View Full Version : Anybody got a mini-goal they want to reach by the Fourth of July???

I weighed in at WW yesterday at 146.6. That's a total of 5.6 pounds gone since 3/17 when I started which is nice. I am certainly NOT complaining. But I blamed the lack of exercise, and slow weight loss on the cold weather, when in truth I know I could be doing better with food choices, along with journaling and exercising. So here it is...my commitment to do better and to attain the goal of 140 by the fourth of July. I'll need to average a 1.3lb weight loss each week between now and then, and with the help of my WISH buddies, and everyone on the WISH board I KNOW I CAN DO THIS!!!

So who's with me? Anybody got a mini-goal they want to meet for the fourth of July?

I'm with you, annie! My mini-goal has always been to hit ONEderland by the end of June. I've about the same as you to lose to hit 199.5. So we can work together. :jester: We can do it, yes we can!

Ya another 5lbs gone (just lost 3) would be nice by July 3rd. DS & I have our 1st mini-vaca July 3-6. So 146-141 ? Oh man, if Im that close to seeing the 30s, hopefully I wont stray too bad while we're away.

I have a doc apt for checkup on the 30th - Im aiming to have the 5lbs off by then.

Annie, I had not set a mini goal for the 4th of July, but your thread now has me inspired to! I think that your weight loss goal of 1.3 pounds per week is a very realistic goal! In fact if you do that journaling and stay OP I bet you will lose even more!
So, let's see. I would like to lose 12 pounds by 7/4. I think that is realistic for me because I have more weight to lose than you do, so it should still be coming off a bit faster. I started Curves today, and I am hopeful that that will help me reach my new goal. Thanks for challenging us to join you in a mini goal, Annie!

which is in 34 days, I want to weigh 190!;) I am at 204 now, up a ways due to that "monthly" thing we Woman go thru.:rolleyes: So, I am starting anew!;) If i can be at 190 on July 4th, I will be THRILLED!!;)

I'm just shy of getting my 10 lb clippie right now. Hopefully, I'll get it this week. I hadn't set a goal for July 4, but I think that's a good idea, especially since my B-day is July 6. My goal will be to collect my 15 lb clippie. It will be a great B-day present to give to myself.

I have a goal of 35 pounds by the 4th. Only 10 to go but, since I've stopped beating myself up ;) , I will try but not be disappointed if I don't make it.

I set a goal for June 27th- but July 4th is close enough!! I want to have my 20 lb. clippie by then- I have 7.5 lbs to go- I might be able to amke that! I lose weight VERY SLOWLY!!! Although- I am starting the WATP tapes this week!! MAyeb that will push the weight loss faster!

July 4th I WILL BE OUT OF THE TEENS AND INTO SINGLE DIGITS- (I have to say that loudly so my brain will listen!)

That means that any number....201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207. 208, 209 will be acceptable that's a weight loss of 8-16 pounds. Not gonna limit myself- if I hit a specific goal- I may just slack off and not be disciplined- this way I keep at it.

For those that don't know- I started at 236 on April 1st- so those 20x numbers are really very good! :) The good news is NO birthday cakes to be made this month! Nothing sinful until 4th of July- and if I make it into the single digits- I'm having a big ole fat juicy hamburger! :)

I WANT MY 20 POUND CLIPPIE!!!! I have been 2 pounds away for about three weeks now! Loosing inches, but not the pounds. I actually have reached one mini goal of being in a size 14 jeans...which I proudly purchased the other night...but the lack of weight loss is driving me crazy! I will get there though!

Thanks for the great thread Annie!! I've missed my last 2 weigh-ins because first I was busy getting ready to get out of town and then I was and while I had access to a scale I don't trust anyone else's but my own!! So since I'm not sure where I'm starting off at I'll make a first goal and then reevaluate tomorrow :p

Ultimately I would also like to get my gold 30lb. clippie. I think that I am only 8.5 lbs. away and I would be so incredibly thrilled but I could also find excitement in a 5 lb. loss too. So that's it - today the vacation ends and the work starts back up again!

