Hi. DW and I are thinking about leaving our DD (6) in the kids club one night and going ashore (actually this is my DD idea - she wants us to leave her there a long time). I was curious if anyone had actually done that and if the pagers they give you can reach a mile or so. I'm just a bit worried that if they have to get in touch with us, we will not know it.
Anyone else had this same issue - how did you solve it?
Thanks
June 7 on the Western - can't wait!!!

No, they do not work that far from the ship. If you leave your children on board while visiting an island, let the staff know. I'm not sure what happens if they need you while you're gone though.

I know that with the paperwork that you sign that if your child needs medical help, you sign a waiver allowing them to either do it themselves or take them to the ship's doctor.

I believe no more than a mile from the ship. We included our son on all of our excursions. Our last cruise, he wanted to stay with the kid's club during our Castaway Club day. The pager worked fine.
Hope that helps!

When we did the cruise, we were told by the cast member that it is hit or miss that the pagers will work. They have had cases where they did not work when they are brought on shore.
We could not get our DS off the ship when were were in port. He was having too much fun in the club. We got off the ship but just took a hike around the city, bought a few things and got back on board. We enjoyed the time on the Wonder when there were so few people on board.

It does work all over Castaway Cay but not the other islands, unfortunately.
