AP rates? do they give you a credit ?

I know If I looked hard enough I would see this asked and answered before. But here it comes anyway :) . Does anyone know if I can ask to apply a AP rate when it comes out to a rezzie ? I made this through my own travel agent who used Walt Disney Travel. We have not bought our AP yet but we are going to closer to our trip time. Next thing is what if it is a trip that is paid for by the time the rate is released . Do you just have a credit on your room to be used for meals and the gift shop ? Sorry this is so long ... but it is really bugging me :confused:

First of all your Travel Agent will have to make any changes for you. Once you use a TA, you cannot make changes to your reservation yourself.
Second, if you have a room only reservation and the AP rate is available you can change your reservation over. If you have a package, the AP rate would not apply.
If your trip is paid in full, and you get a lower rate, you will receive a credit back for the difference.
