Using this link that I got from these boards http://www.familynetwork.com/members/update.php?sid=yEfdKL57
Ordered the universal fan club card (free-not even a shipping charge)! Called HR yesterday and got the rate of $129 for 1 night in August.
Thought about ordering the ent book, but this card was free. Thanks for the great information on these boards. Other benefits of the fan club card are rest, ticket, and merchandise discounts.
Use this link for all the benefits http://198.12.17.76/fanclub/memberorlando.asp
Also got $5 coupon for Seaworld. My family of 4 can go watch some fish for $144 by saving $20 from using the Florida vacation kit from the family network.
Right now the universal web site has double discount on multi-day passes.
http://198.12.17.76/fanclub/buytickets.htm
Does anyone know of any better deals on tickets? Applied for the discover card but havn't received it yet for the special they have.
Thanks again for all of your help!

Hi cbrlmgr! I just checked on this website and it asks me to register. At that time it comes up with a $49.95 fee. You got yours free. Just wondering how? Would like to get it also if I can. Thanks for any help!

Sorry the links didn't work in the post.
Meagansmom: Not sure about the 49.95 fee, just filled out a form with a user name, password, and email account name that I made up. The next page that asks about personal information I skipped. I believe you are just registering and not becoming a menber.
Now go to theme park discounts near the bottom of the page. That link will get you the sea world coupons plus the fan club card. You don't have to and I repeat do not have to provide any credit card information and there is no shipping or handling fees.
It took about 4 or 5 days to get the fan club card and fish coupons in my mailbox.
Try this link, it may or may not work.

Glad you got the fan club card ordered. There is not an expiration date on the card. There is also a toll free number for more information about the benefits the card has to offer other than the web site at

The number is 1-888-777-2131.

Did you receive an actual card or was it a coupon for the card? When I placed the order, it says it's a coupon for the FanClub card. Thanks for letting us know about this. :D
cbrlmgr
05-27-2001, 06:27 PM
The fan club card is an actual card that you cut out of the brochure that is sent. I'ts paper and about the size of a credit card. I also recieved a fan club card from my work wich is the same thing I got from the family netwrok site. I ordered the one from the family network to see if it was the same thing I already had, and it was.
Any more questions I'll be happy to answer.:smooth:

Glad you finaly got your card. The way I look at the deal is this: You got a valid authentic card through a reputable company and are using it for non-fraudulent purposes. It's like using a code you got off the internet to book a room at a resort in Disney and save $30 a night(all stars $49 Aug 9-11 lol).
The name of the game is making money. The corporations in Florida are there to capitalize on their reputation of the vacation capial of the world and make the most money they can. With every big plan, there is always a loop hole.
If a few smart savy DIS board people like us come up with a few ways to save some bucks; I belive they will say "so what" The other 99 % of the people down there on vacation will spend the $240 a night at the HR and will wait in line to buy their tickets for full price while spending $340 on their compact rental car for the week.
Most people haven't even heard of priceline or hotwire. A few of us use the resources of the internet and seek all the information we can find, to save the most money we can.
We all work hard for our money, and when it's time to splurge, we go for "the best bang for our buck".
We use these boards and the information they contain to give our families and ourselves what we deserve. "THE BEST VACATION EVER".
Thanks for letting me express my opinion!

Your welcome.
I'm getting ready to post another good money saver on tickets. Been looking for two months on the best bargains for tickets and hit the jackpot.
Right now I'm doing research on the company to make sure they are legit. So far they are checking out.
Don't want to post a "rotten egg".

I just read the fan club benefits. I was wondering if, when I check into the HRH I should show both my Loews First Card and my Fan Club Card? Or does that look too tacky? Also, do you think that discounts are given at the hotel restaurants with the Fan Club Card? Thanks again.

I'm going to use my Loews card and any other cards I think they may take. Although the fan club card cannot be combined withany other offer, they may make an exception.
You are only using the fan club card for the discount reservation when you check in so they should honor the Lowes card. You will never know if you don't try!
Good Luck!

