all so looking forward to being on the Magic again.

Doreen - I believe it is Kathy's best friend's husband that is Speedo Man. I wonder if he has the bod to carry off the Speedo - so few do.....so few do....

Mary Anne - I have cruised with points also. Didn't have enough this time, but last time I did. Can you believe we have been members since 1999 and have never stayed in a DVC resort. I use my points how I see fit that's why I bought them. So obviously I believe there is no such thing as a poor use of points! For two days at the end of the cruise we'll be at OKW for the first time. We own at Boardwalk (hence my DIS name O'BWV, O'B for O'Brien & BWV for Boardwalk Villas) I wonder when we'll stay there? BTW, besides my home, DVC has been the best purchase of our lives.

Ginny - God Speed!! Can't wait to meet you!

Lyn - Sorry about your hair. I dyed my yesterday and for some reason my roots came out really light. I look like I have a skunk stripe down my part or it looks like my head is wearing a thong. I'm gonna try and fix it before I leave. Funny, this never happen to me before and I really look funny.

Mary Rose, we bought into the DVC on our last Disney Cruise in 20000; We paid cash for that cruise. We own at BWV and at SS. Our feeling is points are to be used as you want to use them; no right way no wrong way.

We've paid points to go holiday times; week-end; you name it; I've also spent two week in Disney checking in and out on week-ends to save points.

Our next plan to to rent the OkWest Grand Villa for 5 days in 2006 and take family with us! In August it is only 250 points for the 5 days.

I've stayed at both the OkWest and BWV. We love Boardwalk for the area and OkWest for the laid back quiet LARGE (really large) rooms! I have to say we are a bit of a snob though, never stayed in a studio only one bedrooms and once a two bedroom for one night (we had guests).

Mary Anne - It must be great to have 400 points that is awesome. We only have 150 but it's enough for us to stay at the Contemporary for the Mon - Fri period and pay cash on the weekends. I'm looking forward to staying at OKW after the cruise. We are staying in a studio because we do need the Sat. stayover and still the Sat & Sun nites only cost 28 points. That leaves us enough points to go the Contemporary for 5 nights during Jersey week in Nov. DD is dancing in front of Cinderella's Castle with her dancing school. I can't believe how far 150 points go. 400 points must be great!

Mary Rose, trust me once you stay in a DVC room be it a Studio or One bedroom, you won't use your points to stay in a regular Disney hotel again.

But that's the best part of DVC, you can use your points to do what you want with them. studiom, reg Disney Hotel, cruise! Like you said, best buy we ever did.

Cathy...I was feeling the same way with illness (not the catchy kind) It was too much of a chore to pack and such, I was getting VERY overwhelmed and really not looking forward to going. I've had my docs for a long time now and just filled them out last night and not without moaning and groaning.

I think we all need to start the drinking festivities to relax a little.

Bobby, you too are already on vacation? Why don't you head out tomorrow then if you are done working. You can always stay at my mother in laws instead of a hotel.

We also had Dr. and dentist visits today.

We are leaving on Thursday sometime in the afternoon. We need to visit with the new baby and drop off the dog in Howard Beach sometime before we leave.

And of course we need to pick up wine etc... Im voting for the creamsicle drinks. I've already shopped for larger sized clothes, given up my diet, and can't wait to eat myself silly next week!

Hi everyone!

After a trip to Walmart for some more cruise stuff, we are home relaxing. Tomorrow we have to do last minute clothes shopping.....LARGER sizes along with the rest of you... the word "DIET" will not enter my vocab until September 5th!!!!! I figured the poor CM's go to so much trouble to make such good foods and desserts that we CAN NOT as avid Disney lovers disappoint them by not eating it ALL!!!!!!!!! ::yes:: Now when I get home and step on the scale, that will be a different story strewn with tears.......

We vote for pre-cruyise drinking! We bought a few packs of Kahlua Mudslide drinks at Walmart this morning to enjoy today. And have begun the "at this time next week....." talks!

Was supposed to get my highlights redone but then Charley hit and blew that idea (and my appointment!) so I am slightly highlighted but mainly dark blonde roots!

