View Full Version : Update your goals here!
It's great to see so many new members posting here! I know there was a thread about goals a while ago, but I've got a horrible memory. Hope it's ok to ask about goals again! Thought it would be a good way for us to get to know each other a bit better! :)
Have you changed your goals since you started WISH? Have you been rewarding yourself for mini goals? What kinds of rewards do you give yourself? Please feel free to go into lots of detail! :)
My goal is to wear a comfortable size 8. I'm not sure how possible this is. The smallest I've ever worn is a comfortable size 10. I think my frame is just too large for an 8, but I am going to try my best to make it! :)
I also want to have those "six pack" abs! ;) I'd like a very flat tummy and a lean body in general.
I owe myself a nice pair of sandals for losing 10 pounds. My first goal is to get to 145 before our trip to England at the end of May. My second goal is to get to 140 and then I'll see how I feel. I would love to get down to 135, but it depends on what my body fat % is by the time I reach 140ish.
My biggest goal is to MAINTAIN a healthy lifestyle after I reach all those other goals. I am enjoying WW and I know I can continue to follow this plan (up my calories to maintain my weight) for the rest of my life. It's just a matter of REALLY sticking with it and continuing my exercise plan as well!
Looking forward to reading your goals!

I'm trying not to look long term (I'm afraid it will scare me to death). I am setting 'mini' goals mostly based on comfort. I'm not sure if I'll ever be happy with myself (I never have been lol)
My first goal is to lose 40 pounds by July 4th. I have a Mickey Mouse skort that I want to be able to wear again to the family picnic on the 4th. I'm 25% there and if I can stick to Atkins and start working on some type of exercise routine, I may just make it.
I am always busy and use it as an excuse NOT to work out :( I just can't seem to get motivated. I've always hated exercise. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I become discouraged easily, which has been my downfall on past diets. I am trying to work on that and found that the scale is my worst enemy. I decided to get it out of the bathroom (I put it in the garage lol) and only weigh once a week.
Ok....I would love a waist size in the 20's(29.5 would be fine) and a weight in the 120's...Would love a six pack abs, and I can feel it under all the extra stuff. Would love to fit in a loose size 6...and be able to wear a sleeveless shirt without feeling self-conscious.
I would love to loose 5.5 pounds by end of May, but it looks doubtful.... maybe by my July trip.

We must have the same body type!!! Size 10 was the lowest I have ever been at that was at 175 lbs. I honestly think I would start to look ematiated in a size 8 and below 165 lbs. Right now I am a size 14 but they are getting loose. I really want to get into a size 12 by June 13th (family wedding) and a size 10 by my Disney trip in December. I am going to try to get to an 8 but I don't know if that will happen. I'm not too worried about it.

Since I hit onderland last sunday I have be concentrating on making my 2nd 10% goal which will put me at 190. I'm 8.75 away from that goal. My personal goal is to get to 180 by June 28th my birthday. I did the hair cut and color at my 30lbs loss and at my first 20 i got the WATP tapes. I want to workout at least 3-4 a week anything over that is gravy! So far i have two days in for the week even feeling yucky with TOM here. I am making myself do it and feeling better. I'm having a FAT week just feeling like i put on 10lbs you know the feeling. I know it'll go away. My ultimate goal is where i feel good about me again and how i look in my clothes. Hopefully that will come somewhere between 135-150 range just have to wait and see as the fat melts off more and more. I'm feeling much better without that HUGE stomach i once had. It's still there just not so HUGE at it was 35 lbs ago. I want to be in a size 10 or 12 again i think maybe that would make me happy. I'm guessing though it's been so long i really don't know where my GOAL is gonna be at yet I just know it's here somewhere within and when i get there i'll see it in the mirror and say okay this is it!

