View Full Version : Summer Codes are ON THE WAY

Okay...here goes

I just got off the phone with a VERY polite CM at 9AM CT.
I asked him a barrage of questions..(I played stupid..pretending I had no idea what these boards say.)

He said...there will be new codes announced at some point this week. When the early summer codes came out he said they came out at 1:30 in the afternoon back then for ressies up to July 3rd.

The codes out right now are for DC members with UPH passes too.

The AP rate for the summer (he thinks) will be the SAME as what is out there now up to July 3rd. $74 for mods before tax...$83 total.

I have the Comeback rate ...we paid $867 for 9 nights at Riverside.

When the new AP rate comes out..and if he is correct , I can get 10 nights at POR for $830 with the AP rate.

He kept reiterating that these new codes are going to be "out of this world" !!!!!!

I asked him many q's about the POFQ-POR renovations. ....
as of now POFQ is closed and there are no plans to change anyones ressies for POR ...he did say they may stop taking ressies for POR but would NOT switch anyone who already has a reservation.

Hope this helps....and if he is correct we are going to WDW for 10 nights instead of 9.

Thank you for taking the time to post this information :) I'm so anxious to book our room for our August surprise birthday trip for my hubby - he thinks we're going to New Hampshire!! that's not a big deal since we live in Maine. Thanks again - I can't wait!!

well I was just whining about AP holders being left out! Glad to hear that we aren't being totally forgotten. However Mousesavers says that the package can equate to 43% off room and tickets and we certainly don't get 43% off admission as AP holders unless we go alot.

Hi BVC23...(fellow..Illinoisan )

He did go over the benfits of the other packages with these codes....

If we were NOT getting AP's....I would certainly get the package deal they are offering. It does seem to be a BIG money saver.

I find what the CM said to be very interesting. Mary at Mousesavers, usually one in the know about codes says she doesn't think room only codes or AP rates will be released during this time, since she believes WDW will sell out with the Fairytale promotion. So, I guess we should stay tuned......

I just called CRO and booked one of these packages; I ended up choosing the Wilderness Lodge for 6 nights (August 16-22); the cast member told me I will get the UMP which includes the 4 theme parks, water parks, DisneyQuest, and Pleasure Island. She also said we would get a pin and framed picture of disney characters. The price I was quoted includes all taxes...it's $1,674.29. Does this sound like a good deal? I don't usually buy anything but park hoppers so this time we could go to the water parks and DisneyQuest for a change. I hope I did the right thing. She also quoted me the following prices for the hotels listed during our timeframe:

Grand Flo $2,298.77
POR $1,429.01
BoardWalk $2,075.69

I forgot to ask her where and when I would pick up our passes, pin, and photo. Also, she did say these were standard view rooms. Any confirmation of a good deal would be greatly appreciated!!

I called to check room only rates through the DC this evening and spoke to the reservationist at leangth about the possibility of room only codes, specifically AP rates. This is what one agent said, at 7:15 EST on May 6...take it for what it's worth (which probably isn't much :) )

I was told that this fairytale package is the "big deal" discount for the time being....I expressed my displeasure in the UPH and was really interested in room only rates. He did some digging around and found nothing to suggest that any room only rates are coming any time soon. In fact, he said that the AP rates "probably" wouldn't be released until the current ones are close to expiration. He was also quick to say that the agents are often the last to know about discounts.

Poly GV was already sold out for the dates I was interested in pricing--it was sold out prior to the release of the Fairytale package, so I am outta luck for the time being.

Madge....Thanks for posting

isn't it something how some CM's tell you one thing and then you hear something different from another.

When you said..."when the current AP rate runs out"...do you think the AP rate for late summer will come out AFTER July 3rd ?

Thanks

When you said..."when the current AP rate runs out"...do you think the AP rate for late summer will come out AFTER July 3rd ?

That was the definite impression this CM gave me...however, he said something about an AP package or something that doesn't expire until August. I have no idea what that means, unless it is the Disney Visa package promo.....these poor people, asked so many questions.....you'd think that the management would have them all on the same page regarding rate information.

I called this morning just to ask about room only discounts and spoke to two different CM's who assured me that AP discounts are on the way..but NOT to expect them anytime soon.

Disney will be waiting to see the results of the current promition.

I am just going to keep a positive attitude and hope for the best. Because what ever happens..I'm going to Disney anyway!:D

Madge...I could not agree with you more.

I have read , it seems like 1000 post today, and everyone has different stories of what the CM's told them .

Can you imagine if 100 of us "DISers" worked for a company and kept on giving wrong or false information....we would be fired !!

