I guess a trip to Home Depot is on the agenda for us tomorrow too. Alien Green, eh?

I'm having trouble believing that the cruise is a week away!

Will head over to Home Depot tomorrow to look for the green sample.

We are staying at a hotel by Universal, but using disney transfers. When do the buses start going to the port, does anyone know?

  snwwhite: when you see a lady in a wheelchair waiting to board the shuttle -- that is me!! Don't know what I'll be wearing other than a smile from ear to ear but will be with totallytigger and 3 grandchildren. Hope to meet you there. Home Depot is in VT and pretty close to airport. If we get an early enough start - perhaps we can make a side trip for some alien green!! That would be fun and what a great way to connect with other dis board members!! Pesty snow last night and all weekend. Seems like it is mixed with sleet/rain. Not a lot but just plain messy and slippery. It is okay because my thoughts are now on the end of the week which is approaching rather quickly!! See everyone soon.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc:happy1:

Hi all...

Rather than putting our actual names on the green tags, I think it would be neat to put on our DIS board names instead (for instance... "3 Things") We know each other by those names anyway and it might be a fun way of meeting each other in person...what do you all think???
:sunny:
This time next week we'll be at the terminal waiting to board :hyper:

As soon as we disembark, I'll be headed over toe WDW for a conference at The Dolphin, giving me an additional 4-5 days at WDW.

Thing is, The Dolphin was sold out so my company booked me a room at The Yacht Club. I'm so broken hearted that I couldn't stay in the conference hotel. :p

7 days on the Magic, 5 days in the Yacht Club. My wife is going to be spoiled.

If I stay online the entire time between now and when I fly to Orlando... Will the time go quicker because I'm on DIS all the time or would it go quicker to take a break to actually sleep a little?

(Just heard an add for "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights"... PLEASE, PLEASE, don't let that be one of the movies on board!!!

Sleep? Who needs sleep? (My ER certainly doesn't think so!)Fortunately, I can check out the boards at work. Being so busy has made this past week go by very quickly.

Mama Griz...Alien Green...not my color either, but none the less I now have Alien Green Mickeys on all suitcases/carry ons! (Pluto's Pup didn't fit on the Mickey, and abbreviating it to 'PP'...well, I didn't like the sounds of that either!)

We're looking forward to meeting everyone NEXT Sunday @ 10! DD6 hopes to meet new friends!

SAVE YOURSELF! Debate boards bring out the worst in DISers - myself included...

But if you must go... click on "The DIS Discussion Forums" above...

Then click on "Debate Board" under the top 10...

Will this link work in here...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=514322

Anyway, I don't think Walt wanted his Disney visitors to debate abortion, muslim eating patterns, Bush, Clinton, and global warming... but there it is...

SAVE YOURSELF! (12:30 and I'm still not thinking of sleep...)

mailman...After much debate and canceling our DCL dive excursion, it looks like we may join you at edenrock. Looks really neat and we like the flexiblity. After getting over a cold we don't want to be committed to diving if our ears aren't up to it. What equipment are you bringing? We will bring all but our BC. I can't remember if you are staying at the Radisson Friday. Maybe we will see you there.

Re: childcare...Our DS will be 6 weeks from turning 3 and potty trained. We were told he would be able to participate in kids programs. I spoke to DCL today and they said he must be a month from 3! They said it depends on how full it is and what they decide on the ship. Anyone know how strict they are about this? I'm very concerned about this one!!

We're almost there!
Thanks

mailman028
02-23-2004, 05:10 PM
That's great Divindisney. It does give you flexibility. We are also gonna rent a car and drive around. We have been to G.C. a few times before,so we are comfortable with it.I can't wait to drive on the wrong side of the road.LOL.I'm gonna bring all my gear, weights,bc,comp etc...If you think you still might have some congestion bring some Sudafed.I think that's how you spell it.It works great.
Also another thing,if you plan on getting off the boat early when we get to G.C. you will need a tender ticket.People on excursions don't need one.Just if you go off on your own and early. If I read the Navigator correctly they said to pick one up at the Disney theater. It did not say when though.I'm gonna inquire about it Day 1.Just some F.Y.I stuff. We are also gonna be at the radisson on Friday we have to drive all the way from the west coast(of Florida)LOL.We don't want anything to hinder us.Boy that's paranoid ain't it.See ya either Friday or Saturday. If you have any other questions just ask.Mike

Thanks Pluto's Pup!

The local Fox News channel threw a scare at us during the weekend...talked about the possibility of a MAJOR winter storm brewing up for Wednesday into Thursday. Turned out to be all fluff and no substance - that's the weather you and I are getting today. Thursday (day of departure for us) is supposed to be bright & sunny!

But......come to think of it, I haven't checked the weather yet for south of us for the road trip...

 Dang....looks like we will be dragging the cool weather down to Florida with us! High of 82 in Cocoa Beach today, but only a high of 65 on Friday when we arrive and a chance of showers on Saturday!

