I am very keen to ride Spiderman when we go to IOA in Nov! However I really don't like coasters or 'drop' rides as I have terrible motion sickness, what is this one like? I have read that the special effects are awesome. Is it the best ride at IOA?
Thanks

It's only scary if you're afraid of super-powered cruel cretins, but otherwise it's all in good fun. It may not be the best ride for you because there is lots of motion, and a simulated drop.
Oh,
And the best ride in the park is Pteranodon Flyers.

Believe it or not, Pteranodon Flyers scares some people more than the Hulk or Dueling Dragons! Some people freak out when it starts to swing a lot during the end of the ride.

Since swing type rides scare me I bet that the Flyers ride really will put me over the edge. I will do it, anyway, because I won't know unless I go once. That's what I tell me kids, so I'd better be a role model. :D

I wonder if you are talking about me Barry!
Spiderman was one of my then four year olds favorite rides... she was a little afraid of the villians the first time, but after that it was great!

I rode it and when it started swinging, I was spooked! It's weird because the makers of Pternanodon Flyers also did Roller Soaker at Hersheypark.

Well, you remember how I felt about it as well... REally, they made Roller Soaker as well?
I didn't know that.

And it is the best attraction at IOA.

I would not consider Spiderman "scary" at all, at least not in the context of speed or drops - you never leave the floor. There is a simulated drop at the end that is very realistic, but has never bothered me as there is no side-to-side motion, just a straight-down drop feel. BTW, for comparison, I can't ride Star Tours or Body Wars anymore at all as they make me too dizzy. The thrill of this ride is the 3D effects, not really the motion.
This is, in my opinion, THE BEST theme park attraction ANYWHERE. DO NOT MISS IT!

I, too , suffer from motion sickness, but I can ride Spiderman over and over. I don't think you will have any problem - it really is the best ride - ever!
I cannot ride Back to the Future, Body Wars, or any other "virtual reality" type ride, but Spiderman is no problem.
Go for it - you'll love it.

I too have terrible motion sickness. I can not be a passenger in a car for much more than an hour. I had to focus on my kids when they were younger to prevent being sick on carousels and real rides were definitely out! This past Nov. I was determined to have a great time and took Bomamine. Tower of Terror, R&R coaster, Spiderman, and Back to the Future, etc. etc. were all great. I have never used much over the counter medicine - even avoid aspirins but I have become a believer. Take a quality motion sickness pill and enjoy the ride. In my opinion, Spiderman is worth the price of admission on it's own.

Bonine (sp?) is the motion sickness med I prefer. The others make me drousy or lightheaded. The bonine is 24 hr and I like taking it the night before, right before I go to bed. That way most of it is out of my system by dinner and I can have a drink or 2 (not suppose to drink with any of the motion sickness meds)

This ride scared the crap out of me. I don't do well on simulators and 3D just freak me out so this was not a good combo. I went through most of it screeming with my eyes shut.
I mean I know it's not real and that nothing's going to happen to me but I still get freaked. Even Muppet Vision spooks me!
Put me on a coaster and I'm happy!

In the past, I think Spiderman used to spin 4 times going thru the tube. Now it only spins 3 times and doesn't make me sick. If they make it only spin 2 times, that would be even better.
