Going to Disney in June.....just DH and I. Would love to stay at either Swan or Dolphin as EPCOT is our fave park. Which would you choose...ie: more romantic and intimate.....for a couple?
Thanks for your opinions!!

The Swan is smaller and quieter than the Dolphin, which gets the bulk of the convention traffic.
I just booked my in-laws at the Dolphin for their 50th Anniversary but that was because the cheap rate was sold out at the Swan.
Both are nice, though.

Hi Sammy. My personal preference is the Dolphin. I love the king rooms there, the store and 24 hour restaurant are there and because it caters to the convention crowd there are fewer kids there.
I love kids but when I travel without them, I like to travel without them ;)
The Dolphin is much larger than the Swan. If it is an intimate lobby you are looking for I suppose that would be the Swan although it's lobby is still large, just not as large as the Dolphin.
Baileymouse, did you request a king room for your parents? The king rooms have covered balconies, the king rooms on the odd numbered floors actually have two balconies.
You know what, Sammy? Those covered balconies are very intimate, perhaps you should choose a king room at the Dolphin ;)

LOL nativetxn!! Don't think I meant THAT intimate!!! Actually, once the latest AP rates came out, we decided to try the CBR for the first time. Looking forward to snagging one of those hammocks on th beach!

I'm about to try the Swan for the reason that I think it may have fewer kids. I also love the sushi retaurant, Kimonos. I've stayed at the Dolphin a few times, and it has a much more exciting atmosphere. I had a king room, but I do not recall having a balcony. I say you can't go wrong at either resort because they are equally close to all the Magic! (FYI - my last trip 2001 to the Dolphin was with a convention - HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - 5,000 of them. Just a warning!)

Hi mrslane, welcome to the DIS, I'm glad you decided to visit the adults/solos board. We're quiet but we are growing :)
What month did you see that convention of high school students? Just curious, I would probably not want to even be in that parks with a convention like that ;) I love young people but unsupervised young people can give me a headache :)

The convention, which I was a part of, was the week before the 4th of July. Late June into the 1st of July, I think. The students were FBLA- Future Business Leaders of America, and were well-behaved. As a high school teacher, I tend to want to vacation without them! :)

I don't think you can go wrong either way. The location is wonderful for adults. Epcot is next door and Boardwalk is a boat trip or short walk. We've never had major problems with conventions but watch out for the tour groups.

I agree! Either hotel would be wonderful! The location can't be beat.

Dolphin in 1999-2000 and LOVE it! They had just gotten done with a renovation so the rooms had been updated. Want romantic....ask for a double/double balcony room on the top floor! Two balconys and you can hear the fountains on top at night....PLUS....the view from your window (when in bed) is KILLER! The only drawback is that you have to walk a long way to your room.
Stayed at the Swan last year and their rooms have NOT been updated in quite a while. Burnholes in furniture, shabby bed linens, etc. I heard they were going to update to the Westin Heavenly Bed and when they do....GO (these beds are well...heavenly). Until then, the Dolphin is better.
All things being equal...go to whichever has the better price (usually the Dolphin as it is bigger). Neither one is a disappointment. Have any specific questions....just email!

The Swan has been renovated- The Heavenly Beds are there now. In fact, the Dolphin is now priced slightly lower than the Swan.

What renovations has the Swan made? What have they done to the beds? I have a res. there this summer. I picked it over the Dolphin just because I've never stayed there.