I have been waiting for the room only codes to come out and Disney drops this "big bomb" of a deal!! Where was this deal last year, darn it!! Wow, this is going to be great for many...(maybe too many??);) I have my fingers crossed they will have some rooms left over to discount. I will have to be patient....which is sooooo hard when you are too excited. Keep watching...and posting those facts. Thanks

Great thread!!

Just called again this AM....nothing new. As long as I can dial the 1-800 number I will keep checking as I am sure everyone else will be.

In case someone does not know, the toll-free number it is
1-800-***-****. They say its for DC members but I have had a few family and friends call it (they are not DC members) and they never had a problem.

I booked this package yesterday when I read about it on these boards; I booked WL for 6 nights in August for $1,674.29. Well, last night after a lengthy discussion with my family I called back to change it to the Boardwalk Resort; the Fairytale package price is $2,075.69 a savings of $858. We've wanted to stay at this resort for years and this seems to be the best deal we'll be able to get. I'm just not sure about using all of the features of the UPH passes but I figured out the costs if we paid rack rate and bought 5 day hoppers and we still save money. Now if a really good "room only" code comes out that's a different story. By the way if anyone is wondering; the passes will be imbedded onto your room key mag stripe when you check in and you will be given a coupon to redeem in one of the gift shops to redeem for your pin and framed print. Also, I asked the CM to price out the Contemporary Tower for that time as well on the package and the price is $2,280.89 - this is for 2 adults and one junior aged 13 (which I believe is considered an adult in Disney pricing). Good luck to all - isn't this just so much fun:Pinkbounc

The DC Toll free number is a perk of a paid for membership - <i>that</i> is the reason they say it's for DC members. Posting the number on these boards is not allowed.

Thanks

Hello All!
I called this morning and was told by two different CRO reps that AP's are going to be released that will run till August 23, 2003. They stated to me that they could not tell me any of the details, but I asked could you tell me is it greater then a week or less than a week before the AP's are released and she stated around a week until AP's are released!! She was very polite and good and not giving me a direct anwser.

I'm greatful for my PAP's and the passes have already paid for themselfs, anything extra is a wonderful bonus. :)

Thanks Figaro for posting and calling CRO

Now , that makes me think the CM in my original post WAS telling me the truth as well as others who have called.

The more and more I read different post.....I would find it hard to believe Disney would leave the AP & PAP holders "out to dry" .
But my glass is half full. At least thats what I want to think.

He did say the AP rates were going to come out just a Q of when .

Kinggoofy -

I have every confidence that AP rates will be released shortly. I base this on the fact that I just made the deposit for the fairytale package. If my life holds true to form with this whole trip planning thing I expect the rates to be incredible. Which of course will just cause more confusion and consternation in my life.

My children are absolutely fed up with me at this point.

I just talked to a CM and I found the conversation VERY interesting. I had "booked" a Fairytale Magic package to get the rates for my friend yesterday. Well, today I called back to cancel it under the guise my DH wouldn't go again in August. Anyway, I said if AP rates come out, maybe I can get back in August. He told me that when they were in the meeting when this promotion was announced, the first question asked was what about the passholders. The response they were given, was that they MIGHT do some sort AP rates, but not for a while. They wanted to see how this promotion went first, and then they might work something out for the passholders. He also told me that if you wanted discounts this summer, they were going to require people to buy the passes as well, so I got the impression that there would be NO room only codes for the general public. He also said they anticipate this promotion going VERY well, and if they do some sort of AP discount it would be VERY limited in availability. He told me I should have kept this package, since it was a good price, but he could understand why I didn't want to since I was a passholder (I never told him, must be in my "file"). So, those of us waiting for AP codes or room only codes, I definately didn't get a good feeling from this CM.

I'm tired of all the game playing. :( At least I know I'm getting 15% off my "room only" rate by using my AAA membership. If Disney wants to start pushing pkg. deals won't AP sales suffer?

Oh No you booked it too? Well, now we won't know if it was you booking it or me booking it that will cause the AP rates to come out!

We just didn't have great rates with what we had booked, so we decided this package was better than nothing, and it saved us about $450 from what we were going to pay, plus upgraded our room from standard to waterview, and gave us another day at the parks.

I'll still be looking for AP rates or codes, but all the CM's I've talked to in the last couple days keep saying that this DC FT package, plus the FT package open to the general public soon, are the truly "big deals" this summer.http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/family/life.gif

Ohmigod! This waiting and speculating is extremely stressful! I am going in June (staying on points) and trying to decide about the purchase of annual passes. This new twist on codes (including tix) has me more confused than ever! My family tends to do "day on/day off" at the parks so I don't like those UPH's. But if they are the key to a good room rate, well... Quick, somebody tell me how to win the lottery so I can buy more DVC points...

