TChrist-
We were upgraded to room 6000 on our last 4 day cruise and loved it. It is huge! As you probably have figured, it is a wheelchair accessable room with lots of extra space. It is as far forward as you can go without driving the ship yourself. If you have any pictures of the ship, look for that one porthole on the deck above the lifeboats way up front all by itself. That is your window and room!
It has only one bathroom-not the split like others, but it is very large. Also, the bathroom only has a shower - no tub- and the floor and shower are all at the same level for wheelchair access. They are separated by a stainless steel drain that surrounds the shower. There is another drain between the bathroom and the room itself. Make sure you pour at least a cup or two of water in that second drain each day. When we got to the room, it initially had a slight sewer smell, but filling that drain's trap with water took care of the problem! It tends to evaporate out because very little water if any ever gets that far normally.
The living area is spacious. You do not have a sofa, but have a stuffed chair instead located right by the window. I was a little concerned when we were assigned the room that it would not have the charm of a regular room and be somewhat sterile and "hospital-like". It was not! Very nicely decorated.
Location is great! That is probably one of the quietest locations on the ship - at the end of a dead end hall. We never had any problem with ship movement. You will hear the crew when arriving or leaving port as they pull in and let out the chains and lines to dock. Very convienent to clubs and adult pool, plus the forward elevators seem least crowded to me. Plus you get to use the crew staircase forward of the room to go to your safety drill location. Get to see what the working part of the ship looks like!
Congratulations!

Plus my 50% off voucher and the upgade stated "you are entitled to one free upgrade up to a cat. 6. Maybe they'll upgrade me to a cat. 5 and give to my cat. 6. LOL There are 4's and 5's left.

Tchrist05. If you go to www.mytravelco.com I believe that cat 5,6,and 7 are still available (or they were the other day) but no cat 8. DCL may have sold these blocks of rooms to TA's and that is why they would not be available on their website. Good luck with the upgrade! Double pixie dust on you!!!:hyper:

I was just on orbitz.com yesterday and they had every category availiable(maybe no 8's) --even 7 w/c expedia.com said was sold out. And on orbitz--they showed my "old" room 6636 (cat. 7) still availiable.

Just got off orbitz again--all of their 12's & 8's are gone. They have the following rooms listed per cat.:
cat.11-7543, 7541, 6307, 6305, 6085, 5627, 5127
10-2643, 2631, 2629, 2133, 2131
9-2576, 2572, 2570, 2072, 2070, 2066, 2064
7-7128, 6636 (boo hoo), 5638, 5636, 5634, 5140, 5138
6-6604, 5626, 5624, 5622, 5130, 5128
5-7612, 7578, 7548, 7546, 7544, 7538, 7052
4-8592, 8588, 8514, 8512, 8088, 8028, 8010
I guess if orbitz doesn't get rid of them in time they go back to DCL and maybe last minute paid/free upgrades become avail???Who knows--but it looks like rooms still left!

Crazy Momma,
Do you have early seating? If you do and you want to link dinning reservations that might be good. I have a 5 year old nephew that I know he will be in the clubs and that way your son would know someone ahead of time and be more apt to go willing to the club...I think the 5 and 7 year olds are in the same group....

Saturday we took a quick trip over to WDW to exchange a Mickey costume for one of our grand kids and picked up another pair of Mickey hands. Lampskies. you can find them in any of the big stores. We got the first pair in MK at the big shop in Toontown, but saw them in the Emporium on main street. Yesterday we picked up a pair in Downtown Disney.
got the neatest Mickey tie for the cruise. Stars and stripes with a Patriotic Mickey Tie Tack
On the way home we drove past the port. The Magic looked great! The back Funnel stack is repaired, and the ship looked bright and new. Can't wait to see it close up and personal!

I have to tell you that I'm morally obligated to let you know that whoever wins the AL, the Cubs will be there to meet them. It's going to happen TODAY, October 14. That's 10/14, 10 for Ron Santo and 14 for Ernie Banks. It's their year. Gee whiz, the last time was 1908. It's just gotta be, we've suffered enough.

Favorite Auntie....I can relate....I was very happy when Grady Little decided to go with Pedro....as great a pitcher as he is and can be he had nothing left in the tank....and Grady showed he had very little upstairs....but that is the way the sports world goes....a little decision here and there makes for some crazy finishes....hopefully my Yankees win it all....and can you believe it that exactly 6 weeks from now we will be in beautiful Florida waiting to board the most MAGICal ship around.......Have a good one.....and I am truly sorry for a lot of the Sox players and the long suffering fans....