On the serious side, I used Downy Wrinkle releaser on my first cruise and I still use it at home, especially on Tee shirts, just spritz and pull and you are wrinkle free. I don't know about dress clothes but for all the shorts and tee shirts its a charm.

Who is going to WDW THIS week?

Good Morning everyone!

Mom is coming to visit today and spending time with our boys in the a/c (she still has no power in Charlotte Co.) while Adam and I cruise shop for last minute clothes, items, etc! Very excited!!!! Hopefully I won't be crying in the fitting rooms having to buy those larger sizes!!! LOL

Question to all.... Has anyone used the ship's laundry service to press their clothing? How many items (estimate) did you send out and how much was it??? I have been hunting for Downy wrinkle releaser and can't find it anywhere here for over a month. I really do not want to iron - HATE it at home so I certainly don't want to be doing it on the cruise!!!! Am considering sending them my laundry too so I don't have to do it and take the $$$ from our suvenior budget. Isn't that sad??? I know the penny pincher in me will probably wind up doing it myself but wanted any feedback on this.

Melanie

It's going to be a very long two days. I just want to jump in the car and start driving.

Mary Anne
08-22-2004, 07:50 AM
I think it is between 2.50 and 3.50 per item to have it ironed by them. I've already made up my mind to do it. I figure we'll have maybe 10 items so at the most it is $30. I rarely buy any stuff, so I'm just going to treat myself to this!

We're on our way, so I look forward to seeing all of you next week. Have safe trips. See you all between Fri and Sat!

Melanie...Target has the Downy wrinkle releaser. It is cheaper there than the supermarket and Target is practically around the corner from us. The Downy is good for the Tee shirts and shorts, on our last cruise we sent all our dress clothes out to be pressed. It was somewhere around 20 something dollars. We will be doing it again. go to www.dcltribute.com and click on FAQ's and then scroll to laundry and click on it and there will be a price list.

Doreen...If you don't find the Downy today, (check your local supermarket also) and if Karel can't get it, let me know.

I used the ship's laundry service to iron my dressy dress and I thought it was around $2.00 but I really don't remember. I am still using them for the tuxedo shirts I want them nice and crisp.

We will be in Disney on Friday at the Polynesian. Doing MGM in the morning Prime Time 50's for lunch at 1:00 PM if anyone wants to meet us there, and then we eating a the Castle at 7:05 for dinner.

Thanks for changing that. I couldn't help myself when the discount came out Iwas drawn back home to the Polynesian. Our friends were supposed to stay there but has since cancelled their plans.

If you want to it's not a big deal you can take Amanda off she won't be joining us. Imagine a 17 year old girl quitting school, and then moving with her 23 year old boyfriend to Texas. That would have happened in my house over my dead body. I can't imagine what her parents were thinking!

Thanks again,

Hi everyone!

Today was my last day of work before the cruise. Just to clarify, my kids sorted all of the magnets for everyone. They had a ball doing it! Stuffing the envelopes was like making Halloween goody bags for them.
Joanna- I ironed the other day and left everything hanging . I will put it all into the garmant bag on Wed night. I hope all of my stuff won't wrinkled, what a waste of time that would have been.

It's a beautiful day here and we are off to see the new baby. First time since the day he was born! Maybe today I'll even get to hold him!!!!!

See you during the week!!!

Wow, you guys are on the ball. I have never heard of the Downey wrinkle releaser. Now I have to go on a hunt for it. I did buy a steamer and plan on using that, but think the Downey sounds good for T's. How does it smell?

I packed most of our clothes last night. I use freezer bags and get out as much air as I can. It is so eay to pack that way. I can see everything and so can airport security, so they don't need to rummage around in my undies! Plus it keeps things together by category which makes unpacking easier, too. I don't have our formal things packed. They are hanging together, though. I'm still debating about whether to do a slight alteration on my dress. Have to decide tonight or I won't have time.

I bought a bottle of Champagne for embarkation night. I also bought 2 other bottles of local wine, but one is gone already. I think the other may bite the dust tonight. Oh well, there is always the wine package onboard.