Oh yeah... I want the abs too. Don't know about a six pack but I'd settle for anything less than a keg :p

My ultimate goal is to never have to feel like I'm cheating. I want to be able to eat what I want, when I want. I just want to WANT food that is good for me, and to be an active person, not a couch potato. I think I'm getting there. :)
Weight wise, I want to get to 124. That should put me into a comfy size 8. Maybe a 6, but I' haven't seen that number since before I had kids. My body shape may not ever accomodate that size again. It's OK though. I think exercise is the key there.
My short term goal is 140 by my birthday. Thats about 1.4 lbs/week according to my calculations. That is probably not going to happen, because I think I would have to go on a rather radical DIET, and I just don't do well in that situation. We'll see. I could do it through exercise, but I'm just going to take it one day at a time and make every day count for something. (Even if it is a failure, I'll try to take something positive out of it)
I will see what happens after my birthday, before I set another short term goal.
Kelsie,
All I can say is thanks for giving us a place to talk about our struggles. Some people call it vanity, but it's only people who don't seem to have any health isuues that say things like that. We know that it is not vanity, but health that counts. You have helped us all so much. I hope you get the support you need to keep your spirit up so you can reach your highest goals!
Keep the Faith!

Well I try not to focus on my long-term goals too much because they seem so far away but I have set a few short-term and mid-term goals.
My short term goal right now is to lose another 9 pounds to get me into the next WW points range.
My shorter mid-term goal is to be down 25 pounds by 4th of July.
My longer mid-term goal is to lost a total of 69 pounds by the end of the year to get me into the 100's for the first time in about 5-6 years. I am already down 10 so I have 59 more pounds to go.
My end goal is to fit comfortably in probably a size 8-10 (I don't know what that will be on a scale but my guess is around 145 or so). For my frame I am not sure that anything less than a 10 is even possible.
When I was first on WW before I got pregnant my end reward to myself with for DH and I to go on the Disney Cruise but since we now have DS I don't think that is going to work because I don't want to leave him behind and I don't think he will be old enough to really cruise.

I seem to define my goals 20 pounds at a time...
My first goal was to get back to "onederland". Having a weight that started with a 2 was so discouraging! I started at 219.5, and I got to 199.5 2 weeks ago (YAY!!!!), 20 pounds gone, and back in the 1's!! That felt great.
My next goal is to say bye-bye to the next 20 pounds by 6/14, when I'm taking a cruise (I'm looking at the cruise as my next reward, although of course I'm taking it whether I hit another 20 pound loss or not!) That would put me at 180, probably a size 14. Not goal weight, but able to buy clothes in normal misses departments again!! At that size, I am not nearly as self concious about how I look in my clothes. That would represent a total loss of 40 pounds since starting W.I.S.H. What a huge difference that would make in how I look and feel!
After that, I'm shooting to get back to my WW goal weight (165). I'm a WW lifetime member who fell off the wagon long ago. Getting my "lifetime member in good standing" status back will mean a lot to me, and meetings will be free again! It looks like I could be there the first week of August. That would be a total of 55 pounds lost.
My ultimate goal is to get to 150 pounds, a size 10. This is the weight where I feel really good, and am satisfied with how I look. Not Hollywood thin, not cut with 6 pack abs, but trim and healthy. At 5'10", this is a good weight for me. My poor old tired, sore knees should be happier, too.:)
My goal is to be at my ultimate goal weight of 150 (a total loss of 70 pounds  ) in November. We'll have lots of family gatherings in November and December, and I'll see lots of relatives that I only see once a year then. Since they all saw me at my all-time high weight this past holiday season, I would LOVE to show up this next holiday season a physically transformed woman.
My reward then: an entirely new wardrobe! Merry Christmas to me!

