Hi Jody!
I'm checking to see how you are doing. I'm sorry you are up a pound but I was wondering if you were eating enough calories too. It must be frustrating for you. I know you'll keep your chin up and tweak until you find the right combination for you. Take care!

thought I would stop by and say "howdie-ho, good neighbor!"
:)
I think you are doing great. Way to tweak the plan.
Do you think maybe you were having too much "fake" sugar?? Like from shakes, latte flavorings, diet cocoa, etc. . Sometimes that slows me down considerably. Just wondering.
Sounds like you are on your way, though, Jody. I think this plan will work for you. Just keep at it, you'll get results.
Have a good one, Jody..........on the beach!

Seems high on the carbs compared to what I was use to. But most of the carbs are from the Dairy - [Latte and Yogurt] & Chili. Lactose carbs are an acceptable part of SouthBeach. As well as 'beans'. It just takes getting use to for me to see those high numbers.

Hi Jody,
It looks like you managed to figure out how many calories you need. The chili sounds YUMMY.

B - SlimFast LowCarb Chocolate Shake
S - Lg Skim Milk Latte w/sugar free caramel flavoring
L - chicken salad on a bed of romaine with
bits of green pepper, tomatoe, onion
lite basalmic vinagerette dressing
S - Yoplait lite yogurt
D - Romaine salad w/almond accents
part skim mozzarella and lite basalmic vinagerette dressing
One large apple sliced. Dipped in a 'dip' made with 2 tbs of natural chunk p.butter and davinci sugar free caramel flavoring.
I got my calories up a little higher today. It seems like I picked good healthy foods including 'healthy carbs'. But OH MY I think this is the highest my carb count has been! YIKES! Carbs coming mostly from the milk products again today [latte, yogurt, shake] and the apple. I will continue to monitor my progress to be sure these changes don't prevent me from breaking this stall.

The apple dip sounds divine. I might have to try that. I even have the davinci syrup. Great job getting those calories in.

I just had my apple and dip --- and it WAS divine Beth. Next to criminal -- honestly!;)
I took 2 tbsp of natural chunky peanut butter and thinned it out a little with the davinci sugar free caramel syrup. Wow! That was REALLY good. I'm still having a very hard time thinking that it is okay to be eating all of these carbs though. I just had an APPLE! Who would ever think that I'd be so excited over something like this - LOL! This 'dip' would have been good with celery also. Maybe I'll have it with celery if I don't do well having the apples.

Jody, I was also concerned about you eating too few calories and I'm happy to see that you're getting closer to 1200 a day! Good for you! Even when you were eating low-carb, I didn't think you ate enough and I've always wondered if that was part of the plateau problem.
I know it's hard to eat all those carbs after doing Atkins for so long but, honestly, that's the way the South Beach program is designed to work. Your protein levels are good. You've cut down your fat percentage and replaced some of that fat with "good" carbs like apples! You're doing a great job - now you just have to be patient and give your body time to adjust to the new fat/carb/protein ratio. Hopefully you'll continue to see those great results you saw in the first 2 weeks!
I think you'll be very happy in the long run with South Beach! I'll be crossing my fingers for you on weigh-in day! ::yes::
Hope you have a wonderful Thursday filled with :sunny: and smiles!

Hi Jody!
I'm checking in on you. I know I can read your posts our SBD thread on lowcarbfriends but I like to check on WISH buddies on their journals too.
I can only imagine how difficult it must be to transition from Atkins to SBD but you are doing a fine job. Keep up the great work and I hope the scale is kind to you on weigh in day! :)

Thursday 04/08/04
B - Lg skim milk Latte' w/sugar free caramel flavoring
L - SlimFast LowCarb Chocolate Shake
S - Yoplait lite yogurt
above items were 500 calories total. I don't even know how to begin to calculate my dinner but I think I probably did okay calorie wise --- trying to keep in the ballpark of 1200/day.
D - Ate out at Kalhouns
Couple bites of ceaser salad
Chicken in a garlic cream sauce w/langstose & asparagus
double serving of green beans
[had them hold the potatoes]
S - Swiss Miss diet hot choclate
I'm sure the sauce was rich and slightly carby as well as fat but I still think I made pretty good choices. I doubled up on the veggies and drank lots of water today.

Jody, I'm thinking of you and hoping all is well!
We've planned a WISH Walk in Doylestown PA on May 8th. It's about an hour and 45 minute drive from our area. There's a thread posted on the main WISH board, in case you're interested.

Jody,
You must be really busy. I haven't seen any posts for a while. How was the cruise? Did you follow South Beach at all, or were there too many temptations? I know I would have a real problem low carbing on a cruise.
I was interested in seeing how the switch was going. I haven't lost weight in so long I was thinking of trying something else. But most of the low carb ways of eating are pretty similar. I think it's just part of aging and having a rotten metabolism.
Hope all is well with you and yours.