Well up until today I was going on the 11/30 4 day, but I decided what the heck... it's 7 days for me!!
So I called up, changed my ressie, and poof, I'm going on the 11/29 Eastern instead!! Yippee. I am so excited. I have already done 3 4 day Wonder cruises, but have yet to do a 7 day on the Magic, I have so much to learn in so little time.
Well I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread! I will have to get settled in and get reading. I can't wait! 7 whole days on a disney cruise!
Has anyone done this cruise before? So am I considered a newbie since I haven't done a Magic Cruise yet?
Well--until November 29th!!

Welcome DisneyGator01! I have done the 4 day cruise twice before and loved it! And I agree with you, it just wasn't long enough! I have been on a few other 7 day cruises but not Disney! Welcome aboard! What is your cabin number?
Gina::MinnieMo
Oh....and to all of you who keep checking orbitz.com to see cabin availablity, I have new info! I spoke to Disney Cruise Line about that when I called about my docs. They said Orbitz and other travel sites are only allowed to post 5-6 available cabins per deck, and some of them they only allow 2-3 to be posted. So, what we see on orbitz and other travel sites isn't accurate as to what is left. The lady could not tell me exaclty how full the ship was but she said it was pretty full, was the way she put it, but she said it is not sold out and probably won't be. She did say there were plenty of cabins left. Just an FYI!

Thanks for the warm welcome:cool: !
Not sure what my stateroom # or category is yet. We are sailing GTY--- run of the house (what's available basically). But I don't really mind. I have lucked out on my past 3 DCL cruises and ended up with outside staterooms everytimes. 2 times on Deck 2 and, once on Deck 1.
We'll find out once we check in at port. I have to go get a formal outfit though. I wasn't planning on the 7 day at first. I think I will just get one and be economical and wear it twice. Or pack another nice outfit I already have and see how formal--formal really is.
Anyone know? How formal should I go?
Anyway--I am really looking forward to it. I completely forgot until I started reading up on the 7 day this morning that I will finally get a chance to do High tea and a brunch at Palo! I have had dinner on the 4 day there but I can't wait to do the other things there.
And I get a character breakfast, WOW...changing to the 7 day was best idea I have had since I switched to sailing DCL!!!

Welcome DisneyGator01
I'm taking a formal gown and a formal pants suit. I'm taking both because it depends on my mood. I'm probably going to wear the pants suit for the formal night. I like having the dress along just incase I change my mind. We're driving so, I don't have to worry about extra bags. DH is wearing a suit. I'm dressing DS 7 in slacks with a dress shirt. I'm not buying a suit for him to wear once. Check on Chadwicks website they have nice formal wear.
This is our 3rd cruise, 2nd for Disney and our 1st 7-night. I'm looking forward to brunch and dinner at Palo's and the wine tasting.

I wore a pretty balck dress for formal night--probably just considered semi formal to some since it was just a couple inches below my knees. I am not into floor length formals--I always feel like a prom kid or an old lady..............but that's just me. Plus, Florida is a very laid back state as far as attire. I'm sure whatever you choose will be fine. I NEVER felt under-dressed or over-dressed as there was a wide range of clothing (even one man in cut off jean shorts and a tank top!!).
Can't wait!!! It'll be nice to relax and not clean or cook!! (Waiting for a smart alec comment from izzinmac about how I never cook anyway........:p )

I have a simple black dress that I wear for formal night. I am not into gowns either. I would never wear them again. I have a few brides maids dresses (always a brides maid, never a bride!) but I just can't be bothered to pack them. I have never felt underdressed on formal night.

10-22-2003, 08:43 PM
It's a CM thing... we book seperately. We aren't given a specific room that way they can better accomidate guests--upgrades/ ajoining rooms, etc... And also they can fill the ship better, balance out the passagers. It's a set price and we get what we get---on my 3/03 cruise I got one of the "noisy" rooms underneath Wavebands... needless to say, was a little noisier then I would have prefered, but hey can't complain when you are on a Disney cruise... anything is great.
TChrist05

If she is a CM it is always cheaper for them, and other people can't get their rate anyway..
GTY means guarantee, If you book a Cat 11 and end up with a cat 11 gty (you can't request a gty rate) that means that you are guaranteed a cat 11 or HIGHER. We booked a cat 11, got a cat 11 gty and ended up with a cat 8!