Great thread, TigH! I really enjoy reading what everyone is aiming for. :)
My goal is to get back into the 120's, which would make me probably a size 10 (I think!). I was an 8 when I got married, but weighed about 115 then .... I know I'll always be curvy but I want to be "trim", you know?
For mini-rewards, boy, I've got it all planned out! LOL When we went on the Disney cruise last October (back when the pictures they took horrified me so much I cried!) they had one night when loose gems were featured in the gift shop. Dh bought me two heart-shaped garnets for earrings, two oval blue topazes for earrings, and a large heart-shaped blue topaz for a necklace. As I make each of my mini-goals (I've divided my goal into thirds) dh has promised to get one item set for me. The blue topaz heart I'm saving for last. Nothing like jewelry to motivate a girl!! :teeth:

This is a great thread! It is wonderful to read everyone's goals! :)
Well, when I started, I wanted to lose 50lbs and be a loose size 6. I keep re-evaluating this while I watch my body change. It seems i may only need to lose 40lbs to get there, so we will see.
I have already gone from a size 14 to a size 10 just losing 22lbs. :) :) :) But since I am only 5' tall, I carry my weight different...so we will see. ;)
My short term goals are:
To lose 5-8 more lbs by my May trip (May 23)
To continue my morning workouts (including exercising on my trip)
To not gain more than 5lbs during my trip
To lose another 5-10 lbs between the time I return from FL and my 4th of July trip.
To reach ultimate goal by August 1
To have flatter abs and less flabby inner thighs! LOL!!! :)
To maintain! :)
MY MAIN GOAL: To feel comfortable enough with myself to wear sleeveless tops and dresses and a two piece bathing suit on my October DCL vacation!!! :) Oh, and to feel and look healthier! :smooth:
I wish everyone luck reaching their goals! I know we all can do it...WISH helps me so much and all of you are a part of that! Thanks!!!! :)

I like that goal Kamy :) I would love a platinum one!!
THANKS so much you guys!!!! I love reading all your goals! It's so exciting that we are all REALLY DOING IT!!! We will all reach our goals! I know I would not be so positive and enthusiastic about this right now if it wasn't for all the support here on the WISH board.
Kelsie, don't be so hard on yourself! I know you will be happy with yourself one day, sweetie. Do you ever look back and think, "If I only knew then what I know now?" Well imagine it's 30 years from now and you are looking back wishing you had been happier with who you are. You deserve to feel the best you can feel EVERY day, and hopefully while you are WISHing away the weight you will learn to love yourself more every day. :)
Keep those goals coming! I am enjoying this so much! :) We are a big mix of tall and short, large frame, medium frame and teeny framed people!!!!

My goals are pretty much the same now as when I started Atkins. To get healthier and to lose 100 pounds. Except, now, thanks to WISH, I only have 67.5 pounds remaining to lose. Actually, I probably had more than 100 pounds to lose when I began, but I will rethink that goal when I get closer to it.
Okay, that was depressing--67.5 pounds still sounds like a huge amount of weight to lose, better than 100 though ;)
Now, if I was doing as well as glo and was seeing body fat being reduced and fitting into a size 6, I wouldn't care what I weighed anymore :)

My main goal is to lose 100 pounds! Well, 89 now since I started WISH...I would like to lose that by next year at this time, but I don't know if that is possible...I will try though! :) That is the only goal I have right now! :)

I have 3 goals set for myself until January.- My 1st goal is to lose 20 lbs by June 26- I have a wedding to go to in Wisconsin. My next goal is another 20 lbs. by August 17th. We are meeting some friends from MI. in Utah for a week. The 3rd goal is to lose another 25 lbs. by January 8, 2004- that's our trip to WDW- and home to BCV for the first time! After that, I need to lose another 50 lbs or so by October 2004 for our next trip to WDW. BUT for now, I am focusing on June 26th.
KathyTX- I want to go to "onederland" too! It's been so long!!
Beanie- Did you lose 10 lbs. last week?!?!?!? That is so fantastic! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