My goal is to have my 10 pound clippie by July 4th. I am just starting today and have about 30 pounds to go total. But one of my main objectives is to get in better shape. The pounds definitely need to come off, but I really need to get the body toned and my over-all healthy back on track.

I want to loose 10lbs by July 4th. We'll be in WDW then, and so I want to look thinner for vacation.

However, I seem to be stalled here. No weight loss the past wee and a half!!!:confused:

My Goal - this is the first time I'm actually putting one out there... I want my 20 lb. clippie by July 4. I'm 11 pounds away but my loss has been pretty slow so this will be a challenging one to meet.

annie - i had actually thought last friday that I needed a new mini-goal now that May 31 one has come and gone! Soooooooooo I decided I want to hit my first GOAL by july 4! yikes! That means 4 more lbs for me. That means 1 lb per week until July 4! That may not sound like much, but I've only avg about .5 - .75 lb/week. so this will keep me focused! I have not been in the 130s since I got married almost 8 years ago!

I'm glad you started this thread so now my new mini-goal is public and I love that accountability!!

I was gone over the weekend, catching up now. I hadn't thought about a 7/4/03 goal till now - but I want my 15# clippie by then - I think that's about 8 lbs.

I wasn't going to make a mini goal, but this thread inspired me.

So my low end goal is 7 lbs. to take me to 140, my super goal is 12 lbs. to get me to 135. I'll be really happy with anything in between!

Well, I can make a mini-goal, but it can't be for 4th of July...we are going up north from June 27-July 5, so my goal is before my trip...I would like to:
1. Have my 20lb clippie (need to lose 3lbs for that)
2. Lose a total of about 5-6lbs

and for my trip:
3. Come back without gaining more than 2lbs
4. Have fun while still drinking my H2O and getting some exercise

I am torn between two goals, but think I have decided.

I want my 20 lb. clippie by 7/4/03.

That gives me 29 days to lose 8 lbs. With the success I have been achieving with Atkins, that should not be a problem. If I hit it before then, I will revise my goal, but not slack off!!!!!!!!

I will also plan to have my 30 day cheat free star!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to everyone!!! My vacation begins July 5, so I am trying for that 10lb clippie. I have decided to start Alex's (old) Atkins challenge TODAY (6/6) in order to get there! I have lost about 3-4lbs so far, depending on when I weigh. Since the weight has been coming off very slowly, I need all the support & encouragement I can get!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to do MORE EXERCISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a huge slacker!!:rolleyes:

OK Annie, here's my July 4th goal. I want my 10 pd clippie. That means that I have to 3.5 pds to go. I am not one to lose fast, so that is an average of .875 pds a week. I am aiming for a 1pd loss each week and that get me to my clippie. Thanks for the challenge to reach my goal.

Tried on the dress last night, and while it zipped, it was close. So I would like to lose 7 pounds or look good in the dress.

I commit to not eating after 7PM drinking eight glasses of water and 30 minutes of either yoga, stair master, or the firm tapes per day.

Do you think this will do it?

Decided on Jorge Cruise 8 minutes in the morning. I figured I could squeeze that much into my life.

I am done with the first week and have lost 4lbs. I don't expect that the weight will continue to come off at that pace (or should it) but it was an encouraging start.

I did not have a goal for the 4th of July but I had a goal of 20 pounds by August 8th (when I go back to work at the school). Since in my first week I made over half that goal I think I will change the goal of reaching 20 lbs lost to the 4th!!! I guess I will need to re-think a goal for Aug 8th!!

SO.......My goal for weight lost by the 4th of July is 20 pounds!!!;)

Karen, the only thing that is helping me right now is the :eek: exercise, and being June and the end of the school year, I am exhausted. I'm doing my best to keep going, because I can see the results-and I've had a whole slew of people comment on my weight loss this week. But. . . .it is tough. :(

Since I don't have an accurate scale (and am in denial about buying one!!) I am hoping to lose the bulge in my belly by July 4!!! I am guestimating that would be about 10 lbs. Ideally, I would love to be at my desirable weight of 125, so that is about 10-15 to go...........

