Karebear....It depends on what kind of med it is...my advice is to 1. Ask your pharmicist.
2. Look up the drug on the internet.
I have found that some antiboitics can help with weight loss, because it gives you..umm.....how can I say this....the runs!!! LOL!!

Karebear1, a little known side effect of antibiotics is that for some people, they can be very depressing. Your feelings of vulnerability may be due in part from that.
Good luck, and just stick with your program. Take it one day at a time.

When I had a strep throat (ugh!) back in February, I was on Zithromax and I lost 7 pounds in one week. I find antibiotics make me lose my appetite. Or maybe it was because I couldn't swallow and lived on diet ginger ale for a week.

As a pharmacist, the side effects I notice reported most often with many antibiotics are gastrointestinal in nature. So I think you'd have a greater chance of weight loss rather than gain while on most of them.

Thanks everyone- you've all eliviated my fears- let's just hope it turns out the way I want it to.... results in losing weight rather then being stagnent or gaining!
