We are planning a 3 night cruise and are leaning towards Labor Day. I do not want to go home on that Sunday, Is the Disney Vero resort far from the port? And does anyone have any other ideas on a seaside resort??

We stayed there for 1 night before we took the 4day cruise in 2000. It was only about a 2hr drive to the port as I recall. Seems like a nice resort, but it was too cold to swim when we were there. You can also post your question over on the DVC board, there are lots of members who can give you some good advice. Good luck.

I drove up A1A from Vero Beach to the port in November, I think the drive only took us about one hour, of course we were all busy talking in the car about seeing the ship.

It shouldn't take much more than an hour to an hour and a half. Vero Beach is about 75 miles from Port Canaveral. It would probably be quicker to cut over to I-95 and take that north than to use A1A, but probably not as scenic. I'd probably opt for the scenic route, myself.

Either way, it's definitely a doable ride on the morning of the cruise.

We had all day, we were on our way up to Dixie Crossroads for lunch. It was a Thursday, so we got to see the WONDER (from the roadside) in port.

About one and a half hours tops! We do it most every year and love Vero. The resort is gorgeous, beach and pool really nice and some great restaurants in Vero. I may be biased, but I highly recommend it. Good places to shop too - not just the mall and discount store stuff.
