I sent MS an email yesterday asking about the members only message board. Just got a response saying they have no plans on adding one to that website anytime in the near future. Wow, I am shocked. Hope this satisfies the curiosity of others.

I'm betting the cutbacks in the Disney internet group plus underwhelming demand combined to kill this idea for the time being. Besides, who needs a message board there, when we've got the DIS!!!

I always thought that the "official" DVC member message board was a half-baked idea to begin with. I was curious to see how Disney would monitor criticism of themselves. It would be too difficult and self-defeating. When you look at "official" WDW guidebooks, it is impossible to find any objective criticism. So why would they want to open up this can of worms? The DIS boards work fine for me!

that would happen. I once had a CrownLine boat. CrownLine had a board. When I had problems with the boat and dealer, I posted my problem on the board. I was nice, no name calling or bad language. The next workday that came along, bada bing....no post! How do you suppose that happened? Later, when someone would ask if anyone had a similar problem, I would speak up. Bada Bing... , my answer would go ..poof , gone.
We really do not need an "official" board.

From Disney's point of view, a message board on their official sight always sounded a bad marketing move for them. However, from reading this board (almost every day for two years) the general satisfaction with DVC has seemed very positive. This board has been a positive selling force. Of course, the pool hopping or 5 in a one bedroom or OKW vs. BW debates occasionally turns ugly.

This board, single-handedly, IMHO, obviates the need for a Disney-sponsored DVC board. The only thing Disney loses is banner-ad revenue.

Rumor is.....The only reason they are not doing to Board has nothing to do with money....Its Disney Big Wigs could not figure out how to monitor the boards so nothing Neg gets out.....After awile some wanted open fourm most wanted to censor....so they just said forget it......This came from a very good source so take it for what its worth....Disney is King Rumor.....:) :)

That sounds very reasonable, Jay. I know that Sony battles with their bulletin boards all the time trying to keep them focused on being a positive contributor to the enterprise, and Sony has a much lower media-visibility than Disney.