Welcome aboard DisneyGator01! You'll be soooo glad that you've done a 7 day that it might be hard to go back to a 4 day cruise.
As far as shopping goes, it's been our experience that shopping is better in St. Marten that St. Thomas, although some stores will have the same prices. We definitely liked the shopping better on the Eastern over the western itinerary hands down.
BTW, we got our docs two days ago via UPS. I can't wait!!!!!!

We were on the Wonder 4 day right after Thanksgiving and the ship was fully decorated for Christmas. I assume the Magic is the same. Big Christmas tree next to the stairway in the Atrium, Gingerbread House by Preludes, and other decorations throughout. Even a small tree that I think they got from Snoopy and Linus on top of the highest point on the ship. They had a Christmas tree lighting ceremony the first night between early seating and late (8pm) where one family along with M & M got to throw real pixie dust on the tree and it magically lit (lighted?). Even included "snow" which was a real treat for us Floridians. It was true Florida snow - never melted!

There is on the theme park home page a place where you can see where holiday decorating starts for all disney parks and ships. The Magic, is scheduled for decorating from Dec 1-6, while we are on it! But who knows, they might treat us and have it done when we get there!
We cancelled our Trunk Bay excursion and are going to do it ourselves, we want more time on the beach! But we are still doing the Eagle Catamaran!
I feel sorry for your New England snow, I am in Indiana and I am complaining, but I guess I should feel lucky it is only about 55-60 degrees here.
It is soon, hang tight! We will be sailing on beautiful blue waters before you know it! I was only a while a go when we are counting down from 100+ days.

One of my sons and family are taking the Butterfly Farm tour also.
Most of the rest of the group plans on doing beach trips on their own, or just stay on the ship and take advantage of the uncrowds.
Our group of 22 has early seating. Since all the grandkids are 6 or under we anticipate we will get APLAPLA rotation. However, I sent an email to DU stating even though we have no control over our rotation, we would prefer PLAPLAP with two 8 top and one 6 top tables with the same servers. Got a nice reply from Tammy at DU stating it doesn't hurt to let Disney know our preferences and she passed them on to her DCL contact. Be interesting to see if we get our request!

We booked late so we couldn't get early seating. We'll try to get it changed when we board.
We aren't doing any excursions. We've been to St Thomas lots of times and St Maarten on 4 other cruises so we don't need Island tours and our son is too young for any other excursions. We usually do snorkel tours, but not this time with a 4 year old.
In St Thomas we're going to Magen's Bay in the morning and then I'm going downtown for shopping later in the afternoon while the boys (DH and DS) play in the pool on the ship. We'll be doing the same thing in St Maarten, but I'm not sure what beach yet. I'm looking for someplace with a nice beach, chairs to rent, drinks for sale, bathroom. We used to go to Mullet Bay but I'm not sure it has the amenities after the hurricane a few years ago. Maybe Dawn Beach or the one right in town. Does anyone know any others?

We are spending just one day at WDW after the cruise - the Saturday that we get back. We'll be flying home on Sunday. It will be like a tease. Originally I was going to do a 3-4 day cruise and 4-5 days at WDW so I could get my annual Disney "fix". But then we decided that 3-4 day cruise was too short. Greetings all!
I see many posts regarding a "meet". Some have suggested WDW Thurs. or Friday. We will be at DisneyQuest on Thurs. and Epcot on Friday. It might be difficult to arrange with everyone going in a different direction. Why don't we meet on the ship? Does anyone remember the name of that room that can be used for meetings on the ship? Or perhaps just topside, near a particular landmark? I'll bring the sign, if we can agree on a spot/time to meet. Don't make it too early. We don't turn our car in until 12:30 p.m. Probably leave from the airport about on Mears (Disney bus) about 1:00 p.m.
I can't wait to meet you all. Bring kids to the meet too, if you can keep up with them for that long. My DSs 16 &11 are veterans at Oceaner's Lab and Common Grounds. They would love to have some "new friends" even before the kids centers open.
Post some suggested meeting locations.

