FOTL vs. Fastpass?

I'm just starting my USO research, so please excuse the dumb question. I've been to WDW and used Fastpass. How is FOTL different?

FOTL (which is not the same as Express) is different in that there are no passes and no specific times you have to go, you just go to whatever ride/attraction you want whenver you want and do it .... Express is similar to Fast Pass, except you will typically get a choice of two times to return instead of just being given a time.

FOTL is available only to guests staying at Hard Rock or Portofino. You show your room key and go in the express line whenever you want.
