We are going to HIFS in Oct. I have only one question I hope you can answer: Did you drive to the MK area at all (or more specifically, the Contemporary)? I would like to make PS @ Chef Mickey's our !st night, trying to find out how much time we should allow for travel, and is it easier to drive all the way or take the monorail from TTC? Thanks to you or anyone else who can answer! (I posted this ? more than a week ago, but haven't gotten a single reply). Thanks again, can't wait!:bounce:
We stayed at HIFS in March and did dinner at Chef Mickeys. It's only about a 5 minute drive, but you should probably allow about 15 minutes to park and get up to the 4th floor, where the restaurant is.
We had a wonderful stay at HIFS and can't wait to go back. Dinner at Chef Mickeys was one of the highlights of our trip, also. Enjoy!!!

Obviously you liked the resort. Was it as good as staying at a Disney resort? I have resses at HIFS as well as WL. I can get the same size room at HIFS for $300 per night cheaper and we all get a free breakfast buffet. But, will I miss out on the Disney ambience? How do you get from HIFS to TL/

If you can get the same size room at a great hotel like the HIFS, with breakfast, for $300 less per night than the WL, it seems like a no brainer to me!
Why not save that money you would have spent at the WL, for another trip to Orlando or perhaps the Disney Cruise Line? :D

OK, here goes, really dumb question. What is HIFS?

There are no dumb questions here! :D
HIFS stands for "Holiday Inn Family Suites". It is located in Lake Buena Vista, less than 1 mile from Disney's East gate.
Check it out at one of many different hotel RES site http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com . Move your mouse pointer over the "RES" block on the left side of the screen, then click on "Orlando Area Hotels". I have never stayed there but it seems to be a wonderful place to stay.
Also, welcome to the "boards" ;) , I see you registered yesterday!:bounce:

Hi Canucksie,
Which building is the closest to the lobby? Which type of suite did you stay in? I have resses for a Classic June, '02 then on to the cruise ship! Will my DSS 17 & 14 like the resort?
Thanks!!

MommaluvsDis, HIFS is a wonderful family hotel (especially for families with small children)...but IMHO it is very hard to compare it to a deluxe Disney resort. The atmosphere at WL is unbeatable.

YES,YOUR TEENS WILL LOVE IT!!! There is a gameroom,Family Bingo[pizza is one of the prizes] and Family Kareoke!! And 2 pools. You can rent video,s,also.
WE stayed in a KID SUITE and it had 2 bunkbeds, and a 25"tv,nintendo 64,[games rent for $5.00 per 24hrs,this feature may save you a fortune as opposed to the gameroom],and Cd player.
We also had a masterbedroom w/a king bed,a door,25" tv,closet,dressing table w/a computer port.
And a sofa bed in the livingroom.
I think it was building 7 or 8 that was closest to the lobby.

I appreciate everyone's replies. Yes, as teens, the boys probably would love WL. I'm just having a VERY hard time justifying $385 with no breakfast verses $161 with breakfast to DH!!. We can stay at HIFS for about $1,100 less and that's money we could spend on the cruise!
But WL is SOOOOOO beautiful!!
Either way, just as long as we get to go to DW, I'll be happy. My pen name should have been kid at heart!
Tigerbear, I have a cousin that lives on Wisterwood in Houston!!