What a wonderful thread - thank you!
My first goal was to get back down to where I was when the year started - I've already made it there - yahoo!!
So my next short term goal is to get back down to my wedding weight from 2 years ago for when I see my family again in 6 weeks. I wasn't writing my weight down back then but I think I need to lose about 8 lbs. to make it to what I recall. So if I can keep up my 1.5 average loss per week I should be okay.
After that I would love to be in a size 12 by memorial day and a size 10 by my birthday at the end of October for a total loss of 42 lbs. A long time ago I used to be a size 10 in college and loved it. The feeling of being able to pull anything out of your closet and know it looks great on you is what I really want.
Bit by bit though!
My original goal is to lose 56 lbs. to make WW goal weight. I've lost just over 30lbs, so just 26 to go. Hey, I'm over the halfway mark. That's encouraging.:p
When I reach that I should be in a size 12 I think. I haven't worn that since high school. I'm happy with a size 14 though.
I'm determined to reach WW goal and become a life time member this time. In the past I've always quit before I reached goal, because I became satisfied with where I was. However, this time I want to reach goal, because I need that extra accountability of weighing in once a month and staying at or below goal so I don't have to pay for a meeting. I think accountability is very important in my weight loss struggle.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of going up and down, up and down. This time I want to go down and stay there.
Anyway, I sure enjoy reading about everyone here and how great everyone is doing. Reading about people's struggles can help too. At least I know I'm not alone. :p
Keep up the good work WISH'ers. We'll all make it one of these days.

AMEN!!
Ok, short term goals - to be at 145 when the girls get out of school for the summer. I say 145 by May 31, they get out of school June 6, whichever!
To curb my cravings for sweets and unhealthy snacks.
Stick to some type of exercising minimum 4 times a week
Get back in my jogging groove
Model good habits for my girls - good self-esteem and acceptance of our bodies
CLIPPIES!!!
Long term goals
140 - that should be very comfy 10s for me. It's so amazing to see how our different heights, body structures, affect our weight and size. Someone wrote to get to 120 to be a size 10; someone else wrote to be to 165 to be a size 10. I am squeezing into most of my 10s (a little easier after a 5 lb weight loss since January - only 2 of that counts for clippie though :(
Maintain that goal weight forever!
Maybe even get under goal in preparation for Dec WDW land/sea trip
CENSORED ;) - Mom this means you :)

OK, originally my measurable goal was to lose 45 pounds. I have since amended that to be to lose 60 pounds. This will put me back at the weight I was when I was in the Army jumping out of perfectly good airplanes! :p
Another goal was to improve my health. I have high blood pressure (or should say HAD, it has dropped dramatically since starting Atkins), it is now lower than what my doctor had set for me as a goal. I also want to work on my high cholesterol, and I will find out when I get the ambition to make my next doctor's appointment whether this has also happened with Atkins as it has for so many others.
An immeasurable goal that I set for myself, was to prove that food does NOT control me, that it is the other way around. For the first time in my life I can honestly say that this has already happened!!!!
I am in control, NOT the food!!!
:)
I wanted to make the important people in my life proud of me, and I can happily report that the ones that REALLY matter to me have already told me that has happened!
A last goal is to meet a group of fantastic people, that I can share my triumphs, as well as my setbacks with......and know that they actually care!! (Wait a second, that can't be a goal.......that happened the day I joined all of you............my Friends)

Goals are good, so here are mine:
1. I want to shop somewhere other than Lane Bryant (I HATE that store).
2. I want to feel like I float when I walk (I don't know, but I am thinking that without all the extra weight, that I will just kind of "float" from here to there, instead of "lumber" like a hippo).
3. I want to not be self conscience about how I look.
4. I want to be healthy.
5. I want to lose the weight for good.
6. I want to "eat to live" instead of "live to eat".

Where do I begin!
My first goal was to break 200, did that!
Then to make 10% goal, did that!
Then to get down to where I was when I joined health club (25 lbs.), did that!
(....how ridiculous is that, I joined a health club and exercised faithfully and GAINED 25 LBS OVER 2 YEARS!!)
So if you're having trouble losing, DON'T FEEL BAD! I really needed to join WW to finally beat this thing!
So my upcoming goals are to....
break 190 lbs., get my next clippie (30 lbs.), hit my next 10% (176) and TAKE IT ONE SMALL STEP AT A Time!
I have rewarded myself along the way with pedicures, manicures and this week a trip to Florida (when I reached 25 lbs.) I am shooting for as much weight as possible by my trip in August to DCL. That has really motivated me alot. I have exceeded my expectations so far but I know it doesn't get easier.
Hang in there everyone and thx for all the encouraging posts!