I have 4 more days of work before we fly out on Fri. Tue, Wed & Thurs I will have to drive to Trenton and back for training. I'm looking forward to the training but hate the traffic. I'm completely spoiled by working so close to home.

Went to the mall today. I also hate shopping! I know that is sacreligious, but it is true. DD needed all white sneakers for school, no color what so ever. Do you know how hard they are to find? Finally found a pair that had removeable charms on the laces. Thank goodness she wears a uniform to school.

Cindy - tell the kids thanks for sorting the magnets. I'll bet they had fun.

All of you who did tie-dye, you are brave souls! Can't wait to see you all looking so 70ish and all you pirates!

Doreen:

I will bring the Downey for your sister. What cabin is she in? I will hang in on the door so that she doesn't have to carry it after the meet. I am in 6034.

Sandygirl:

Downey smells really great and works really well for tees, sundresses and such. I have never tried it on suits.

Is anyone making name tags?

Last year we have a huge turn out for the meet after the drill. We took group pictures but mine turned out dark. I was hoping they can turn up the lights so they turn out better this year. I hope everyone brings their kids so that they can get acquainted. I think a lot of the teens have been talking already.

We have a busy week this week hopefully it goes by fast. Doctors, dentist again, Bob needs his hair cut and my niece is off to college so were are having a going away dinner for her. My boss is on vacation so I can pretty much goof off, good thing because my mind will be on the cruise.

Good Evening Friends!

I've been MIA today first trying to fix my skunk-stripe hair (think I did okay there) and second, putting the X-Cargo on top of the car! YIPPEE YIPPEE. Finally the packing is winding down. I ran today to pick up some juice boxes for my friend's three-year-old. They are flying and since I'm driving I told her I bring what I could for her. Needless to say that was before I packed the 100-pound-bag-of-booze and packed all the bags & carryons I'm allowed. Well, at least I can help the little one. And, you know, I'm happy to share my booze!LOL My friend is traveling with 50 family & friends. Doesn't that sound like great fun!

I also agree about the Downy wrinkle releaser. Not being too much of a Suzy Homemaker I swear by the stuff!

Good Morning All!!!

Well, shopping yesterday turned into a chore...lots of money spent and more is needed to be done tomorrow. Unfortunately after store #2, the cell started ringing to find that our little CRUISE CURSE has finally hit my house....Jacob (DS age 3) had gotten sick all over my sister and my bed and was crying and burning up. So shopping trip cut short and the rest rescheduled for tomorrow evening. The rest of the night was spent on the couch holding Jacob while he slept and carrying him around the house. So now I am chewing down vitamins and drinking OJ like nothing praying I don't catch this little bug of his. The kids finally return to school today after a little over a week off from the hurricane and he will be staying home one more day with me sick. OH WELL!!!!

Love the Friday Night idea. I bet J and T wouldn't mind if we all crashed in their room and joined them on the following week's cruise???? LOL (jk guys!) :jester:

Jacob is napping at the moment and Alex (DS age 1) woke up this morning with a cold. Probably from last week with no electric and a/c to now having it again - temperature adjustments always do that to my kids. Shoving vitamins and OJ on them too!!! lol

Wow, only 4 days till we'll be landing in Florida! I had my hair appt this morning, and I have my manicure and pedicure appts on Thursday.

I took the kids out shopping. We ordered prescription sunglasses for DS16, and they said they should be in before Thursday. I hope they are. I bought the cutest pajama set in Walmart; it has Mickey and Minnie on the bottoms, which look like shorts, and the top is red and has a picture of Minnie and she's thinking of Mickey Mouse (he's in one of those "thought" bubbles" and it says "Agree with me now and get it overwith" or something like that. Hehehe. I am imagining DH and I sitting out on the verandah, sipping mimosas, in the morning with me wearing those pjs. LOL

Nat: I am really hoping to see Gemma at least once! We have 3 reservations for Palo, the brunch, dinner, and tea. If she's not our server I will ask our server to point her out so I can say HI to her :)

The kids will probably think we're nuts! But that's okay by me. As they say... I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every single minute of it! And as my son says... In our family, it's survival of the weirdest!