Got my Fan Club Card today! Thanks cbrlmgr!:) :) :)
If I'm not mistaken, the Loews card gets you other perks, along with discount rates. There's something about snacks and drinks in your room, and I believe the daily newspaper. I had to pick some of these things when I received my card. So, you can use the FanClub card for the room rate and the Loews card for the extra amenities. They should accept that. Plus, the more you use your Loews card, the faster you get into a new level.

I went to the link which took me to a "family" membership page. When I went to the "fan club" link, I read the small print at the bottom. Is the "family" membership the same as the fan club membership? I don't want to sign up for the family membership and then get a $49 bill in the mail a month later.
Eric
*FAN CLUB membership is available from your employee services or Human Resources Department. Fan Club cards are issued through your employer and not to individuals. On the second page, when you sign in, there is a link at the top of the page that says I believe "skip this page" It is the page where you enter your personal information. If you skip that page you won't have to enter a credit card number.
If you enter any information on that page it won't work.

I must be a complete idiot  On the first page I hit the registration, fill in name, email, password (2X) and submit. The second page comes up with credit card info needed.
I could not find a 'skip this page' anywhere. In big green letters it says - Please provide payment information. You will be notified via email when your registration has been approved. (2-3 business days.)
I must not be destined to get all those great benefits :(
Any other suggestions??

Millerglass: The family site and fan club card are two different things. The fan club card is given to employers and organizations as a "perk" for their employees and members.
The family site is an organization that you need to become a member of to get the benefits.
I stumbled on a loop-hole to join the organization for free and shared it here at this board in appreciation for all the help that I receive at this site.
Because of the number of new members they were getting, they were alerted to the programming error and corrected the problem. No more free memberships.
Keep searching and you may get lucky like I did.

My membership still works. Just ordered member benefits for bush gardens and seaworld for free.:)
You can still get an enternainment rate at the HR with an entertainment book coupon. The rate is a little cheaper than the fan club rate (by about $12).
I remember seeing a coupon for $10 off the entertainment book somewhere, can't rember where.
Should have bookmarked the site.

What they said they are sending me is a fan club COUPON. What is that? Is that the same thing? Also if you order EC book do you have to order the Orlando book or is the coupon for HRH in all the EC books? Trying to get into HRH with either Fan Club card or EC book and going in a few weeks so don't have much time!

I hope you all can sort me out of my confussion.
I have the DC card that say "entertainment" on the back of it
but its no good for the HRH entertainment discount, right?
OK, I joined the FAN club for free thanks to help on this board
but their discount is not as good as the entertainment one.
Ok, I am ready to buy the "Orlando Book" which gives me a
different " entertainment " card that I can use at the HRH.
Then I read a post on this board saying you can "buy your local
book, you don't need to buy an Orlando one". This has more
appeal to me because I don't plan on going outside the parks
any as we won't have a car, however I don't want to buy the
wronge card or book or what ever it is I am supposed to buy.
Whats a person to do???
Someone take pity on me and explain to me the right path.
Thanks

They HRH will honor it and you can use the coupons and cards for your
local restaurants at home.

Although the $49.95 fee has been waived, the Fan Club card is no longer available. I signed up and went to the Theme Park area. Found the Universal area and clicked to get the Fun Club Coupon. Got the screen where you click to order and it comes up and says "this item has been removed." Oh well - must have had too many requests.
Anyone find another source or a way around this?

Wintertime,
I've never bought my Entertainment Book at a book store, but you can call Barnes and Noble and see. When are you going to HRH? The Enitertainment book for 2001 expires Nov.1. If you're going after that, you can make your reservations now at the Entertainment rate and buy the new book before you go.
If you can't find one to buy in a store or through a charity, then get it from www.entertainment.com

Thanks so much for all the information.
I used your link to order the entertainment book for my local area.
It was only $10.00 plus shipping, thanks to the $10.00 off per
book offer they are running right now. That a great deal to
qualify me for the entertainment rate of $117.50 that I booked
for October. Thanks for taking the time to explan it to me!

Thanks for the info. I am gonna see if I can get a fan club card.I have gotten the HRC card, ETcard, AAAcard, and the Lowes first card...I have only had luck with the aaa card. The dates I wanted in July were not open for any discounts. I live in Florida so I really don't want to stay at the HRH without a discount. It only takes us 3 hours to drive up there, so I am pretty flexable as far as the dates go.