I've had to re-set my goals since I started WISH. :(
My 1st goal (the one I had to reset) was to lose 25lbs by our May trip. My progress was at a standstill for a while, so I've reduced that goal to 15 lbs. by our trip. I think I can make that one. :D
I want to get my 5 lb clippie! :teeth: I'd already lost 6 lbs before starting WISH, but that's when I stalled out. I'm almost there now - only 1 1/2 lbs to go! :Pinkbounc
I haven't set an overall weight loss goal yet because I have so far to go. I want to see how I look & feel, & also see what my DR says as my weight comes off. I try to live life one day at a time anyway, so short term goals work best for me. I really just want to feel healthy, & looking a whole lot better wouldn't be bad, either!
As far as rewarding myself goes, the weight loss in itself is it's own reward for me. I can't wait, though, till I've lost enough weight so I really NEED to go clothes shopping! :bounce: :Pinkbounc Those of you who've met my DH, please don't tell him that just yet ;) Actually, he'll probably be the one offering to take me - he's just that good. :D

I'm the lowest I've weighed in 3 years and loving it! This is my last week to be in the 230's! I was 135 when I married, 150 when I got pregnant 1st time 190 when I got pregnant 2nd time and 3rd time came 10 weeks after 2nd baby! AAGH! Now my lovely ladybug is almost 4 and I'm not going to be in the 200's longer than 4 months!!
Short-long term goal-
Disney Trip 9/17 so I want to be 195 by then
Long-long term goal
140-150 by this time next year
Rewards: Our family trip to Disney! :) Splurging for deluxe mainly because we have 5 in our family and only moderate that fits 5 (POR) is undergoing some construction.
Dh said I could buy a whole new wardrobe - isn't he sweet! So that will be what I do when I get into my size 8/10's- I still have all my 12-16's I've saved and I don't care that they're 5 years old- I just refuse to buy clothes I don't intend to wear more than 2 months! :)
Started WISH 4/1: 236
Today 4/16 I actually weighed 229 so I'm officially under 230-
But hope to be even less than 195 by our trip but want to be conservative.
I've picked back up my exercising- 6am walks 2-3 miles 5 days a week, 3 days at the YMCA, and 30 minute aerobics 2-3x a week. I go to bed by 10:30 and my body wakes me up for the walk- my energy level has doubled since I have stuck with the walking.
Love reading everyone's goals!
OH! And I made a double batch of snickerdoodles for my Awana class I teach and I didn't eat ANY cookie dough and I didn't even eat one single cookie!! NOW THAT'S DISCIPLINE- I haven't been that disciplined in 3 years so I know this time I'm sticking with it!

Okay, here's my story and I'm sticking to it:
Always heavy, I'm 5'5" and was 165 when I got married almost 28 years ago. In my lifetime, I did hypnosis, Opti-fast, Jenny, Atkins and yo-yoed like crazy. I actually weighed 126 for about 2 minutes when I was 26. LOL
I have been as heavy as 240, funny, that lasted alot longer then 2 minutes:D That was 6 years ago. After doing Jenny 3 seperate times and going up and down, I have managed to keep off 40 lbs. for the last 18 months.
I have come to understand my body enough to set a sane goal for myself. I carry my weight fairly well and am healthy, other then a herniated disk, but that is another fun story. Actually, the less weight, better for my back.
Started this on :
3/31-198
4/07-190
4/14-188
Goal is for 160 for 9/15/03
I would be happy to maintain 160 for the rest on my life. Shortterm goals:
5/27-175- going on a cruise
9/15-160-WDW
I hope i am realistic and look forward to the support of this group.

Okay, first I have to say to Ohmom - censoring - I never have believed in it.............. Anyway, that goal will be real hard for you to meet when all you wear are those long flannel jammies!! My advice would be to spend a few bucks at Victoria's Secret- that should be a help toward that one!!
And I was surprised (but really glad) that one of your goals wasn't to get more Disney Bucks out of your mom! Shameful, when I just ask a favor, and sure of course, you would be glad to do it, but just happened to mention how many Disney bucks it was probably worth!
Okay now to my goals, well I see it's late - and I really need to think about them so will save mine for another post.

