I just heard from Action TV 27 news that Twister will be closed for a few days because a small fire broke out today. Nobody was hurt and the building was safely evacuated. That's all they covered.

Funny, I heard that the Backdraft ay USH was closed because a small tornado formed in the building. Weird. :p

Very funny, Kevin!
Wow, I was in there Thursday in my wheelchair, I would hate to have been there when that happened! :earseek: Glad to hear no one was hurt!

Wow! Since it's just a few days hopefully it was just a minor trash can fire or something. It makes you think about all of those people in such a narrow space though.

Was the fire during the actual show..or did it break out in some trash can along the way?? Wondered if something caught fire during the explosions of the gas tanks during the Twister..any info would be great..thanks.

Not sure on details, maybe the Orlando Sentinel has more. But it was running today, so I guess it wasn't that major.
EDIT-I couldnt find any information on it, so now I'm confused. Please disregard this thread and place in the Trash. Thanks. :)

The sparking mechanism on the splitting tree caught fire. It was reopened later that day.

Proof right there that the media can easily misinterpret information....

Is it open yet??
Thats one of my favorites, even though DD waits in the gift shop. (she is soooo afraid of fire).

I'm sorry, that is not quite an accurate statement. The sparker did not catch fire, it remained on in excess of its programmed show limits. The show was stopped and the situation was resolved. This is an example of the protocol Universal follows to ensure every aspect of safety is examined, and answered-to at the expense of the show, to back up the fact that we put this show on with all dramatic elements everyday under the most strict, and safe conditions possible. The show did indeed open the same day and is open now.

All right then, but then how do you explain the tornado? ;)