MELANIE Hope your little guy feels a whole lot better and no one else gets "the bug".

Bobby Cool camera! I'm a shutter bug but a novice when it comes to digital. I actually thought about checking out the duty free cameras onboard. Can't wait to see the magnets! We owe you for all the "magic" you have added to anticipating this trip.

Dori Glad to see you found us before the ship sailed. Please try to make the DIS meet in the Promenade Lounge after the lifeboat drill. I don't think you could miss us!

DOREEN Tell your sister we are thinking of her. Get better!

To all of you campaigning for a Friday night "Drink the Leftovers" Party, my vote is with you. I really don't know much about mixed or foo-foo drinks. If I bring some mixers can someone help me out? I get confused at Starbucks! And that is just coffee! LOL

Now I've got kids of my own and will not even let them watch the video!

Can't wait to go. Can't wait to go. Can't wait to go.!

Cindy::MinnieMo

If Jessie ever sees those pics of her she will freak. At least she has a whole tooth!

Hi Dis-zy friends!

Welcome Dori & Devin! I have a son John age 11. Quite a few boys in the age group on the DIS it seems.

Melanie - I hope you DS is better really soon and that no one else gets it! Me & DH are really suseptible to the stomach virus. Once one kids starts hurling, me & DH are never far behind.

Doreen - Sorry about you Sis! I've been taking Meclazine all week for dizziness (although who ever said I wasn't dizzy in the first place) But seriously it's a horrible feeling and I hope shes better ASAP! Tell her we have some serious, and I do mean serious drinking to do on the 8/28 BOOZE CRUISE!

Darlene - I don't know much about drinks either but I'm willing to help if you're willing to have me. Have smoothie maker, will travel LOL!

Cindy & Bobby - Great pics! Adorable too! Bobby (every single, solitary time I type your name I type ****y, now what in the heck do you think that means LOL!) Okay I see stars so can you guess that I type two o's instead of two b's. I guess that's a word on the banned list. Thanks very, very much for all the hard work you did on the magnets - you're the best. Name your poison!

All I have left to do know is go to the bank, mani & pedi & cleaning the house (ugh)

DISers STAY WELL........Let's all join mice and make a circle and erase the curse again!!! LOL! I'm getting a little giddy here tonight! I'm so excited!

Oh Boy I go to work and get home and there are 3 pages to catch up on.

Dori and son...Welcome Aboard. Where are you staying pre night? We will be having a DIS meet at the Radisson by the pool.

Terry...We land at 1:50 P.M. How about you?

Melanie...Enough already, no more sickness. Glad your son is feeling better.

Doreen...Don't feel bad, I am in my mid forties and have never seen Rocky Horror.

Bobby...Awesome pictures. I have my magnets and when Mitch took down the 2 boxes of leis, he left the magnets up top, Good thing I noticed. I screamed, my MAGNETS, don't let me forget them.

Went to Kohl's tonight and had to buy more luggage. Yep we thought 2 large, one pilot and 1 suitor and 1 shoes and 1 toiletries and meds was enough. NOT.

OH Did I forget to tell you 3 more days of work!!!!!!!!!

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

One bouncy for each work day.

Talk to you all later.

Joanna - Thanks for the luggage update. Makes me feel better! I look like I'm moving on to the Magic permanently LOL! Do you have any idea how many people will be at the DIS meet? How many Leis do you figure on? I was going to try on pop over the Party City and see if they had any doo-dads but I wouldn't have any idea how many to get. Thanks.

Joanna: We due to land at MCO at 2:17pm on Friday. We'll be right behind you! :) Can't wait to meet you at the Radisson.

Mary Rose: I bought a little something to hand out at the Radisson DIS meet (If there are any left, I'll bring the extras onto the ship and hand the rest of them out)...I hope you don't end up buying the same thing! LOL I don't want to give it away, but what I bought came in a long tube, with "25 items" inside. So....if you see something that could possibly fit this description, don't buy them! LOL (If you want to know, PM me, and I'll tell you.) It's really just a little something, nothing major, but will be fun for our poolside evening get together! ::yes::

P.S. Does anyone know how many of us will be meeting at the Radisson on Friday??