Actually, I'm using August 18 as a goal to be smaller, inchwise. I get to fly to Orlando and meet my "UK family".

It would be nice to lose pounds but I'm going to concentrate on my size instead--it's just less frustrating for me.

Good luck to everyone with a 7/4 goal. Every one of you can do it--I have no doubt about it.

It's a little late for me, but I'd like to join the "mini-goal bandwagon!" I'm going to a resort on a neighbor island on July 5, which has the most awesome pool and lagoon to swim in! I'll start with 5 pounds...

I've been consistent the past two weeks of walking 20+ miles- but last weekend I had two Father's Day dinners that bit my chances of a big loss- I weighed again today (Wednesday) and I'm only 5 pounds away from hitting my goal of being in the 20x range- if I get to 209 I'll be happy- but I'll take anything less. I might have to try the cheat free star until then- if my calculations are right, TOM should be hitting July 4th so I need to work extra hard to circumvent his plans for bloating me.

Come on 4th of Julyers- Freedom is the catch phrase- give us freedom from these extra pounds!!!

only lost another 1lb of that 5lbs I wanted to loose by July 3rd - it just is not coming off
Im eating healthier and getting exercise so I'm going to have to focus on that

Wow! We are all working hard on losing this unwanted weight.

It looks like everyone is doing wonderful!!

I would like to lose 10 lbs by July 4.

I am going to Curves 4 times a week instead of 3, and I am trying to journal what I eat.
I think to actually look at the journal helps me see where I am the weakest.

So, hopefully, I will get a new clippie by July 4!

Well, I will find out tomorrow how close to my goal I am. I am hoping to get my next clippie by the 4th! So far it's been a good week and I feel smaller. I am not measuring again until the 4th, so that will be pretty exciting too!!! Good news is my size 8 Old Navy jeans that I was SOOO thrilled about buying are just getting baggy now! WOW! Did I say that? :)

I might make my goal, but only because of the fat fast Tracy and I have been doing - and only if I continue losing in the next phase of it. When I made the goal it seemed within reason - but after a week or two went by and I had still lost nothing, I really thought I was going to have to give up on goals altogether.

I'm just thrilled that one of my goals is possibly achievable! But I don't recommend this approach to anyone unless they are truly desperate - tho, I don't think 4 days of it would hurt anyone - unless they aren't low-carbing it already.

So here's to meeting all our goals!

Wow only 2 weeks left until July 4!! It has been a real hard month for me - it seems like every day since Memorial day has been a struggle but I'm feeling really positive about the upcoming 2 weeks. I am making my own mini-goal of walking 4 miles a day at least 3 times this week and then at least 2 miles of something (walking or elliptical) another 3 times a week. Looking back on my original post I had kind of made 2 goals - either 5 lbs. or get my 30 lb. clippie. Based on my sneak weigh this week I should at least be able to make my 5 lbs. goal but I'm still shooting for the clippie!!

Good luck to everyone for the next 13 days!! They're going to be a challenge!

Tick, tock, tick, tock....July 4th is approaching!!! What are you guys doing to make sure you meet your goals?

We had a bigger cheat night than planned on Friday (ended up going for Mexican instead of just a pretzel and beer at EPCOT and I really indulged!) Then Saturday Ross and I went out for dinner to split an appetizer, each had a big sandwich (burger and chicken breast) with fries, I had two adult beverages... THEN we went to Cheesecake Factory for dessert and each ate about 1/2 a slice of cheesecake. YIKES! Add two frappuccinos for Ross and one for me...well, it wasn't a pretty weekend. So back on track as of yesterday afternoon and out the door to exercise early this morning as it's promising to be a great day!!!

My body has stopped cooperating with me, TigH! I have stayed on points, I have been exercising, and the weight isn't moving. Quite frankly I am stumped by what's happening. The body is certainly a curious thing, isn't it? I jumped out of schedule though and measured myself today(instead of at the end of the month) and I have lost 7.25 inches since June 1st. More inches than pounds this month!

I am not giving up though!!