Cindala,

Not only did I book it, I put a deposit down. $200 to be exact. It was 200 because of the room only reservation on the last day. Who knows, they might come out with buy 1 AP get 1 free and 75% off all rooms for the entire year with no blackout dates. This whole mess is because I got wise to the beauty of AP's thanks to this board. Unfortunatley, I only found this board a year ago and it was after having paid of my reservation balance and probably when the cancellation penalty kicked in.

Thanks for keeping us all up to date on the latest from CRO about AP rates. Do any of you think this might be a way of encouraging people who might buy one AP and park hoppers for everyone else to see these packages as comparable savings? I also think they want to encourage people to stay at WDW for the typical week vacation instead if venturing to the other parks.

Thanks for a great positive thread King Goofy and everyone else. Congratulations to all who can use these AP rates.

BTW if you call and can't get your first choice of hotel for your dates, don't give up. Last summer we planned a trip a month or so out and at first I could only get our 3rd choice of hotels. Eventually I got all nights at our first choice.

The glass is now FULL.

We are so excited that we decided to book Thursday night the Aug. 14th too. 10 nights in Disney.

I posted on another thread...our August trip was the "comeback rate" which turned out to be almost the same as the AP rate...

BUT....we saved our family almost $500 . They are joining us from Aug. 20th - 24th. 2 Rooms are POR.

a BIG thanks to all who kept everyone else informed. Its nice to come to a place (these boards) where this is all we can worry about.

Someone else posted on another thread..."what are we going to whine abut now".

Give us a few days....we'll think of something.

Thanks to ALL !!!!!!!!

That would have been me wondering what we can whine about now. For the past several days I didn't even think about the fact that this whole Disney trip involves an AIRPLANE:eek: That gives me something to stress about for the next 21/2 months.

What do you think we have been discussing (arguing) about the past 3 hours.....airfare AND car rental .

Do we fly out early on the 14th...afternoon...or night...????

Why are the employees at National car such a bunch of "goofs" ?

lets try Alamo or something else.

DOES IT EVER END ??????????

kinggoofy -

Since I won't be renting a car I can't help you out there and I got good airfare $465 total for three out La Guardia (now there is something worry about). I just hate to fly and it has been years since I have gotten a plane that didn't have a middle row of seats. Last year - our first time at WDW we took the train.

I do have another thing to figure out - how am I going to figure out a way to say "hoop dee do revue" out loud so that I can make reservations for that.

Thanks for replying to my posts...as you have read this trip started out as a complete surprise for my hubby's 40th this August. It's still a surprise but I had to really convince myself that the extra money for Boardwalk was worth it this week and asked him a lot of suspicious questions. I think he knows something is up but has no clue as to if/when we are going to see the Mouse. So you guys really enjoy Boardwalk? We've never stayed there but have always admired it; I really like the close entrances to Epcot and MGM. My daughter will love the ESPN restaurant and the swimming pool area. Do you have any room recommendations? I booked the standard view and asked for non-smoking and a top floor if possible. Thanks for any information. Can't wait until August 16th!!

HamHam,

The BW is becoming my favorite resort, though our family really likes the Poly, as evidenced by our 12 - 13 visits there.
The difference in price you received from the WL is worth every penny. I do like WL, but location, location, location makes a difference. We usually visit 5 - 10 different resorts each trip to eat, shop or just look around.

Spoodles has a very good breakfast, check out the menus if you haven't already: http://wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm
Don't forget the restaurants at the hotels nearby, Swan&Dolphin, Y&B Club. You can also run over to Epcot just for lunch or dinner. Your daughter might enjoy Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club, we usually stop by here every trip, try to stay away at park closing time though, it can get very crowded. One of my favorite non-character breakfast buffets is Yacht Club Galley.

We've had a water view room twice which is very nice. Once above the pizza stand and once just above and to the left of the Bellvue balcony. We always try to get a room with a balcony. Also, some of the rooms can be quite a walk from the lobby, you may want to request a room closer to there. Remember the earlier in the day you check-in, the better your chance of getting the room you want. If our flight is later in the day, we'll stay off-site the first night and check-in by 6:00 - 7:00am, then have breakfast and hit the parks.

If you like, I can scan some maps / brochures from the BW check-in package and e-mail them to you, I'll need your address. Can't do this until tomorrow though, we've got Mothers Day plans the rest of the day.

Called 5/10/03 (last night) avout the Fairytale Pkg. for Aug. 18th thru Aug. 23rd. The price was $2,054.15 for BW Standard View. I inquired about room only AP rates and CM told me they were JUST RELEASED (for reservations thru 8/23). Room only rate for 5 nights was $1,137. ($227.46 a night incl. tax)
