Mickey Mouse at the end of VB pool slide?

I was searching for VB pictures and came across pictures of the "models" for VB.

They showed a Mickey Mouse wrapped around the bottom of the pool slide where it enters into the pool.

Was this ever part of the slide?

i heard that he kept lying on his back to go down the slide and the LG's threw him out.
