I post mostly on the Collectors board, but I check in here almost every day. I am from Bridgeport, CT.
There is a huge bunch of pin collectors in CT. We get together once a month on the 2nd Saturday of each month to discuss Disney, trade pins, and have a great time together. We meet at the Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, in the little seating area under the escalator in front of the Rainforest Cafe. We have lunch at Rainforest Cafe then head over to Au Bon Pain for some coffee and more talk and trading.
Our meets begin at about 3 p.m. and we close the mall at 10 p.m.
Join us if you can, it's tons of fun. Peggie

New Canaan, CT here. We were down to HH just over 2 weeks ago and ran into neighbors from (literally) right around the corner while we were there. Her parents belong, and we did not know eachother was going to be there. Our girls are in kindergarten together, so they had a great time with eachother while there. Last year we ran into one of our school's kindergarten teachers there with her family. You just never know who is going to show up!

Fairfield here! I always wondered how many DVCer's were from CT.

VMS--how was dinner with Chef Gordon? I see from your countdown you did it while at HHI. We are going to OKW and then HHI in August and have a reservation with Chef Gordon and can't wait.

Anyone else planning a trip soon?

Gordon was fabulous! We realized we did "A Private Affair" two years in a row exactly on the same day. (Unfortunately our school break is different next year, so we will skip HH for one year.) Not only is he a wonderful chef, he is so interesting to talk with and very personable. Make sure you get the crabcakes, they are out of this world. We got them last year, and he will give you the recipe, and I have made them at home. This year we got the Chocolate Pots-de-Creme for dessert. If you like chocolate, they are not to be missed!

Enjoy your trip! I am so sad we will not be going for two years...

We lived in Stamford when we bought into DVC in 1999. Because of DVC, we enjoyed going to FL and WDW so much that when my husband was offerd the option to transfer from company headquarters in Greenwich to either Dallas or Tampa, we GRABBED the Tampa offer and have never looked back. We have been Bradenton Florida residents since July 2002, but still keep our ties to CT. Now we are just 1.5 hours from WDW!!!!

A. Target is awesome! I make sure to stop there at least once a weekend...and the Panera is now open too! :woohoo:

B. Lake Compounce was sold to a Spanish firm and as far as I know there's been no plans to shut it down - I read that they want to expand the water park.

Yes it counts.

Torrington is now so much like what Bristol used to be; smaller, friendlier, more rural and farmey (if that's a word or term).

We may also move in the future to a more New England Country Town Setting in the NW of CT or East of the River. Bristol is getting very busy.

Take care and enjoy.:santa:

Torrington is just starting to see the same kind of development. 202 is starting to get VERY built up, especially at the top of East Main. Looks like the opposite end of town, down by "old route 8" (aka 800) is starting to get more retail development, too with Loewes going in, etc. It's becoming, for good or bad, a lot less sleepy. Again, much like Bristol about 10+ years ago.

We're in New Hartford, so we're caught between the expansion in Avon and the expansion in Torrington. I'm guessing we're just a few years away from seeing our little, sleepy town explode along the route 44 corridor. Seems "sleepy" is becoming a dying breed, even in the NW corner. You almost have to head west of Winsted, into Norfolk, Colebrook, Canann, etc to find that kind of nice, "New England"-y setting. :(

Yeah, the Panera's not on my diet. :) But, BD (before diet), we used to LOVE the one in the Kohls plaza out in Canton/Avon. Those Cinemmon Crunch bagels are to die for.

Glad to hear THAT, at least. I knew a firm out of Madrid had bought them, but the rumor was that they were going to Shutter or Sell off Lake Compounce (and only them, of all the Kennywood parks). I'd heard about the water park expansion, once the road finishes getting moved.