65!!!! Sounds like a heat wave to me! (LOL) All our main suitcases are packed with our clothes/shoes. Everything else will go into a cargo bag on wheels which we can check through.

Now I'm trying to remember all the little things, like making my lime-green carryon tags. You were saying that "Plutospup" wouldn't fit - what am I going to do with a name like "MississaugaMom" I thought of shortening it to "MissMom" but I don't think that will fly with my DH of 10 years! Any suggestions???

It is cool, rainy and wet here. Though I shouldn't complain as family in Minnesota got a snowstorm on Sunday! We are ready for the sun. Suitcases are ready to be shut down and put in the car as we fly out tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. which means out the door by 3:30 or so to get to the airport. NOt sure if it is even worth going to bed tonite.

To get to Orlando, we have the privilege of going through the Miami airport with a 3+ hour layover. BUT it is worth it! Will give DS son time to work on schoolwork he is missing next week.

Have a safe trip jbix00.

We have bright, sunny and cold today as well. The calm before the storm they tell me. We should have snow here as we drive to Spokane on Thursday. Hopefully we'll miss it. We got up to 40 degrees here Monday, and kids were in shorts here on campus:earseek:

Don't worry, since Disney owns ABC(for now), they have that channel on the boat. So we should be able to see how it all ends.

:( Just freakin wonderful! We hit the road this afternoon and head for Florida....and we now get to drive smack dab into the middle of a winter storm in So. VA/NC/SC.:earseek:

I'm not worried about my driving abilities in the cold stuff...just fear the other drivers who drive SUV's in the snow & ice and think they can still drive 70 MPH......BECAUSE they have 4-wheel drive. Morons! Yes, you can get it up to that speed quicker than everyone else...but you lose ALL advantage when it comes to slowing down, stopping & steering. I snicker everytime I see a 4-wheel drive SUV in the ditch and think about the expensive lesson the SUV owner just got in handling their 4-wheel drive!

Got that feelin that it will be a VERY slow drive today once we hit NC......

Hey, I live in central North Carolina and am headed south soon. So if you see me in my big, black 4WD Suburban - the one with the Captain Mickey antenna topper - be sure to wave. :teeth:

I'm with you on the snowstorm - what terrible timing.

Don't know which way you're going, but it doesn't look too bad down around I-95. The biggest problems appear to be I-85 and I-77 further west of here.

Otherwise, I'll see y'all on the Magic this Saturday.

Have a safe drive, SMChan and JBix00! I too have seen a lot of SUV's rolled in ditches around here during storms.

Well the flight was a little bumpy in places last night and the rental agency was out of our size cars so we have like a 15 passenger minivan for the two of us... But we slept with the windows open and could hear a fountain in the little lake by our room. And this morning it's sunny and just great!!!

At the store where we bought our juice and bagels Gail saw a screaming lime green t-shirt with a big Mickey on the front for $5.99. She hasn't decided if she'll go back and get it. Think she should?

Ok, it's time to take the book and head to the pool. Day after tomorrow! Day after tomorrow!

Safe trips to everyone!

Hi Ray-half of 3Things!

Thanks for the weather update - sounds amazing!!!

Is Gail looking at getting the Lime-Green Mickey only for herself or for you, too?

(Or maybe only for you ... )

The price is all right, though. As one of the people wearing the lime-green T already, I'd say "the more the merrier".

See you Saturday!

It would be for here, because I already own a lime green t-shirt... So far, all she has is a black t-shirt with Tinkerbell on it... So I thought the lime t-shirt might do the trick.

and about that weather... tomorrow is only supposed to be mid-60's, but then warmer on THE important day!

have reservations at Wilderness Lodge tonight for dinner to get a little shot of Disney - we're staying a Marriott vacation club place so we need some Disney!

Go ahead and buy the lime-green mickey T; just something else to get in the spirit on Saturday morning!

Plutospup,

Have a wonderful trip. I am relatively certain we shared an "Avis" van back to the Radisson last year with you and your family on the April cruise last year. I'll know I have the right family if you can confirm what a "pleasant" time we had getting back to the Radisson after the cruise. We were the family of five from NH. We remembered how nice your family was and we were sorry not to have met you sooner. I was just lurking on the boards back then. If I have the wrong family, have a great trip anyway. We are cruising once again this April.

Hi CB4U! Yes, it was us! I thought there were going to be fist fights waiting for the Avis van. Despite the trouble we're going back to Avis again.

It's so nice of you to remember our family! We remember the "gang from New Hampshire"! Hopefully, your April cruise will be great.

Plutospup,

I knew it was your family. I remembered reading a post way back when from you regarding the system of getting back to the Radisson.

Anyway, have a wonderful time and let us know how everything is on the Magic. By the way, we're renting from Budget this year!!

Smooth sailing.......:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Thanks CB4U! It's great hearing from you!