My first goal is to get to 137 which will mean I have lost 10% of my body weight, but I'm 13 pounds away from that right now. I hope to get there by the fourth of July.
I'd like to lose 20 more by Christmas. But I also want to change my body shape through weight lifting.
And my ultimate goal....well this one is sort of strange. I used to have so little body fat I could stick a finger on each side of my belly button and pop it out. If I could lose enough body fat to do that again I'd really be happy, but right now, I don't even know if I have a belly button!:(

Anniet- EVERYBODY has a belly button. Why- even before belly buttons became the rage, my dad said he got his in the American Indian war- said he got shot with an arrow right in the middle of his stomach and it just left that hole there when he pulled that arrow out!!! :D
Imhall- well, if you don't sound like the carbon copy of me 22 years ago! I was 20 when I got married and in the first 3 years of marriage had all 3 of my now grown babies! My youngest went off to BYU as a Freshman last Sept.! YOU ARE SO SMART- to get it off early. Don't lug that extra weight around. It will prevent you from doing so much. Believe me - I know!
I'm so impressed with everyones goals! You are all a daily inspiration to me . Thanks!

My first goal is to STICK to my new eating style!!
I don't weigh myself weekly mainly because my scale is not accurate. I believe I am down 10 lbs. since I took the WISH challenge.
My next goal is to weigh 130 by Memorial Day. And my ultimate goal is to be 120 for my July 2 week WDW vacation!!! AND STAY THERRRRE!! I was 120 when I married, 13 1/2 years ago. 129 after DD#1, 135 after DD#2, and 145 after DD#3 who is now 5!!
I want to be able to wear tank tops and feel comfortable in a bathing suit!! I am ALWAYS way too self conscious of the way I look. I want to feel SEXY again................DH says i do now!! (I love him!)
My soccer team kicks off it's first game next Friday night (we haven't even practiced yet!) and I am hoping that will help with my weightloss and toning up!!

Since I reached goal weight and goal fat % my goals have changed.....I really want those 6 pack abs, I feel it is an unattainable thing. I do 100 abs 5 days a week then 3 times a week I take a 15 minute abs class. I feel it during the class and have seen some change in the back 3.5 months, but I want more.
The most important thing for me is to keep my diabetes under control with my diet, which I have for the past 2 months. I also am wanting my cholesterol under 200, which it seems no matter how I eat...low fat/high fat it is still at 200 or over. Genetics is a wonderful thing:rolleyes:
I turn 30 in 2 months and I love the accomplishments I have made in the past 1.5 yrs. It took a long time to lose the 24-26lbs and my plan is to keep them off. If only my metabolism would speed up.

You should feel very proud of yourself, Amanda. You have done a wonderful job and you are so determined to stay at goal and to stay healthy. You keep me motivated and inspired. I really appreciate having you for a good example and I profit from having you here on WISH.

My big goal is to be back in onederland by the time we go to WDW in November.

new goal - to look good in a pair of Levi hip huggers this fall! Of course that means a shopping trip to buy them! I won't get hung up on Levi's sizing - don't they run pretty small. They used to when i used to wear them.

First after last nights chat, it is a definite goal to change my board name - NativeTx said it was too long and she was right again! So I have to think of my new AKA before next chat;
Second, I really would like my thighs to be firmer - yea big problem there. If I could just reduce them so they don't rub together soooooo much and while in the same general area - to get my behind to not have that extra large flair;
Third, to be happy that I am now successful at losing weight, no matter how slowly (I have had that afraid to fail-so I won't really try attitude - for so long, that I was sure I just couldn't do it);
Fourth, a size 12 would be good for me and anything less would be a real thrill;
Last, but not least, when I am down in pounds, to really have changed my style of eating and not be a carb addict, a stress eater and eating out of boredom and habit.
