ksc - rocket launch - planning our day

we'll be in cocoa beach for one night when there is a rocket launch. the launch is scheduled at 4pm on sat june 30th. should we tour ksc that day and be on site for the launch? it's being launched at the delta pads. is there good viewing if we stay at the center and watch from there?

our other option is to tour ksc on friday, then on saturday go up to daytona for a 1/2 day visit and come back down to jetty park, lounge on the beach and watch the rocket launch from there.

any opinions?

Check with KSC,on some launch days the visitors center is closed until after the launch.

[Shuttle Fan]

Have just checked out shuttle launch dates and the proposed Atlantis launch on 14th June has been postponed to the 20th June at the earliest. Not sure about a launch on the 30th.

the 30th is a delta rocket launch, not a shuttle. but it would be wonderful to see an actual launch! we will be there on the 20th! is this the new date that the 14th was postponed to?

this is very exciting! now i have to start over in planning in order to see the shuttle launch! we were going to see the rocket launch on 6/30, but we'd much rather see the shuttle. where would be the best place to view the launch on 6/20?