Yah--the sail away party on deck 10. Look for a group with the big Mickey hands that the CM's on land wave good bye with--cuz our group will have them. Also I think Lampskies will be recognizeable as the one w/ the ESPN mug glued to his hands. LOL. Wait--that sounds like an exact description of my husband! Less then one month to go now! WooHoo!!
So our official DIS meet is Sail Away Party, deck 10, correct?
How about we do a 11/29 Eastern Roll Call, I know we did one earlier in the thread, but this will help us newbies know everyone who is going so far.. our name, where we are from.. things like that!
I'll go first :)
I'm Shelley (25) from Orlando Fl--this will be my 4th DCL cruise and First 7 day DCL cruise!!
I'll be sailing with my Grandmother, this will be her 2nd DCL cruise, and first 7 day DCL cruise.

Hi everyone. Just 4 weeks today!!!!
My name is Diane and I will be cruising with my DH (Rick) and my DS4 (Matt). It's Matt's first cruise but Rick and I cruised a lot (10+) before Matt. But this is our first Disney Cruise. We enjoyed all the other cruise lines, but picked Disney for Matt - the other kids, the clubs and especially the fact that everyone on the ship knows there will be kids all over the place.
I am so excited. It has been 4 years since our last cruise and we are ready for this one. Looking forward to that Keg that Lampskies is bringing. So kind of you to carry it on board for our Meet. Should we bring our own mugs?

Gina,
Idiots?? Not on our cruise!
That reminds me of a quote: "There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots" Doesn't apply to 11/29.
Anyway, back to your question, formal night is Sunday, but your menu will be the normal rotation meal for whichever dining location you have that night. Thursday is Semi formal night with the Captains Gala menu (lobster, etc.) It always seems to me they ought to switch formal and semi formal nights to have formal with the fancy menu.
Regarding rotation, the first you will know that is at check in. It will show up on your KTTW card.

I'm afraid I'm suffering from a serious problem! I don't have any motivation for anything at all UNLESS it is cruise-related! I've been creating and re-creating packing lists, made a countdown calendar, went shopping this weekend JUST to pick up cruise things, including a new dress (which I really didn't need, but it was "such a great price"). My spare bedroom is now full of open suitcases and clothes (which I pack and repack just to do something related to our cruise). I hope I don't have any unexpected guests between now and the day we leave - I don't know where they will sleep! And in my "spare" time, you can find me browsing these boards (okay, most of the time I am browsing these boards)!
Anyone else experiencing this incredible phenomenon, or is it just me???
By the way, to catch up on a few topics - my DH will not be wearing a tux, either - a coat & tie for both nights suits him well (actually, this is the first cruise where he hasn't complained about dressing up at all)!
We'll probably hit the buffet soon after we get on board (or soon after making Palo reservations).
Tom, thanks for the info about Haunted Mansion! I hope that is the movie playing. We don't get to the movies often, so this will be a special treat for us.

Obsessed--you're not alone! I wanted to pack my 7 month old's suitcase about a week ago and my husband told me it'd be best to wait(I guess 5 weeks out is a LITTLE early). We all usually head straight to PC for the buffet, but decided this time it'd be nice to sit out on deck at Topsiders--for all the family w/ us who haven't been on the ship before. I will probably be a nervous wreck like last cruise until I am done making both Palo dinner and brunch reservations. Last time I took care of everyone's (6 of us) but this time w/ 16 adults--I'll need help. The only thing in the spa I usually do is the Rainforest so no rush there. I need to go buy myself some clothes since things don't fit exactly the same as they did pre-pregnancy--I've spent the past 6 months shopping for cruise outfits for my dd (needless to say she's set!).
No tux for dh either. He has a really nice Perry Ellis sports jacket and pants and some beautiful shirts for underneath. I think he looks very dressy even if he wears no tie, too.
Alright--enough for now!!

Ron - We have the late seating! That is what we wanted, that way we get more time to do what we want before dinner. Plus, not that I dislike kids, but this is an "adult" trip for us so there are less kids at the late seating!
And yes....I have the vacation fever too! Everyday I am planning and typing things up on the computer. I am thinking about things I need to get to go. I have already hit all the stores and destroyed their summer clothing, especially at old navy. They have great sales, $4.99 for shirts and shorts! Everything I think about is cruise related. It would be great to introduce daughters. It may make the introduction to the Kids Lab a little easier. My 8 year old can sometimes be shy when thrown into new situations. On our prior trips she did the camp with her sister, so the lab will be new to her. She is excited to be old enough to go to Lab. I think the activities will excite her more. I don't care what room--just get me on the ship!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes, Ron, my dh is definitely practicing raising his tolerance level..................you'll know him by his ever present goofy beer induced grin!! (he loves cruises because he can even indulge in a girlie drink--pina colada or daiquiri--w/out being laughed at!).

