Does anyone know where I can get a good rate for a rental van for our family? I don't dare bid on priceline since most of the car rental companies list that the minivans hold 2 adults/2 children. We have 4 kids -- 5 by the time of our trip next February. Then there's that slight possibility of twins....

So I need a vehicle for at least 7, and possibly 8. We need it for 10 days, and will be spending the first 3 days of our trip at Daytona Beach. I'm debating using the condo transportation (assuming they have it!) the last 3 days and only renting for a week if I can't find a decent rate.

Where can I find a big enough vehicle and a reasonable rate???

Thanks!

We too have been looking for "good rates" on a mini van.
All of the major companies... Hertz, Dollar, Avis, Enterprise, etc say that thier minivans hold 7. They are standard types, Ford Windstar, etc. The real problem is the cost! There are not many deals to be found....

The best one so far has come from Dollar, using a code from the mousesaver page and for 8 days it will cost $249.98 plus all the taxes and surcharges. National and Avis still come up @50-80 more for the same timeframe.

We are still debating if we'll rent or not.

When planning for a rental van don't forget to allow for luggage. Even if it seats 7 or 8 there may be no room left over for your bags.

We are travelling with 6 adults and 3 kids so we rented a 15 passenger van from Budget ($733 for 8 days) to make sure we would have room.

We are a family of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids) going in Oct.

We originally reserved a van through Dollar using the FVG code. After much contemplation, we decided to get 2 fullsize cars through National. We are DC members and have joined the Emerald Club through National. We were able to car each full size car $130.00 for 8 days using discounts and coupons. Plus, we are using the Emerald Isle which means we are guarenteed a fill size but if there's a preminum, luxury, mini van or SUV we can pick one of those instead.

Good Luck!!!!

If you find a good deal don't hesitate. I found a minivan on Hotwire for 8 days total was $292 including all tax and fees. My trip isn't until Novemeber so I waited, just checked again and it is now $585.

I reserved my minivan through priceline and got it for $24/day... You may want to try this!

I just booked mine through Dollar using the FVG code. It was $209 a week and $39 for the extra day, plus tax and fees.

That is the rate we got from Dollar also. We are going last week in Aug. Grumpy when are you going?

Also "pooh" when is your trip? About a month ago, I tried priceline at 26/day and was rejected.
Thanks

Our trip is the second week in August - I had to try several times before I got my bid accepted... if you have time I would keep trying - it's frusterating since you can only make one bid per week. We had also reserved with Dollar as a backup and I had no problem cancelling the dollar reservation when I got my confirmation from Priceline... good luck!