P.P.S. Regarding luggage, I *still* haven't started packing yet. At least the suitcases are out of the attic, so I plan on starting tomorrow. I just hope I don't suddenly realize that I've forgotten to do or buy something important. LOL (Anyone else besides me going to breath a huge sigh of relief once we're actually ON the ship??? LOL)

Terry - Thanks for the heads up. I'll stay away from anything that looks like that. Honestly, I don't have any ideas but when I look around the party store I'll steer clear. Note to self: No long tubes with 25 items in it LOL! BTW, it's very kind of you and Joanna and Bobby to bring things for the meet. I wish I would have thought of it sooner, I probably could have gotten something cute at Oriental Trading. Oh well, now I'm out of time & ideas.

Joanna thanks for the encouragement,,, I saw a retake on it at Busch Gardens HALLOWSCREAM,, but never saw the movie.. Don't you just love KOHL's?? lol well any shopping for that matter. Thank you everyone for my sisters well wishes.. She lives in Virginia.. and no other family there.. I told her to take her meds and get better isn't it a terrible feeling. I do hope she is better before we fly...

I'm soooo jealous of those who are off work or almost off work. Living in Florida I work until day before. No travel time. That's the only downfall.

See you guys soon!!!

Good Morning everyone!!!!:wave2:

I can't believe we only have days left!!!! Carolyn... we have the same deal here...Work until Friday and leave Sat. morning.

Bobby and Cindy...Your kids are too cute! Love the pics!

Rocky Horror - I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Went and participated while I was in college and I am in my late 20s!!!! :)

Doreen....HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!! See you on the ship! :) And Happy Anniversary too!!! :sunny: Sorry to hear about your sister, hope she feels better!

Jacob is feeling better so it is off to school for him today! Alex still has a cold and Adam and I are stll trying to fight anything off. I don't care if I carry on seasickness bags and tissues galore - I AM GOING!!! ;)

Ok since we are back to the luggage talk - there is only 2 of us going and I am looking at 2 large suitcases, and 2 small suitcase to check in, plus one small carryon, garment bag (carry on), and laptop bag (carryon). Is this entirely too much????? I always over pack and really tried not to but each of the large suitcase hold our clothes, then each of the small hold shoes, snorkel gear, toiletries, etc.... Any twosomes out there pack this much????

It must be great to live in fla. When I retire I'm moving there & going to work for Uncle Mickey (Mouse)

Melanie
When my daughter was growing up she went just about every week to the Rocky Horror Show. They used to dress up & participate. I love it too - even have the DVD.
Hope your family is better.
I don't leave until Sat either but I took the next few days off to pack.

Anybody else who's still around have a safe trip & see you there.

You're not the only one working until Friday, I am too. I need to save the remainder of my leave in order to take the two weeks that the kid will be out of school over Christmas.

Devin and I will be catching a 1 AM red-eye out of Seattle.

So no, I will not be at the night before gig. And yes, I may need assistance in staying awake until bedtime on Saturday. Not much drinking for me that night... two shots of tequilla would probably put me in dreamland. You guys will have to wait until the next night to see how hardy I can party. ; )

If you are leaving that early in the morning what time do you get to Orlando.

We are leaving 10 am from Phila. ( MY daughter Laurie & granddaughter Alyssa) I tried to get a earlier flight but they told me I'd have to go standby.

My name is Dori and Devin is my DS (age 12). We have a 1 hour lay-over in Minneapolis and we get to Orlando at 11:20 AM.

How long is the flight from Phila? Maybe we'll meet up at the airport to dock transport.

Doreen...Glad your sister is feeling better, boy she did get the curse, vertigo before a cruise, I feel nausea already.

Trinibjill...You can only have 2 timers at a time, they are going to wipe all of them out on you, so I would remove one of them before they are all gone.