Hey Amanda,
When I receive our docs you will probably feel the earth move down in Melbourne. I agree with Ron regarding a dark room. When Matthew was a baby he would wake up as soon as the sun was up. When you are on vaction who wants to get up at 6am. NOT!!! Tell Ron, Gary and I will have a girlie drink with him. I promise I will not laugh. Maybe just a giggle.

Hi, Susan
I live in Mt. Airy, MD which is about an hour west of Baltimore. We sometimes take 17 through Fredericksburg on our way to Kings Dominion or Richmond or something. We're almost neighbors!
Our boys are the same age, too. Maybe we can introduce them to each other before they go to the kids club - it could be easier for them if they "know" someone before they get there.
I'm looking forward to the wine tasting "date"! Sorry, I don't know if and when it fills up. I'll do some browsing on the boards unless someone here knows.

Yah--my dad already has his Bob Marley cd out and ready to bring to my house the evening before for our little pre-cruise party.
I'd love to do the wine tasting thing--think I'll have to see if Shawn will watch our 7 month old--think it's only fair since he already has the following activities planned:
Sat--watch his Miami Canes play (3.5-4 hrs)
Sun--watch his St. Louis Rams play(3.5-4 hrs)
And then golfing at Mahogany Run(4 hrs. for golf
only--another couple for transportation)
So what do you think--think I deserve a little more than the Rainforest pass?? Count me in--we need to make sure we can all sign up together. My brother and his friend I think are extremely interested--and they're hilarious.......I say we get it set up!

Ok, izzinimac and gassmandy have 2 different ideas of formal and semi formal nights. Gassmandy says it is on thursday night and sunday is the semi-formal night, which would make sense to me since thursday is the Captains Gala. Can someone please clarify?

Ok, here is another one. When we go to St. Maarten, do we still have dining as usual? So all 7 nights we rotate between the 3 restaurants? Sorry for asking so many questions but I want to make sure I plan palo for 2 nights making sure we miss our rotations in 2 different restaurants, I would hate to miss animators palate twice!

Gina,
I agree that formal night makes more sense on Thurday, but the posts I have seen from recent returning cruisers and the most recent Navigators show Sunday as Formal and Thursday as Semi formal. I think the reason they do that is that Sunday is also the night of the Captains Reception before or after dinner in the atrium. I think it is a photo op to get pictures with the Captain in his dress uniform. From a dining standpoint, Thursday still makes the most sense for formal. One thing I have noted is that it has switched back and forth over the past year, so Lampskies may be right yet!
Regarding Palo, last I heard you could only make one dinner reservation per cabin. Some people get around that by going together as two couples with one room signing up one night for four people and the other room doing the same on a different night. You can have both a dinner reservation and brunch reservation, though. Do the brunch - I think it is much better than dinner!

Thanks for the info! As far as Palo goes, I heard on the 7 day you could make reservations for Palo twice. But no matter, we will go twice since we have 2 different cabins and four people. I have never done the brunch but I love the dinner! The filet mignon was outstanding!
Thanks for the info!

Actually--I don't think I said anything about dress codes per night yet, but I do agree it's CONFUSING. I know it used to be Sun=semi form. and Thurs=formal(capt. gala). And then like my dad said--more recent cruisers came back and said it flip flopped, making formal now on Sunday(which I agree--I'd prefer it on Capt. gala night so I could drip some drawn butter for my lobster all over my dress--lol). BUT..........I just checked out the navigators on Barb's site for the 10/11/03 cruise (it WAS a western one though--first one after dry dock I believe) and if you scroll down per day--MONDAY was formal night and the Capt. Gala was semi-formal (thurs.). Of course they're in Key west on Sun---and we're at sea so that's why they have formal Monday while ours is Sunday. I wear a black dresses for both--and just accessorize more for formal. I think we're all entering "Operation Short Timers" so we're allowed to be confused and flustered!!!lol!:hyper: :hyper:
And definitely do the brunch--I loved the dinner--was the best one for sure--so you'll love brunch!