Well, the bags are packed, and some have even made it to the van. DD6 is sound asleep dreaming of Mickey Ice Cream bars. Time to relax. Tomorrow we leave for Mickey's Boat!!!

BTW...we booked our own air so we could leisurely travel the day before the cruise. My cousin's family booked their air through Disney. Their flight from Harrisburg leaves at 6 am, Saturday! They'll be falling asleep at dinner (early seating)!

I've been reading all the posts but I guess it's time to quit lurking and post. ;) Tomorrow is our last day at home and I'm sure we'll be busy all day--cleaning house, finishing up laundry, last minute packing. We've all had haircuts, been shopping for weeks for new clothes, shoes, etc. We need to get on the ship already so we can stop spending so much MONEY!! :earseek:

:wave2: just wanted to say to all how sorry I am I missed the dis. meeting on Sunday in Promenade lounge. I was chilling out after a shop talk meeting when along came my 20 y/o grandson asking to go to bingo with him. So off I went. It would have been so great to meet all. jbix00 did make it, however, and said how great it was to meet everyone we had been talking with all year. In spite of the high winds and rough seas, we all had a great cruise. flights home were good also. Left my eyeglasses behind so hopefully my cabin steward found them and turned them in. I have e-mailed the cruiseline. Oh Well. Hope everyone had a great cruise and a safe trip home.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We made it!

Hi everybody, yes we made it back to Montana. It was a long trip, but the cruise made it worth every second. We had to wait at the ticket counter for half an hour while they checked us out. Apparently our names matched someone on a "suspicious" list and they had to check us out. Right. They stop everyone coming through the airport with the surname of "Clark". No wonder the line moved so slowly. The flight from Orlando sat on the runway for 50 minutes while they were waiting for the "log book". We ended up missing our connection to Spokane and having to take a later flight. We landed in Spokane at midnight, and crashed at the motel at 1:00 am. We woke at 8ish and drove home arriving at 1:00 pm today. The house is still rocking, and my ears have finally quit popping from the planes, but I'm feeling great.

Tuesday will be different, I have to go back to work.

It was really fun meeting everyone.

Verandah man-thanks for the pictures.

Mailman and family, I think you guys were following us ;). It was kind of fun to "know" people on the cruise. Your Alex is such a cutie.

Mississaguamom, Sammy is still talking about you guys princess: . She's planning to tell her class about her friend Lara from Canada.

We are beginning to plan another cruise, it was so much fun, but we didn't book on board. It will have to be 2006 for us.

Hope everyone made it home OK.

We are back in the land of OZ!

What a cruise! It is so hard to get back to reality again--no one to turn the bed down, serve me, remember all my likes and dislikes for meals!!! Disney sure knows how to do it right!!!!

It was great to meet everyone and see friendly faces around the ship and at the ports. We are ready to go again, but not sure when. Trying to get some of our friends to go on a spring break curise in two or three years, so everyone has time to save up for it and their younger kids will be a little older and able to go on some of the excursions without being as scared as some of the little ones we saw.

Thanks Verandah Man for the pics, they will be great to add to the scrapbook. If anyone has a group pic that we took in the lounge, will they email it to me?

Can't wait to read everyone's trip reports!

Hi!

Great cruise; first time DCL experience -- only one problem. I am a terrible asthmatic and our verandah room was right next to a chain smoker. They couldn't move us and we couldn't use our verandah :( The guest services manager was sympathetic to my problem and sent up a Hepa filter/air cleaner. The least I had hoped for was that I get a refund in the difference between a Verandah room and a porthole room, since we could only look out the glass.

I had asked that my reservations be noted with my medical condition; I wish DCL had some way of tagging reservations to try and place non-smokers and asthmatics in a particular section.

Does anyone know of an address to write to DCL concerning this problem? I made certain to write it in on the review forms.

Otherwise -- Key West was great, we snorkled in Grand Cayman (shipwreck -- the stingrays were booked), did the Dolphin Experience in Cozumel (my 4 year old liked the Mexican cab ride!) and chilled on the beach at Castaway Cay.

The ship was beautiful! The food great! We were early seating and Silvio and Pieter were our waiters -- what sweethearts! :sunny:

We didn't rebook :( as I am trying to find out what can be done to try and prevent the asthma vs. smoker verandah problem.

Hi All!

This is my first trip back to the boards since the cruise. After disembarking at Port Canaveral, we headed to Pop Century resort at DisneyWorld for a second week of vacation. Lots of fun, but everyone arrived back in Canada with "bugs" in various stages. Martin actually missed his first two days back at work. I dragged in to try catching up (and crashing right after work) and then Lara got a stomach flu last Thursday which kept us really busy.

This cruise was the most incredible vacation! I just loved every moment of it (well, maybe not the seasick ones in the first couple of hours:rolleyes: ) but everything else was so memorable!

I started working on my trip report. Day One is ready for posting now. Can't wait to read about everyone else's adventures.

Arlene
