Kelly!! What have you heard about the Royal Pacific?

Planning for next year (we leave in 4 weeks for HRH) - what have you heard about this new resort? Do you think it will be upscale enough to compete w/ the POLY in offering concierge or do you think this is Universal's response to the moderates offered at Disney?

Would love to know what "drumbeats" you have heard so far!

Bought both your books btw; one last year and one this year - just in case I missed something not in your first book! LOL Excellent information in both!

The original word was that the Royal Pacific would be the most economical of the three planned hotels. PBH, super luxury. HRH, luxury. RP, family.

Initial plans were for room rates in the $110 to $125 range, but I would guess that those prices will rise by the time it opens in Fall of 2002.

I'll nose around some more and see what else I can find out.

Is it known for sure that it will be a Loews hotel? Does Loews have an exclusive contract with Universal for not only the present but future hotels?

Yes, Loews has a contract for the first three hotels and, yes, Royal Pacific will be a Loews hotel.

I'm not sure what the exact contractural agreement is, but either Loews has an option to do the additional hotels or there is an agreement that, after the first three are up and running, Loews and Universal will sit down to discuss the other two. But as far as I know nothing has been decided yet.