Gina,
Definitely try the brunch. We had never tried it until our last 7 day cruise and fell in love with it. It is overwhelming! Starts off with a "tour" by your host(ess) of all that is available. There were Alaskan King Crab Legs, already peeled shrimp much better than the ones at first lunch after boarding, all kinds of cheeses, smoked fish, salads, pastries, omlettes, on and on and on....Probably one of the best single bites I have ever taken in my life was a speciality our host brought us. They have a sweet scandanavian bread (can never remember its name) that has an almond flavoring to it. Anyway, he toasted a few pieces and brought it to the table along with pureed fresh rasberries and real whipped cream. Put those on the toast and I thought I had died and gone to heaven! After all that, you get a hot meal which typically consists of beef tenderloin, a chicken dish,or Tilapia. Of course, there is dessert, including a fruit pizza! I have to stop now - I am drooling on my keyboard just thinking about it!

Gina...........the first "semi-formal" dinner depends on you "rotation". Not all rotations are the same. Some of us may start saturday at "parrot cay", some may start at "luninares" and some may start at the "formal" dining area. (Tritons on the Wonder). Thus some will be "semi formal" on Sat some on Sun and some on Mon.............Someone correct me if I'm wrong. And you will not know the "rotation" until you get you KTTW card. Am I correct????

DH and I are planning on going to brunch but, I'm not sure what day. We are going to try to get dinner reservations at Palos for Tues or Wed. Lampskies,
Sounds like there is confusion on dining rotation and formal/semiformal nites. As an obsessive studier of old Navigator's, here is what I know about the whole subject. Rotation has no relation to Formal/Semiformal/Tropical dress nights. No matter what rotation you are on, formal night will be on Sunday and semiformal will be on Thursday. So some people will have formal in Lumieres, some in Animators Palate, and some in Parrots Cay. Same with semi formal and tropical. It all depends on where you are eating on Sunday (Formal), Tuesday(Tropical) and Thursday (Semiformal)... Thats why some folks are concerned about there rotation. The one I like best is PLAPLAP, which puts you in Lumieres for formal (Sunday), ParrotsCay for Tropical (Tuesday), and Animator's for semiFormal (Thursday). If you have LAPLAPL, you have Animators for Formal, Lumieres for Tropical, and ParrotsCay for SemiFormal. If you have APLAPLA you end up with ParrotsCay for Formal, Animators for Tropical, and Lumieres for Semi Formal. no matter what rotation, you will have the Resturant you are in regular menu the first three nights, followed by Tropicali on night 4 in all resturants, Around the World... on night 5, Captains Gala on night 6, and Best of .. on night 7.
I am so obsessive about this I have created a spreadsheet for each possible rotation which shows dates/dress/menu/character breakfast/etc so we can pick out the best days for those who want Palo brunch and Dinner.

Bob................hmmmmmmmm....So you mean if our formal night is in Parrots Cay I have to dress formal??? We have only been on the Wonder (twice) and Parrot Cay was tropical and Animators was casual and the other was formal.........so it's different on the Magic????............I guess I'll bring my "formal" hawaiian shirt just in case! LOL Parrot Cay wouldn't be the same in formal wear.........
izzinmac
11-06-2003, 04:02 PM
Lampskies,
Yea, its completely different than the Wonder, where dress all depends on when you rotate through Tritons. I think they tried to maintain the dress up in Lumieres on the Magic when they started the 7 day, PLUS formal night, PLUS semi formal. If you got the wrong rotation, you could end up having to dress up 3 or 4 nights. Now Lumieres has the same dress code as the others. The night determines the dress.
I have an old leisure suit or a Don Ho necktie. You can borrow whichever you want. Maybe both....a leisure suit with a Hawaiian necktie!!!!
Actually, with the age of your kids, you should be "prime" for the PLAPLAP rotation! We asked for that one-don't know if we will get it.

