I'm going solo, celebrating a belated 30th Birthday (the b'day's in August) at the end of September/beginning of October. :bounce:

I'm not sure if this is a second childhood or one last gasp before stumbling into adulthood. Either way, I've decided to throw caution to the wind and have a blast, solo or not.


I arrive in Orlando on September 20 (four months from today). My first six nights are off-site (including 2 at the Royal Pacific at Uni). During that time, I plan to hit Sea World and Universal, plus a couple of day trips to Busch Gardens in Tampa and Kennedy Space Center.

On Sept. 26 I'm moving to All Star Music for five nights and Port Orleans Riverside for six. I fly home late October 7.

I've already booked myself into the Keys to the Kingdom tour for Sept 27, the Luau at the Poly for Oct 1, and the Halloween Party for Oct 5. :earsboy:

going Oct 17 thru 25 but not staying at WDW - staying at Hilton's Grand Vacation CLub in a 2-bedroom - and since there is only 2 of us - I think we will have more than enough space - don't you????


we are considering the party on the 19th too - but right now it is only being considered - if we do the party - we will probably stay one night at the Cont -

we are celebrating mother's birthday and the Cont is her favorite (at least this year it is). Oh but that is a long way off -

this Sunday we are leaving to do WIlliamsburg - I have never done this before - I have been going to WDW for the last 20 years - so I guess it is time to branch out - but boy I wish now that it was at WDW.

I'm planning on going to Epcot (for the new Space ride) and Blizzard Beach. My fond childhood memories are of Disneyland, having been to WDW only twice before for a week at a time. I want to go to Universal to ride Spiderman and Back to the Future. I hope to spend the week from Oct. 11 to Oct. 19 having fun in the sun. There'll be 3 of us: me, myself and I. But I wouldn't mind sharing the experience with a like-minded soul.

DH and I will be staying at CBR Oct 18-25 in honor of our 5 th anniversary in Sept. We are planning on going to the MNSSHP on the 19th as long as it doesn't sell out before we get around to buying our tickets! It may be obvious that I'm an Adventurers Club addict so that's what I'm going to do. I did it last year, spent the entire evening there. They have a special show for Halloween. Wear a costume; there are lots of costumes.

We won't be at WDW on Halloween this year unfortunately. I can assure you, however, that it's a blast. We were there two years ago and were in the costume contest held on the West End Stage. It was great!
That year, I was dressed as Michael Myers of Halloween fame, with the bullet riddled jump suit and knife to boot! I know it wasn't exactly "Disney" but it was fun stalking about the park, scaring the bejesus out of folks! And who'd a thunk I'd be a celebrity? Folks kept stopping me time and time again to take a picture with them!
Sadly, I didn't win the contest but then again, I didn't think I would. I was just thrilled to be up on that stage in front of hundreds of folks!

I am trying really hard to get excited about going solo in October, but I am a little sad about the circumstances. I was supposed to go with my boyfriend, but we broke up. None of my friends have the finances to go, so I will be alone. I will be there October 30- November7...that is a long trip to do solo! I am just not sure what to do...but I DO know that I do not want to cancel. Any suggestions??

Welcome to the DIS Adult/Solo Board, Aprilisis. You'll find some very helpful people here. I'm sure you'll get some great suggestions. That is definitely not topo much time for a solo trip. You'll be able to leisurely enjoy the parks and your resort. By Oct, you'll be very excited about the trip, I promise!

Hey there Blueflax! Welcome to the DIS! My Disney Wife (DW) and I will be at the Poly Oct 21 -31st. We love the EF&WF also... can't wait to eat and drink our way around the world! Don't forget to get one of those food and wine programs so you can attend the special seminars that are put on as a part of the festival. Last year was our first time at the F&WF and we decided to attend one not really knowing what was up. But what a treat it was! Don't just pass them up...

Thanks for the BIG WELCOME and the "heads up" about the special seminars at the F&WF. Since you have been before, could you tell me if you "do" PS's at restaurants or do you get full at the booths at the festival? Also I have scheduled three afternoons (11 am to ?) for the F&FW. Is this enough time to experience it? Thanks for you help!

right after the MK Fireworks! Reading reviews about Pleasure Island is how I finessed J to go to WDW. He still thinks it's for kids. And he hates flying! But he loves the House of Blues and a whole island of night life was more temptation than he could pass up! (haha)

Yes, by all means go to the MNSSHP! It isn't just for children. DW and I (40-something empty nesters) are doing our first trip to WDW as a couple and we're doing MNSSHP 10/3 AND 10/5. Not only is it a fun chance to see the MK in a spooky mode, but it is a chance to stay there until MIDNIGHT!

I will be going solo to Disney World for the October 19 MNSSHP. My parents, brother and I will be getting back from a Disney Cruise October 19. The family heads home and I stay for an extra night! I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge for my one night in Disney! I'm very excited! I tried convincing my friends to come to meet at Disney World for a couple days....but they all just think I'm a freak!:D This will be my frist time at Disney alone!

You are very welcome! sorry for the slow reply! We try to mix up the days spent going from "booth to booth" sampling the treats with sit down dinners at various nice disney resorts. We've also scheduled some of the special dinners/pairings etc that can be a bit difficult to get. The really, really important thing is to attend the various seminars & demonstrations put on by the wineries and other that are actually free to attend to everyone inside Epcot. They aren't high on some folk's agenda, but those seminars really made the food and wine festival for me and my DW.

I've never been to PL so couldn't do much beyond passing on what others have experienced: fun place for adults and kids during the day but at night... well, supposidly its not the best place for kids. Just hearsay on my part as I personally haven't been there before. Maybe this year? We'll be at the poly from oct 21 to 31 so maybe we can join you for a wine seminar?

10/30 - attending MNSSHP. Went on 10/31 2 years ago, park was very crowded, so thought we'd try a day earlier this year. A fun event just to people watch, as so many people come dressed in great costumes. Sadly, not us....just don't have the imagination to think of a costume, let alone pack all the stuff! lol!

11/1 - attending party for the senses at Epcot.
11/2 - attending Signature Dinner - Bistro D Paris/Epcot

Remainder of the trip...enjoying the food and wine festival events.
