I bought new walking shoes a week ago. They are Ryka's. I dropped about $70 for them and they aren't working for me! They felt like a dream when I tried them on, but I am having heal pain with them. I walk at least 4 miles a day, and do hills and flat walking. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good walking shoe?

I like Reebok. Always grab a new pair when we head to WDW. Never had a problem. Shoes I avoid: Nike and Brooks. Toe box too small on Brooks, as well as not very flexible, and Nike simply don't hold up well. Whatever you get, wear them around the house for a day or two, that way, if they don't work out, you can return them. Good luck.

Linda,
I love New Balance shoes. They are the best fit for me, but I have a wide foot. ;) New Balance was recommended to me by a physical therapist and a podiatrist.
Good luck finding the right brand for you. :)

Another vote for New Balance...LOVE THEM!!! I agree with both posters...Nike's DONT hold up well at all (even the boys ones!!)
NB are the best a podiatrist recommended them to me too.
Please Make sure you have good socks on too...people don't think of that until its too late, but its just as important as a good shoe!!

Another fan of New Balance, here! They are so light, but they really have a lot of support. I'm pretty hard on shoes, and my New Balance seem to last forever.

I am normally not a big sneaker fan, usually I wear sandals and dress shoes since I had never found a comfy pair of sneakers. This past December I bought a pair of Sauconys. OMG, they are WONDERFUL!! They are meant for runners but I think the extra support and cushioning is what has made them so comfy. I have a pair for my everyday use and another pair that I wear to Curves. DH is a big New Balance fan, but he bought a pair of Sauconys when I dragged him to the outlet and I think I may have converted him :)
