Does anyone now of any really nice, not too overcrowded beaches on the gulf coast that aren't too far from Orlando?

Thanks!

Most of the beaches around Tampa Bay are only about 45 minutes to an hour from Orlando. Not sure about the crowds...

I understand that the town of Largo, just south of Tampa has a pretty nice town beach...it could be difficult to find...

Also, there are some very nice beaches a bit further afield in Sarasota, which is about a two hour drive from Orlando.

Try looking into Longboat Key...My brother stayed there last spring and really liked it .I think it's just south of Tampa...maybe 30 miles or so.He's pretty fussy over the quality of his trips so I think it must be pretty nice.

Siesta Beach in Sarasota is very pretty. It has powdery sand. If you go on the weekend, be warned that the parking lot tends to fill up quickly.
