A fun little fact about Universal Orlando...

...I read this somewhere, I think Teen People a year ago. An actual High School is right next door to Islands of Adventure! I've seen pictures of it and the coasters are pretty visable.

I wonder what those kids do with their free time? :) :) :)

Yep, there's a school there called Dr. Phillips High. It's right across Turkey Lake Road, and can be easily seen from Fire Dragon.

Dr. Phillips High School is right across the street. You have to enter through the back way to see it.

I wonder if kids who play hooky go over to IOA. :)

Yep, I graduated Class of '96!

DPHS was built in 1987 (I believe).

4,000+ Students attend there (and it was overcrowded when I was there)

I do remember it being a bit of a walk from the High School to the front of Universal.

I seem to remember hearing that Universal has purchased Dr. Phillips and will eventually pay to have the school relocated.

Can anyone confirm that?

I did hear something about a year before IOA opened, that they were going to build on the land, but since they purchased the 2000 acres I don't think they're planning anything soon.

Also, I didn't hear about the school itself, only the land behind it as potential property.
