What about July 4...help!!!

How are the crowds during the July 4 week? Any tips on strategies? Are we crazy to be considering a trip during this time?

We have gone twice over the 4th of July. It is crowded but manageable. I would do it again in a second. The nice thing is that the parks are open very late. The fireworks were great!!

Do all parks have special decorations and fireworks? Any one better than the other?

My family was there last year over the 4th! It was not bad at all. Most rides during week, maybe 15-20 minute waits. We went to AK during day on the 4th, then crazy me I let them talk me into MK that evening for fireworks! Very crowded! We left after fireworks and they opened a path behind buildings on main street so you didn' have to try to fight crowds on main street! We were at ASMO, bus wait wasn't bad either, they were running lots of extra buses! Fireworks were very nice, I don't think I'll try to watch them from within the park again. Going later in July this year!!

Our strategy(which probably isn't a good one for most) is to not visit the parks during the day. (I use to do a LE 4th pin run around the parks 1st thing in the AM but not this year.)We hang out around our resort. We have a PS for one of the MK Resorts restaurants and time it so we can watch the fireworks from the restaurant or resort area. Then hop on the monorail to get in a few rides in the last hour or so while most of the masses are leaving. Then call it a night.http://216.40.249.192/s/otn/sleepy/slaap.gif

What time do you usually make your PS on the 4th? We have a 6pm at OHanas. Is that too early? We have no hopes of getting a window table w/MK view. I'm figuring if we are seated at 6:30-dinner will take an hour or so. That gives us an hour to walk around the Poly and wait for the FW.

Does that sound reasonable?