To all the DisWinos - I looked at a bunch of Navigators and it looks like wine tasting is only offered once - on Sunday at Mass (just kidding) Actually only once on Sunday at 2:15. I really thought it was more often than that. If a bunch of you go, maybe you could get a private session! This will be our first cruise and we have already had a pleasant suprise-we got upgraded. Maybe they feel bad cuz they cancelled our cruise last year-HA HA. All this talk of formal, semi-formal and dinner rotations has my head spinning. Isn't there only one formal night, and isn't it optional? How formal are we talking. Being a mom with three kids, formal is no longer in my dress code. Also, does anyone have suggestions on what you have to have with a baby? Do they provide any paraphenalia?
It's fun to read all your posts. It has taken me three days to figure out how to get my post on the right thread.

Ron,
That's funny about Palos, the DW (Crazy Momma/Susan) just said last night that maybe we should just do the Brunch at Palos. She doesn't want to miss the food at any of the Rotations. Its our 10th anniversary cruise so I'm fine as long as we get at least 1 meal just for Mom and Dad.
I'm going to post this in the other secton too, but we where reading over the docs last night and they said carry on luggage had to conform to Airline size specifications 9X14X22 I believe. Do they enforce this if you aren't flying?

Katrina
Welcome to our slighly crazy group. You are right about head spin from rotation info. Really doesn't matter much anyway, unless you are an obsessive planner. Just forget about it and enjoy the cruise! Formal goes anwhere from Dockers to Formal Wear, with the majority in coat and tie and dressy dresses. Avoid cut offs and t shirts and you will be OK!
I think you sent an email yesterday to all of us who were part of the Yahoo Group site created by Ron (Lampskies) One of your questions dealt with cruising with an 8 month old. We have never done that, but I have two daughters going on this cruise as part of our group. One will have an 8 1/2 month old and the other a 7 1/2 month old. The one with the 7 1/2 month old is Amanda(Gassmandy here). I do know they have converted one of the "ears" on the mickey pool for kids still in diapers. Basically they have turned it into a continually draining fountain type pool to keep the water fresh.

But the servers and everyone else made no mention and there were many people in polos. As a matter of fact, on our last cruise Dec 1 Wonder (replacement of cancelled Magic) Some people at the table next to us had on jeans and Harley shirts. The were allowed in..........they did get some looks.

Lostboyinva...............DCL tells you to bring a carry on with "stuff" for the day in the case of misplaced luggage. I believe the luggage is loaded on the ship thru deck 2 so the higher catagories take longer to get luggage placed outside their door. As far as carry on, on our last cruise Dec 1 Wonder (replacement of cancelled Magic) they had portable "airport scanners" before you entered the lobby. I believe I saw someone with a lorge suitcase that didn't fit thru the scanner and DCL tagged it and sent it to where the regular luggage goes. We bring our small duffle bags an 2 small carryon suitcases Just enough to pack a couple cases of my favorite bevergae.

I might get flamed a little.. but it's just my opinion.. come however you feel comfortable. All I care about is having a great meal, served to me by a great staff, and having fun with my tablemates. Fashion isn't my top priority. Now if you sat down at my table in your birthday suit, I might have a comment. But if you are Brad Pitt... I'd be willing to get past it.
In all seriousness.. there are dress guidelines. And just keep in mind that if you come to dinner in shorts and a t shirt, people might look. If you are comfortable with that, and would be more uncomfortable dressing up. Come how you want! It's your cruise.
But like Lampkies said, dockers, a polo.. maybe a jacket or nice buttondown on formal. You'll be fine. I say, anything but jeans and shorts and t-shirts blends in. There is a wide variety of attire on the cruise.

Ron--I posted another question on my "wine" thread--to see if it's offered more than Sunday--cause like you said--if they're not showing the games in sessions (can you see it now: swirling our wine to let it "breathe" while cursing out the refs for some awful call!) I will have to pass...............gotta watch my Rams. But I think I've read they do it at sea days???????We'll see.
Welcome Katrina--I'm taking my 7 1/2 month old girl. As far as dress goes--I wore a simple knee length sleeveless black dress for formal night and a different one for semi. I don't do bridesmaid or prom looking dresses!! And I didn't feel out of place. Shawn will wear khaki pants and a polo or button up short sleeved shirt for the 5 reg. nights and he has a sports jacket/pant set for the other 2. NO TIE!!!!!(good thing since we'd have to have my dad help him with it-lol). We're only doing Palo for brunch this time since I dare not leave Addison w/ family for Palo dinner-----that's her CRANKY time of day and typically only mommy will do!
