Hi again, resident new person here with another question...

Have any of you ever looked into the things at discovery Cove for theraputic reasons? If so, did it seem to be helpful and worth it?

This is just a continuation of my quest for a wonderful trip for my friends and I. I've heard that interaction with dolphins can be an amazing thing for people with challenges, and I was wondering if it were true.

Thanks so much... :D

I believe a Dr. Nathansen is the one who has done alot of work with dolphins and people with special needs. He is or was located in the Keys. We looked into this at one time, he had alot of success with improving or even getting a person to speak, using the dolphins. I will look through my mounds of papers and see what else I can find. Wish me luck LOL!

I just read something about these types of programs, but I can't remember where. The main point of the story was that some of the programs are abusive to the dolphins. The ones in the US are OK according to the article, in fact one had a "pool" connected to the ocean where the dolphins were actually free to come and go and they were only expected to "work" for short periods each day. It said that the programs in some other countries, dolphins were captured far away and were literally worked to death. It wasn't an on-line article. I'll see if I can find it and post more info.
