I just developed 2 rolls of black and white film. They didn't turn out great but some are really nice. Guess I should have taken them to a place that developes them by hand...
Any way now what do I do?
One roll is of my DD dance recital the other, My DD won the flag raising at her school for a week. I have color photos too of all of this.
Here is my ????
Do I mix black and white and color on the same layout? I thought the Flag spread would look great but not sure about the dance pictures.
Any ideas???

Sounds good to me mixing the two. I'd probably do a two page spread so as to bring out the features more of each picture.

I'd probably do the black & white photos on a page by themselves. There is a something special about black & white photos that I think would get lost if you mixed them with color photos. I would probably mat the pics with black or a black/white/maybe grey pattern. Then maybe add a small splash of color like red.

I've been working with a mix of color and B&W in the Oz! book I'm working on. And mixing them. In the past I've kept them separate as well.

Although I tend to mat with color. For instance one layout I did was also not so hot. I took the photos on a winter day and the light was really flat. But I mounted with a royal blue velum running diagonally across the page and mounted the photos as I normally would layout. So not every photo was fully mouned.

In this Oz! book I have a variety of photos including some basically B&W that another person took. As an example last night I did a 2 page spread on the Dainty China Country scene (this isn't the MGM version of the story - closer to the original book for those scratching their heads). Our actresses were costumed as Chineses porcelain figurines - you know the kind every self respecting bride from the 1950s received as wedding gifts!

I used a paper pizzaz paper in teals with gold accents and two black fans in one corner. Then I did a torn paper border on the inside edges (to cover the shortfall of the paper not being quite 12 x 12) in a slightly lighter aqua, and matted each photo with the same color - only about an 1/8 inch border. This was enough to set the photo off from the background paper. There is one large black and white and then 2 smaller full color photos of essentially the same shot on one page. It worked really well. I'd post pictures of the pages but don't know how!

Thanks beansmom. I don't have any layouts posted but would like to. I did get some tips a while ago on how to photograph layouts but don't have a clue how to post them somewhere. I put a thread up this morning asking for ideas and most importantly simple directions on how to do this.

Deb just today I signed up for http://www.picturetrail.com It's a free picture online photo sharing service. I'm going to take digital pictures of my layouts and upload them there. I'd be doing that right now but dh took the scrapbook to work. ;)

You can also post for free at www.twopeasinabucket.com

I just take a digital pic standing right over the layout and it seems to work okay

Thanks Ladies! I'll try to check those out over the weekend and see if I can figure out how to get the picture from DH's digital camera to the website so you can see them.

IF! I figure it out (once I figure out a program I can make it work well but I am the well proclaimed "expert" in finding the exception to how a computer program is supposed to work!) I'll put up some of the layouts I've described.

If you're interested, I came across an interesting LO using black & white photos.

I've seen mixed on twopeas and it looks real nice. I love twopeas' peanut gallery...you can find almost anything in the world as far lo's go.

I like the b&w look and the mixed. It's different and seems more elegant to me.
